Hi people, I'm a noob
Anyway, I just installed the latest HTC Revolution HD ROM which gives the Sensation XE for the normal Sensation. It's great. But then I discovered that I'm having the hardware problem. I need to send my phone back to the HTC support and let them fix. However, since I've just rooted it, I lose my warranty. And I need to restore my phone back to my original stock ROM.
BUT, I don't know what's my original stock ROM was.... anyway to find out? I live in Thailand, I downloaded the Asia WWE ROM, doesn't work.... So I really need help now....
Thank you very much...
What's the CID of the phone?
surely as long as it's a stock version on the phone you should be ok? or has that all changed now from the old Windows Mobile days when you just had to security lock it and stick an official ROM back on to hide all traces of being hacked?
Different regions have different versions, and then on top of that you have operator versions - a lot more than WinMo
Im sorry to ask this, but how to check Srnsation CID?
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using XDA App
Reboot into fastboot, and make sure you have the android SDK (adb, fastboot, etc.) and use command prompt to navigate to wherever you have the android sdk saved. Type fastboot getvar cid and it will read your cid.
Mine is T-MOB010, (tmous), my stock version that came on the phone was 1.29.xx I believe, but an OTA immediately updated me to 1.45.xx. Unless of course you have a Sensation XE, in which case I believe it's 1.73. But that's tmobile US, I don't think you have tmobile us, so check your CID.
Specifically your stock ROM is 1.29.531.2, there may be other 1.29.xxx.x RUUs so always best to be specific to avoid confusion
The current stock XE RUU is 1.73.401.2

Do i need to run CID on adb to restore my phone to stock. Im on tmous also and i have the ota update before i root and flash my phone, but i need to restore it back to out of the box condition so i can send it also for warranty. Im a super noob and not really a techy guy so im asking for your help on the steps to restore my phone. I have read most of the threads and some of them are too confusing for a noob like me. From what I understand is i have to run adb to change my CID then download the correct RUU.exe for Tmous. Do i really need to run the adb and go straight to run RUU? Thanks in advance and sorry to question you so much.

If s-off you can. But not sure that's necessary as once s-off you could flash the intl firmware and then a custom intl (stock rom). If you attempt to fully convert by changing mid and cid and then ruu you likely won't succeed. There's more to it than that.

So this is usually what happens. I can help you back out of it if you want using teamviewer if you are game. The partitions from a Verizon to a sprint to an intl m8 aren't the same. That's the problem.

yes I am, the thing is, i'm on mac os x. adb and fastboot cmd are working great but if you plan to use shell cmd I'm not sure it will work though
I think The same happened to me
I'm bringing this over from the HTC One help thread as instructed
I'm on Metropcs and wanted an HTC One GPE
Bought an unlocked verizon HTC One M8
Rooted it with kingroot, then unlocked the bootloader and s-off with sunshine.
Was in the process of changing the model id by flashing it with Golv's MID changer when the usb cord was pulled from the computer (I'll take that to the appropriate thread for THAT discussion)
Now the phone only comes up in bootloader mode, but I have no options (reset, reboot etc) it only says RUU where my options were.
ADB won't detect the phone however fastboot will and when I do fastboot getvar all I seem to have all the original stuff. (Except the CID has been changed to GOOGL001)
I can fastboot reboot-bootloader but the screen comes up as if I did fastboot oem rebootRUU except that there is a triangle in each corner of the screen with an exclamation mark in them.
Yes this is my first time trying anything like this.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

ok, so let's do it then
seems like finally I figure out how to fix it. I was able to bring back the verizon's MID by using the shell command and then flash a verizon's rom and firmware without any issues
Fixed it!

Thanks so much for your offer, but someone told me about another post of yours using ruuM8_TWRP_2_7.zip and that solved it! So either way you're a great help!
Now is there a way I can get this phone's hotspot to work on the Metropcs plan? (That's what started this debacle)
I recently updated my HTC One A9 to the new Marshmallow 6.01 version and now the wifi does not work at all (missing wifi module (8)) and the battery is at 4000%. My software number is 1.56.709.70, i believe this is the taiwan variant but it is unlocked. How do I fix this? Please help, do I flash an ruu or something? How do I know which ruu works for this phone?
if your A9 is S-ON you have to search for a signed RUU with your software number (1.56.709.70).
You may also try to factory-reset your phone in download mode
If nothing helps you can unlock and S-Off your phone - after that you are able to flash any RUU
I have been doing a lot of reading up on changing the branding/region of the U11 and think I have the steps worked out. Would just like
someone who has done this to comment on if it seems right to them.
So Going from DUGL India to DUGL EMEA I would
1. Install sunshine for s-off so I can change the CID, current MID is the same as EMEA.
2. Change CID from download mode, fastboot oem writecid HTC__034
3. Download and install EMEA ruu
Thanks, MadMungo
Well I had time to give it a go and was successful. I am now on the (HTC__001) EMEA dual sim firmware from the (HTC__060) Indian dual sim firmware.
If anyone else wants to give it a go it was real simple, I just followed the following steps
1. Install sunshine for s-off to change the CID.
1a. Download EMEA RUU and copy to root of SD card and rename to 2PZCIMG.zip
2. run Sunshine to boot into s-off download mode,
2a. Change CID by running fastboot oem writecid HTC__001 on PC
2b. press Volume Down button to cancel RUU update and check CID = HTC__001
3. select reboot to Download Mode
3a. press Volume Up button to confirm flash of RUU
4. Once phone has been rebooted enjoy setting up new phone on EMEA firmware.
hope this helps someone else out there.

Nice little guide mate. May I make a suggestion though. The better CID if one lives in central Europe would be HTC__034 as far as I remember.

Hey, I am in Australia and bought the phone from overseas vendor as it was cheaper and I needed a dual sim phone so I didn't have to carry 2 phones around. I now have a different job and don't have a need for dual sims I was wondering if it is possible to set the phone up as a single sim by changing the CID to one of either HTC__001 Prefered, (HTC__M27, HTC__002, HTC__034 Optional) and the MID to 2PZC10000.

Hey,
Thanks for the help and the guide. I was trying to do exactly the same thing.
I got stuck at the final stage. I was trying to SD card flash one of the combined nowipe firmware zips (https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=817906626617943112) and I get an error 10 when flashing, which makes no sense because the MID on my phone and in the zip are both correct. CID changed successfully and checked. S-OFF all ok and booted using sunshine before trying to flash the firmware.
any ideas? perhaps I am trying to flash the wrong thing and I have to do a full RUU flash somehow? Trying to avoid this because running leedroid rom and am lazy to setup again.
thanks for any ideas, Russ

Russ,
Sorry to here you are having troubles. I am just a user, no technical knowledge but will try to help.
As far as I can tell from reading various posts on this, you will need to flash to the latest stock RUU, https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=745425885120762674 . Then you can flash the OTA http://fotadl-az.htc.com/secure/OTA_OCEAN_DUGL_N71_SENSE90GP_HTC_Europe_1.27.401.11-1.27.401.5_release_512994zou8hacebhmotmqg.zip using the original stock recovery, no need to be S-OFF for OTA flash.
Unfortunately you will then need to start with leedroid rom all over again.
Maybe one of the more technical guys could help you if you ask in the Firmware collection How-To Thread
thought that might be the case, thanks for the reply, much obliged.
HTC U11 India Oreo update:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/u11/how-to/collection-htcu-u11-ruu-firmware-t3612048/page99
Can we try something similar with the HTC TW ROM. I am guess its CID is 80.
I am guessing that the TW ROMs would receive updates from HTC before other regions.
Any inputs will be appreciated
Thank you!
Oreo update for the u11 EMEA from nougat 1.27.401.11

Unlock bootloader via htc dev website.
Flash twrp.
Flash magisk
Buy s-off for $25 via sunshine.
Change cid to BS_001
Flash 1.xx.617.xx firmware (same version as you already have running on the phone but 617 region).
Update to oreo via ota.
Job done.
You will need the htc_fastboot.exe that is specifically made by htc for flashing. You can find it all over the m9 forums or on Google.
Thanks

Well, there's an OTA Update that will take you straight to Oreo from the version you're currently on. No need to unlock bootloader or anything else. It's there in this thread
You wouldn't lose any data either, but just take a backup nonetheless.

Is there any particular reason why you wanted to (and subsequently) move(d) from Indian region to EMEA (I am guessing 1 reason to be quicker OTA updates). As far as I know, the Indian ROM doesn't have any bloatware.
That said, if there are any advantages (in terms of performance/battery life/etc) do let us know and I will move too. he he!
SKU 401 is already an EMEA device. He seems to try to change to US Unlocked unless I don't know for what that might be good. In addition this will probably keep to problems on further updates, as he can't change the confirmation of the variant from DUGL to WHL as this won't be altered by S-OFF or any step that could and might be taken.
I'd stay on Indian version 1.27.401.11 and await the upcoming Oreo update.

Thanks all, but I guess will just wait for the Oreo update for the HTC U11 EMEA from nougat 1.27.401.11 coz I don't seem to find it on the links posted earlier. I don't understand y HTC doesn't just post the RUUs for each CID so that we can do it ourselves coz it seems not to be able to keep up with either the demand or it's own promises
Hi everyone! I'm having trouble updating my U12+, I'm still on the base ROM 1.15.401.4 HTC__002 S-ON. Whenever I try updating thru wifi I'm always getting this error (Please refer to the attached image). I also downloaded the RUU file transferred to my SD card and tried flashing thru download mode but it doesn't work. Instead I also got an error message saying CID mismatched. Can someone helped me on this? I'm not a newbie and not so advanced as well. A support is much appreciated. Thanks!
I also attached the screenshot of my U12+ when tried flashing thru RUU with SD card
Where are you getting your RUU zip file from? Are extracting it from the RUU exe file listed on the Google spreadsheet? Did you try another version of the RUU? I needed to use an earlier version of the RUU than what was originally on my phone in order for my phone to take the flash and boot up. From there I was able to use the system menu software update to receive the OTA updates until my phone had the latest OS version.
Good luck.

HTC__002 is the CID that belongs to demo devices. These devices aren't meant to be sold and therefore not meant to be used normally.
Older HTC demo devices were supported by the 401 RUUs. It looks like that isn't the case with the U12+, anymore.

Yeah someone sold it to me online, initially, it was fine but after setting up the device then Demo came up. So I was trying to flash a custom recovery on the device so I can access the system app and remove it. However today I was able to flash a TWRP recovery, unfortunately, OS got wiped out and no idea how did it happen. I downloaded the custom ROM of Pyrana and I overlooked that I have to be on the updated firmware which the 1.30.401.2. I flashed, then boom! wifi doesn't work anymore.
Try to S-OFF your phone with Sunshine and change your CID to HTC__034 , than you should be able to flash the european RUU.
