Nexus 5x DU ROM v. Rooted Android N. Which is recommended? - General Questions and Answers

I for about a week or two now have been thinking of switching my phone back to stock and update to N Preview 2, since I enrolled for updates for the dev previews. I'm currently running Dirty Unicorns 10.2, the newest stable update and can't decide if I want to try Android N or not. Any help is appreciated.

Will the Nexus 4 get an Android N custom rom?

I am really considering in buying a Nexus 4 as I'm currently under a low budget. I am fully aware that up to now the nexus 4 has android M through Cyanogenmod, Chroma etc.. but I was wondering whether someone has any idea whether the Nexus 4 will be updated to some form of Android N custom rom when Android N gets released? Such as CM14? Truly appreciate anyone that answers my question.
CM developers have confirmed that they are going to be releasing cm14 for the Nexus 4

Kk 4.4.4 security updates d2mtr Carbon Rom

How can we get security updates now that Carbon ROM is no longer supported on our s3's. Would I need to become a developer to do it myself? Or is 4.4.4 unsupported even on factory ROMs? Thanks

Stock Nexus 5 security updates are dead in a month, right?

Google says they provide security updates for "at least" three years after a device is released, which in the case of the Nexus 5, is October 2016, or about a month from now. I believe they dropped Nexus 4 support right at three years. I'm guessing with Nougat being out, that any updates for non-Nougat devices (Nexus 5) are dead. Anyone have any insight on this?
I'm trying to figure out when to go to a custom ROM or buy a new device, and I'm aggravated because there's zero reason for Google to drop security updates for this device.
I may be wrong, but I'm not under the impression that they'll stop security updates. There won't be nougat though.

Is there no way for [xda] devs to port security updates for the stock ROM for the N5?
They won't supply firmware updates anymore (bootloader, radio). But all the other security features and patches can be forked from the AOSP. As far as I know.

They do add the security patches to the custom ROMs.

Custom nougat roms, sure.
I'm still waiting for nougat to mature, but would love security patches for the stock Marshmellow.
Surely I'm not the only one?

Any Android 8.1 ROM for the moto x pure that is not ground zero?

I'm interested on getting a stable Android 8.1 ROM that has a working camera and it's not the ground zero rom because the camera is not working. And after a lot of search I was not able to find anything
