Nvidia god damn Shield tablet lte at&t - Shield Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, Nvidia has final re released marshmallow for k1, thanks to at&t tho, the lte model still hasn't been pushed through. What the hell at&t? So I have to do a bunch of crap to get the update unofficially, (root, unlock bootloader etc.) I feel like I shouldn't have to do all this just to receive an update that should have been here already. The only reason this makes me angry it's because my Shield tablet is having touch screen issues out of nowhere and I'm hoping the new marshmallow update will fix this. I swear, I'm never getting a carrier branded device ever again. Looks like I should have gotten the pixel c.

Yep, I used Personal and N/A for company and url when applying and got approved without issues. Update applies with TWRP, and latest SuperSU beta seems to be working great.

What kills me is the original LTE wasn't a "carrier branded" device. It was sold unlocked LTE yet ATT bloatware comes as standard and after it is enabled can not be disabled! My non rooted stock 6.0.1 can no longer SMS after the 4.1 update, I have no relationship with ATT as I use an mvno. My text and data plan had been working flawlessly til now! Are you folks able to SMS on the 4.1 update?

Verizon will be Q4 or Q1 of 13.
Yeah Verizon blows. Q1 of '13 is a good estimate.
So do you guys know how to upgrade once this is released if I'm stock rooted? Do you have to unroot, update then root it again?

Some awesome dev out there will probably come out with a stock JB rooted for all of us to enjoy. Not saying that people like us shouldn't try, we should make an attempt to contribute to the community.
It only took a short while for NoSympathy to make a version of the stock rom that was easy to modify (deodexed) and rooted. Roms based off of that will follow, and will also be CWM flashable.
Don't hold ur breath. im sure one of our great devs will get it to us way before VZW does.

"coming soon" lol!
First, the update will be released OTA direct from Samsung for the international version (4-core Exynos).
Next, the update will be released to GSM carriers (2-core Krait, OpenSource radios)
Next, the update will be released Sprint (2-core Krait, CDMA closed-source radios)
Next, the update will be released by GSM carriers via OTA.
Next, the update will be released by Sprint via OTA
Next, Google will ship the 'K' variant (either 4.2 or 5.0 likely) to GSM Nexus devices.
Next, Verizon will soak-test the OTA on 6 devices.
Next, Verizon will send it back to have new versions of their ****ware loaded into /system.
Next, Verizon will soak-test the updated ota on 10 more devices.
Next, Samsung will release the 'K' variant via OTA to international GSM carriers.
Next, Verizon will send the update back to tweak more nanny settings including making it more difficult for third party tethering and Nav.
Next, Verizon will release 2 new phones pre-loaded with the 'K' variant.
Finally, Verizon will release the OTA for the rest of their customers. This will happen around July of '14, right around the time when most people who bought the GS3 will be ready to upgrade again.
Nice ^^^^

The worst part is most of you are right but we all hope your horribly wrong. Our phone doesn't even need JB right now, we need some updates that fix a ton of problems. Some of which are already fixed in the International versions. Terrible signal and music playback problems are my main ones.
Hope at least a stable Rom comes out when the international update is released!!

Your signal got worse with this phone too, huh?
I came from a Bionic. Never lost 4G in my apartment and never got "text failed" messages. Now unless I go to one corner of my apartment, messages will not send or receive, nor will calls. And forget 4G. Thank God for Wi-Fi

New LTE-A update

I saw on the T-Mobile website that this week we will be getting the August and September Security updates plus LTE-A support to get is 194mbps downloads and uploads with a maximum of 400mbps on the network possible. SO we will be getting an update with faster network speeds. Also there will also be a new gallery app and also the cloud support thing. I do think that they patched the root from what I have been hearing. I do also know that we are getting the update by the end of this week. YAH.
Link?
Article I saw said "later this month"... (Which technically fits with your end of the week timeline ?)

I tried via my phone and via SamFirm and no update yet.
So we're getting 2 software updates one this month and another next month. The article also says "Customers with the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will be able to use this new technology with a software update in October, with more phones on the way." For the 256 QAM and 64 QAM.
I'd the update don't hit your area why even bother. Denver needs it more than any other state why? Well in you live here you would have noticed the influx of people ever since 2012 when weed was made legal. Such ****ty speeds I had to remove my unlimited option because I was never getting more than 4gb at a time thanks to the horrible signal

In order to get the higher speeds, would only the modem need to be updated? If so, rooted phone users could just flash the modem and not need to be impacted by the "security" updates.

I wanted to know which features are taken away compared to the exynos version or comparing them to different carriers. Auto Rotate Issues w/ latest update?

After returning it and getting an S7 she hasn't seen a security patch since. She is sitting on Samsung's newest flagship and it's on October's security patch. Sorry to keep bugging you but could you please check in your Settings then About Device then scroll down to Android security patch level and let us know what it states (for example January 1, 2017)? OR in the same section, maybe you can also check what the Android Version is... It would be nice if you got the Nougat update/7.x!
If you have the February 1, 2017 patch then that's what most of us are waiting for to fix these issues! If you are still on the January patch then we need to look for another answer/fix.
Thanks in advance for your help!

It was released randomly for the SM-N920C 2 ¹/² weeks ago in Turkey...
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=71465602
...so it shouldn't be too much longer for the rest of the world to get it. Depends on when your service provider decides to release it though. I asked T-Mobile when it would be for SM-N920T and they pretty much said that they weren't allowed to say, that it would be sometime in the near future and just to keep an eye out for it. No one knows when it will be released, but literally EVERYONE is waiting for this, so believe me you'll know when it arrives on XDA.

Here's a write up about the Sprint Note 5
http://phandroid.com/2017/04/06/sprint-galaxy-note-5-nougat-update/
Folks rocking the Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will want to be on the lookout for an OTA to hit their phone. It’s Nougat!
The update is coming in as version N920PVPU3DQC5, a 1.4GB affair. It’ll be receiving all of Nougat’s new features and those which Samsung are delivering as part of a big upgrade to TouchWiz. It may even make your phone feel brand new, though we aren’t promising anything. Oh, and its security patches are fairly up to speed with a March 1st, 2017 level.
Anyway, for such a massive file size you’ll want to make sure you’re on a WiFi connection and have a decently charged battery (let’s say more than 50% to be on the safe side) before attempting to pull it down. Head to the settings menu on your phone to look for it manually if it hasn’t already hit your notifications tray.

Yea I read this yesterday
Sounds like the ATT folks began getting the update yesterday. How far behind can TMO be?
Verizon just got theirs......so it looks like T-Mobile is last.

I made this tutorial awhile ago for people with root to still be able to receive the update. Doesn't work if you're currently using a Nougat rom though. Can be done easily however from either stock Marshmallow or a Marshmallow rom that's based on your devices firmware.

EDIT: Oh...I forgot you commented on it. Guess you already knew about it. [emoji14]
Tmobile SOON 7.0
I wonder why all the other major US carriers have it out and TMO does not. I hope it is not an indication that the TMO version has bugs.
Could be they wanna make sure it is good for us first. I have heard about the other carriers releasing buggy updates to just get them out...lol we can hope anyway
