Sorry
Sorry,
I didnt see it.
I talked with LG on twitter and they told me that it will be an update. They didnt told me on what day but they said it is on calendar and it will take place in few days.

Looking like tomorrow actually. We need to wait for a KDZ to surface since we cant flash unsigned images.

Plus, there is no root for Android 6 ?

maybe are...if we have root for 5.1 why dont have for 6.0?! you are wrong...i belive someone like one guy i cant remember the nickname here on XDA make img's to flash with root built in...and if they do on other versions why they dont make with 6.0?!
You have to get your mind open because everything is possible, only thing i cant see possible now is getting the bootloader unlocked! :/

Its stupid not to open bootloader. We have a flashgrip without ROMs.
Recently,i found an option that maybe cal allow us to get into bootloader.OEM unlock?Anyboy knows about it?

In marshmallow it may not be possible to root the system without the bootloader being unlocked..
That is why the other LG phones with marshmallow bt no bootloader unlock are still waiting for just a simple root..
The bootloader of marshmallow itself verifies for system modification and override root.
-however there may be some way bt now it will be much more difficult to root itself.

I thought there was a new security feature that wouldn't allow you to root it unless bootloader was unlocked. I could me mistaken

Sorry guy, you are not the first one who has seen this option it's there since a few updates and doesn't do anything...

Android 6 requires a modified kernel in order to have root. There may be ways around it, but it is a compliaction for sure.
I´m not sure what everybody is using root for, but it´s not a problem for me. You can always download the system image, do any changes you like on your computer (like changing DPI, which is a must for me) and flash it to the phone afterwards.
Also, @adribarrueco please change the title. It´s not Android 6 and it´s not even Android 6 source code. This is just the opensource files that LG used in their flavor of Android 6. The complete source has tens of GB of data.

Damn I fall for that title every time.
Original poster, please change the title of that thread.

The title for this thread is bull...

Stop bumping this thread let it die.

I had sprint LG G2, for G2 new lg open source release would mean update comes to phone in 2-3 days . Open source code release generally means build is final and ready to hit phones or no further changes to open source code.
Given that H955 model is released in many countries, may be LG will start rolling out 6.0 in some country this week.

I hope lg relase any solution for 9008.... my flex 2 is dead

If not so, I won't like to give you an advice because you may brick your phone if you do something wrong.
You can enter fastboot with Power+VolDown. You don't need root, but an unlocked bootloader.
How about root?

There is a custom recovery now, so you need an unlocked BL, flash the recovery, flash superuser and enjoy you can also test the countless exploits or one click rooting methods, like vroot or kingoo or whatever they are called.

Boot to fastboot, and select the last option in the list. Unless the last option is barcodes, then pick the second to last option. When the phone boots, RSD Lite will see it.

These are the options in the Moto G bootloader:
Code:
Normal Powerup
Recovery
Factory
Switch Console [NULL: null]
Barcodes
BP Tools

The last option "BP Tools" reboots the device to Android, but with a whole bunch of new devices detected in Windows Device Manager.
Manually add drivers for the new "Motorola QC Diag interface" device. These drivers are in the motorola driver package: http://www.mymotocast.com/download/MDM?platform=windows
The driver is the "Motorola QC Diag Port", Windows did NOT detect this, I had to go through the 'let me choose a driver' dialog. Finally the Moto G is detected in RSD Lite.
That's it, BP Tools at the end. I selected it wondering what it was and lo and behold, RSD Lite suddenly recognised the phone (I had left it open).

Don't Install 5.1.1 YET!!! Understand it first

CAUTION with 5.1.1 UpdateG925PVPU2B0F7I've been spending some time reading T-mobiles issues with the update. This isn't a super new conversation, but is probably new to many Sprint users. The update appears have rollback protection, which effects both kernel and bootloader from what they are saying... Which I find slightly confusing since I didn't think that their was a locked bootloader on the US versions (maybe someone can assist with that)
Figured we could start the conversation early for Custom Root/Recovery/etc. users, so that we may save some of us some trouble with Soft/Hard brinks in the next week or so.
This is the thread I've been looking at.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-s6-edge/general/psa-odin-5-1-1-t3136151
EDIT:
NO, the bootloader is not locked with the 5.1.1 update.
Rather, "Factory Reset Protection" (an Android thing - not a Samsung thing!) is now an option, which allows you to lock the bootloader yourself, protecting your device from someone installing a custom recovery, wiping your device and making it their own. It makes the device somewhat less valuable, and therefore (supposedly) less likely to be stolen.
The 5.1.1 upgrade looks to be a "permanent" upgrade, meaning we're not able to revert back to 5.0.2 kernels and recoveries.
So, I would suggest to sit tight with your current set up. In order to customize our devices we will need to wait for:
A) Root for 5.1.1
-Root has been achived: http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...elopment/5-1-1-stock-of7-kernel-root-t3153396
B) Samsung to post the source code for the new kernel.
C) Custom Recovery
-Recovery has been achived:
Once we have the above, we can get back to modding our devices.
If I'm wrong, someone please correct me.
Interesting article, I remember several other older Samsung devices where you could not downgrade bootloaders and modems. IE Galaxy S3, note 3, s5. But there was still root, Roms and the ability to flash kernels. Hopefully there's no need to go back anyway. The kernel thing is something new so I may hold off on upgrading. Thanks for the info

This is my first Samsung, so the whole root recovery process was almost too smooth since I've been on the HTC side for 5 years. Unlocking bootloaders, S-off and requesting tokens to push.. Ugh, as must as I likes HTC and Sense, that sucked.
I think I'm holding off as well, untill Sac23/ Ram9200 might have spare time to look over the update first and make sense of it all and could at least get it to where V.2 is right now. But it sounds like the Kernel could be our hold up, without Hybridmax's current support.

Yea but based off of my years of experience and having Samsung devices, I'm pretty sure that someone will find a way moving forward, but going back probably won't happen. I too had an HTC evo years back lol and I couldn't stand the root process. I feel your pain. But yea it may be wise just to wait for a while on the update

How to Change Fastboot Device Status ENGINEERING to Device is LOCKED

Hi,
After replacing MotherBoard of MotoG 3gen (2015) bcs of a frontcam error is the fastboot "status is engineering" and "software status modified" because of this it is not possible to unlock device with a valid fastboot unlock code from motorola.
How can I change this in to "Device is LOCKED" Software status: Official
DeviceMotorola Moto g 3gen 2015 Model: XT1541
Devoloper Options incl OEM Unlock are ON, Drivers installed and have a unlock key
Fastboot:

(bootloader) fastboot oem
lock currently disabled! FAILED (remote failure) finished. total time: 0.047s
Have you tried the normal relock procedure? http://forum.xda-developers.com/2015-moto-g/general/guide-relocking-bootloader-t3398470
I readed this topic but phone is never been LOCKED it has from day one the status engineering. I followed the motorola guide + staps to UNLOCK it and received a unlock code , but unlockcode doesn't work bcs Motherboard of phone has ENGINEERING mode...how to change this in LOCKED?

Engineer Bootloader means that there is no lock at all. Hence why it says Secure = no. It also means the OP has a very rare XT1541 Moto G 2015 which is worth a few bucks!.
It means the OP can do what ever to any partition there is no lock on anything.

Oké we have same opinion abt status engineering i installed cwm 12 in my never locked Motog 2015- XT1541 (osprey) and it works great interesting thing is that i cant install Cwm 13 or other A 6 based OS Except original / stock Android with fastboot or RSD Lite.
I have the same problem, when i boot RR 5.7.3 or any other r61 or later rom build i get a kernel panic and makes a ramdump. Not booting at all. Now im on vatsal RR 5.7.2 and i have no problems. Hope it helps someone to find something. Thx

The response was quite clear from AlphaDog (Moto Sr Moderator):
The phones should not be showing Engineering. If you get a phone back this way, it was not flashed properly and needs to be reflashed - call customer service and make arrangements to have it reflashed.

You should flash back to stock and contact Moto customer service.. It is entirely possible your device was misflashed and isn't even reporting the correct RAM or storage space. A device with a Engineering state for the bootloader cannot be trusted.

Sent from my VS987 using Tapatalk
My understanding, not as a programmer by any means...is that the phone needs to have an unlocked bootloader prior to even having the ability to gain root. If the service provider (Verizon) doesn't unlock this, root cannot happen in a traditional sense. Carriers such as T-Mobile have a root for this phone as they come with unlocked bootloaders. You wont see root on the Verizon variant.

no there isnt hope unless u figure it out the "experts" have tried time and time again
the bootloaders arent locked they are signed with a very special key that would take ever computer together in the worl roughly 200000 years plus to brute force into. verizon and att are the worst
now you all know. as said before if u wanted to root you should have studied before buying a "locked" device
if u want root either get a rootable device or figure it out on your own
as with the g4 there will more than likely never be root for these "locked" devices
not being an ass just the cold hard truth

they cant unlock the bootloader or it would have been done
lgs verity key prevents this through qfused motherboards highly encrypted partitions that the bootloader verifys and if one thing is off bam lg secure boot error.
which again is basicly hardcoded into the device.
no one is going to waste their time trying a 99.9% impossible feat
The phone is just not popular enough the Verizon Galaxy S7 I believe is unlocked for the bootloader. If the phone is popular enough a developer will work on it.

Has anyone ever tried one click root dot com ? They explicitly mention that they can root the vs987 variant. I'm willing to pay if someone can confirm me that it really works...
Thanks

You need to be on marshmallow or have anti-rollback to be 0 which <1% of ppl have. Also, it's not a complete root, so although you have root permissions, it's unstable and you have no root manager (SuperSU/Magisk/etc.)

Nokia 8 official bootloader unlock method.

Rejoice people, Nokia just released an official bootloader unlock method for Nokia 8 confirming via a tweet from Juho Sarvikas.
Please check the tweet or Nokia website for more information, I am not yet allowed to post links/urls on XDA threads yet.
I will not definitely do that! Cause, it is a high risk to unlock a device with a cronic image retention problem. I don't want to make my warranty void until I can completely trust this device!

So, A big question to all participants. If we have already unlocked bootloader via unofficial one, do we need to unlock it via official method?
I want to know if it poses no big deal if you have already unlocked bootloader previously using unofficial method.

Simply speaking: the result is the same, because unofficial method calculated the same keys official does. You don't need to unlock again as it's unlocked already.
btw just would like to put this in this topic where it belongs: official announcement post about unlocking https://twitter.com/sarvikas/status/1045298106818949120
