Nvidea Shield Xfinity app - Nexus Player General

Anybody got the app from the Shield so it can be side loaded on the Nexus Player?
Sent from my SHIELD Tablet K1 using Tapatalk

Well, I finally gave up and bought a damn Roku to do this and today I found (on FB for now God's Sake!)....
https://m.sendspace.com/file/em1cs9

And it works pretty darn good. Better than the Roku and possibly faster than the X1 box.
Actually running it on a Shield. Haven't tried it on Nexus Player yet.

Much better than previous Xfinity app options. Good find, much appreciated. Thanks for sharing [emoji6]

I was able to connect to play a few Death Matches and Zone Matches this afternoon but then when I tried later, wasn't able to connect to the server - even after multiple tries. I guess they will need to improve their servers to allow for the influx of gamers.

Has anyone been able to get a controller working? I tried a wireless xbox 360 controller but it's not letting me map the keys.
Played a bit yesterday, its pretty amazing. Framerate wasn't exactly silky smooth but it wasn't that bad either. Was playing on balanced instead of performance. Very impressed and excited to see gameplay additions coming in over time
I tried it out and it seems pretty good.
I got killed a lot though ;_;

Ok so after seeing videos on this game on the nexus 7, here on the tf700 it run super slow compared to the smoother nexus 7
I downloaded and tried out the game. Looked good. I only played one game. I think it was death match. I assume playing in the middle of the nigh help a lot in finding a game quickly.
I was impressed that I was able over Sprint's 3G network. I didn't experience any noticeable lag. Granted, I was getting good bandwidth at the time since I was able to connect to OnLive as well, which requires a 1mbps for tablets.
It runs pretty good on mine except the servers are very laggy. I have tried 4 different wifi networks all of which are very fast and still thr game has player lag.

This game is awesome !!!! Omg I'm so good at it too try using the keyboard to move around and the tablet to aim and shoot works wonders !!

[MOD] Somebody enabled Miracast for Nexus 7

I just found this on GitHub:
Somebody, called Kensuke, enabled Mircast (Streaming screen over WiFi) for the Nexus 7. I don't have mine here so I can't test it.
Maybe somebody can try it out.
It seems that he compiled the complete 4.2.2 ROMs with the addional Miracast Support.
Try it on your own Risk!

awesome! Cm should merge this feature. And now, we know Miracast is a software-related not hardward-related. Oh yeah.

Tried the Tilapia package for my 3g. It almost works. I'm going to play with it some more. Documentation for his app would be great. It's not straightforward.

If someone would like to test it I did include the patch on my ROM, take a look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43489843#post43489843
So anyone able to verify this working?
Working fine here.

Well this is exciting. Hopefully there's enough demand for it so we won't be limited to just a handful of ROMs to take advantage of this.
I wonder if there is any way a mod like this could be packaged into an Xposed module? Or is it such a fundamental change that it has to be baked into the ROM?
I would test this out if I had a Miracast receiver already. Also I don't want to lose the tethering menu in my current tilapia ROM, so ideally if a ROM had both Miracast & tethering that'd be great.

So you streamed your screen to your TV, no problems at all?
Is it smooth? How much does the Allshare dongle cost, I should get this instead of Android stick PC.

Tried both allshare cast dongle and Android TV stick (dual core rk3066 one), all works. Pretty much the same experience as my Nexus 4 with native wireless display.
With android TV stick, it lags a lot. Definitely not for gaming, no. But with allshare cast dongle, it works much much better..
In my country, the dongle cost me around $80

Android TV Boxes

I just got one of these, second is coming in mail.
XBMC XAF works great. Netflix works great, but is optimized for phone/tablet touchscreen.
Is there a way to get the googletv netflix app to run on android? Or is there some android APP I can use to control Netflix on the TV Box?

The other one is that g-box mx w/e clone.
Both running 4.2.2 android. Just would like a netflix that works with remote or way to control it from my phone.
Miracast isn't working for me.

Choppy video performance

Did anyone notice a choppy video playback using YouTube app on the N5?. I tried my Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 playing HD videos on youtube , it is choppy on my N5 where it is smooth on my N4.I did not try other video players.

Yeah, that's what I notice too. I mean, the video looks stunning, but it doesn't seem to be running smoothly at all.
I ran it side by side with my iPhone 4S, and my iPhone played the video much smoother overall. I thought I was just seeing thing until it reached one part in the video where the same kid in the video raising his hand to point at the sky. The arm movement right there was noticeably unnatural in the Nexus 5, compare to my iPhone 4S's playback.
Does anyone know an app that can show you what the currently playing video's fps is?
I have not experienced this... well I haven't notice it if it is choppy

Do you have any other smartphones that is capable of playing youtube videos? Pull the same video up across both both phones and start the playback at the same time.
Better yet, compare it against your PC browser.

I hope it's just some optimization problem that can be fixed with software update(s). I'd really hate to return this phone back, but it's quite a deal-breaker for someone like me who uses the phone as an on-the-go multimedia player.
Are there any alternative apps that can play HD youtube videos smoothly?

Sometimes these issues are also caused by user settings like what and how many apps or widgets running in the background, Google syncronisation interval and what apps connect to the internet etc etc.

I don't think its defective. I believe all the devices have the same issue. We just have to wait for a software fix.

Well, there are people like me and you who notice the "stuttering" (I wouldn't call it choppy, because still frames are just as clear as my 4S). Then, there are others that say it does not stutter even in the slightest.
I don't know what to believe in anymore.
Maybe the YouTube app isn`t fully optimsed for KitKat yet.
hmm I can only just notice it - though if I wasn't looking for it I doubt I'd notice it

Probably a good test would be download the video using for example tubemate, then play the local copy this would help determine whether network latencies are contributing to any lags or if caused by decoding the video if it occurs when local copy.
Then try hw vs Sw decoding.
Will test when I ve got time.

yeah its very stuttery. Whats worse the youtube app doesn't seem to be able to get 1080p and 720 upscaled looks atrocious. Playing the same video on my 2 year old One XL and this phone, the Nexus is so much worse in terms of stutter, upscaling and color that I'm very disappointed at the moment.

All it does is use Bluetooth to connect to the phone, so yeah, it works well with the GS4 and with CM.
want that
I really want one of the higher end mpga controllers. I currently ise a ps3 controller and the sixaxxis app, but native support would be so nice.
I've been using to new MOGA PRO and it works rather well. Bluetooth sync just fine and ive gotten pretty obsessed with playing need for speed lol. Makes things much easier

Wonder if it's any good for playing minecraft pocket edition
I got a moga pocket, and it works with my s4 on cyanogen, I had to install the moga universal driver from play store for some emulators, but works like a charm.
Just got the Pro for myself. I'm on stock 4.3 and it works great. Been playing modern combat 4 and it's great. Feels like I'm playing cod just a slight lag. Also works great for emulators as it has a A and B setting for the controller. Havent had any issues controller battery last quite long.

Cool, thanks for all the responses, should be ordering one soon!
