HI all,
Attached is a OTA file for direct OTA update to B211 from B029. Note that you must be on B029 to be able to update and as usual, no root and no custom recovery.
Enjoy.

How does it run ? Worth it? Stable?
Will we get future updates if we do this ?
Thanks very much!

Yes, it is. But it's a massive step back from B029. Battery time shortened, microlaggs, some other cosmetical issues. I reverted back to B029.
Sent from my HUAWEI P8max using XDA-Developers mobile app
when i close apps like Whatsapp and Viper from Multitasking, i no longer receive notifications from them.
even with these steps:
1) Go to: Settings - Apps - Advanced (gear) - Ignore optimizations
2) On top choose "All apps" and than choose "Allowed" for each application you want to receive notification from.
3) Go to Settings - Permission manager, and select "Trust this app" and "App auto-launch" for each application you want to receive notification from.
4) Start all applications that you need notification from, than go to task manager (square at the bottom of the screen) and PULL DOWN application thumbnail. Small lock will appear on the top of the thumbnail and application will be kept in the phone memory all the time.
5) Restart the phone.
once i remove the app from multitasking, it shows me "stopped" under its name in settings.
any possible solution for this?
this was happening before on B029 too.
in b211 you can drag the apps down in the multitasking thing --> means apps stay open whene you close all apps.
this is saved after reboot too and notifications will work.

b211 is crap. Terrible battery life and notification problems...
How do you flash back b029. I put the b029 Stock downloaded from HUAWEI on the SD card and got an error.
My P8max (703L) is fully stock.
I do get extraction errors with any version I download but the file seems legit.
Any advice?
Thanks,
Ehud

I have a rooted and flashed Boost Moto G on Page Plus. Viper did the flash at the beginning of the year and he is telling me it is not a permanent flash but instead an older one.
I am on Kitkat 4.4.2 and a month ago my phone downloaded the 4.4.4 update file. Now every 24 hours I am prompted to install the update and have to continually postpone it. OTA updates are disabled so the phone will not install if I consent. I just want the notification to go away, I am happy with the phone and don't care if I update or not.
I'll take any method that removes the notification and hopefully does not ruin my flash...

I have the solution for you. Download this then go under Google Services Framework and uncheck SystemUpdateService:good:
@nomar116 .... Alternatively you could just use your file manager to navigate to .... /cache .... and delete the 4.4.4 update file.

Thanks for the quick replies guys. Unfortunately I pulled up Google Services Framework and it was already unchecked. I waited to make sure the notification would still come back and it did.

I explored to the cache folder and found the following file Blur_Version.173.44.20.falcon_cdma.Verizon.en.US.zip.
This surprised me since I looked that file up and it is a 4.4.2 update file and I thought the phone was trying to update itself to 4.4.4?? The phone is already on 4.4.2...? Anyway, I'm going to go ahead and delete that file and see where that gets me. Thanks for the help

The real solution is:
Go to /system/priv-app , find 3c_ota.apk and delete/move/revoke permissions or change its extension (any of these will work). Then reboot and you'll never get the nagging notification again.

Thank you. I had seen one of your previous posts with this resolution but could not find the file. I changed the extension to 3c_ota.apk.bin , hopefully I'm in the clear!

HELPFUL HINTS
YOU MUST HAVE EITHER DONE THE OTA OR DLOAD TO B201, B209 OR B211 BEFORE FLASHING ANY VERSIONS HIGHER THAN B112 OF THIS ROM. YOU ALSO NEED TO BE ON THE NEWEST TWRP FOR EMUI 4.0 BEFORE YOU FLASH ANY B201 OR HIGHER CUSTOM ROM. IF YOU HAVEN'T DONE THIS PLEASE DO SO. IF YOU DON'T AND ENCOUNTER ANY WEIRD BUGS I CANNOT HELP YOU.
To remove the Chinese writing on the statusbar and lockscreen go into settings-->K-settings-->Lockscreen and desktop settings and turn off Lunar calendar & Desktop weather lunar, then go back and into Notification settings and turn off Show statusbar lunar
You may have to open SuperSU and allow KangVIP Tools if K-settings doesn't open
Set the DPI to 325 or higher or else Chrome tabs won't work and YouTube will force close when going into subscriptions
To stop background apps from closing after 1-2 minutes freeze or delete HwPowerGenieEngine from system/app.

No, not really. You get double tap to wake, automatic call recording, the camera flash flashes when you get a phone call (you can turn that on or off) status bar mods (remove clock, center clock etc..) there are a bunch of things. I had it installed on my original X2 which I sold and it was awesome. I'm waiting for my unlock code for my new X2 so I can flash this. Then I'll list all of the features in the OP.

You can try it if you're unlocked and have TWRP installed. I'm not sure that it works with the 701L. I don't have a 701L to test it. It probably won't boot on your 701L.

The best way is to flash back to stock B015 in Fastboot then take the OTA to B106 then download B107 and manually flash it. Then download B108 and manually flash that. Then install TWRP again and flash B108SP01 KangVIP.
Updated the OP with a link to KangVIP-B106.
Thanks to the DC-unlocker posts, I finally was able to unlock the bootloader on my new 32GB x2 (yes, I'll be selling my 16GB model now). After installing TWRP, I flashed this ROM, since I didn't want to deal with all the incremental upgrades. Unfortunately, I can't get the Double Tap to wake to work. I downloaded the apk file, and it installed just fine. However, when I open it, I get a pop-up in Chinese that only gives me one option to click. When I click it, the app closes immediately. I've tried reinstalling it, but I get the same result. I tried restoring the stock B106 image I had saved using TWRP, but the Double Tap doesn't work on it either. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the file, but unfortunately, it didn't work. I still click "OK", and then the program closes goes back to my home screen. When I press the recent apps button (or whatever it's called), I see that the program is still running. If I go back into it and click "OK" again, the same thing happens. I think I may flash b106, then flash b106sp1. My previous X2 didn't work with Double Tap until I upgraded to b106sp1, so maybe this one will have the same result.

I have to say, this phone can be incredibly frustrating. My 16GB version had an issue when I installed TWRP that caused it would boot straight into TWRP until I flashed the stock recovery, at which point I could boot into the system. If I need TWRP, I'd flash it, use it, and then flash the stock recovery to get back into the system.
Moving on, with my new 32GB model, I was able to use TWRP with no issues, but Double Tap wouldn't work in KangVIP B108. So I flashed back to stock B106, then flashed B106SP1, which was the way I got Double Tap to work on my 16gb model. After flashing B106SP1, Double Tap started working. However, now I can't get TWRP flashed correctly. I've tried using fastboot on both my Mac and a Windows VM on my Mac. Every time, it says it flashed correctly, but when I attempt to access recovery, I get the stock recovery. This happens whether I use "adb reboot recovery" or if I shut down and reboot while holding the Volume Up button.
Here's a copy from Terminal on my Mac:
****MacBook: platform-tools ****$ ./fastboot flash recovery/Users/****/Downloads/X2_TWRP_CN_5.1.1_kangvip/RECOVERY_HW.img
target reported max download size of 471859200 bytes
sending 'recovery' (32336 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.689s]
writing 'recovery'...
OKAY [ 0.802s]
finished. total time: 1.492s
I'm almost at my wit's end with these phones. I'm currently using a Nexus 5 as my "stable" phone, but I'd love to get back to the X2. This is easily one of my favorite smartphones I've ever had, and the battery life is amazing. However, I'm getting close to getting rid of the 32GB model and just waiting to see what comes out in the not-to-distant future from some other manufacturers.
Sorry for the rant.
The recovery_hw.img, is that what you're trying to flash to get TWRP? That's the stock Huawei recovery. You need to flash this:
https://docviewer.yandex.com/?url=ya-disk-public%3A%2F%2FvI5Y3Obeku4qzIrtHfPviJPL3yhTpSABBi9V4fM0UpU%3D%3A%2FRecovery%2FTWRP%2FX2_TWRP_CN_5.1.1_kangvip.rar&name=X2_TWRP_CN_5.1.1_kangvip.rar&c=56172ee53f9c
That's the newest TWRP.
My advice would be to flash to stock B106. Then flash KangVIP B106. Then install the double tap to wake app and it will work. Enable it and you're good to go. It works on B106.
Like you, I also own a Nexus. (Nexus 6) It's fun playing with Marshmallow but I like the X2 more than any other phone I've ever used. It took me a while to get everything figured out but it's awesome now.

Reading is fundamental, I suppose. After your question (as I assume was your intent), it occurred to me to go back and check to see if there were any additional .img files in the folder. Flashed the twrp_cn.img file, and amazingly (sigh) everything worked. It definitely helps when you flash the right file! I guess that's what happens when you try flashing too late at night/too early in the morning. Thanks again!

I am currently running "[5.1.1] Simply Google **02/13/2016**" can I flash this directly? or do I have to pre-upgrade to B201?

You have to update to B201 first.
Ok thanks for the info, so basically I install "Full Stock B201 GEM-702L Huawei ROM" and then flash one of the "B201 International Rooted*" Images
I hate to ask such a noob question. What is odexing? Why would I prefer it over de-odexed or vice versa? Thank you.

It's the 702L Beta firmware but doesn't seem to have any bugs or issues from what i've seen. If you have a 703L already on B209 or B211 you can just flash this rom. If you have a stock 702L on Android 5.1.1 then you have to dload the stock rom to update to B201 then flash this rom.
Ok i have a GEM 703L and my Firmware is B209,i test this Rom.
Thanks Man
Hi Aj
Can I ask you a very simple (prob stupid) question?
You said: "They should work on any model of X2 provided you're already on B201 or higher".
Unfortunately I'm at B003 (ancient version). How do I get to B201 to then move to Marshmallow?

Hi.. I've recently got the mediapad x2 701L.
I used to be pretty good on mod and stuff with my nokia n900 and similar but since android I stopped.
I'm pretty happy with this device but im stuck with android 5.0 b003.
I would like to move to marshmellow ans if I understood correcly I need first to upgrade to 5.1 isn't it?
Can I do it with the 701version instead than 702/703? If I can where dp I find the full guide?
Thanks a lot for your help
i think you must wait to Rollout MM for 701L
I have 703L and test to flash this Rom from 5.1.1,but theX2 not boot.
This Rom works only with MM installed
Hi, thanks for sharing this. I tried it but personally prefer the tweaks from K-VIP. Now that I went back to the K-Vip 209 slim ROM my info is displayed correctly but the actual storage in the file explorer says I have 2.3 GB free. Is there a cust I have to flash to correct this?
I had installed the deodexed.
Thanks!

I included all the cust folders in this so i'm not sure why your phone would display incorrect information,

Yeah, it's weird. Maybe going back to Kang up from this causes some sort of overwrite or something. I even flashed the cust for 209 after re installing kangvip from your other post and still shows the same. I will re do the whole update process again tomorrow hoping to solve this.
The are the screen shots of what I described above. Weird...

You may have to flash the stock rom through fastboot (boot, cache, system, recovery, cust, userdata) then go into Settings-->Advanced Settings-->Backup & Reset and do a Factory Data reset. It happens to me all the time when I dload, I always have to remember to do that or it sees my internal storage as wrong like yours.

Original thread in chineese with changelog and screenshot (it's sloooooow).
Use chrome or google translate.
Kangvip 171 with K settings
Tried that already. More bloatware than huawei+google together. A mess...
Did tried it for 30 minutes and deleted. Maybe preinstalled magisk and K settings are cool, but no thank You.
So it is the Chinese ROM with battery setting crashing
Gotcha
Concerning the chinese bloatware.
You can always install Titanium Backup and freeze all china apps (with chineese letters).
Don't uninstall, but freeze (for avoiding conflicts).
And voila you have get rid of bloatware.
After that you can install Google Play Store from apkmirror.
The rom from official chineese thread IS full chinese.
But the rom posted here, and via 4pda are fully translated.
So, overall the rom is amazing. One of the best for our p20 pro.

Download Rom and install it via Twrp after full wipe (system, data, cache and dalvik)
Rom has a lot of Chinese bloatware, you can freeze it by titanium backup.
Thanks. I heard there are lot of bugs. Is that true? Any major bugs you came across?

I will try to upload to google drive, but i am running out of storage space, so I will delete the file after 1 week.
Here is the google drive mirror
Note about the rom:
1. It is finally rooted, just remember to set in magisk manager the update channel to custom (and put the link of canary build)
2. Titanium manager is a bit tricky, because at installation stage you must give all the permisssions, and before running it, you must set in magisk manager the root perrmission to prompt (with grant it won't be recognized)
3. you can get rid finally of all bloatware cn apps.

Hello, I updated my phone to the miui fold 13.1.21. It says that it has updates to the display while folded but do not see any changes. Anyone know what this update has? Thanks
I got the notification that the update was available, but I'm rooted with Magisk and when I tried to proceed with the instructions to preserve root by "uninstall magisk / restore images", I'm confronted with the "stock backup does not exist" so I'm not sure what to do next.
AndroPlus said:

Ignore "After restoring stock images", since other devices can't receive OTA before do that (updater detects root and block OTA) but Xiaomi allows OTA download even when rooted.

AndroPlus: Thank you very much! I googled "Magisk stock backup does not exist" for hours and none of the articles mentioned that you can just ignore "after restoring stock images" on Xiaomi devices. You are a genius. It worked like a charm! The offical Magisk OTA guide should include your information.

One of my issues with this device was that the font on the folded screen was so small that emails and text messages were almost too small for me to read. If I unfolded the phone the font was much larger and more readable. Now, after applying this update, the font on the folded screen is much larger and much more readable.
With this update you now have the option to "swipe up to continue" with app when folded.
If anyone knows a way to force and update please let me know. I've used a VPN to change my location to China, India, etc and still get that no update is available.
when I try to flash manually in the app after downloading the file I get this message:
"miui couldn't verify update package update via usb instead"
I just need to know how I can get the update or flash the file without losing root in magisk and my data. thanks

Not sure I'd be brave enough to try this, but you can look it over:

Updates are pushed to devices by IMEI number. I got my device the day it was released, so it will hit other devices shortly. There are no major improvements with this incremental update that I noticed other than the display (font size) on the folded screen and the new option to require a swipe when going from unfolded to folded. Are you placing the full Recovery ROM or the incremental update .zip into the update/incremental_OTA folder? Maybe try downloading from a different source. You can use the MIUI Downloader app available on the PlayStore to get the Recovery ROM or incremental OTA directly from the Xiaomi servers.

with this module it works perfectly now, just finished updating.
all you do is download the update file yourself and then you no longer get that error with this module.
just flash and follow the instructions you posted, install magisk after OTA and reboot. all good
So you can teach an old dog new tricks!
