Wifi doesn't turn off even "Keep wifi on during sleep" = "Never" - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hi all,
I have set "Keep wifi on during sleep" = "Never". But when I turn off screen or sleep over night, Wifi is always on.
Attached the screen shot from GSAM battery, Doze mode is active, "Keep wifi on during sleep" = "Never", but Wifi still on. This takes away 10% of my battery over night.
Does anyone get this problem?

maybe you have an app keeping WiFi on? this works for my s7...

Same is happening with my galaxy S7 edge. Are you rooted ?

Just noticed same happens to my s7 edge. European model, no root.

Yeah. It happened after the new PD1 update. You can just forget the network and add it. It seemed to fix it for me

Go to Settings, Location, there's a menu called Improve Accuracy (ίσως βελτιστοποίηση στα Ελληνικά) and it allows the WiFi and Bluetooth to keep scanning even when off. Disable this feature and you should be fine.

What does exactly this option? Is it disabling wifi even when I turn off the screen or only after some times that phone isn't used?

Is for turning off wifi when the phone goes to sleep mode, most of the times this happens after some minutes after you turn off the screen provided phone hasn't any task to do.

You can, your phone when it needs it still uses your mobile data.

But mobile data consume more battery than wifi, so what's the point to disable wifi during standby? I just want to understand

Yeah I also thinking of that but i'am not so sure that is a fact. Why in the first place then exist this option, if you go for wifi always on it says it consumes more battery, if you go for mobile data it says consumes more data. If someone knows more about about this I would like to learn it also.

I think it depends on the network coverage in the area you are at any particular time. For example, at my old house coverage was pretty abysmal, so if I had mobile data turned on the battery drained like crazy. WiFi was a more stable connection as it only depended on a router a few metres away that for the most part worked as it should.

So, are you saying that in a good cover area the "wifi active in standby = never" is useful?
Because if you don't use wifi when the screen is off, you will use mobile data anyway. So where is the "saving"?

It really depends. For example, some people are on contracts with limited mobile data, so they want to use wifi as much as possible. In terms of battery consumption, I don't think there's a huge difference, apart from when in extreme circumstances, like a low signal area, as I mentioned above.

Wifi is draining power

Hy
My asus is working fine, but when I let my Wifi on and have my dock attached I lose 10% in 12 hours
Can anyone help me with a few ideas?
Thanks guys

i simply turn off the wifi when im not going to be usung it for a while. it uses a lot of Push data delivery systems so thats why i think it would drain as quick as it does..
thats crazy! I'm having a similar problem, i turn on my screen and it seems to lose power faster than when i don't have it on!!!!
Whatever could my problem be!

You are funny, and I am sorry
It's losing power while I turned it off or better I put it to sleep and it still using lots of power without doing anything
I hope that is a little bit better?

Like I said.. simple solution, disable the wifi. Or change the apps to not Push or to pull for updates over longer time intervals so reduce the ti,e wifi needs to stay connected in the background. when I've just disabled wifi the battery drain is next to nothing.
EDIT: There is also the option to auto-disable wifi when the screen is off in the settings

Battery Saver

Hi to all,
I am looking for an application of the "Juice Defender" type. I installed the Green Power Pro application but I was somewhat disappointed. In fact, I had entered a whole list of app in the whitelist so that the connection is active when I launch the application, but once two connections do not launch when I launch the app.
I am looking for a similar app that also allows you to enter a list of application that when launched Kindle data or wifi connection.
Thx
Maybe greenify is the app you're looking for?
But you asked in the wrong section. All questions should be posted in Q&Q Thread

If your rooted, you could use Gravity Box's Smart Radio.
I have 2G enabled when I'm not using the phone. Good reception for texting, easy to send things and good battery.

I recreated Juice Defender via Tasker. Took more playing around then I expected, but it's working well now.

Phone suddenly dead. Can anybody help?

I was already noticing that my battery was starting to drain faster than usual, but yesterday it completely died. The battery said it was 100%, as soon as I unplugged it it was 0%, and then it wouldn't charge anymore.
This morning I replaced the battery with one that was confirmed working, it wouldn't turn on. I connected the charger and it went into an infinite reboot loop, it would show the battery charge screen with the battery and a loading circle on it. And then reboot, repeating this all the time. I haven't tried putting the original battery back.
I am now at school, but does anybody have any idea what's going on?

Just got the same update. Only difference i can see is there is a battery monitor to tell you what apps are using the battery the most
Gear app kept failing to update for me, so i uninstalled it, now i can install it at all. Perhaps they have suspended it, untill the release of the s3.
I noticed on the watch itself it has an option to manage notifications if you scroll left (if there's no active notifications there) but tapping it says ! Failed.
Though it's giving me problems. Not all my notifications are showing up now like they used to. Default SMS app notifications come through and calendar reminders. But Gmail and Facebook messenger aren't coming through (probably more, don't know of yet). Verified they're still set to show notifications on watch.

Increase Battery Life by doing this.

I have found out that samsung's App power monitor actually drains battery !
This is my normal drain .

Example of battery life

This is app power monitor turned off (located in device management>Battery >3 dots>slider to off)

And does turning app power monitor off cause background applications to drain battery over time ? The answer is no.
Unplugged my phone at 100% with 20 apps opened in the background .Woke up the next morning seeing 3% battery drain only. (whatsapp msg led was blinking all night too )

Few people at the S8/S8+ group on whatsapp did say it improved their sot/standby abit.
Do you have anything else tweaked? Are you using any package disablers?
