Samsung Theme Designer here...
I'm a graphic designer with about 9 years of experience working in the industry. I was following the news about Samsung opening up their theme editor to the U.S. in late 2015 and jumped on it when it was finally released for the states. I was accepted as a theme designer by Samsung in December 2015 after a 3 month vetting process. Keep in mind that I had a full portfolio to submit from my years of experience as a graphic designer.
It took me a few months to get my first design up and going in the Theme Store but after a lot of tweaking and back and forth with Samsung's QA team I finally got it certified and in the Theme Store. My first theme is called "OldCRT" and I've done a few different color variations of it. It is a theme based off a game I enjoy and I intend to do more based off other games/movies/comics. Which reminds me... if any of you are wanting specific themes designed for your S6/Note 5 or higher then let me know.
I'm writing all of this for a few reasons. I'm mostly doing this to share my experience, answer questions and also to find other approved designers because there seems to be hardly any actual American designers allowed into their circle... or they may all be hiding... at least from what I've been able to google. The other reason is because I just found this site and wanted to ask the community for any design ideas (if you send me any requests please keep in mind that I cannot create any themes using intellectual property).
With all of that said... Are there any other approved Samsung Theme Designers here? It would be great to have a conversation about this process and maybe help each other with any problems.
Hi there, I was wondering if you would be interested in making some dark material design themes.
Im from new zealand and here we don't have the paid theme store, we just get free themes, so the amount of themes we can choose from is very limited.
I cant found many material themes, like dark grey and red for example.
Just an idea!

Hey and thanks for your work!
I would like some AMOLED friendly themes with Material in mind, with true black backgrounds to take advantage of this great display and battery efficiency.
Of course my opinion is my own, but I'm not a fan of full black themes. It just doesn't look good compared to the dark material colors. I would love to see more material dark that has a bit of white here and there. I'm currently using the touchwiz 6.0 dark right now

Hey guys!
I am developer Samsung themes to 8 months and I am owner of TouchWiz 6.0 themes and derivatives. I have 33 themes in the store, 28 are paid as Bleen, Nix, Bleex, TouchOS, Strilex, Strix, Filx, Onyx and more. All my themes follow the guidelines of Material Design. If anyone has any requests, just send me a message here or on private. Here are a few demonstrations of my themes.

Also, I would like to see some "clean" themes on the store. Note that I can't buy themes from the store since I'm not in one of the 14 supported countries, so I can't see if there are any themes that resembles these.
I like themes in this style. It doesn't necessarily need to be dark, but it's very clean and there are no logos, cats, balloons or weird stuff going on here:

Hi I wanted to know is samsung store the only place available for themes for non rooted phones or are their alternative stores and can they be side loaded without disabling the store.
No I'm using theme called "Blue and Black AMOLED" (you can find it in Samsung's theme store). It will be cool if someone could edit only the blue parts of the theme and change it to black. It will be fantastic if it is even possible.
The second thing, a question.
I'm using Nova Launcher and icon pack called Cyrcle. Is there and app, Xposed module or something that allows me to change the theme app icons on the Apps Edge panel to Cyrcle icon pack?

All my themes based in TouchWiz 6.0 are free but is only available for Lollipop.
Could anyone do a themes based on Android 6.0 or coming N design icon. Appreciate change all Samsung stock icons. Just icon only without changing others.
I really hope I can see a themes that only change the icons. I like Samsung stock design and color but not the icon.

I was curious, what does designing a theme entail? Is there an application that allows you to incorporate your graphics, dictate colors, etc? Or does it entail a lot of programming? I may be interested in designing themes as well.

Hey guys,
I want to show you my first app "Exquisite Drawer" which I have just released to Play Store.
You can get it right here:
Lite Version: Exquisite Drawer Lite
Pro Version: Exquisite Drawer Pro
You want to know which changes made it recently to the app?
Here you go. Changelog in Post #2
This app I wanna share with you is a replacement for your standard App Drawer.
Now you might think:
"What the heck? Nobody needs this since every phone has already an App Drawer"
Click to collapse
And you are right. But then. Go into your apps and look......
Does it look good? Really?
I don't think so. And this is the reason why I created Exquisite Drawer.
What is different with this app? Why would you want to download?
That's a good question. To answer this let me show you some screenshots:
From these Images you can get a lot of information what the app is able to do but I will list the main features here:
- Change Colors of Text and Background individually (so there is no dependency on other elements)
- Enable or Disable sertain UI Elements for your liking (such as Actionbar or Titlestrip)
- Change Textsizes
- Use system or inbuilt font
Also you have the ability to display two different images within Exquisite Drawer.
One on top of the Applist and the other below.
So every time you want to launch an app you will see your favourite image.
The best thing about this is that those images do not affect your workflow since they scroll out of view.
Another exciting Feature is the inbuilt Theme-Switcher. For now there are 6 different designs which can be applied by only one click. At the end of this Post you will see them all.
What else to mention?
The lite version is a stripped down version of the app.
But you get a bunch of features over there too:
- Theme Chooser
- Change background color of Titlestrip
- Change fontsize of Titlestrip
- Hide Applicationicons
- Hide Actionbar
- Enable/disable Headerimage and/or Footerimage
- Choose a custom picture
- Choose side of Navigationdrawer
What are the pro only features?
- Use a custom Font from your sd-card
- Change background and font color of Actionbar, Applist, Navigationdrawer
- Change Textsize of Applist and Navigationdrawer
- Disable various Itemdividers
When I say you can change the color you propably thing about a list of predefined Colors which you can choose from.
But this is not the truth.
Infact you can choose any color you can imagine.
This screenshot shows the Colorpicker:
The same for Fontsizechanger which can be choosen incrementally.
So this was a quite long post. And when you reach this point I wanna thank you. Now there are only some Images to come. At first you will see the whole bunch of settings which are available and after that you will see all of the available Designs.
I hope you like it.
Ocean Blue:
Red Fire:
Purple Rain:
Gaucous:
Soft:
Black 'n' White:
Here are the links again. Just for convenience:
Lite Version: Exquisite Drawer Lite
Pro Version: Exquisite Drawer Pro
Thank you so much for reading all of this. If you have suggestions, problems or other genereal feedback please feel free to comment to this post.
I will try to answer it as fast as possible.
Changelog
Version 1.5.7
- Two new Designs added "Xda Light" and "Xda Dark"

Thank you very much
ok having to write this all again cause it failed previously and message disappeared
anyways i wasn't really expecting anything special when i came here but was curious to see what it was about. so i decided to take it for a quick test drive and i must say im pretty impressed. even considering that it was just a lite version an all lol
the theme options are pretty cool even on their own. (pro allows more color/customizing of course). i was digging the simplistic black n white look too! also like the long hold app option that allows you to go pro, launch app, show app in play store and uninstall app. nice job there!! although i was slightly curious why purple rain & black n white theme didn't have these options?
overall was working smooth, don't remember coming across any bugs which is very good!! couldn't test battery life cause only used for a short period but im pretty sure it wouldn't have affected it much!
well want to say, keep doing what your doing dev! thumbs up from me!! :good:

Great app, keep up on the designs.
Really promising I like to keep my device nice and minimal looking and this does the trick nicely. Cant use it as my default just yet as I rely on custom groups and categories to organise my millions of apps. But it looks like thats on your to do list so keep up the good work. I'll be sure to keep checking back!

What a fantastic app! Have to admit I wasn't sure what to expect, but I have to say it is awesome and I've already purchased the pro version. Well worth $1.30. I would've paid twice that. Very functional and visually impressive. Can't wait to see where the development goes in the future. Great, great job!

This is definitively on my To Do list. But I actually don't know when it will be available. The next thing I am working on is to improve the overall performance and loading process. When this is ready for primetime I will implement new features such as:
- custom Categories
- hiding Apps (with a special feature )
- Exporting and Importing Designs
- Iconpack support
and many other things.
Thank you for your suggestion.
Also to everybody:
If you feel that anything is missing just write me. Also when you think that some strings should be improved just say something and I will look into it.
Really great. Thanks

Thanks a lot, finally found the theme store BUT all I see there are launcher themes
and icons for the touchwiz launcher.
I did not see that black dialer screen or any other parts of that black theme.
Here is what I mean, I am looking to find the black theme like the screenshot below
of the dialer which sooty posted which would also contain matching black themed
screens for the other parts of the phone like contacts, settings messaging and other
stock screens of the phone.
So I guess that the theme store is only for those people who want to use and theme
their stock touchwiz launcher, it's icons and nothing else.
I don't even use the touchwiz launcher but I would love to get that black dialer screen
which sooty posted along with all the other matching black themed parts of the phone.
What I am looking for is a complete dark/black background theme which includes a dialer
similar to the one which sooty posted. Why he posted the dialer screenshot I will never know.
Thanks for your help.

Can someone put a link here for complete black theme. Its confusing & takes time to search.
EDIT: ok i found it. Very nice theme. Has any one tried on NOTE4 or will it work on note 4 by any means??
More pictures of the themes and store download location need to browse to 277.
Comps look amazing, actual theme is not impressive at all. Thanks for the update though, obviously this theme is just not for me.
The theme looks much different when its installed vs the mockup the OP included in his post... all that time searching for the theme, and was disappointed.
I had created a new theme for our Honor 5Xs (and Honor 7), Spectrum Pure.
Spectrum Pure is simple - it takes the stock theme, Spectrum, and removes the odd icon backgrounds and the customised icons. This is not actually as simple as it sounds - the stock 'icons' file on the Honor 5X containts 1128 customised icons (yes, you read that right)! Since these are on the system partition and can't be changed, I wrote a custom script to download the stock icons for these apps from the Play Store for integration into theme, giving apps their proper icons back. Phew!
Install by copying to /sdcard/HWThemes as usual and apply using the 'Themes' app.
I've included a couple of screenshots below so you can see the difference. Theme developers, if you'd like to use this theme as a basis for your own, feel free.
DOWNLOAD: SpectrumPure.hwt [ROMraid]
Enjoy!

Works great! Thanks!
Note on download to my Honor 5X it appeared as a txt file had to change the extension back to hwt. I downloaded to my PC and it kept the hwt extension.
Really like this theme you did great

Guys - I have unlocked and extensively used custom ROMs on my last few phones. My Honor 5X is unlocked and I am looking to do the same. For those, and we all have been noobie, this is a simple 5 minute update that transforms the 5x. Do it. It also has fantastic lock screens. Can't thank paulobrien enough.
You're gonna like what's coming up then @Bear100. ☺

Smart Cover Wallpaper
The theme is great, but the only thing that isn't covered is the smart cover wallpaper. Has anyone been able to figure out how to control that wallpaper? I've seen a lot of threads all over the place asking about this for various Huawei phones. I have the Marshmallow update and right now for some stupid reason they have it using two wallpapers. You have some space wallpaper in the background, then a smaller wallpaper that features the stock theme wallpaper, but shrunken...it doesn't fill the window of the smart cover. It looks terrible. I've found the spot in themes to place a cover wallpaper, but it is like there is something in the ROM that overlays another...for a lack of a better word, <div> section that always defaults to the stock wallpaper. It wouldn't be so bad if it filled the entire screen, but it doesn't and it's annoying.
EDIT - apparently this is a common issue for everyone using a Huawei phone. Here's a screenshot of what it it looks like. You can see an image in the far background that I set, but the stock one still displays over it in a smaller window. Looks like crap in the case's window.
Thank you! Appreciate it so much!

Should that matter? I tried many stock themes from other huawei phones on the Honor 7 and its the same. I thought the point of this theme, as said in the first post, is that there is a script to take the icons from play store.
I don't have the real stock theme of Honor 7 since I installed a 'spectrum' theme on Honor 7 before marshmallow update and after the update it kept this one instead of writing over it. And spectrum is the only stock theme in the marshmallow roms.

Changelog:
v1.1 - 16/12/16
- Package name changed to Pixel
- Grey colours adjusted to look more Pixel-like
- Status bar colour fixed
v1.2 - 16/12/16
- Settings white strip fixed
- Wallpapers changed
- Dialer now themed
Known issues: (on Nougat 4)
- Calendar upper bar is white along with the text - unreadable (for now)
- Device manager is not and cannot be skinned (yet)
Hello,
Are these themes working on Nougat? Because i get an error when i try to install them.
Thanks in advance!
Me too, i can't install
Nice work, but if you name it 'Pixel' maybe you try to use the original color palette. This would be awesome
You should notice that samsung introduce a top panel in system settings in beta 4 where the font color is white. With material light background color you won't be able to read it.
I understand why dark colors were used, probably to save power. Very nice, I hope it will work on Nougat. Just bought an Edge. Love the hardware, hate the Samsung-look.
will this work without root?

Only pitch black can save power. The power consumption between white and dark grey (on same brightness) is nearly the same.
Package seems to be corrupt error when trying to install. Pleas fix this

Yes, it will work without root but you after you apply this theme, you will need to disable Samsung themes and Theme services. And... you have to do it every time the phone restarts, unfortunately

Maybe you can have a look at the other published 'pixel' theme in Samsung theme store. There exist only one other theme for Samsung Marshmallow which is called 'Pixel'.
The official color platte you will find here.
Remeber that new 'Pixel' style are rounded icons like
There are some Google Apps that do not have received an update yet with rounded icons. But official google Pixel launcher (download here) will tranform every non rounded in a rounded one. Therefore for a 'complete' theme on graceUX (successor of touchwiz on Nougat) you need to consider this.
If you work on, I will pay for a good Pixel theme :good:
Edit:
For Example this is the Pixel dialer look.

Oh, that's valuable info. I will be working on it tonight Btw. I don't really like those new uniform icons, that's why I included stock Marshmallow icons. I will be creating a Pixel icon pack for those who want Pixel icons, since it's a Pixel theme
Edit: Oh yea and one more thing. Unfortunately I can't change the dialer itself, only Contacts. I will be taking those colours though.
Thank you for suggestions!

Are you sure? At that moment I am using the competition 'pixel' theme from samsung theme store and the dialer is themed...
Edit: Don't get my wrong. I do not mean that you have to imitate the exact look like original google dialer. Only use the correct 'background' and 'accent' colors.

#INTRODUCTION:
The original theme bodhisattva_ is celebrating its 3 years now, from Nougat, Oreo and the present PIE android firmware.
The theme simply introduced advanced custom theming for Samsung since they release Samsung Experience UI and Theme Store, by providing more apps supported on a single theme, hundreds of apps on a single apk, 3rd party custom icons on Samsung's default launcher. Since then the theme became a good starting point base for other themers and influenced them a lot, open doors for overlay install method and other things.
Now on this Theme Installer App, A user can do whatever they want to theme bodhisattva_ design principles plus other cool mods and tweaks to make the theme experience more personal.
#FEATURES:
-Complete Theme Color Engine - change background, primary, accent, texts, Qicksettings and Notification colors to anything you like (dark mode base)
-Font files bundle feature - Include your own .ttf font to be included on the theme - No PC/adb needed.
-Tweaks and popular light Mods like navbar height, QS transparency, Rounded keyboard and many more.
-3rd party app theming support like making Instagram and WhatsApp dark? Twitter lights-out and Gapps themes that's made from scratch,
NOT RELYING TO BUILD NUMBER, no installer update required, update 3rd party apps and still use them without waiting for us to update.
-UI Plugins support- you don't like theme bodhisattva icons? simply choose Default Mode preference and you can theme with OneUI elements,
AOSP-Q (full aosp experience for Samsung - all first party apps) and other themers designs like Diliun, Paragus, Broly, ayos_dark Custom UI tagged as HEX UI plugins.
#INITIAL SETUP: FOR REGULAR HC BASE(only one time, unless you delete the theme base)
1. Apply default theme
2. Open Hex application and grant storage permissions, follow on-screen instructions.
3. Customize and Build your theme
4. Reboot and Apply your Hex theme from themestore.
*reboot is only a one time scenario, this is just to fix the statusbar icon colors, on your next theme build, no need to do anything else or apply default theme first, just build, install and apply.
*Please read the FAQ on app for more informations.
#TROUBLESHOOT:
Theme applied but all/some selected third party apps not working or didn't get dark.
-Restart device

-Download and apply High Contrast theme (yellow)
-Apply HEX theme (High Contrast theme II Sky Black)

-Apply default theme and delete High Contrast Theme II
-Download again High Contrast Theme II and APPLY it.
-Open HEX and click Build button it will redirect you to apply Default Theme, apply Default theme.
-Build your HEX theme again, apply and check.
#FUTURE PLANS:
-Add more 3rd party apps to get themed with user color choices. - done but still work in progress to add more.
-Fully Implementation of UI PLUGINS to give limelight for other Custom Themers work. - done, but more ui mode plugins coming soon!
-Add 3rd party Icon pack support for Samsung default home launcher.

Dev priorities for Hex Core
Our Work Info :
Hex Installer is the official alternative to themeGalaxy app.
The idea is to provide Hassle free/Seamless theming solution for Galaxy OneUI devices without compromising any of the customization features. All my work primarily based on "Do It Yourself" concept. I believe everyone can make the theme for themselves if a right tool is provided. And we hope that you will find #Hex as your right tool.
RoadMap and Priorities for our future Updates:
1. Hex UI Plugin support that extends the different UI options.
2. AOSP Q UI plugin for Free
3. Experimental options to include background and dialpad images (WiP)
4. More safe tweaking options
5. Add more third party app overlays. We're going beyond High Contrast theme.
6. Make #Hexified more interactive and interesting place to theme.
7. Providing default day/night ui mode customization.
8. Add Custom QS Toggles
9. Make Hex+ possible on Android 10 - OneUI 2.0
We never intented to obstruct any of the official themers work and themes and that's not the motivation of this community as well. We are trying to provide a custom theming solution to the people who are really willing to spend their time to theme their phone.

Congratulations guys... most excited theme app.
Superb app guys always on top and always made with ❤ thanks a big one guys.?
First of all thank you very much for giving our galaxy phones a life. Theming is the thing I miss from aosp phones.
I just had a little small problem tho, in my GMAIL APP, the status icon are showing dark/black instead of white. I did the steps provided in the FAQ which is, apply default theme > reboot > reapply hex theme.
Also another bug I found is that whenever you switch accounts from gmail. overlay window is not fully initialized. you can only see blank pages until you restarted the app.
Small bugs only . Overall this app is a killer. Many thanks!
** Not sure if I could provide logcat as my phone is not rooted. But let me know.
