Request "Knock On" app to turn on display (similar to LG devices) - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hello! I'm searching for an app that allows me to wake up the GS7's display through "knock on" mode like LG's device.
On playstore there are so many apps that allow us, through double tap, to turn on the screen and unlock the device directly . I don't search this type of apps because they unlock the lockscreen directly, so they are incompatible with the stock fingerprint lockscreen . I would therefore like to know if there is an app that, using the double tap, simply allows to turn on the GS7's display on the lockscreen of that, allowing us, then, to unlock the phone normally with our fingerprint .
Thank you very much for helping.

RIP battery life though lol

In Settings, Accessibility > Dexterity & Interaction > Easy screen on > switch on.
It's not double tap, but uses the proximity sensor to turn screen on by waving an object or your hand over it.
Since it's a built-in option, it uses only 1-2% battery life.
Works for me

There must be one! I'm not rooted. So I don't know if it works..

If the fingerprint reader doesn't consume much energy I would love a tap to wake for it. I guess the nexus 6p does this?

You are looking for a feature that hardware must support it and needs kernel level development.
Any software solution you find to do it is gonna need a constant wakelock and definitely is going to kill your battery in a few hours.

Try glance plus in Play store. You can set it to double tap to wake or even using fingerprint to unlock. The best app IMO.

Never use your power button again. Flip case/pocket autolock.

In the market the APP called AUTOLOCK allows :
- Automatic screen off by proximity sensor : when I put my note in my pocket the screen goes off automatically.
- When the note is in landscape there's an option to disable the proximity sensor
With a flip case :
- The proximity sensor (like on the ipad2 smart cover) disables the screen when you close it.
- Wakes up the screen when you open it... but obviously this option will prevent the phone from entering deep sleep and drain battery life this is not confirmed yet, since I havn't monitored my battery life with this app yet.
- For cases with magnets theres an additional option to use the magnetic sensor instead of the proximity sensor
Add some cool factor to your phones ! The app is free (for the moment...)
If autolock doesnt work with your flip case you can try "Proximity Screen Off" which is a similar app but sadly it has no wake up option.
Or just increase the reading interval to 3 seconds.
To uninstall you must remove admin rights to the sensor first. In settings -> localisation --> admin rights.
Proximity sensor is just an IR LED, it doesnt drain much battery... Remember the oncall battery life with screen off sensor on of the note is like 9 hours non stop.

I tried that one too, for some reason the proximity sensor works when the case flap is a few mm from the screen, but when the flap is shut all the way the sensor doesn't register it, so tries to turn back on again.

[APP] Smart Screen Off 2.3

[UPDATE]
Hi guys, after my account was banned from Play Store, I decided to move all apps on Amazon App Shop for free. :good:
Here you can download last version of Smart Screen OFF PRO.
Smart Screen OFF PRO
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014TKA9VQ
I'll add other apps I developed in the next few weeks.
Download Smart screen off PRO User Guide
DESCRIPTION
Smart Screen Off it's a simple and light app which uses the Proximity Sensor built in your Android smartphone to turn the screen off and on automatically
REASON
I decided to code this app when I bought my Galaxy Nexus: this device doesn't have any physical button on the front screen. Being a quite huge phone, it's quite difficult to press the "turn off" button every time I wanted to turn it off and on. So I needed a way to turn the screen off every time I put it into the pockets and off when removed.
HOW IT WORKS
The app itself is a toggle button, to switch it on just press the App Icon. Then every time you put the phone into your pockets the screen turns off.
If you put the smartphone upside down on the table, the screen turns automatically off.
NOTE: It doesn't lock the screen (just like in a call)
REQUIREMENTS
In order to use Smart Screen Off, you need to have a phone with Proximity Sensor (nowadays every smartphone incorporates one).
Nice APP
Even though I don't need this app...(I prefer manually clicking),
it seems really useful for whom use flip cases.
Such as "planner styled" Galaxy Note
Just installed and it does what it promises. Will be useful for me when at the gym I want to skip songs, I won´t have to unlock the phone a hundred times. Obviously the proximity sensor will be working all the time, did you notice a significant battery drain?. And the app name in the spanish version of the market is badly translated. It says "Fuera de pantalla inteligente" where it should say "Apagado de pantalla inteligente".
This is like screebl?
Good app, great idea. I think you should not only use proximity sensor, but things like orientation. I probably wont use this just because it doesn't seem too useful... I sometimes have my hand on top of my phone (near the sensor) and a finger movement can just keep making it blink on and off etc. Use orientation with this, it'd be better.
GREAT APP!
Works flawlessly, thanks alot.
Just installed V1.1 free from the market and it's a bit too sensitive! I hold my phone in my right hand and when I curl my hand over to touch or make gestures on the screen, the display turns off. Is there any way to adjust the sensitivity? I'm running on a Galaxy Nexus running GummyNex 0.7.6 based on AOSP 4.0.3.
UI is useless for lite so remove it, and as long as it has a notification in status bar i will not use this app, can i get v1 back!
2/5 stars
also in v1.2 there is NO way to turn it off :/

Proximity Screen Off never worked properly for me on the HD2 with several different versions of Android (both Honeycomb and ICS). It was quite prone to locking up my phone with the display off and locked.
Can you not trigger it to go to deep sleep. Screen should lock, that would be more appropriate imo.
If u turn off the display only, will deep sleep work?
EDIT:Saw the post up^^

Well buddy it needs a camera to take light input, so it will not run without camera or light sensor. I don't know if there is any android device without camera in market. you can use back camera for that, but some times results may annoy you, when you accidentally put your finger in front of camera.

Hay pal first read the tutorial fully, I am using tasker to initiate refresh process on display on. If you use lux individually then it will slow down your phone and drain the battery. In my tutorial actually lux is not running in background (if it is running you can kill it). Tasker plug in triggers it to refresh the brightness. Coz i have used it for hole day and currently using, I have not face any issues with device performance. If anyone body faced any issue can post here i'll try to solve it.
So it will never drain battery just try it.

Lux works fine without Tasker too. I didn't feel bothered to uninstall Tasker at last. Tasker itself consume a smart amount of RAM. Now I am using lux with some additional luma values in addition to given here. I am using total 11 numbers of values and set adjust "On Woke". It's flawlessly working without the help of tasker.
Thanks man. The flux app saved me!!!!!
(Ps.: I aslo think that tasker is not needed because flux is enough)

[APP][5.0+][AmbientDisplay]Handwave / Pocket Mode for Ambient Display

Hi, I made this app as a fork of the Xposed Enable Ambient Display app, because it would not work on my phone (which already has ambient display enabled, but not the handwave / proximity gesture)
The app when installed, and the service activated, will bring up the black screen that is used to peek at notifications (https://raw.githubusercontent.com/D...isplay/master/screenshots/ambient-display.png) when you wave at the proximity sensor, or take it out from your pocket.

Well, for starters, your kernel has to support it, I believe. I am not very sure - I don't delve into the realm of hardware.
On my device, it was enabled after this commit was merged : http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/119408/
On some devices, this module might work http://repo.xposed.info/module/com.dvd.android.xposed.enableambientdisplay - it did not work on mine, but worked on my roommate's device - this module would actually disable ambient display on my phone for some reason, so I have made a standalone app from the service in it.

In all, likelihood, yes. It will be high.
Wish this worked on nexus 5x. You ever think about making it a XPOSED module? I think lots of people would find it useful.

Double tap to wake without root

Hey everyone,
Are there any current methods to add 'double tap to wake' that is used on LG phones? My phone is unrooted, and I could only find rooted methods or some apps that completely kill your battery.
I'm running a 5.1.1 on a S6 Active
Thanks

AFAIK, to do double-tap to wake without using a lot of battery life requires hardware support, the S6 does not have this. You can configure the touch sensor to wake the CPU, but this will happen every time the screen is touched (including in pocket) as there is no way to tell the touch controller to wait for 2 "taps". So no, no way to do this without root, and no way even with root to make this a good thing battery wise.
Try the KnockOn app. From the app description: "If you use the double tap to wake feature the app will display a black screen, so the screen is actually on."

There's Air wake/Easy Screen On in Accessibility -> Dexterity and Interaction in Settings! The screen will wake up whenever something hovers over the proximity sensor at top left. I can confirm that its battery usage is negligible!
