Well buddy it needs a camera to take light input, so it will not run without camera or light sensor. I don't know if there is any android device without camera in market. you can use back camera for that, but some times results may annoy you, when you accidentally put your finger in front of camera.

Hay pal first read the tutorial fully, I am using tasker to initiate refresh process on display on. If you use lux individually then it will slow down your phone and drain the battery. In my tutorial actually lux is not running in background (if it is running you can kill it). Tasker plug in triggers it to refresh the brightness. Coz i have used it for hole day and currently using, I have not face any issues with device performance. If anyone body faced any issue can post here i'll try to solve it.
So it will never drain battery just try it.

Lux works fine without Tasker too. I didn't feel bothered to uninstall Tasker at last. Tasker itself consume a smart amount of RAM. Now I am using lux with some additional luma values in addition to given here. I am using total 11 numbers of values and set adjust "On Woke". It's flawlessly working without the help of tasker.

Thanks man. The flux app saved me!!!!!
(Ps.: I aslo think that tasker is not needed because flux is enough)

works like charm
nice my nexus 4 light sensor and proximity sensors are dead..this resolved light sensor...any alternate for proximity sensor???while receiving or making calls

Another app that work to. Just install. No need any setting.
It is "Auto brightness by PP".
It is free.

Hi, with only this app you can do the same:

Any way to disable soft key lights on One S?

I have moved to the HTC One S from the Galaxy S2. One of the most annoying things of the S2 was the soft key lights when using the phone in the dark. I solved this by using the "Screen Filter" app from the Market. I have also seen that Samsung has put the option to disable the light on those buttons in the Settings menu.
Now, on the HTC One S, the problem is back. Screen Filter does not kill the light on the buttons (it says that this won't work on all phones...) and I can not find a setting to do this.
Is there a way to kill the lights on those buttons?
Am I the only one that finds this annoying? I find the phone impossible to use while in bed or in a dark lit environment...

yes
I'll be getting the ONE S tomorrow, but on my SGSII you can go into settings > display > touch key light duration. I'm not sure if the one s has it but hopefully that helps.
I know about the S2, I have one myself. I am not sure if this is a "samsung feature" or a stock ICS feature. If it is an ICS feature, then it should be possible to dim or turn off those lights on the ONE S also in one way or another? The best solution would be to switch them off permanently.
I have no use for those lights since I know where the three buttons are.
And the fact that they light up, full blast, and stay lit, when I watch movies via Mirage (Air Video client) in bed is just annoying at best.

Did anyone ever find a solution to this problem. I use my phone as an alarm clock, and now leave the display turned off as those pesky little lights on the buttons blaze away all night
What alarm clock do you use that the lights stay on? That doesnt make any sense. I use my phone as an alarm. Screen shuts off as normal and when the alert comes in it turns on like normal.

Sorry, I'm maybe not explained it clearly. I use Gentle Alarm that has a night time display of the time. My old phone the button back lights (4) used to turn off. With the HOS they stay on and there seems to be no option to turn them off. There is only 3 of them of now on the HOS but they are quite bright. If the light is bright enough they turn off during the day but at night they blaze away regardless. I currently just turn the screen off and Gentle Alarm still works of course but with no time display. Not a big issue as only useful if you happen to wake in the night and wonder what time it was. I only ask because I wonder if I've missed an option somewhere. Screen Filter has the option to turn them off but does not work with the HOS.
I understand now. I didn't know people leave their displays on for alarm clock use. As far as I know there is no way to completely disable the capacitive buttons. Sorry bud.
Sent from my HTC one sex
You can turn off the button lights in LeeDroid's ROM. It's in the tweaks settings.
You could also manually set the brightness of the display just bright enough that the phone disables the softkey lights.
Edit: nvm. It only works while using auto brightness.

i would also like to know if anyone finds a fix i was watching a movie on my phone last night to keep it quiet and them lights satyed on all the time i also looked for the settings like they had on the sgs2 but no dice
I wrote a tasker task that will disable the lights on the capacitative buttons. You can use it to automatically disable the lights when in whichever app your want or set it up to have a toggle. I use both.
The task does require root. And Tasker, obviously.
If anyone else is interested I can export it and post it.

Main Task
Example Toggle Task
To use: ensure that you have root. If you have not already granted Tasker root access before, you will have to when using this task. Import at least the main task (called button light) into Tasker. To use it, either create your own task to reference it, or import the toggle task.
Using the toggle task: Just run the task (for example, create a shortcut to the task on your homepage), and select if you want the task on, off or on system default.
Using your own task: In your task, use the Perform Task action. Var1 should be either On, Off, or System. (For example, create a profile for MX Player, Enter action is Perform Task with var1 Off, and Exit Task is Perform Task with var2 system. This task can be downloaded here for you to edit from.)
All files are also attached.
Click Thanks if it works for you.
You can go to sys/class/leds/button-backlight/ then open the "brightness" file in a text editor and change "255" to "0" then save.
In essence, that is what the Tasker task does, but if you just change the value of that file, then Sense will just restore it as soon as it detects that the light values have changed. I couldn't get it to stick without root. The Tasker task also changes the permissions for that file, thus preventing Sense from changing it until you unlock the file again.
Perfect
Thanks jayelbird, your brilliant. The Tasker do the job very nice.
OT: can you make a task wake up volume?
The most that Tasker can do right now is detect if there was a volume change and wake the phone, although I can et you a profile for that if you want it.
Button remapping might be a better avenue to take. Try changing the codes for the button remapping.
Try changing the codes for the button remapping
Thanks. How can i change the code for the button remapping?

Solved...How to disable display on poco f1 like on PCs

I don't want to use power button, double tap or simulate that. I just want to disable display for some time and then turn it back on. Is this possible? Thanks.
Edit: this app does it flawlessly with root. https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-screen-backlight-off-xda-exclusive-t3037380
Objectives
1. Apps should be running in foreground thinking I'm using phone.
2. Only display module should be affected.
3. Android itself should think that the display is turned on and should play YouTube videos (though i dont want youtube.. Its just an example plz don't comment YouTube vanced)..
Possible solutions:
1. Rename display driver files (idk location).
2. Make brightness 0 (idk how to do this.. Idk default value too)
Ps: even if there is adb command plz tell me that.. Along with command to turn display on again lol
Double tap to sleep and double tap to wake
??? I don't want my android to sleep. I want to just disable the display not put phone on sleep like double tap, power button etc..
Use the game mode...it has a screen off feature...just manually add the app as a game you want to use this feature on. Even sound works...just screen turns of...helps with YouTube for free background play ?
I'm not on stock MiUi rom bro I'm using syberia os.. Thanks for idea btw..
Break the screen
If you're on custom rom, then find one with smart pixel and disable around 80-90% of the pixels
Thanks but smart pixels is useless for non amoled phones..
Do u want to take picture of someone secretely??
If so then there is already an app for that which disables the screen and then u just tap anywhr on the screen whn the display is off and snap any photo/vid.
Lol no nothing like that.. I just want to disable my display panel to watch hotstar app for long times.. I don't need video only audio... So I wanna disable display panel to save battery.
My god the OP has a lot of issues for an absurd problem
Found solution. https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-screen-backlight-off-xda-exclusive-t3037380
add to game turbo you can turn off display and running game/on background with display turn off..

Looking for a "Low flashlight brightness fix" (torch light, not photo flash)

Hi!
I would like something like this https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ness-fix-torch-light-not-photo-flash.3872858/ for my Xperia 5 II.
Or if there is a setting for it. I have read on some webpages that maybe you could boost it in settings. This site https://smartandroid.fr/en/comment-allumer-la-lampe-torche-de-son-sony-xperia-5-2/ is about "Xperia 5" (not "Xperia 5 II") and say:
Slide the notification bar down
Go to the settings shortcut page on which your » Lamp »
Rather than clicking on the logo to light it, click on the text: » Lamp ", In this way you will access the torch settings of your Sony Xperia 5
You can now move the slider to manage the intensity of your flash. Namely that the device will save the setting and that it will have this intensity during the next ignition
I cant find that setting on my Xperia 5 II.
I have also tried this:
I go to Settings
There, at the top, I search for "Flash"
Now I see the setting "Flashlight", but nothing happens what I try to choose it.
Is there any magic out there to turn up the light?
Hi raffe,
I'm glad you posted this as I was looking to ask this question myself. The flashlight is really dim compared to my old phone so it would be great to turn up the brightness (lumens).
I also have no response when I look at settings and search torch. And no way to find other options for this feature. I even looked on Developer Tools.
Hopefully someone can help....?
Maybe the problem is, there is only one led diode..
Agree the "torch" is incredibly woeful, worst I've seen to be honest.
if you make a photo then you see that the led can be pretty bright even brighter than everyother phone I've had. Problem is that sony sets it low to allow it to go on for couple of hours winthout overheating.
I'm looking into it myself, if I find anything then I'll let you guys know
So it's me again. I have a solution but it requires root
Release v1.4.6 · BRoy98/GodlyTorch
Merge pull request #2 from TheDorkKnightRises/patch Fix LED file path for OnePlus One (bacon), proper device names for OP Merge pull request #3 from TheDorkKnightRises/patch Fix default double-...
github.com
Download this app and select device google pixel 2 it allows you to control the torch brightness
But be careful and don't burn your finger by setting it to 100% max bright like me hah. The 10% is normal brightness 20% is brighter than every other device and 30% is enough for myself

Thanks! That worked well
Wish there was a solution without root.

Good find! I only wish there were an easier way to toggle flashlight on/off to a preset intensity. The app doesn't provide a shortcut.

The brightness setting may be hidden. On my Samsung simply long pressing the flashlight icon toggle takes you to the brightness control.
It was purely by accident that I discovered it as that's the only way to access it.
I agree that root shouldn't be required for such a simple thing.
Crap it

It's probably buried in the settings or a 3rd party flashlight app can be used to access the brightness controls.
I would use the former rather than the latter...

If it's buried then it's buried so deep that it doesn't exist.

With Samsung there's no rythm or reason; double tapping or long pressing to access unindicted drop down menus. They are far and few in between so finding one tends to be a shock.
Another reason I seldom upgrade the firmware.
Maybe Sony is more sane but don't count on it.
Play with it...
I had to un-root the phone. When I rooted, the one app that could change the light intensity worked, but three other apps (financial and banking) said they would not start on a rooted phone and I never could get past that. Back to square 1 ;-(
Does anyone know the current version of an app like this? The application works well enough. But the problem is that two flash leds don't work at the same time. It lights up white or yellow alone, but both do not work at the same time. I have a Xiaomi Mi 9 device and I find the flash led running in the developer test interface of the device and the flash led running from the normal interface does not find a difference in lighting twice or three times.
