Do you know for sure if B&O Hi-Fi module is perfectly compatible with H830 ?

At this time there is not a compatible version, currently the B&O module is only available overseas

oh wait, HTC does this too (removed Verizon support from A9). Samsung does this too (promise support for major updates, but nope).
over-promise, under-deliver.... which always happens. go with Apple if you want something delivered in a better way, but you don't get root/jailbreak easily

Ordered mine. Over night delivery. Hoping they ship today!
So I guess no package deal with a gamepad? I thought there was an official announcement that there would be a $250 package.
Anyone have any recommendations for a gamepad to go along with the gear vr?

Damnit, guess I pulled the trigger too soon. Thanks though.
Now I'm dying to see if we can get it to work with CM12. I'll be using CM12 as a daily driver and IF Gear VR works on CM12 then I might buy it. But if it doesn't work, it's not worth the $200 and forced use of TouchWiz. I'd also accept MultiROM if we could get it out our devices, but that also seems unlikely.
Anyway, glad to see Gear VR finally on the market! Hope y'all enjoy it.
Oculus APK
I have the google cardboard, does anyone know if the Oculus apk will be available to those who don't have the VR headset? I was just hoping to check it out before I bought the VR dev kit.
No Gear VR for me. I have glasses.

It has focal adjustment which allows you to adjust the lenses if you're short sighted or long sighted
I'm waiting for it to come out on Amazon as I have some gift cards to use. At the moment they already have a skin protector kit but no actual headset

Shouldn't be surprised, that is their motto after all...
"Verizon - Screwing Customers Every Way Possible"
Just letting everyone know this is the Innovator Edition meaning you can buy it, but its really a technology release for early adapters of technology and developers. If the technology doesn't take off.... there's a chance they may just scratch this product. Just an FYI....
I didn't catch the incompatibility thing in the description. Is that in the official website?
Mine is sitting here waiting for the update... VZ told me the 18th. I have screen shots of the chat session. Hopefully that was a cautionary date and the rollout will begin today.

Yup totally ok with it! It's cheaper than a standalone pair of video goggles and can work just like one if all else fails.

It's on their website now, was not yesterday. I spoke with Samsung and they said they found out from Verizon this morning and added it to the site then.
I was just about to by this today, but something told me to hold off and wait and I'm glad that I did. I just seen an article on Android Central stating that it wasn't compatible with Verizon or Sprint variants of the Note 4 at this time, and that the updates will be pushed out by the carriers.
If I would have spent $236 for this device and overnight shipping only to have a temporary plastic paper weight, I would have been extremely pissed.

Ahhh! Nice. I would definitely want to try these out first, though. Seeing is believing.
Also... A friend of mine asked me why Samsung chose to have the plastic overlay over the back of the phone. It blocks the camera. Did they not want people turning on the camera and stumbling around an augmented reality world or something?

If you had a rooted Sprint phone, you could probably steal the required app from a T-Mo device.

[Q] Google Playstore

I have a ton of applications I bought and use from the Google Playstore. Is it preloaded (or can it be easily installed) on the Mate 8?
If not it is pretty useless for me. Thanks!
It can be installed. Most sellers shipping it internationally will preload it for you.

Huawei has had Google Play on its international phones for years. My first Android phone was a Huawei running Froyo and it had offical Google Play. Phone Arena has photos and specs and if you look at the first photo, you'll see the Google Play icon on the screen. http://www.phonearena.com/phones/Huawei-Mate-8_id9766/videos

Just noticed, according to honormi website, they will pre install google play if asked. Also, the Champagne gold with 4GB ram and 128GB memory seems like a good deal ($789) relative to other prices I've seen quoted from other dealers. Is this much more than what would be Huawei's price?
Any better deals out there?

If you can wait, CES and Barcelona are coming up soon. Lots of new devices will be previewed. I'm more likely to order the Mate 8 once the international version is launched (supposedly during Q1 of 2016, but it might get pushed back to Q2). Given the inclusion of FUD LTE band 17--essential for much of AT&T's 4G market, especially all the Verizon western markets that it bought when big red had to divest itself of those markets during the Alltel aquisition--and the fact that the online US Huawei store has had only one phone with US 4G LTE bands that work for both T Mobile and AT&T, I really expect to see Huawei launch this in the US via their store. Look for Huawei to announce a US launch at CES. At least, I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I didn't buy the 7 because my AT&T 4G LTE market uses FUD LTE band 17 and the 7 is missing it.

Yes, patience is a virtue here! I'm on T-mobile so bands 2 and 4 are all that is needed for LTE so I'm covered in that regards. T-mobile does not use band 17. Be interesting if a Mate 8 shows up at CES for US. Wonder if a different processor will be used for that. Any idea what might be on the horizon?

I don't think any of the international versions will use a different processor. I think the differences won't be that great, just official Google Play and maybe some different software packages. Prices will be higher than in China.

The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday that Huawei will sell the Mate 8 in the US. In fact, the article indicates that the company will begin to focus more on more on North America next year.
Good, the built-in huawei app manager has a link to install Google Play! It actually works fine
I'm working in Shanghai and just got my mate 8 delivered this morning.
Per past exp on using huawei devices, it's easy to install gapps as there are gapps installers available in the preloaded huawei app store.
Personal comment of Mate 8 on gapps installation, compatibility and setup may be more complicated than previous models. may be because of Android 6.0? China ver users may expect to be with more patients at the beginning. Until the international ver has released with more regions' stock rom options.....
I won't recommend to have selling party to pre-install the gapps. better keep the packing as new. it's really easy as just donwload the gapps installer and run it!
BTW, just a reminder, original packing from China ver has come with original leather flip case, and it gets a protector on the screen.....

Interested in this. Do you just need to install Google Play Store, or are there more files to download along side it?
Also I heard that there are issues for not allowing it enough memory so it crashes when download large games like 1gb +. If this is the case, how do you increase memory space and what else should I do during the setup?

LG V20 H990DS Dual Sim UK

I've received mine today and so far so good.
Using EE and Vodafone sim plus 128gb Sd Card.
I'm going to be testing 4g when i step out for both networks, don't have the best of signals within my house.
Sd card works without any silly error messages or compatibility issues.
Not noticed any Chinese bloatware at all which i a plus, full english os.
So far so good
If you have any questions give me a shout.
I can confirm this version works on all 4 G networks no issues. I've tried EE, Vodafone, O2 and 3.
thanks
Hi Riz
Can you get rid of that fourth button (dual sim) in the navbar if you don't use a second sim ? I think it's a bit distracting.
yes you can
Changed display size to small which is fantastic.
Thanks!
And yes, i think I will like this option to set the display size too.
May I ask where you ordered it from? I found many vendors on Ebay stating 'shipped from UK', but I want to make sure it won't come from Asia and I will not have to pay any custom fee.
Sure it was delivered from UK London.
It was from allanelectronic
100% positive feedback
Arrived earlier then estimated date which is top notch
Responds to queries very quickly i asked loads of questions and answered every single one.
No bloatware etc

You should be fine on the box it clearly states LTE 800 2600.
So far so good no real issues and I'm very happy with my purchase. Nougat is fantastic and some of the dark LG themes are brilliant,
Ui has improved vastly, I recommend it over any other android phone. I've had Pixel XL, Iphone 7 plus, S7 Edge, Huawei p9 plus but v20 is unique mainly due to the second screen.
Camera is excellent
Love the dual sim benefit
My only issue is I wish the build quality was better, wish it was more like the iPhone 7 plus. I prefer heavier phone just gives it a more premium feel.

Also I'll only root if there's no real risk and I don't feel comfortable just yet.

Thinking of coming over from Samsung?

Greetings;
I'm almost convinced to sell my Sammy S8+ and buying an HTC U11!
What I need to know is this: is there an advantage to get a specific variant
over another as far as the "Rom/Kernel Development" goes?
I live in Canada but can also import one or even get a "US unlocked" unit.
Thank you.

Well, those of us who have been with HTC since the beginning of time welcome you with open arms... but before that, there's a few things we have to go over on our "Are-You-Worthy-Of-The-HTC-Phone-Checklist"
1. Do you constantly wish you could change your phone to fit your needs (you're that guy that always has something unique or flashy on their phone)?
2. Are you a nerd, geek or maybe have high aspirations to be either (Blessed are the nerds, for they shall inherit the earth)?
3. Are you a selfless, confident guy who values quality and uniqueness over useless features?
4. Do you promise to remain faithful, year after year, even if HTC fails to produce devices worthy of your C.H.C (cold hard cash)?
If so, then I recommend going after the regular Unlocked HTC U11 (US version). International version from my experience though comes with dual sims, take longer to get updates and other critical software improvements.
Ditch Sammy and grab the HTC. You might even find yourself with a sexy nerdy chick on your arm! :good:

I've got the U.S. unlocked version and it has 2 sims or it can be used with 1 sim and an sdcard.
My suggestion is get the 6GB/128GB unlocked version ... this way you can use both simslots if you need to and still have more than enough storage.

Beamed in by telepathy.
This thing flies! I'm not sure if it's because I disabled animation in Developer options but this is really fast! The unit is slippery at the same time for me it feels very nice to hold. Premium build as expected from HTC. And yes the camera...its great! 6GB/128GB here?
Just got it in Black. S8 display was to narrow for me.

Well I went from the s8+ to the G6, lasted 1 day back to the s8+ then I got the OnePlus 5. Ditched the s8+ for the oneplus. Lost the great display but gained a smooth lag free experience. Then I got a great deal on the HTC U11. Never considered HTC before that. Never been a fan of touch U11 and their cameras we always ****ty. So when the U11 Dxomark rated 90 came along it seemed like an obvious choice. So now I got rid of the oneplus 5 and I'm rocking the U11 until the note 8 comes along.
The U11 software experience is just as smooth as the oneplus 5 with half the ram so better than the s8+. Only downside imo is the UI it's very dated. It basically looks like kit kat. The theming engine is laughable and sense is way too invasive. On the upside the design and finish is great, the screen is surprisingly good and the sound is also very good. So in the end somehow HTC U11>Oneplus5 >S8+
And yeah no lag.
Did I mention no lag... ?

Well I went from the s8+ to the G6, lasted 1 day back to the s8+ then I got the OnePlus 5. Ditched the s8+ for the oneplus. Lost the great display but gained a smooth lag free experience. Then I got a great deal on the HTC U11. Never considered HTC before that. Never been a fan of touch U11 and their cameras we always ****ty. Thank you for your reply.
And I also thought about OP5, I mean excellent price, power and software and unreal Dev activity,
almost like the "Nexus" what use to be! But as soon as I sell my S8+, I'll get a U11.

Oh yeah. Oneplus has definitely taken over the Nexus mantle. Lots of bang for your buck with a thriving development community. The only reason that made me go with the U11 is the better camera. I'm not sure which provider you're with. I'm with Telus and I lost my LTE + with the U11 had it on both the s8+ and the OP5 just in case that sort of thing matters to you. ?

Of course it does. I've been with Rogers for a while now but bought a "Public Mobile" SIM card but haven't switched yet and
as you probably know PM use Telus bands. Don't you have the Canadian variant of U11?

That's the thing. I have no idea. Bought it off of Kijiji. I have no idea where to find the info. Don't know if I have the Canadian, us, or international variant.

Flashfire should be only used in Combination with a full Wipe (Included in the Patch as Option). All Models are Supported which are powered by Qualcomms Snapdragons. Unlikely we don't get Snapdragon Samsungs in Europe, otherwise would i buy One...
How's the Situation on the Galaxy S8 Models? AOSP available? Or just Root on Stock? I know European Models are unlockable but this isn't worth a sh** since it's powered by Exynos!? Very unsatisfying out of My View...

Im on Verizon US model ( Snapdragon ) bootloader is locked is why i asked about FF. As far as i know i dont think there are any aosp roms available for exynos version either.. even with their bootloader unlocked. I may be wrong about that though. US model is Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 i believe

Exynos + AOSP = Pain
Snapdragon + Locked Bootloader = Pain
Not seeing back since My Note 4 (Snapdragon). Last Samsung Device with Snapdragon in Europe or just the last Snapdragon Samsung Device with unlocked Bootloader...
Samsung is acting like a better Apple. Sad, i like the Design if i ignore the Quiet Mono Speaker on the S and Note Devices. And My Patch is Qualcomm Exclusive since Exynos would not support that much of Other Devices and most of Qualcomms Techs will be never available on Exynos Devices (Even with AOSP). So i would really like to see You Guys unlocked! You have such a great Hardware Base. It's a shame
