Hopefully root for H901 - T-Mobile LG V10 General

I look around and found this in the lg Vietnam forums. http://lgviet.com/forum/threads/rooted-lg-h901-phien-ban-stock-6-0.56097/
Make sure Google translate is on.

Wow. Looks good. I was getting ready to put my phone up for sale but saw the going price on Craigslist at $350 was just depressing.

This is great news!!

It feels like it's been an eternity since I had root lol. Its been like 2 weeks or so...ugh

Hope this works. I'm stuck on stock Marshmallow on my V10 at the moment so I can't even continue the development of my ROM. Hopefully they release this root method soon.

I miss your rom. But it's what I get for being impatient

Seems like there is some drama on that lgviet thread. Can anyone translate? google isnt doing a good job. lol

Looks like on a 15th he will do THE POST about rooting. Those drama just bla bla bla, some dudes goes too personal.

That link is the most difficult thing to read. I must say google translate does not do it justice trying to decipher that lol! I don't think there was one sentence anywhere in there that was comprehensible!

I tried it with Edge and the experimental Microsoft Translator plug in on my Win 10 test box. It isn't any more comprehensible.

We AT&T users also lost root with 6.0, nor can we go back. Im HOPING his method may have something we can use to root our phones as well! (although I highly doubt it, as it probably had something to do with the unlocked bootloader.)

Almost at the point of doing the unthinkable and jumping to an iPhone. More and more phones are being shut out of being able to achieve root

Google translate works better with Vietnamese to Cantonese (I can read it) as they're pretty close.
Unfortunately, I don't see any clue.
Anyway, I flashed 100% stock + root using the two parts ROM from development section, and flashed root in TWRP during flashing process.

Depends on the root method. If this replaces the rom then yeah you will lose everything, but if you use this method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1792342
then you will not have to change anything and it's pretty straight forward.

I had to do a factory reset on my phone yesterday to troubleshoot another issue, so I can't say 100% but the few changes I made earlier today (wallpaper, lock screen shortcuts, ringtones, installed Pandora) stayed in place. From the script, it just copies files over and then moves them to system partition during next couple boots. It does not wipe data / cache / dalvik like when you load a new ROM.
I don't know about the java tool here but the one Aquila mentioned ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1792342 ) works perfectly.
You won't lose settings or have to clear anything. Its really useful if you're on the VRALG1 firmwares and don't want to revert to LF2 from flashing a rooted ROM.
I downloaded to my pc, then hooked up my gs3 nothing? What an I suppose to do?
Never mind it worked

Should move this Thread to the development section. And let the Devs tell us if this is good or not, Pros and cons.
just noticed that Adam is a dev.but should move to development so it can be seen more!!
This tool works well without loss to data...of course no one but you is responsible if something goes wrong but from what I see it uses the debug method I have used it and obtained root fine

I'm going to go ahead and say it...
Adam posted this in the development thread where they are working on cracking the bootloader. If he wanted the masses to be using it or if it was ready for the masses to use he would have posted it outside of that thread.
I don't know if it was bc of this thread or not, but this got picked up by droid life and he had to take it down off the R&D thread.
Stuff like this shouldn't be reposted outside of that thread until it is ready and the dev who came up with it says it is ok to do so (or just posts it himself).

[Q] Is there someone working on a root method?

Hey guys, as the title states, is there anyone working on root method for the latest OTA (9/4/12)? I foolishly updated, as always hoping they'd fix the reloading issue, and now I'm stuck on it because I can't seem to find a working root method for this update. If anyone needs a test phone, then I'm up for it, I gotta get this thing working properly already!!
Thanks,
John

I know what you mean, I've also gone through a bunch of different websites, and nothing there, perhaps another phone with a similar OS has a solution that could be worked off of. Heck, I've fiddled around with a few different methods, but the primary issue is not being rooted. I managed to get a part of the clockwork recovery, but even though I had a ROM in the sdcard root, my phone just rebooted, and no change was made, may try a different ROM for the heck of it.

I think I will, even though I just used an external application to do the reboots for me, where tacroot couldn't get the permissions.
It came as a surprise, as most of the stuff I tried failed me.

Yes but if you are S-Off, you can get it back. Suggestion above was on point. You night want to read a lot more before doing something you might regret. Only root method is Sunshine and it does not work with 5.0.x at this time.

Better check before u do all your sarcastic bull****.......That's for KitKat ,not Lollipop........
1) The person you're telling to check and accusing of sarcastic bullsh*t is the OP of the linked thread.
2) Literally the very next two posts are about using the exact same method for Lollipop.
As someone once famously said, "Better check before . . . "
I did try it and it didn't work on my Lollipop...... I did check it and I did try it.... Plus I did search for my the root before I asked for help......

Every Note 4/Edge I've worked with has accepted whatever root method was used in KitKat for Lollipop. From what I've read, there may be a few models around the world that this doesn't apply to, but I haven't worked with any of those.
Mine's from India? Know anything about that? Is there a way around this?

Any chance of downgrading? I thought I saw a post somewhere about upgrading to lollipop while keeping root.
Will that work?
I'll try it out then.....
Sent from my SM-N915G using XDA Free mobile app
To be honest, I have no idea. It's just one of those threads I glanced at while looking for something else. I'm not planning on upgrading to lollipop until xposed and more support in general, so it didn't interest me at the time.
Firstly, sorry if I sounded sarcastic, there a a million+ people out there who start by just going "how do I root....." without checking and having the information stickied EVERYWHERE - been here a while & am a shift worker....
Sorry to hear it wiped your info, didn't have that problem because I always have everything backed up and start on fresh install, less problems that way...
As to getting root in KK and keeping it through a flash to Lollipop, Chainfire has a new flashing app called Flashfire that seems to be VERY good (as per all his apps) but it is a beta test you need to apply and join, you also need to be rooted.
I've used it to backup most of my data with good results but haven't felt the need to flash anything yet. It is the successor of Mobile ODIN so you will need to flash Lollipop bootloader, modem and non-hlos.bin in PC ODIN but it should be able to flash Lollipop while injecting supersu (1.46 Supersu) and keeping root.
I'd start there - Chainfire's Flashfire.
Good luck
Yes, that's what I was trying to remember. Best bet right there if normal root methods aren't working. I personally like to run towelroot, even though there's an effectively 0% chance of it doing anything, just 'cause I can

The simple solution isn't always simple for somebody on fixed bandwidth with no actual internet or ISP, a 2GB file is not an option for me at this point. A small APK that's mere KB's is a much better alternative. Thanks though.

MetroPCS Official Device Unlock APP - SOLVED
This will work if you have a un-rooted MetroPCS device
1. Please back up all your data ( any pictures, video contacts etc).
2. NOTE This step will delete all your data and wipe your phone clean - Do a factory data reset : - go to setting and search for "reset"
when your phone restarts it will load up the MetroPCS stock ROM and you will have all of the MetroPCS app suite including the official MetroPCS device unlock app.
