p5113 shuts off when screen times out - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a rooted 5113 running Android 4.1.1. Haven't used it for a long time and have not installed a custom rom. Kernel number is 3.0.31-523998. Whenever the screen times out, the tab 2 turns off, and I have to hit the power button button and the volume button at the same time to restart it. Does anyone have any idea as to how, I can prevent the tab from turning off when the screen times out.
Also, my ultimate goal is to upgrade to KitKat so that I will have mirroring. If I install KItKat, is that likely to get rid of the shut off problem. Thanks for any help that can be provided. Should and that I have Titanium Pro.

you should upgrade the tab to the latest stock jb rom 4.2.2, then try the custom rom, the tab has reached to marshmallow, you can try kitkat, LP and M. they are all pretty much stable than the stock. not every Rom supports mirroring.

Billysam,
Thanks for your reply. With the kludge of a system that I have, I decided to use factory reset. That solved the time out problem. Now, I will attempt to re-root it.

NS4G only working with AOKP

Hello folks, first post, hope you can help.
My phone has a very specific problem that happens with every rom BUT with AOKP.
When the phone is on idle it just gets stuck, black screen, button lights are on. Only thing to do is pull the battery out. It also happened with the stock rom, so I tried to unroot it and give it to sprint but they couldn't take it because of a small crack on the screen(been there forever).
I came back home and tried to flash it with a custom rom again, and recovery was broken, so I flashed recovery on the device 3 times before it started working again.
I randomly chose AOKP and it was working pretty well, although it slowed down lately a lot. I tried to install JB on it recently and the problem returned, so I tried CM9 again, CM10 even tried Bugless Beast, same thing. I keep going back to the backup I have of AOKP and it's the only one that doesn't crash my phone.
I've attached the phone information so you guys can see exactly which built I'm running.
Bump.
Please help me fix my phone, I'm really at loss how to solve this problem,
Do you turn deep idle on? If so that could be the problem......when u flash a new rom, as your setting everything up, make sure deep idle is turned off.....the option is under advanced in the cm roms .......hope that helps

[Q] Potential problem with SGS3 power button or rom

Greetings all, recently I have rooted and flashed Cyanogenmod 10.1 nightly to my GT-i9300 but a couple of days ago I started to get random reboot loops, the screen waking and sleeping on its own, etc. I tried flashing several other AOSP based roms such as AOKP and Carbon with no success. Today while I was in the car I noticed that if I just extremely lightly touch the power button it will function as it should, however if I press it normally it starts messing up again. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the 3.0 kernel of the roms I've flashed or if it's simply a faulty power button but I would like some enlightenment so I can make my phone usable again, cheers
Hey there.
whats the android version of your rom? 4.2 or 4.1?
i had almost the same problem with my S3 when i flashed a rom with android 4.2
it seems like on the 9300 the hardware isnt able to work properly with 4.2 8if i imagine this info correctly)
after wipe and installing 4.1 everything was fine again.
i hope this may help you

[Q] Tab 7 2.0 is stuck on charging loop!

Hello. My sister has a Galaxy tab 2, and I rooted it several months ago. Today, after letting it on the charger last night, I find that the charging animation is on for a few seconds, then the device reboots and repeats the process. I couldn't connect to my laptop or get into recovery. I need to know what to do to fix it, do I use Odin and flash stock? Also, I'd like to put cyanogenmod 10 on it, what's the latest stable build, and how do you put it on the tab?

try to boot into recovery and wipe cache partition this might help you
and try latest aokp rom for tab 2 its great
I had recovery flashed, I somehow managed to fix this. I booted while holding the volume up and down buttons, then pressed, not held the power button. It wouldn't charge while it was on or off, so I powered off normally. It then started charging only when it was off. I used CWM's ROM manager to flash CWM, then backed up, wiped, and installed CM 10 stable. I'm a fan of Cyanogenmod, I've ran it on about every phone I've owned.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Fame Duos S6812 Touch Driver lost.

I have the Galaxy Fame DUOS GT-S6812B variant, I installed the Unofficial CM11 from this forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-fame/orig-development/rom-cyanogenmod11-t2897673), and suddenly touch screen and capacitive buttons weren't working. I tried to install back the official stock rom with Odin and I had the same problem (which I didn't have before installing the CM11) after this I tried to install the stock rom with Kies and same thing. Phone loads the OS and shows the "select language" menu but screen is unresponsive and "menu" and "back" buttons don't work at all, not even light up. Only power button, "volume buttons" and "home" work. I'm getting kind of desperate, a relative gave me the phone so I could make it faster and smoother and instead I've broken it. Please, some help would be highly appreciated. I think the problem might be that installing the CM11 messed up with the Drivers and flashing back the stock couldn't fix that. Is there any way to revert the process and get the drivers back?
Thank you all in advance.
I've got an answer in another forum saying it could be the kernel, but, wouldn't the stock ROM had solved that? in case it wouldn't how can I install the original kernel and thus fix this issue?.

i m facing the same problem!!!!!
don't know how to solve this....
@ringox....Was your problem solved? please help me because i am having the same problem...my gt 6812 stucks on select language as touch is not working...
Nothings gonna work...trust me i have tried everything...your touchscreen got fried up. The only thing you can do is get it to a nearby samsung store or any nearby mobile repairing store to get a brand new touchscreen. I recommend you to not go to samsung store as it would cost you almost rs.2500 whereas if you go to any other repairing store you can get it fixed in less than rs.1000.

Note edge n915f - screen blackout

Hey everyone, read this whole story of my note edge and then help me out with suggestions:
- 4 months ago i dropped it, it got a small straight line crack from left to right with no harm done with the touch, i used it everyday with no probs at all.
- Then 2 weeks ago, i flashed the XTREME MUSIC MOD BY ANDROIDEXPERT LIKE 2 TIMES, WHICH NEEDED A DALVIK WIPE, the apps optimization really took long which i think could be the reason for all this mess. I locked the screen, then i went on to unlock it, it never turned the screen on, it has since gone TOTAL BLACK OUT.
- Capacitive button lights and LED light is working, screen is also responding but i just can't see anything.
- i also did a soft reset ( That by removing battery and holding the power button for a minute or so), i turned the phone on but no luck.
====> HERE'S THE TWIST NOW, after 2 weeks of giving up, i tried again, i plugged the charger in and hurrey!, the screen turned on to show the charging animation, BUT, it went on to the boot screen when it shows samsung logo and AGAIN, it went total blackout.
what could be wrong?

Flash a stock rom. If youre on 5.0 find a 5.0 stock or if youre on 5.1 do a 5.1
If this does not solve your problem, i would suggest flashing stock rom with pit file (and selecting repartition option in odin)
