[MOD] Somebody enabled Miracast for Nexus 7 - Nexus 7 Android Development

I just found this on GitHub:
Somebody, called Kensuke, enabled Mircast (Streaming screen over WiFi) for the Nexus 7. I don't have mine here so I can't test it.
Maybe somebody can try it out.
It seems that he compiled the complete 4.2.2 ROMs with the addional Miracast Support.
Try it on your own Risk!

awesome! Cm should merge this feature. And now, we know Miracast is a software-related not hardward-related. Oh yeah.

Oh man I hope this gets baked into some ROMs! This is the one feature that I really want that the N7 doesn't have...

I would love this baked into a ROM

Would love to see this become a common feature for Roms.

Tried the Tilapia package for my 3g. It almost works. I'm going to play with it some more. Documentation for his app would be great. It's not straightforward.

Have there anyone a image now?

If someone would like to test it I did include the patch on my ROM, take a look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43489843#post43489843

So anyone able to verify this working?

Working fine here.

Well this is exciting. Hopefully there's enough demand for it so we won't be limited to just a handful of ROMs to take advantage of this.

I wonder if there is any way a mod like this could be packaged into an Xposed module? Or is it such a fundamental change that it has to be baked into the ROM?
I would test this out if I had a Miracast receiver already. Also I don't want to lose the tethering menu in my current tilapia ROM, so ideally if a ROM had both Miracast & tethering that'd be great.

Indeed.. lol. Would be nice if this eventually came to all CyanogenMod ROMs for all devices.

So you streamed your screen to your TV, no problems at all?
Is it smooth? How much does the Allshare dongle cost, I should get this instead of Android stick PC.

Tried both allshare cast dongle and Android TV stick (dual core rk3066 one), all works. Pretty much the same experience as my Nexus 4 with native wireless display.
With android TV stick, it lags a lot. Definitely not for gaming, no. But with allshare cast dongle, it works much much better..
In my country, the dongle cost me around $80

I don't think Weapon would work for him since its 2.3.3, if he's trying to use netflix.
...unless netflix is working now for Weapon which if that's true when did that happen?
Edit 9/22/11: netflix has received an update and it works w/ weapon now!

You are sol. The roms that work with Netflix don't work with HDMI and the roms that have HDMI working Netflix don't work.

You can try:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1150037
Its a fantastic rom and I know netflix works on it, and a friend of mine says he is using the same rom and that HDMI is also working on it.
Sorry cant say for sure (cant find my HDMI cable to try for you)
hope this helps!
CM7 nightly 143 works for me for Netflix and HDMI to my 1080p tv. At a friends house I couldn't get it to work (the HDMI) and after a lot of digging realized that CM7 HDMI only works on 1080, he had a 720 tv. CM hasn't built the HDMI setting that were in the stock rom, which exist in a lot of other roms though, like miui and xboarder, which netflix might work with if your tv is 720. Good luck.
CM7 works with HDMI
I just rooted and installed CM7 yesterday. I installed Netflix and am using it at this very moment with the HDMI connection.
G2x with CM7 2.3.5
noob...sorry about the lawn thing
I am running CM7 nightly build 146. My HDMI works flawlessly with netflix, but when I try to stream an avi/divx file it drops out. It comes back for a minute or so and drops again. I am thinking of changing to trigger, but other than the HDMi the phone is kick ass. Decisions, decisions...
Please don't yell at me. I'm sensitive

Hi, I'd like to know if the HDMI OUT with sense 4 is OK now?

I want to use android 4 + sense 4 while I also need to show the screen on my TV via HDMI cable?
Yes I heard it's not fixed last month -- how about it now, pls?

Hi there, as I know of I believe HDMI is not working on the sense 4 roms. What you can do is check each Rom that your interested in and check there "bug" list. Usually HDMI is on the list meaning it's not functioning . But check and see of Any got it working by looking at that list on the first page of the Rom and its site. You can find them in sensation android development. Each Rom has a site with that list and it will tell you weather or not HDMI is functioning. If you don't see it on the list then it IS functioning. I really hope this helps And best wishes!

Just picked one up myself, and have the same questions.
i would like to know to...
although i found this http://forum.gtvhacker.com/nsz-gs7-streamer/
yeah, found that too. Looks like GTV Hax is being coy about releasing the updated root. Sony plugged all the holes quickly.

I think they should not even advertise the Google play store: very very limited on what you can download.
I d/l stuff on my Kindle Fire HD & transfer it over. A lot of it works anyway, as long as it's not too touchscreen dependent. Be nice if we could get root (it exists), but it's being kept from the general population.

any news on a jellybean update?
I sold mine. It was awful, slow, laggy device. Cool at first, but novelty wore off. Better off buying a computer and using a wireless keyboard and mouse app for your phone.

[DEV] dlmirror - Nexus 7 video output

Hello, I made a cmd app called "dlmirror", it can mirror the screen of Nexus 7 to DisplayLink devices. For example, with DisplayLink adapter you can connect your Nexus 7 to TV/Projector via VGA/HDMI/DVI cable.

Very nice. Is this the only development on getting TV output for nexus 7?
Please forgive my ignorance, and I realize that we have an accessory section, but what kind of adapter would I need to purchase to make this happen?
AW: [DEV]dlmirror - Nexus 7 video output
I guess you need a normal OTG adapter and then you can plug your DisplayLink monitor or a DisplayLink adapter (with VGA, DVI or HDMI output) into it.
Re: [DEV]dlmirror - Nexus 7 video output
Hmm I was thinking the same... Did some googling, maybe we need some of these

of course root is needed. there's no app to do this... this is the 1st in the world
I'm busy these months, maybe I'll develop an app to use dlmirror easily when I'm free.

Great news and great wotk man! So there is video-out possibility after all on our Nexus 7. Is there a hardware cap at 15fps or is it possible to go higher?
Re: [DEV]dlmirror - Nexus 7 video output
Is this faster than android transporter ROM or has the potential to be faster?
Would this adapter also work?

This would be excellent.

I just bought a slimport adapter for my nexus 4 and was hoping to use it with the nexus 7

DisplayPort is totally different from DisplayLink.

[Q] watching movies on Samsung TV from Tab

Hey guys. I think this may be a shot in the dark but oh well. When I'm on stock ROMs i can open gallery, select video and then send it to my Samsung TV. Beautiful picture quality. I cant do this on CM or the like. What is it that is needed to do this? And if it is something simple can i just side load it onto my tab when I'm using CM or PacRom? Like if i were to take the gallery apk out of stock and put it in system. Would that work?

Think it's the allshare app which is responsible. it is only available in samsung based roms, only works with samsung framework.
