Hi all,
hope this is not too dumb of a question as i dont have an S2 yet, but i was wondering if you can keep the same watch face on all the time, if so how bad is it on batt life. Also what do you have to do to bring the 'normal' face back on, do you have to tap the screen or can you just turn your wrist?
cheers
nick
I don't use always on display, but I would imagine it would hurt battery life.
You can tap one of the buttons, turn the bezel, or just turn your wrist to turn on the screen. I get 2-3 days with my normal use.

I am having a weird problem. I am on stock ATT with root. If i am talking to someone using my phone....if i put it on speaker and screen goes off...I cannot make the screen on back again. If i click power button the phone gets disconnected. its really irritating bug.
Also if i am using GPS while driving and If i get a call....after attending the call and I am not able to go back to navigation app. it shows me black screen.
These two things are annoying me like hell. Any help is appreciated...
maybe set display to never sleep? esp. while driving? will drain the battery faster, but in the car presumably you would have a charger available...
Are you using a screen protector or case thats covering the proximity sensor? Its one of the little spots in the upper left corner. Where most protectors have a cut out. Anyways, thats there to shut the screen off on the phone when you are on it so you dont accidentally hit any buttons. If its covered it wont allow you to turn the display on because it thinks its next to your face. Either that or maybe your sensor is bad.
So I am studying and taking notes on papyrus when all of a sudden screen goes black.
And it's not like it went to sleep mode because if I hit the power button it makes a sound but does not turn the screen back on.
When I click the second time it turns the screen on, as if I turned the screen off and on while it was black screen.
Has anyone experienced this?
So far I have had this only happen while taking notes on Papyrus, I have 30min set to turn of screen and this happens during my note taking...
Also I am using GMOD SPen, to turns of capacitive sensor. -Maybe it could be the problem?
The only input I can provide is that under the same circumstances as you, ( GMD to turn off capacitive touch) and using papyrus, I had no such issues.
Something I feel I should share though, is that the spen latency is greatly decreased in papyrus on a custom ROM such as baked#8 but you lose the Samsung features.
Just my 0.02

Jack
What about Android Revolution HD 5.1?
I was having serious latency problems earlier but that was due to 2d gpu acceleration.
Once I disabled that I still see some lag, but it's much more tolerable.
Should I try the rom you mentioned, is the latency really that good?
So far, the least latency I've seen was with software called "write" although it has a lot of useful features Papyrus is still my favorite.

Well, if you are comfortable with taking a cwm/twrp backup the you can try it for yourself
I noticed a great deal of difference personally.

I've actually had the exact same issue, although I use LectureNotes: I can be taking notes from anywhere between 2 minutes and 30 when the screen suddenly goes dark (but not off). Pressing the power button turns the screen off and another power button press brings you back to you note-taking app.
I thought this was an issue with LectureNotes' auto-saving feature, but after seeing this thread, I'm thinking it's system-related (software or hardware).
Anyone have any insights into why the screen randomly goes dark while using the S-pen?

I have had the same thing happen to me while using " Note Anytime ".
I'm using the app and the screen goes completely black, wait 3 seconds or so and the screen comes back on.
I'm using the new B3 stock ROM.

I noticed that I am getting this while using the s-pen.
This does not apply to just papyrus, it just randomly happens.
Please let me know if I should return this to Samsung as I only have 90 day warranty on this refurbished note 10.1
Do you have auto brightness selected? I never have this problem when I use manual brightness but notice it when I use auto brightness.
I just open a topic about this before I notice this one.
I get this problem also, I had this with a few different apps.
And i use auto brightness.
I will try contacting samsung to here what there have to say

somebody said that would contact Samsung: have you any additional information?

I do have the same problem (with LectureNotes, but this is the only pen-focused app I use). Independently of auto-brightness, this should not happen. Any news from Samsung?
Hello all,
Just got the SmartWatch 1 for a good price. I'm enjoying the notifications and call screening a lot.
But I can't wake the watch.
Double tapping does not work.
Having the phone on all the time while it's moving will drain the battery in 3 seconds flat.
The one where you are supposed to move the watch horizontally and the display will turn on is a joke. It simply doesn't do a thing.
A friend got his too and we have the same issues.
Other than turning it on with the power button, is there a ay to "fix" the double tapping thing?
Any help will be appreciated!
Mine does the same thing intermittently. No rhyme or reason to it. Mine was a door prize at XDA Devcon

It's strange. Yep, it'll sometimes wake up and most of the time it won't. But I have better luck tapping the strap, as someone suggested. So. Weird!
Still. This looks to me like one of the greatest stupid things ever. I mean, it doesn't do much - but in a single day, I now wonder why nobody invented it before. It rocks!
This thing is an error.
Double tap to wake function only works if the watch goes to sleep when its on the default clock screen.

I have used the power button double tap to wake up the watch and it still displays the last app that was showing.
I've done this with a few apps now.
Is anyone else having an issues when on a call to someone you take it away from your ear and look at your phone and the screen doesn't come back on. I have to hit the power button to make the screen wake up. I'm all stock (4.4.2) with unlocked bootloader. I m trying to see if this is a hardware problem where I need to RMA or software problem.
Mine works perfectly well. Are you sure you don't have anything that might be affecting the proximity sensor, like smudges or a screen protector?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
No, I don't have any screen protector not any smudges. I saw similar issues on other phones and someone said to clear data and cache on the phone app so I don't know if that will work or not.

What time out do you have your screen set to? Sounds like it's simply locking after the designated time.
I've noticed the screen turning on and off occasionally when talking. Almost like the sensor isn't sure if I'm holding it to my head or not but then I do hold it away from my face.
I have the same issue...
I can't hang a call because the screen simply don't turn on when I remove my phone from the ear.
In add at this issue, seems like the proximity sensor turn off the backlight screen only.
When I finish a call, I found the clock screen opened, in my case the settings screen of advanced clock widget...
It's really annoying...

Do you guys have a screen protector applied by any chance? Everyone had this issue with the nexus 4 because the sensor is really sensitive and picks the protector up, not letting it turn the screen on. Try removing a section of the protector where the sensor sits, this will fix your issue.
Surprisingly, I don't have this problem
Team Nexus 5 sucks. Underpowered battery for a 5inch 1080p screen that is non-removable. Weak generic antenna that drops signal. Worst speaker of any device on the market. Cheap plastic build.

I have it on 15 seconds. Shouldn't that feature be bypassed when a call is in progress so that the proximity sensor is usable. This is the first phone that I've had that has done this to me. On all others the proximity sensor stays live even after the predetermined sleep time.
After 15 seconds you're screen is simply turning off as you have set. Mine does so after 1 minute, which is my screen time out setting.

During a call shouldn't the screen timeout be bypassed then go back to the default setting once the call has ended? That makes much more sense to me.

This seems to be the built in functionality of the phone and not a bug. I can't really say if one way is better then the other but I just turn the screen off during calls now.
This is the bug...
really annoying

Hey people
Got my smart watch about 4 days ago and it was all good until tonight and now for some reason i can't see the clock anymore unless i press the power button :S i could have sworn it had a low light mode and the clock was visable ok but since tonight i can't see the time unless there's a light pointing straight at the watch. I hooked it upto the service centre thing and updated it through that but hasn't helped.
am I going mad here and just seeing things? :S
EDIT: i also noticed when i turn it off i get some weird colours appearing in the clockface some pinks/purples. i don't understand it was ok a couple of hours ago and it's been on my wrist the whole time :S
Did you try to reset the watch? Also our you have any custom clocks installed, remove them. As after reset, Sony smartwatch app will reinstall them on the watch, once the watch and the phone are connected.
On your watch, go to settings and tap reset watch.

tried that chap loads of times and nothing tried re-installing firmware and nothing swell. no custom watchfaces installed either just the stock ones

Just to make it clear, you are not talking about the low power mode right? No backlight, but can be still seen by people in ambient light??? Maybe you should take a picture of the watch so we can clearly see what is going on.
At night my sw2 turns of the screen completely. But when I MOVE the watch it turns on the clock on the display. I think it has an accelerometer that turns off the screen when no movement is detected.

It is normal.
It is a feature to save battery when it isn't worn.
I am more curious as to the "watch (display) turns on from moving it". Does the SW2 have an accelerometer? My watch display doesn't kick on when I move it. Or was this a feature of the earlier SmartWatches?

I believe SW2 does have an accelerometer. Put your watch on a table, leave it untouched for while, screen completely turns off. Not even the low power watch mode is displayed. But once you move it, low power watch comes back on (without the backlight). I observed it many times when it was charging and when left at the bed side table.
But it is not utilized for backlight function. That is a missing feature people are asking for. But I don't really need it. Just like a regular watch, I press a button to turn the light on when I can't see it in the dark.

Wow... I didn't even notice the screen going completely black after sitting for a while. I am still on watch honeymoon, and either the watch is on my wrist or turned off and on the dresser. But sure enough, it does go into a deeper "sleep" mode and wakes up when I pick it up. Nice!
I do see that having it wake to the backlit mode would be nice but it would seem to kill the battery since when worn it would be in more constant movement. Unless they tuned the accelerometer to only wake when a more significant motion happens.

Yeah the previous iteration of smartwatch from Sony did not have always on watchface and it was a necessity. And to see the time you had to turn on the display. One way was to double tap on the watch screen to wake it up. Another way was to light up the screen by lifting your arm and turning the watch towards you. But the second way never really worked reliably.
But I don't think SW2 needs that. As we already have always on watch with great readability even in places where there little light.

So there is nothing on the screen not even the low power mode on the watch. I don't know what to tell you boss as you have already done a reset. Maybe one thing to check is to use SUS to reflash the firmware using your pc, if you haven't done it already.
