eager newb seeking experienced android development veteran to learn from - Samsung Galaxy Core

hey, hopefully im posting this in the right section. im still pretty new to xda as well as the fascinating world of root access, custom recovery's and roms, and such so please let me know if this post is out of place and i apologize ahead of time if it is.
anyways, as for my original reason for posting to the forum, hi everybody ive somewhat recently discovered the possibilities of root access, custom roms and the like. not long ago i was in the market for a new device and came across an offerup post for a galaxy core prime SM-G360T1 (the metro pcs variant) at the price of $35 obo soo, personally never being the biggest samsung supporter i offered $20 n continued looking for another decent LG to hook up to my metro service. long story short they accepted my offer n deals like that shant b ignored so i purchased said core prime n spent the whole night searching through the xda forums to learn all i could.
soo, here i am now the proud owner of my first galaxy device, a rooted SM-G360T1 with a good working touch version of twrp (my preferred choice in custom recoveries) but, as ive come to discover only one very aptly named custom rom exists for this particular galaxy and though i completely respect its creator for all the time & effort he put into releasing the first working pre-rooted, de-bloated custom rom available for the SM-G360T1, i personally decided to stick with the stock rooted firmware and do the de-bloating and such myself.
ok sry about the mindless rambling there i may have gotten a bit carried away. now, as for my point in posting this in the first place. i wouldnt feel right asking others to solve my little issues for me so im not gunna try to pressure anybody into puttin out more roms for the metro core prime. instead, if at all possible i would merely like to meet someone more experienced and well-versed in the art of android development who might b interested in maybe taking me under their wing so that i might get the opportunity to learn the ways of the code and hopefully one day have all the knowledge necessary to develop my own custom roms, or maybe even eventually get myself a couple of apps that i can b proud of onto the play store.
to summarize, i am but a young aspiring software developer will very little knowlege of or experience with code, tho was raised on home built pcs my whole life so i know my way around a desktop pretty well hardware-wise as well as software-wise, im very willing and eager to learn, whilst having already developed through my previous experiences, a healthy fear of bricking yet another phone which has resulted in an increase in the frequency with which i backup my data, as well as a certain acquired hesitation toward attempting any uncertain actions without first doing the appropriate research on the given subject and im hoping to find someone willing to pass some of their vast knowledge down to me whom i can consider to b my teacher, professor, sensai, master, whichever u prefer, and whom i would never hesitate but to thank and give credit for any and all software that i may one day develop as a result of the lessons they had taught me :victory:
aaaanyways, this post turned out a lot longer than i anticipated so, if uve been able to stick it out and make it this far i am both sry for taking up so much of your time, as well as truly grateful to u for having taken said time to hear me out. well, have a wonderful day everybody and i hope to hear from my future sensai soon. until such time i shall b waiting paitiently thnx again for reading

oh and also just wanted to add that if anybody that knows what theyre doing happens to be in the midst of making/porting any new roms for the SM-G360T1 samsung galaxy core prime metro pcs version and needs any help with like testing or wutever let me know, i got a good twrp nandroid backup ready to b restored n just in case of an emergency i still got odin and the rooted kernel that i used to root it in the first place saved onto my pc

Want to root and have questions

Hi everyone,
I am really tired of waiting for SD Card support and USB support on my Xoom, so I have decided to take matters into my own hands. First let me say, I love my XOOM, but I am by nature an inpatient person. My wife would say that of course is NOT my only character flaw. LOL! That said, I purchased my XOOM on launch day and have been waiting and waiting for the 4G upgrade and the SD Card slot to become functional. I have now grown tired of the wait and would like to root in order to get the SD Card functional, USB support, overclocking etc. This is my first Android device, although I have since switched my phone from a Windows Mobile device to a Thunderbolt. I have no experience rooting, but I am comfortable with tech and computers, so now I would like to embark down that road. However, I just did the 3.1 update over the weekend and was reading about a way to flash 3.1 on a rooted device without losing your root. This is what I would like to do, but after posting a similar thread in the Motorola Xoom Forums, the suggestion was made that I post these questions here. There was some debate as to whether it was possible to root my device right now since I already did the 3.1 update and the feeling was that I might have to wait until a rotting solution for 3.1 was available. I am not quite sure if this is the cased, so I was hoping for some direction from the experts here.
Can you guys point me in the direction of a link on the net that will explain rooting and how to do it and let me know if I can root my 3.1 Xoom? YouTube video would be ideal for instruction, but I would like to read up on the basics and the nomenclature so I understand the terms that are thrown around pertaining to rooting. I also would like recommendations of what kernal you all recommend and what other apps I will need, such as, Titanium Backup, Clockwork Recovery, etc. in order to achieve these things.
Thanks a Ton! I am very excited to join the rooting community.
Steve
Hey mate, the "ROOTED" community not rooting first off lol. Moving on tho. Check this link out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89lQpJJ7zBw . Rooting a device is typically pretty simple and easy. The fact that u want to learn is ofcourse greatly appreciated on a site like this as those that just want it handed to them dont tend to get far. If u need additional help feel free to pm me. I dont have a xoom but the vid i linked seems pretty straight forward. I have a MT4G

Development Coming Soon? (AndroidSpin Posted My Article, Skilled Dev Willing to help)

I've been trying my hardest contacting many people to get development started with this phone. Since not many Experienced Devs would be looking the way of this phone i've been trying to reach out.
I Contacted AndroidSpin as well and they are very well known android news site (which i check everyday) and managed to get an article out about helping with development with our phone (awsome, thanks AndroidSpin!) See the Article Here
Hopefully in the Near future we will have a working recovery and ROMs/Mods/Themes Rolling out. A Very experienced Dev has Contacted me Back Saying he is Willing to Help but nothing is promised as he doesnt have a Sidekick 4G at hand. But he is willing to make a working recovery for us so lets see what happens .
He will Definitely need testers.. i will be one ofcourse hope others are interested in seeing development stir up over here aswell !
nice to hear about.....i have been checked this 4rum everyday to looking for a news but still......hopefully something will come out soon....:x im willing to be the tester for this as well.....
I just want to say thank you to all of you working on this. As a former Hiptop user and open-source enthusiast, I took issue with the closed platform that Danger had installed on it and ended up ditching it. When I heard the new Sidekicks would be running Android I jumped at the chance to have one, only to find out that development was lacking interest due to the stigma of the old Hiptops as phones for teenagers. It's wonderful to see more people getting interested in this and I hope to help as much as I can in the future. Thank everyone again and happy hacking to you all!
willing to help
I'm very interested in getting development going for this phone as well, I don't have the time or the skill set to cook roms myself but I am more than willing to test and give feedback. I know a lot of devs aren't interested since they spent last year with the galaxy s line of phones and there are new dual cores to play with, but I think this phone is really unique and could definitely have a big following because of the fact that it is soo different than the sea of slabs out there. I hope development picks up, there are plenty of custom roms out there already built for the galaxy s line that would only need to be tweaked to work with this device so hopefully that picks up soon.
I'm very interested in helping with development, came from the G1 and had fun with that. I was trying to figure out how to compile ClockworkMod but because Samsung uses initRamFS rather than a regular makefile, I was unable to figure it out. I'm very open to testing and trying to help as best I can with developing on this phone, feel free to e-mail me if anyone has any need to test anything, I'm always checking my e-mail. sduvick AT gmail.com. For those who understand the compiling of clockworkmod, I would suggest working from the Vibrant version, as the buttons are all mapped right, we just need to add the storage driver so that the sdcard can be mounted.
I would love to be a tester please keep me posted.
Sent from my SGH-T839 using XDA Premium App
+Thanks.
I'm still stock and would be willing to help some dev's

Interesting how far android has come...

Hello, everyone. I've followed xda for a couple years now, since I got my G1/Dream right after it released. I never really had any questions to ask because everything was laid out well and I know how to use a search feature lol. Now I am a programming student and hoping maybe there will be something I can do to contribute. I guess it's up to me to get my hands dirty so to speak and learn more about these phones than just knowing how to load a custom rom. My hat's off to the devs, you guys have done a great job with making our phones what they could be as opposed to what they were when we bought them.

Future of S4 development

Alright guys so we have been graced with the official KitKat from Sammy depending on what carrier you're on... I'm finally able to get a taste of 4.4.2 on this fantastic piece of hardware...
But that's all this phone has going for it is hardware at this point, and even that's been outdated already in this fast moving tech world.
My AT&T branded S4 (19505) is stuck.. maybe we will get root here for the 4.4.2 build... when that happens know one knows.
But all of us sitting here on XDA are all the same.. we all want to modify our devices and push them to their limits.
I know I would love to get some AOSP love on this phone and experience what the phone can do without all the bloatware bogging it down.. and that awful touchwiz interface.. but we all have the same problem. No one has found a way to get a custom recovery on our phones. While there are a fair number of lucky people who got this phone as it came out and were able to unlock their bootloaders and flash a custom recovery image, I know there are plenty more of us who are not as fortunate as them.
Where do we go?
Who do we turn to?
Samsung? They wont help, in fact, it seems they are hell bent on incorporating more and more obKNOXious security measures as to prevent us from accessing our bootloaders!
Online petitions? So far they haven't done much!
The XDA community here on XDA? Well unfortunately most people truly interested in rooting their phones and pushing them to the limits discarded their S4s long ago for a Nexus or other phone..
So this leaves us with what? Who do we turn to who has both the knowledge base to do something with our phones as well as the desire to put their time into such a project.
I suppose this thread will be deleted.. but I just had to rant I suppose.. I am sitting here without any way to unlock my phone and do what I wish to do with it, and that's due to many factors.. but I'm so tired of opening my browser to our ATT forums and seeing that no one has created a new post, or two people have made comments on posts already existing... is this just s forgotten phone in the sea of tech gadgets out? Are we up a river without a paddle?
Is there no hope for us?
Now I know that this forum is a community and I am 100% behind the notion that if you want something done then you should do it yourself.. but I like most still using this phone don't have the know how to do what needs to be done here. I'm sure there are plenty of people like me who wish that they could help and will do anything in their power to help get something going for this device. What do we do???
/rant /patheticpleaforsomeonetohelpus
No sense.
You can install custom recovery
You can root
You can install custom ROM

Donno... Coz S5 is same as S4.
Future of S4 is bright but don't know about this thread.:cyclops:

I am not sure where this thread is going.

Custom rom info on latin variation xt1543

HELLO!!
Writing for a delicate issue, a year ago I received this device as a gift from family and I've really started to get used to it, but before that I had a us variation Samsung galaxy S3 which I could modify in the craziest ways with root, custom roms and such, I always used this source for everything that peeked my interest but now I've noticed that not much android development (if not at all) is dedicated to the Latin variation of phones, in my case the XT1543 / Build MPI24.107-55-2 Dual sim, maybe I haven't looked good enough or maybe due to lack of understanding I may not have noticed but if any one can help me pointing out any great custom roms that can support this variation and build to kindly let me know, I'd really appreciate it since I don't want to think of throwing away this phone only because of very limited customization.
If anyone can and is willing to help, then God bless you. :good:
Every rom tagged as [OSPREY] should work on your device, unless stated otherwise.

I'm using this device, and as monterrey4ever says every ROM/kernel/etc that says OSPREY should work. For some reason there's no official TWRP, but a simple web search leads to https://forum.xda-developers.com/2015-moto-g/orig-development/twrp-twrp-moto-g-2015-t3170537
