Which Rom and kernel combination would you prefer? - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I would like to make my OnePlus One better.
I'm using TurboRom and Lightning kernel and i'm not so happy with the battery life and performance.
What would you recommend ?

Dunno if this allowed on xda some sort of best rom/ kernel thread,
Any how I'm a big fan of darkobas with stock kernel or with derromtester his private kernel

[Request] Info about kernel dev and lunch target

@ All devs for the TF300T,
I just got a TF300T and was wandering a couple of things. I have been developing a rom for the advent vega (shuttle P10AN01) (ICS and JB). Since i got a TF300T i thought i might check some things over here.
What i am looking for are working kernel sources (hopefully in the 3.x range) and a lunch target. Are the ones on the CyanogenMod GitHub up to date for JB or are there others floating around?
This does not mean i will be actively developing for the TF300T, because the P10AN01 comes first at the moment.

You can check out my Jellybean kernel here:
https://github.com/loganmc10/android_kernel_asus_tf300t
that's a 2.6 kernel, based off the stock Asus one for the TF300T

Thanks for the link. Did you have a look at the nvidia rel-15r7 android kernel release?

I believe in keeping things as stock as possible. I had to make an exception for that kernel to get the WiFi working in Jellybean (using a 3.1 version of the bcmdhd driver), other than that it is the exact same kernel that Asus released on support.asus.com.
The guys that work on the TF201 look like they play with kernels a lot more so you might want to look at their work.

This is awesome! We need kernel development bad on the tf300t. I asked around to other developers they said they would help but... They don't have the device. When I get home I'll forward you there names.

I second this one. We need some devs to jump in

People,
Please read.. i wrote that i am developing for another tablet and that has to be finished first. Besides asking for information about kernel sources and asking about the development of the kernel does not mean that i am a kernel developer. The device (advent vega) is a tegra2 based device and thus using the kernel sources based on the nvidia kernel tree. That is why i asked because that source tree (current tag is rel-15r7) includes support for Tegra2 and Tegra3.
At the moment for me it is sniffing around and perhaps try a couple of things. That is how it works for me. That is the way it went with the advent vega.

if I know the first kernel is only for cm10 the second is not for overclocking.
There is a third kernel, MetalliKernel 10.1 cm9. But its only for cm9.

So there is no kernel that goes on the stock rom that you can overclock?

Questions should be asked in Q&A forums, not Development forums.
Thread moved.

No. Sadly this tablet does not have the best developer support.

you can overclock the stock kernel,
just root it, and modify the (cpu frequency scaling) script using text editor with root access

I would like to see more details about how I do that...
for example:
which text editor?
and more...
Maybe use setcpu?
I'm going to give it a try and report back, but probably need OC kernel
Thought I found a kernel to OC stock rooted but not working for me. Will not boot with new kernel.

Several issues on kernel.

For the Galaxy note 2 official source to expand the third party kernel and AOSP kernel, the difference is, where?
I refers to the functional and structural, rather than the source.
can i conversion between these two kernel?
how to converted?
How to make the official source to expand third-party kernel support 4.2.2?
such as: PARANOIDANDROID.....
any one, can you help me?
AW: Several issues on kernel.
Sorry, please try to paraphrase your issue. I have no idea what you want to do, and what's not working.

I think he is asking what are the differences between the AOSP/CM kernel versus the stock Touchwiz sources from Samsung.

That's making sense.
The biggest difference is the mali driver.
You could try replacing drivers/media/video/samsung with the one from cm sources. If your lucky enough, it just compiles fine, and should be booting

No Kernel development for N8000 - Why ?

Hello XDA community,
i have a short question : Why is the no Kernel development for our N8000 ?
There are brilliant Kernels for the N8010, but none for our device,
I wanted to start collecting donations for the N8000 Kernel- development ( Boeffla Kernel with GPU Control) but there were no responds.
B-Tight
Xcstacy kernel is under development again. And he's trying to merge GPU control, still has issues, but stay tuned.

I would like to get great kernels for my device. I have tested the latest. Xcstacy kernel but the performance of it is very bad for me the stock kernel was better.
Try boeffla. It is for n80xx

There is no concept of best kernel.
I suggest you to try out all of them on your own and us it for few days and check out what you need (battery life, performance etc)
The reason why I am telling this is because sometimes you'll get a good output from the kernel from which other users are unhappy with it.
You can read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/best-favorite-rom-kernel-roll-thread-t2886021/
My suggestions would be to try out AK or Boeffla first!
