I want to root my S6 but I know nothing about rooting and such. I've tried towelroot, kingroot and pingpong but none of them seem to support my device.
It's model nr SM-G920F and the build number is MMB29K.G20FXXS3DPD3. I'd like to root it without triggering knox if possible, if it's not tell me what not to do as to avoid bricking it.
It's 6.0.1 Marshmallow

Yes it does. I rooted it yesterday. But be careful with TWRP,
"recovery is not seandroid enforcing" may appear on boot, and u may experience a bootloop.
Keep a stock official rom in your pc, in case u want to recover. Use Odin

Is there a preferred method to gain root in the P905M (probably is the same as P905 model) between Towelroot and Cf-root?
I read some posts and it seems that the Towelroot don't trip the KNOX counter in this model. Probably the Cf-root will trip the KNOX counter.
It seems too that the hotboot problem can be fixed with a xposed module.
I´m pending to use the Towelroot. Am I missing something?

As long as it's a snapdragon processor which p905 and p907a have towel root should work. Hot reboot I believe is Knox and kernel security issue, if you let supersu disable Knox you will have reboots, or at least I did on my p907a.

So can you explain?
So you use towelroot then download supersu from play store and don't disable knox so not reboots?.
Yes, of course!
1- Download the towelroot apk from the developer website;
2- Execute it and gain root.
3- Install Super su from Play Store;
4- Execute Super su and accept to disable KNOX;
5- The Super su freezes while disabling KNOX;
6- Reboot because Super su stopped;
7- Open Super su and accept disable KNOX again;
8- Done!
I lost my Wifi settings after this. Configured it again and no problems anymore.

No.
But You can use Towelroot even with the latest firmware if you temporarily load an older image of the kernel.

I just did it with my P905 (snapdragon) , latest firmware & security updates (no older image needed): it worked, no problems except for the known needed reboot when stuck on disabling Knox (Super SU).
There is no risk in trying Towelroot anyway, it either works or not. It won't trigger Knox.
Only reason I wanted root for this tablet is to do a full backup (Titanium/Helium).

Apparently some Euro countries got a security update in september/october that might break the Towelroot exploit.
I didn't get that OTA update in Belgium yet... so not sure it would have worked for you in fact.
And for tripping Knox, don't worry, we will probably all end up doing it with future firmware versions if we want to keep root access: just don't corrupt your bootloader

I don't know but if bootloader is locked then it will probably not work.

I've been reading and trying to get root on my sm-g920F with firmware G920fxxu2bofj android 5.11
I know pingpong doesnt work so i was looking in CF-autoroot. i dont really care about knox.
but i dont know how to install since there are no instructions. and all threads are such a mess so its really hard to piece everything together.
any one want to point me in the right direction?

nevermind got root using unikernel. forgot to dissable reactivation lock.

1. Is it possible to root the new firmware G920FXXU2BOFJ without tripping KNOX counter?
2. If there is a way to root but only with tripping KNOX, can I somehow reset the counter and go back to 100% stock without any traces?

Yes, there is a method using PingPong Root however you need to be on 5.0.2. If not then unfortunately there is no way to root at the moment without tripping knox.

There is currently no way to reset the counter at the moment. I am sure some devs will figure it out at some point.

I have Sprint G925PVPU3BOI1 5.1.1 and was wondering what is the best/easiest way to root this phone. Does pingpong method actually work on this model? If not will other methods trip the knox thing and if it does will that only mean I won't get OTA updates or are there other disadvantages of tripping knox?

You can not root anymore with ping pong root. That only works on early firmware. Only disadvantages of tripping knox is that you won't be able to use Samsung pay if that matters, and it voids your Samsung warranty, meaning if something goes wrong Samsung won't touch it; however, your carrier will.

With that being said is the process to root the model phone I have + 5.1.1 is to download odin put phone in d/l mode,use odin to flash with twrp and then flash rom, and then I can feel the joy or am I leaving out a step? is is correct where can I find the correct version of Odin and twrp, I've seen reference to it on this e but get a little confused about which file is correct for my model.

You must first root before you can install TWRP. There is a rooted kernel that you can use through Odin. Here is my thread with TWRP and the kernel.

My build version also never shows up on any of the guides as a supported build.

I tried PingPong. It notified me that it could not complete (I assume because I have an unsupported version).

Will Android Pay still work with magisk? I'm not familiar with it. I was under the impression that I would be permanently unable to use mobile payment applications if Knox was triggered. Is that wrong?

Yes it will , enable magisk hide and it should work , android pay dosnt use knox , i think samsung pay does but android pay is not effected by knox
Install magisk and it will all be fine
Also for rooting , just flash twrp with odin then flash magisk for root etc
