Off Topic Thread - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Guides, News, & Di

Got something you want to say, but it doesn't really fit the thread you're about to post in?
Put it here.
That way the other threads stay clear, open, and it's easier to find actual information.

[Q] [Request] Forum App

I don't know where the right place to post this would be, but I am a member of a forum that has upwards of 3k+ people online at any given time. As far as i know of, there is not an App for it, just a mobile site that is VERY limited.
I was wondering if it's a pretty big deal to create an App like the XDA App for another forum? It would be amazing and make life a whole lot easier for lots of people.
I am sure there is more work than I would assume, but just throwing it out to ask.
The site is ar15.com. Check it out, click on General tab and scroll to the bottom to see how many people are on ATM.
Thanks
Xda app is just the basic crippled version of tapatalk. Get it and if your forum isn't already in their database just email them to add it.

The SG4G Wiki

As FBis said, it's a good idea to place some guides and more info on the wiki so we can link people there to help answer repetitive questions. It's also just generally a good idea to use something we can all edit and add to in real time.
With more contributions, we can have the wiki actually become a great source for beginners to read.
A link to the wiki.

Here's his thread

Thanks, didn't see that thread as i don't check the General subforum that often. Did not mean to create a second thread if one recently existed.
Ironically, it got buried under repetitive threads and questions, lol.

sorry i did not realise it was closed, was looking at it lastweek. I was waiting for BTU.. decided to flash the latest polish release a few days ago instead, it seems very stable and i like the pen window improvements.

ffs i see the thread title and think its been released. They closed the other thread why do we need this one as well. Why not just start a thread when the thing is actually released.
And how will you know? That's why this thread is here!
We need to know if it's kies or ota, and also we need to know which regions have it

My goodness. The other thread was closed by a mod because it was a complete waste of time after 1 month and because placeholders are not really allowed anyway.
Do you not think it's a bit foolish to open another one straight away... and again with a misleading thread title. There is no "England UK KitKat".
Your argument about how people will know when it is released is completely baseless. People will know because when it actually is released a thread can be made by anyone who first realises entitled "BTU KitKat 4.4.2 released OTA/Kies". In fact I can guess that when the release does occur that will happen anyway because the second any firmware is available there tends to be a slew of identical threads made to inform us 8 or 9 times that it has indeed been released.
Your stupid threads are in fact just getting in the way of real news and just clogging up the forum. Please close, delete and wait patiently like the rest of us. You are testing everyone's patience by changing titles misleadingly and now creating new threads. When you have something worthwhile let us know.

And I was the guy who reported your last thread, and the guy who will report this one. A waste of space, a placeholder and of no use to anyone.
I don't see how this is a waste of space. There are no other threads dedicated to the UK . I should have some more info to add soon as well. Otherwise you're reading about Poland and the US etc...
Personally I like having a thread for my country , how else would we be easily able to find info. The advanced searching isn't always the answer either.

I agree. But you're missing the point - i.e. there is no "official UK" KK to discuss. The other threads - India, Malaysia etc - have something to discuss. Until then, I maintain that this thread is a waste of space. No news and nothing to gain from it.
Great thread title too. Can we expect "official" threads for the Welsh, Scottish and Ulsterians too?! Or have Samsung become even more region specific?

All that needs changing is the thread title and broaden the description of why it's around. The UK is a region for Samsung hence the BTU and why having a dedicated thread is helpful.
I do agree calling it England was not the best idea. I sent a pm to the thread creator asking him to modify the title and context to something more appropriate.
Thread closed as its a placeholder thread. Placeholder threads are not allowed, do not create another one.

Will towelroot work after latest update?

Presuming of course the update removes root.

I answered the original question. It shouldn't be used and the reason why is mentioned in the towelroot guide by the thread OP so do yourself a favour and read it instead of acting like no one answered your question.
...and if it suits you fine, just bloody use it and answer your own questions instead of creating pointless threads.

The question was 'Will towelroot work after latest update?'
Your answer was 'There are issues with towelroot anyway. Root properly. '
And you really dont see why I have a problem with your answer. Not matter how many times you try and post it ,you have not answered the question (Vin4Yak did make a reasonable attempt to answer in that 'it should work'. I can accept that)
Then to take this futher I'm yet to see why Towelroot 'has issues' or 'no longer works properly'. I've headed over to the 3700 post thread about it, and still I'm yet to see anything telling everybody to stay away.
I'm aware my bootloader is still locked and potentially with root I could screw my phone (and due to no unlocked bootloader could be in big trouble), but I'm quite happy being in that position.
If you fancy posting some usefull info rather than direct people elsewhere with vague answers then feel free , otherwise thankyou for your post but it hasnt helped so you might as well not have bothered.

Since L has not been released the correct answer to your question is, maybe. Does that make sense?

Towelroot doesn't work before the update. It wont work after the update. The guide in General (where all our guides are) that is not 3700 posts long explains why,
Or just try it yourself. The update is 100% irrelevant. It has not patched the exploit, but it is not the exploit that is the problem. Its SuperSU that is the problem, again - which is all explained in the guide, over in general
Right got the thread now. I've posted in there. Thanks

What is with forum culture that makes people against linking to other threads they are discussing.
Just post a ******* link to the thread so every other user that see's your post can easily find what you are talking about rather than searching high and low through the whole forum - i.e. 'over in general', do you mean Nexus 5 General, or XDA General? It's really not hard to just post a LINK. Once I found the 'guide in General' I could find no other info on towelroot - http://puu.sh/aHF5u/524526b849.png
Sorry to be rude, it just really grinds my gears - it's not hard to link something if you know where it is and saves everyone else loads of time.

Fair point.
However, it is widely accepted here that the search function of this site is mediocre at best. Just do everyone a favour and post a link rather than taking the moral high ground.

I may know where to find something but it takes me time to find the thread and copy the link. Why should I take my time to do that? I'm not the one who needs it. If the poster can't take his/her time to do that so be it.

We usually take a "give a man a fish, he can feed himself for a day. Give a man the means to fish and he can feed himself for a lifetime" approach.
I purposely do NOT give links for things that are sticky threads. If there is a sticky thread in General, "over in General" is a sufficient description to find the information required. If I give every idiot who asks a question a single link, he will not notice all the other glorious sticky threads that we here in this forum put much effort into answering as many questions as we possibly can without devoting our entire existance to repeating the same answers over and over... and over.
We take pride in our stick threads and once someone sees them, a wealth of knowledge unfolds. Knowledge we willingly pass on. If we simply give everyone a link, all we will be doing is linking the same person to different things all the time. We're being helpful without being detrimental to ourselves.

No, as I said I refuse to post links to obvious threads that sit where all the other obvious and important threads sit. Don't get all aggressive here.

Search is easy to use. Posting a link is as easy as going to general and typing "towelroot" into search. You're ressurecting an old thread. Towelroot is not a favoured solution, so it is no longer stickied.

If you're sorry to be rude, why are you being rude at all. Sorry is taking back something you didn't mean, yet edit does the same thing so you're not sorry at all. You have an attitude and you want to show it. Fine!

I don't accept that. I find everything I want in search, if I know the search term to use. Even in Tapatalk. Failing that, google can serch XDA very well too. This is just an excuse. The bigger picture is that the true favour is not posting a link. Heroin addict is in pain, needs a hit. Posting link is buying him the hit. Not posting the link, or better yet, sending him to rehab is the better favour.
You admit there is a high ground then?
For all those who say the search is mediocre - I find it perfectly fine and easy to use, 9/10 times I'll find what I'm looking for if I know it exists. Maybe you're just doing it wrong.

xda loosing popularity?

Hello,
I noticed recently that in most phones forums where in the past was pretty crowded, right now we have very small communities. I measure this by seeying 50 thanks, instead of 300-400 as before.
What is your opinion?
Thanks
Maybe everyone goes to social media
I thinks is becoming to decadence
