Does anyone know how to clear the cache and dalvik cache on this phone after the Marshmallow update? I tried every combination of button presses and the only menu I got was their "maintenance menu" which doesn't offer any option to clear the cache. I also check some of the regular settings menus that I thought would make sense but couldn't find anything. Does anyone have any idea?
Thanks.
EDIT: Sorry, I threw a question mark into the topic title because I didn't want anyone to confuse this thread for a solution and not a question.
Go into recovery there's an option.
Turn off then hold Power, home, and volume down?

That combination brings me to a screen warning me that downloading custom ROMs can have unintended consequences and gives me the option to download a custom rom or restart the phone. Choosing the former just leaves it sitting on a download screen seemingly forever until you force it into the maintenance menu. Still no option to clear the cache. To be clear, I've never had any issue doing this on any previous phone or software version.
Home volume up and power.
Use the volume up down to move up and down the list. Then power to select.
Make sure you select cache, factory reset in the list all so.
That's why the ? ?

Do you mean that in recovery it will not select items?
Sent from my Nexus S 4G running CM7/franco.Kernel
I use Fix Broken Pro widget to lock the screen and No Lock app to unlock using volume down button.
I go to recovery using adb or Rom Manager. Then use back, menu, search, home buttons to go back, Scroll Down, Select and Scroll Up respectively.
Yea I can't select options in recovery or it'll continuously select reboot bootloader and I can never get into recovery mode

I guess I need to learn to flash through adb

If you are using cwm recovery, you don't need power button. Touch buttons are enough.
In CWM, do you see a message that says back button has been disabled? Somehow last night this was happening to me but in my case I simply pulled the battery and rebooted and all was fine. If it's acting up in the bootloader though I would suspect you have a hardware issue.

When I hold volume up and the power button to boot into the bootloader I can't select reboot recovery it just keeps selecting reboot bootloader since my power button is messed up

Wipe data and cache and then reboot. You might need to format and then remount system and then reflash the zip after wiping data/cache if that doesn't work.

You'll have to look up directions for that online. I've never even heard of your phone. If you can get into stock recovery then wipe everything and start over.

Let's hope the recovery method is the same as the newer version.
Found it here.
Here are the directions:
First of all, here is how to enter Recover Mode:
- Shut down your tablet if you have not done so
- Press and hold Volume Minus button
- Still holding Volume Minus button, hold the Power button
- When the screen displays the Android logo, release Power button but still holding on to the Volume Minus button
- After some time you will the recovery mode logo of an Android with molecules-like structures in its body, you can then release all buttons
- Wait a while more and you will enter Recover Mode, it says Android System recover on the top left
Looks similar to my Samsung one.
Problem solved guys
Thank you

With the information provided, you may be in a bootloop. You need to boot to recovery.
1. Hold the power button to force power down the phone.
2. Quickly release the power button and IMMEDIATELY press the power button and both buttons in the volume rocker simultaneously.
3. Hold all three buttons down until your phone boots into recovery.
4. If it fails to boot into recovery and continues to normal boot, start over at step 1.
5. If you successfully boot into your recovery, do a full wipe (factory reset), flash Avatar, gapps, wipe cache, wipe Dalvik (under advanced).
6. Reboot.
See if this works! Good luck!

Thanks, i gave that a try but no luck..might it be something mechanical? cuz like it just boots when i put the battery in even if i dont hit any buttons.. :S
Yeah, you have a faulty power button. Common problem, replace it and your problems will be solved.

If you don't want to spend money to replace it, you can simply slam the power button on any hard surface for a maybe 5 seconds and it will be fine. I have to do this every couple of weeks/months. If you have gotten your button fixed already, how did you do it?

So here's the deal, I get a prompt for the new android update so I let the phone do its thing. When it finally finished it was in recovery mode, for some unholy reason I decided to navigate the menu instead of just rebooting. I press Vol Down to nav downwards then I tried to press Vol Up but it wouldn't go up. Confused, I proceed to press the only other button on the Phone, the power button.
Long story short I ended selecting 'wipe cache partition', the phone got stuck, I did a hard reboot. The phone is finally booting up and 'optimising apps'. Finally in, I realised the phone is acting up, doesn't connect to network. I checked the IMEI number, returns nothing. Gg wp
Kind of freaking out, would appreciate any advice
Thank you
Follow the second method here but substitute the 4.4.3 factory image. And don't flash userdata.img

Hi,
I have an ATT LG G3. I've got it rooted, have done a NAND backup, and am now trying to flash a new ROM. I'm trying to get into recovery either via ADB or the old fashioned way by button press, but in either case--after commanding the phone to go to recovery--I seem to get stuck in fastboot mode instead. In tiny print it will say something like "processing fastboot commands" or "fastboot mode started" and then just hangs there....forever. I have to remove the battery and then the phone boots back up normally. But I just can't seem to get into recovery anymore.
Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
Sincerely,
Frustrated Noob
Power off your device and wait for 5-10 seconds until the device is fully switched off.
Press and hold ‘Volume Down + Power’ buttons together and release them as soon as you see the LG logo on your phone’s screen.
Now immediately press and hold the ‘Volume Down + Power’ buttons again until you see the ‘Hard reset screen’
Press power button once, and then again to confirm hard reset. If you have a custom recovery installed, your phone won’t hard reset and will boot into recovery mode.
Get the app quickboot. Doesn't work with lollipop yet though.

Thanks for replying. If you mean the "factory data reset" prompt, that just brings me to the fastboot screen again. Just tried it. Unless you're referring to another option???

Sound like u didn't install the bumped twrp. Just download the bumped twrp from the development thread and use flashify to flash it. Easiest way. Or u could follow there instructions. But flashify is easier. If u did already do this. Then I don't know why it's not booting into twrp recovery.
