Nokia 8 official bootloader unlock method. - Nokia 8 Guides, News, & Discussion

Rejoice people, Nokia just released an official bootloader unlock method for Nokia 8 confirming via a tweet from Juho Sarvikas.
Please check the tweet or Nokia website for more information, I am not yet allowed to post links/urls on XDA threads yet.

I will not definitely do that! Cause, it is a high risk to unlock a device with a cronic image retention problem. I don't want to make my warranty void until I can completely trust this device!

So, A big question to all participants. If we have already unlocked bootloader via unofficial one, do we need to unlock it via official method?
I want to know if it poses no big deal if you have already unlocked bootloader previously using unofficial method.

Simply speaking: the result is the same, because unofficial method calculated the same keys official does. You don't need to unlock again as it's unlocked already.
btw just would like to put this in this topic where it belongs: official announcement post about unlocking https://twitter.com/sarvikas/status/1045298106818949120

Absolutely no way to root or downgrade 183.46.15.xt926 ?

Hey XDA,
I would really love to flash lolipop custom rom on my phone but it seems that root or downgrading is impossible atm.. The only viable option i see atm is if i do a factory reset but even then im still not sure if it will downgrade...
Any hope here XDA?
Factory reset won't downgrade. If your boot loader is locked, you can't downgrade.

Alcatel one touch dawn 5027B

OK I've been using XDA for a while to find ways to root phones and get custom Roms and recoveries even used it to take a Samsung s2 up to Android 6.0 I'm proud of you devs but this phone I just got and there's literally nothing I can find about it. I've found how to unlock the bootloader and it's simple open up the dev options and it's in there but so far no root no recoveries and no Roms which surprised me anyone willing to work on it I'm up for testing
Over 900 requesting root from KingRoot so anyone willing to do this it'll be obviously appreciated by many and if found could possibly sell it to people making the one touch rooting apps

On a negative note, the bootloader on the 5027B appears to be locked down tight. This, of course, negates the notion of flashing a custom recovery or custom boot.img. I am researching any viable options for bootloader unlocking.
Mine you just need to open developer options and unlock the OEM

Allowing OEM Unlocking in Developer Options doesn't unlock your bootloader per se. It merely allows for bootloader unlocking to be done. My Moto G3, for example, to unlock the bootloader, OEM Unlocking had to be enabled in Dev Options before I could proceed to use Minimal adb & fastboot to unlock my bootloader via Motorola's website. I'm not seeing much on methods to unlock Alcatel bootloader, or Boost Mobile's specific policy on the 5027B bootloader.
Edit: it appears as though fastboot oem unlock will unlock this bootloader, in the adb & fastboot directory. I'll update with findings.

geez if there is a paid way then there is a way... they are just being stingy!!!! i have 2 of the buggers and cant root them however i need to as they are back ups and i use them (or will) to tether wifi to my computer bypassing carrier limitations...
i just had to flash hubbys dd because it went wonky... wouldnt boot etc... that was our tether so i had to do whatever it took as we have no back up phones that are rootable at the moment :crying:
come on yall i know the few in this thread arent the only ones with these devices that want root...

Root !

Why is it so impossible to root the vs987 ?? Where are those Android experts ???it's been one year and me and many people stuck on the marshmallow + locked WiFi hotspot with the unlocked Verizon G5s !! Is there a hope ?

There are many Android experts that could unlock the bootloader Right ? Is it how it works ??? If yes that means they could unlock it ..
Sent from my VS987 using Tapatalk
My understanding, not as a programmer by any means...is that the phone needs to have an unlocked bootloader prior to even having the ability to gain root. If the service provider (Verizon) doesn't unlock this, root cannot happen in a traditional sense. Carriers such as T-Mobile have a root for this phone as they come with unlocked bootloaders. You wont see root on the Verizon variant.

no there isnt hope unless u figure it out the "experts" have tried time and time again
the bootloaders arent locked they are signed with a very special key that would take ever computer together in the worl roughly 200000 years plus to brute force into. verizon and att are the worst
now you all know. as said before if u wanted to root you should have studied before buying a "locked" device
if u want root either get a rootable device or figure it out on your own
as with the g4 there will more than likely never be root for these "locked" devices
not being an ass just the cold hard truth

they cant unlock the bootloader or it would have been done
lgs verity key prevents this through qfused motherboards highly encrypted partitions that the bootloader verifys and if one thing is off bam lg secure boot error.
which again is basicly hardcoded into the device.
no one is going to waste their time trying a 99.9% impossible feat
The phone is just not popular enough the Verizon Galaxy S7 I believe is unlocked for the bootloader. If the phone is popular enough a developer will work on it.

You need to be on marshmallow or have anti-rollback to be 0 which <1% of ppl have. Also, it's not a complete root, so although you have root permissions, it's unstable and you have no root manager (SuperSU/Magisk/etc.)
Root

[Magisk] Root P20 Pro

So since apparently no one rooted their p20 yet and I heard it wasn't possible since no boot dumped yet.
I'll provide this https://mega.nz/#!jlBFWSwR!wzozF9Zi189upCm6mCVjTDEUcG9SpDHbNOPewKJ7so8
Magisk patched boot. (oh yeah you read right!)
All you need to do is obtain your bootloader unlock code.
If you somehow fail getting the bootloader code or getting wrong code. I can write up a thread for how we did it.
Unlock the bootloader and flash ramdisk with
Fastboot flash ramdisk CLT-L29-MAGISK.img
They reboot. Simple right?
This has been tested on a demo unit (C652) and works well!
We even dumped oeminfo!
Enjoy.

It's a copy-paste guide, don't use it.
And it's originally not even for Oreo, as they use 'recovery' partition rather than 'recovery_ramdisk'.
ok, thank you
I suspected a little.
However, just before I had the P20, I had an Oneplus 5T under oreo and it was still a partition recovery as usual. I rooted the Oneplus 5T by flashing the recovery quite normally: "Fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" then under twrp, flashing magisk.zip. No use of a recovery_ramdisk

It's certain. abd very logical
In the meantime, it is not very clever for these sites to offer fake tutorials because people in a hurry could try the adventure and end up with bricked phone, for a long time.
In any case, I hope that a formal and tested procedure will see the day soon, that we can have a little fun!

Has anybody managed to get a Viper4Android Magisk module working on the P20 Pro yet?
Can someone explain me better the flash method ?
I have a P20 pro (CLT-L29) build 8.1.0.107(C432). european version.
Now to root I download the package.
I've already unlock the bootloader.
How to do other Step to flash ?
I see the photo. They are in magisk manager ?
or I must flash in a powershell on my PC ?

Nope the photo shows Magisk working already.
You'll need to fastboot flash ramdisk imagename.img
Also ill patch P20 ramdisk (yeah forgot I had it on mega)

It's not working on my Huawei P20 CLT-L29 C432 running EMUI 8.1.0
Unlocking the Bootloader works as described using the obtained unique unlocking code but after patching the .img file there doesn't seem to be root/SU available on my device. I would stay away from this as of now!

I don't see the point in upgrading at this stage.
No TWRP available for October patch.

Quick question, doesn't bootloader and modem get flashed through their respective slots? Or do you flash the whole Firmware (5files)?

Some people like me already upgraded. I won't probably modify my phone until Samsung stops providing updates or until i get tired of it lol
@Agrim720
I guess that you took U3 update boot.img and patched it with Magisk, right?

About that, i found this thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-9/development/one-ui-2-0-t4012447
This is still in beta but it wouĺd be worth keeping an eye on it. Don't know if it would be compatible with our phone, though.

Looks interesting
I want to be sure I am using the correct firmware for this patch. It is for October right ?
Can anyone tell me if this is the correct firm to use for this boot.img patch ?
AP_A205GUBU3ASJ4_CL16481871_QB26582749_REV00_user_low_ship_meta_OS9.tar
Or maybe this is the Oct release ?

Thank you !

Ok thank you for the info. BTW -- I just noticed that they are pushing NOV UpDate to my phone.
I just lost Root on my last update, so I might try this ... but I assume if I update to Nov then I can
NOT GO BACK to a lower version and I can not get Root ? Am I correct ??

Oh ? I must be confused again Would I use the boot.img from this thread we are in now ? the October Patch ? Even though it is
a November update ? and do you know if TWRP will instal also ?
So I would just allow them to push the update to my phone, then start the root process again with your boot.img via Odin. ?
Thank you for your help.
