03-22-18: Some cust changes. Added more themes, made a few small changes to build.prop. Updated all apps to the latest versions. Updated SuperSU to the latest 2.82. The rom should feel a little bit faster now.
03-26-18: Some more cust changes. This should limit the differences in functionality between the different variants.
07-04-18: Reverted some cust changes. Fixed SuperSU to avoid feeezing apps. Updated Play Services & Play Store. Removed pre-installed Xposed as you can install it by flashing the Xposed zip if you want. Optimized for speed and battery life.
12-28-19: Rebased to B230, Updated Google Apps and some other apps. Fixed Play Store force close at boot up. Magisk pre patched boot image. HELPFUL HINTS
YOU MUST HAVE EITHER DONE THE OTA OR DLOAD TO B201, B209 OR B211 BEFORE FLASHING ANY VERSIONS HIGHER THAN B112 OF THIS ROM. YOU ALSO NEED TO BE ON THE NEWEST TWRP FOR EMUI 4.0 BEFORE YOU FLASH ANY B201 OR HIGHER CUSTOM ROM. IF YOU HAVEN'T DONE THIS PLEASE DO SO. IF YOU DON'T AND ENCOUNTER ANY WEIRD BUGS I CANNOT HELP YOU.
To remove the Chinese writing on the statusbar and lockscreen go into settings-->K-settings-->Lockscreen and desktop settings and turn off Lunar calendar & Desktop weather lunar, then go back and into Notification settings and turn off Show statusbar lunar
You may have to open SuperSU and allow KangVIP Tools if K-settings doesn't open
Set the DPI to 325 or higher or else Chrome tabs won't work and YouTube will force close when going into subscriptions
To stop background apps from closing after 1-2 minutes freeze or delete HwPowerGenieEngine from system/app.

Yes, you get double tap to wake and a ton of more features that I'll add to the OP.

Why do you have to be on stock b108 to flash this? It's Kangvip custom rom.
I'm on Kangvip B015 custom rom. I should be able to flash now.

Flash it then and let me know how it goes. You may have issues with things like the dual SIMS if you don't update to B108 first.

You can try it if you're unlocked and have TWRP installed. I'm not sure that it works with the 701L. I don't have a 701L to test it. It probably won't boot on your 701L.

The best way is to flash back to stock B015 in Fastboot then take the OTA to B106 then download B107 and manually flash it. Then download B108 and manually flash that. Then install TWRP again and flash B108SP01 KangVIP.

Thanks to the DC-unlocker posts, I finally was able to unlock the bootloader on my new 32GB x2 (yes, I'll be selling my 16GB model now). After installing TWRP, I flashed this ROM, since I didn't want to deal with all the incremental upgrades. Unfortunately, I can't get the Double Tap to wake to work. I downloaded the apk file, and it installed just fine. However, when I open it, I get a pop-up in Chinese that only gives me one option to click. When I click it, the app closes immediately. I've tried reinstalling it, but I get the same result. I tried restoring the stock B106 image I had saved using TWRP, but the Double Tap doesn't work on it either. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the file, but unfortunately, it didn't work. I still click "OK", and then the program closes goes back to my home screen. When I press the recent apps button (or whatever it's called), I see that the program is still running. If I go back into it and click "OK" again, the same thing happens. I think I may flash b106, then flash b106sp1. My previous X2 didn't work with Double Tap until I upgraded to b106sp1, so maybe this one will have the same result.

Just flash regular B106 then KangVIP B106, I know double tap to wake works on KangVIP B106 because that's what I'm running.

I have to say, this phone can be incredibly frustrating. My 16GB version had an issue when I installed TWRP that caused it would boot straight into TWRP until I flashed the stock recovery, at which point I could boot into the system. If I need TWRP, I'd flash it, use it, and then flash the stock recovery to get back into the system.
Moving on, with my new 32GB model, I was able to use TWRP with no issues, but Double Tap wouldn't work in KangVIP B108. So I flashed back to stock B106, then flashed B106SP1, which was the way I got Double Tap to work on my 16gb model. After flashing B106SP1, Double Tap started working. However, now I can't get TWRP flashed correctly. I've tried using fastboot on both my Mac and a Windows VM on my Mac. Every time, it says it flashed correctly, but when I attempt to access recovery, I get the stock recovery. This happens whether I use "adb reboot recovery" or if I shut down and reboot while holding the Volume Up button.
Here's a copy from Terminal on my Mac:

I'm almost at my wit's end with these phones. I'm currently using a Nexus 5 as my "stable" phone, but I'd love to get back to the X2. This is easily one of my favorite smartphones I've ever had, and the battery life is amazing. However, I'm getting close to getting rid of the 32GB model and just waiting to see what comes out in the not-to-distant future from some other manufacturers.

The recovery_hw.img, is that what you're trying to flash to get TWRP? That's the stock Huawei recovery. You need to flash this:

That's the newest TWRP.
My advice would be to flash to stock B106. Then flash KangVIP B106. Then install the double tap to wake app and it will work. Enable it and you're good to go. It works on B106.
Like you, I also own a Nexus. (Nexus 6) It's fun playing with Marshmallow but I like the X2 more than any other phone I've ever used. It took me a while to get everything figured out but it's awesome now.

Reading is fundamental, I suppose. After your question (as I assume was your intent), it occurred to me to go back and check to see if there were any additional .img files in the folder. Flashed the twrp_cn.img file, and amazingly (sigh) everything worked. It definitely helps when you flash the right file! I guess that's what happens when you try flashing too late at night/too early in the morning. Thanks again!

HELPFUL TIPS
-To help prevent apps from not showing notifications move them from data/app to system/app and set the proper permissions. (rwxr-xr-x for folders and rw-r--r-- for apk's)
-To remove any Chinese writing on the date in the statusbar go to Settings-K-Settings-Notification Settings and disable status bar lunar
-To remove any Chinese writing on the lockscreen go to Settings-K-Settings-Lockscreen and desktop settings and disable Lunar calendar & Desktop weather lunar.
-To add additional Google accounts go to Settings-->Advanced Settings-->Backup & Reset-->Make sure Back up my data is on. Then tap Backup Account and hit add account.
-When using the DPI changer in K-Settings do not use the stock Huawei App Layout option to change DPI. They don't play nicely together.

Right now I use the Chinese Version and removed the Bloatware there and rooted it with SuperSU and all works right now.
What are the difference from yours and the Chinese one?

What is wrong with xposed? What doesn't work? If you can't get the framework to activate, go into xposed settings and check the box that says Disabled Resource Hooks, then restart.
Allready tried it.
Everytime I want to download a module it chrashes and android shows me that xposed service hast stopped.
Had the same problem with play store, everytime i wanted to start it and enter my account it says that google play service hast stopped.
Now i use the KangVIP from the Chinese forum and xposed is working.

Sorry i didnt downloaded from the Huawei App Store...It came with google installed from Vickmall...and they still work fine after 2 updates.

Well on The 701L the Google apps are already installed. On the Chinese one you must install custom Google apps in the Huawei Store.

Here are stock rooted deodexed roms based off of the latest GEM-702L International ROM. These come with all of the Google Apps and no Chinese apps and much more. They should work on any model of X2 as long as you're already on B201 or higher. Your feedback is appreciated.

You have to update to B201 first.

It's the 702L Beta firmware but doesn't seem to have any bugs or issues from what i've seen. If you have a 703L already on B209 or B211 you can just flash this rom. If you have a stock 702L on Android 5.1.1 then you have to dload the stock rom to update to B201 then flash this rom.

Hi.. I've recently got the mediapad x2 701L.
I used to be pretty good on mod and stuff with my nokia n900 and similar but since android I stopped.
I'm pretty happy with this device but im stuck with android 5.0 b003.
I would like to move to marshmellow ans if I understood correcly I need first to upgrade to 5.1 isn't it?
Can I do it with the 701version instead than 702/703? If I can where dp I find the full guide?

Hi, thanks for sharing this. I tried it but personally prefer the tweaks from K-VIP. Now that I went back to the K-Vip 209 slim ROM my info is displayed correctly but the actual storage in the file explorer says I have 2.3 GB free. Is there a cust I have to flash to correct this?

Yeah, it's weird. Maybe going back to Kang up from this causes some sort of overwrite or something. I even flashed the cust for 209 after re installing kangvip from your other post and still shows the same. I will re do the whole update process again tomorrow hoping to solve this.

You may have to flash the stock rom through fastboot (boot, cache, system, recovery, cust, userdata) then go into Settings-->Advanced Settings-->Backup & Reset and do a Factory Data reset. It happens to me all the time when I dload, I always have to remember to do that or it sees my internal storage as wrong like yours.

How to install first time (even if you come from Epic Rom Pro weekly 7.X.X.X)
Download ZIP below (download center)
Reboot - recovery (power + volume up)
Make a full backup of your current ROM and copy it to your computer to prevent issues (even make a EFS backup!!)
Wipe: Dalvik, Cache, Data, System (DO NOT WIPE USERDATA)
Install ZIP Rom (you don't need to be root to install it).
**IMPORTANT ADVISE: Sometines TWRP have issues installing .zip and get Error 7. If this happend, please reinstall ROM twice. In the second try, TWRP will can install without problems. i know i shouldn't have done it, but hey why not... its only miui base system not android 6 to 7 change in this build, i've inplace updated to new 8.2 base...
look good sofar only issue i have so far is that the miui gallery and notes (i don't use this but still pops up?) is crashing... any change to fix this? is there any cache i can delete?
edit: crash log shows that gallery tries to downgrade "database from 87 to 84" ...

ok fixed the gallery and notes issue...
started twrp and modified following files with filemanager:
for gallery:
rename/delete /data/data/com.miui.gallery/databases/gallery.db (new file will be created on first gallery launch after that...)
for notes:
rename/delete /data/data/com.miui.notes/databaes/note.db

hey guys sorry ik now this is wrong but i am trying to flash global rom (not epic) on locked bootloader. Howerver i tried all method and none worked. Please help. I rebooted to recovery mode but there is no menu, just an icon and link pcsuite.mi.com
The region settings doesn't stick. I can change it to US but once I reboot phone, it goes back to China. Also, I can't install Google phone and contacts app from Playstore. Also can't restore from Titanium backup.
For titanium backup you need to enable developer options then turn on "install from usb"
Also you'll have to confirm each individual app restore.
Haven't played around more to see if it can be bypassed.

Has anyone done dirty flash from 8.0.12.0.MAHCNDI Official? Just curious if that'd work, don't feel like loosing and re-configuring about a thousand system tweaks.

Anyone know if it would really hurt to delete Xiaomi Service Framework? I don't use any of the Xiaomi services, and I'm in the united States.
Would freezing it or deleting render the phone inoperable?

Just freeze it, the phone will work just fine.
I've had it frozen disabled for months now, using the EU ROM & now GlobeROM.
Once you have your phone set to your liking, you'll see if you actually need it or not.
I think it may affect some items that one may not naturally attribute to XSF, that's why I highly recommend just freezing/disabling it vs deleting it altogether.

What is the icon in the upper right corner of the notification bar? I haven't seen that previously on any roms. I want to get rid of it..but I don't even know what it is so it's kinda hard to do.

Is there any way to get rid of that?
Anybody have problem installing Google phone and contact apps from playstore? My device is showing "uncertified" in the settings of the playstore. I guess this is preventing the installation of google mobile service (GMS) apps.

You have to flash the zip file to restore to normal status bar. You can download from OTA section in the settings then flash via TWRP
You can install xposed and mod it with xMiui or extMiui or mini tweaks

The rom is excellent, pretty much everything is fixed, i can now connect my gear s3 properly too,
one big problem , UK region not available? cant seem to find it the list

this one is with miui global rom base 8.2.1.0 ... the other one is ah mix from china&dev-global rom on 7.x base...

i would really love to know what to be deleted on "sdcard" instead reformating it complettly... it could only be some hidden file i guess? but can't be that hard to delete this manually...
Yet again, all thanks go to @jrkruse for this one. I have modified his zip to work on the Verizon S7 flat. The ROM is silky smooth since it uses the factory kernel. The instructions have been tweaked to work for the Flat. I can confirm that SafetyNet passes using this method.
A MASSIVE thanks goes to @hunteditor for this. I haven't been around XDA much these past few weeks and haven't made a new thread for the U-ROM. It has been long overdue. He took on the annoyance of modifying the instructions and download links to work.

1) Unzip G930UUEU4BQD2_G930UOYM4BQD2_VZW.zip. Boot the phone into download mode (volume down, home, and power) then flash all four files (BL, AP, CP, and HOME_CSC) with ODIN. The phone will reboot into recovery and throw an error. Reboot into download mode and reflash HOME_CSC again. – Thanks @thefirst__noel
2) Don’t bother logging into any accounts, as the phone will get wiped again. Copy the FlashFire.apk, AP_G930UUEU4BQD2_CL10860000_QB13198947_REV02_user_ low_ship_MULTI_CERT_meta.tar.md5, and UFirm_Multi_Carrier_Hybrid_NoNaMe_PlayStore_BS_Free_V14_VZWS7FLAT.zip to Internal Storage. – Thanks @appye
3) Make sure secure boot is turned off!!! Shut off the phone and boot into download mode (volume down, home, and power). Flash the S7 Nougat root kernel in the AP slot in Odin.
4) When the phone reboots, unlock developer options and enable USB debugging. Unzip the S7_SU_2_79_Root_Unroot_WO_Tweaks.zip and run root.bat from your PC. May need to right-click and run as administrator.
5) Now install FlashFire. In FlashFire, select add Flash Firmware Package and choose AP_G930UUEU4BQD2_CL10860000_QB13198947_REV02_user_ low_ship_MULTI_CERT_meta.tar.md5 and make sure all partitions are checked.
Then add Flash Zip or OTA and choose UFirm_Multi_Carrier_Hybrid_NoNaMe_PlayStore_BS_Fre e_V14_VZWS7FLAT.zip and tap mount system when FlashFire asks.
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: MAKE SURE TO UNCHECK INJECT ROOT AFTER ADDING THE ZIP! – Thanks @dclutter1
Click Add Wipe and choose Wipe Dalvik Cache and Cache and choose Format Cache Also select wipe SuperSU image. Make sure wipe is at end of flash sequence. The sequence should be AP file first then Zip second and Wipe cache last.
6) The phone will restart and FlashFire will flash the firmware first, then the Aroma Installer will start.
7) In Aroma, select wipe ALL data (DO NOT KEEP SU) – See notes below.
8) The phone will say custom status on first boot, but it goes away after setup and reboot.
The phone may take up to 20 minutes to boot the first time, so be patient.
If you reflash the ROM, you must flash the AP file in FlashFire at the same time.
Notes:
* Do not use Package Disabler Pro if you choose NoNaMe mods in Aroma.
* If you are installing the S8 apps, you may run into force closes. Your best bet is to pull down on the notification panel, click the settings button, and go into applications and clear data for everything that is force closing. If you keep data, you may run into issues with Advanced Calling and other features. Keep data at your own risk. If you don’t wipe data, then please don’t post issues in the thread.
* I was able to keep my settings and data by choosing keep data in Aroma and still passed SafetyNet. I can’t guarantee that this will work for everyone, but you can try if you want. This probably will not work if you are coming from MM. If you decide to take this route and have issues, do a full wipe and reinstall before posting any problems.
* If you get constant application errors saying "IMS service has stopped" and "com.sec.epdg has stopped", boot into recovery using the Power+VolUp+Home combination. You will likely get a "No command" error screen. Let it on that screen (30-60 seconds) and it will eventually go into the recovery menu. Wipe data and cache in recovery. – thanks paul.miner

Does this ROM come with Google Pixel Dialer, Google Camera etc Google stuff in Aroma to choose from ?
I didn't install those options, but I believe they are there, along with some S8 app options as well. I've been running this for a week. It's silky smooth with great battery life. Every time I pick up my phone now I can't help thinking this is how our phones should be. I'm loving this ROM.

I also modified the updater_script so that the BS Free section of the script will remove more of Google Apps, such as Photos, Hangout, but I kept the Camera plugins and the Gallery's photo editor and video playback, etc. I also sorted that section of the script by alphabetical, it was a pain to see what the script removes and keep when everything is out of order when going through the list. If anyone's interested of that updater_script, let me know.

As for the updater_script, I planned to redo it to fix the gallery and video issues on the next version. I didn't want to upload an update with these fixes, then release one right after when the latest ROM is available with the new firmware, because that usually ends up being the case lol. I'd definitely be interested in looking at your script.
I feel like I'm going crazy here, any help would be appreciated. I downloaded everything and flashed all four files (BL, AP, CP, and HOME_CSC) with ODIN. The phone reboots into recovery and throws an error. I reboot into download mode and reflash HOME_CSC again. Then, it just gets stuck on the SAMSUNG screen. I've tried reflashing multiple times, and even let the phone sit for over an hour in case it was just taking a long time to boot. But I can't ever get it past the SAMSUNG screen. Any ideas?

I was able to install this ROM.
I noticed a very weird thing. In the attached screenshot, there is a small white tab at top of the screen in scroll area.
Why does it exist ? Can we hide it ?

It's called the battery bar. Disable it in the ROM control app.

Thanks a lot. I was able to hide it.
Another weird thing is, in the ROM control app, the button size is enlarged. Not sure why (attached).
I was using other ROM of yours earlier and in it the size was correct. Any thoughts?
Also, a word of caution during installation-
When I flashed everything from ODIN first and booted, the phone downloaded an update(OTA)
I accidentally said Update. It went ahead and installed it.
Booted back fine, was able to root, flashfire, aroma. After aroma however, it got stuck in boot animation. Rebooted it, got stuck and would not go ahead.
Needed to factory reset from recovery and start over.
Some of the cursors are a little awkward with the modded systemUI. You'll notice it everywhere, especially Google.

I think it is blocking 'Here Maps' App and I'd like to exclude this from blocking.

Is there a plan to fix this ?
Is this more visible if we choose Google Play ROM version as opposed to debloat/verizon rom ?
I was using Verizon_TMO_Hybrid_Nougat_Rom and in this I think this cursor/gui awkwardness did not exist.

I use Adguard, so I don't use the ad blocking in the ROM. I don't know how to help on that. Did you see post #2 about ad blocking? If I remember correctly, you can edit the file and use adb to push it, but I'm not certain.

That is really up to jrkruse if he fixes it in a later update. Switching ROM versions won't fix it. If it's a huge bother to you, then re-flash the ROM and don't choose the modded systemUI.
I am currently running Stang5litre Edition 5.0 s7 v3 MM ROM on an AT&T S7 Flat and I believe the ROM is based on the S7 Edge . I am trying to flash this ROM using the OP instructions and keep getting this error in Odin on Step 1. The phone never reboots, it just stays in recovery. Any suggestions?

Its cause this ROM is nougat based and for a strange reason you can't flash nougat roms directly on top of MM ones. The usual fix is to flash the stock firmware for your phone, try to get the OTA update for nougat, then follow the steps. Also just giving a fair warning you can't downgrade back down to MM after the nougat update so you wont be able to go back to Stang5litre until he updates that to nougat.

Hey I have a bit of a bug report. Was messing around with the settings in NNRomControl and finally got things the way I like it. I went to go restart the phone and when it booted back up System UI either Stopped or Crashed and didn't restart itself. Did a little testing and found that it was the System UI Tuner Mod. After enabling any of the settings and restarting the phone System UI would immediately crash on startup.

Original thread in chineese with changelog and screenshot (it's sloooooow).

Kangvip 171 with K settings
Tried that already. More bloatware than huawei+google together. A mess...
Did tried it for 30 minutes and deleted. Maybe preinstalled magisk and K settings are cool, but no thank You.
So it is the Chinese ROM with battery setting crashing

Concerning the chinese bloatware.
You can always install Titanium Backup and freeze all china apps (with chineese letters).
Don't uninstall, but freeze (for avoiding conflicts).
And voila you have get rid of bloatware.
After that you can install Google Play Store from apkmirror.
The rom from official chineese thread IS full chinese.
But the rom posted here, and via 4pda are fully translated.
So, overall the rom is amazing. One of the best for our p20 pro.

You can unlock bootloader again. It's a paid service. For more info check out the P20 pro telegram group.

Download Rom and install it via Twrp after full wipe (system,data,cache and dalvik)
Rom has a lot of Chinese bloatware,you can freeze it by titanium backup.

It has been published the b167 version of android pie - based kangvip rom.
Rooted, with K-settings.
Full of cn bloatware, but those can always be removed by appgallery, or freezed by titanium backup.

you have to
1. disable ad blocker on the site
2. push the green button next to the blue one
3. and wait ... it is automated, howewer, it may take some minutes
4. after found the correct server, it will be a backward counting from about 30 seconds
5. afther that it will give you the download link

Note about the rom:
1. It is finally rooted, just remember to set in magisk manager the update channel to custom (and put the link of canary build)
2. Titanium manager is a bit tricky, because at installation stage you must give all the permisssions, and before running it, you must set in magisk manager the root perrmission to prompt (with grant it won't be recognized)
3. you can get rid finally of all bloatware cn apps.

Unfortunately, once i Factory reset and install process offre the rom is ok, i am stucked on recovery twrp / erecovery on bootloop....
