[ROM] [DEV ABOOT] [UNOFFICIAL] VanirAOSP m6 [KLTEVZW] [Weekly-ish] - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Android Development

-- Begin copy-pasta template from one of my other unofficial build threads... please let me know if I miss updating something --
Note: I don't run this ROM personally, I really just built it. It shouldn't, but it may eat your cat.
Code:
*** Disclamer
-- You install these at your own risk! You are responsible for anything that happens from flashing these files to YOUR phone! If your
phone melts into a pile of goo, catches on fire etc. IT IS NOT MY RESPONSIBILTY BUT YOURS!
FAQ:
Q: Can I use this?
A: Do you have a developer aboot? If so then yes, but I won't help you install a developer aboot. I only ever had a Developer phone, so I only know the process as well as reading the thread. See this thread for info/help: HERE
Q: When/how often are these built?
A: Less often than my CM13.0 build, but at least every week. Unlike my CM13.0 build, I don't use this ROM so I won't be doing a "does it boot" check before uploading. Please tell the entire thread if one day's build doesn't work properly.
Q: Why did you do this ROM next instead of ______?
A: #1, it was easy. Vanir doesn't require me to make a new branch to change file names and text lines in the makefiles from "cm" to XXXX. #2, Vanir holds a special place to me for having device trees that worked for our S5 at least through Lollipop -- they allowed me to make my own CM builds. #3, I used it back in the day and they seemed pretty tight.
Q: Can I get help with something?
A: I have a full-time job and travel a lot. I'll try to jump in and answer some questions, but there is a lot of info out there for you to learn on your own. Aside from you having a vzw-variant, most of the details are standard KLTE.

Recovery:
The standard KLTE TWRP 3.1.0-0 should mostly work, but MTP doesn't work for any klte* variant using it.
I prefer KToonsez's 2.8.6-based Recovery. It's older, but MTP works.
There are Unofficial 3.*.0-* recoveries available by @jcadduono. I find that these don't support decryption properly, which I find to be mandatory.
Like many other devices, the .zip files can be flashed in a recovery. The .tar.md5 files can be flashed in ODIN. The .img files can be flashed using Flashify, a TWRP recovery. You can even get an .img file from a .zip or .tar.md5 if you just open it up.
If you use adopted storage then things get odd. The latest recovery by @jcadduono MAY support adopted storage if you don't encrypt userdata (I personally know that TWRP handles adopted storage for jflte and d2), but I do use encryption so I don't use that recovery. It may be that you only see /data/media/0 -- if so, I find that using Flashify for each nightly is the most straightforward way to update, but you could always manually copy to /data/media/0 before rebooting to recovery. This is a standard Marshmallow and TWRP thing.

Modem/Firmware:
Most of the LP modem/firmwares should work, but I use the one PB1 here. This modem matches with the proprietary vendor files that are part of the build. Flash it in ODIN. Please note that some have reported that you cannot flash these after the aboot unlock; If you cannot flash the PB1 modem/non-hlos it shouldn't cause any big problems.

GApps:
Various Vanir threads recommend SlimGapps, OpenGapps, or a Gapps packaged by DHO (the Vanir main developer). If you use OpenGapps, make sure to use an 6.0 version for ARM architecture. Like with all Gapps selections, they're all pretty much the same with the differences being which apps are packaged and what versions are packaged.
OpenGapps
SlimGapps
DHO's Gapps. These are a little bit older.

[ROM][Nightly][ICS] Team Eos Transformer Nightlies (tf101)

Team EOSICS 4.0.4 TF101NIGHTLIES
Welcome to the evolution of TiamatXOOM.
With the AOSP release of Android 4.0 begins the next dawn of the Android operating system. And with this release comes Team EOS, the natural evolution of the TiamatXOOM development team.
It is the goal of Team EOS to develop and maintain the highest performing and most stable AOSP based rom for an array of platforms. The launching point for this development effort is the Motorola XOOM.
For the latest news on Team EOS Xoom releases make sure you follow @teameos on twitter and on IRC on Freenode in #xoom.
--
NOTE: Team EOS, it’s members, friends, dogs, cats, and associates are in no way responsible for any loss of data or device functionality. Use this at your own risk!
--
A quick note on Nightlies: NIGHTLIES ARE DEVELOPMENT BUILDS. They are automatically generated once every 24 hours and represent the compilation of the latest commits to the code repository. While every effort is made ensure that the commits that are accepted are stable and do not have a negative impact to the overall performance and function of the builds it is not possible to test every aspect of a commits impact to the overall repo prior to it’s inclusion in a given build. As a result it is entirely possible that instabilities may be introduced as a result of a given days commits. That is the nature of the nightly system, and the risk that is taken using the latest code changes to the project.
EOS is an AOSP based rom. It is developed and maintained by Team EOS and is the culmination of our own in house development efforts.
Team EOS TF101 Nightly builds: http://goo-inside.me/devs/teameos/roms/nightlies/tf101/
G-Apps Package
Because this is an AOSP based rom Google Apps are not included in the base rom. To install Google Apps please flash the following package after installing the base rom:
Use the latest available gapps package available from http://goo.im/gapps
*Note - You will need to re-flash G-Apps after you flash an updated nightly build. You can do this before you reboot after the installation of a new nightly.
Also note that if you are coming from an earlier G-Apps package you will need to wipe prior to installation of this package in order to avoid FC issues.
--
Features:
Because these are nightly builds the included features are constantly evolving. Change logs are generally generated on a daily basis.
Change logs can be viewed at http://nightlies.teameos.org/changelogs/
For the most up to date and comprehensive listing of the changes included in this rom please visit http://review.teameos.org
--
Installation Notes:
These builds are designed to be installed from your favorite recovery
Perform a full wipe (read Factory Reset) prior to installing this over ANY Honeycomb based rom (this includes all Tiamat roms)
BUGS!
If you find strange or otherwise unexplained errors please report them here: https://bugs.teameos.org/ Please include logcats and as thorough a description of the issue and what lead up to the issue as possible. With out this we will be unable to track down these errors.

Yes it's part of G-Apps.
I know this is a brand new nightly build, but I'm not able to enable wifi. It just sits there saying it's turning it on. I did a full wipe before flashing the nightly build and the latest GAPPS, got nothing for the Wifi...
Nevermind, after a reboot the back icon changed to that it should be.
Roach, when do you think full support for the dock will be baked in? Not looking for an ETA really, just where it is on your to-do list.

You can be the first to log bugzilla ticket for me - https://bugs.teameos.org/
If you can post some logcat output of when you try to turn on wifi in the ticket it will help a great deal.
I do already know about the down/back arrow. It seems to fix itself when you launch a new application.
Hell yea let's get this thing started.. ive ran both of yalls work before... excited to see where this goes...

Easy enough. Now as far as timing, do I try to turn on wifi first, let it sit for a while, then do the logcat?
I'm on the standard build myself. But I have the cornerstone one available too. Might give that a try after, or just try wiping and reinstalling after I get the logcat.

[ROM][D850] CyanogenMod 12.1 OFFICIAL Nightly [Android 5.X Lollipop]

CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 5.0, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
Code:

Your warranty is now void!
I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed.
Please do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM before flashing it!
YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
Submitting bug reports on nightly builds is the leading cause of male impotence.
CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

Bugs:
Only report bugs for OFFICIAL RELEASE.
For proper technique on reporting bugs:
Read THIS and THIS.
When reporting a bug be as specific as possible.
Make sure you can replicate the bug when coming from a clean install with no other apps installed besides what comes with ROM and GApps.
If you narrowed down a specific app that crashes only on CM ROM then please include app version and all info about app too.
Do not have any modifications done to the Android system besides.
It is very important to read on the proper technique to report a bug. Helps keep thread clean and makes tracking issues easier.
If your D850 is not on AT&T then use this TWRP flashable patch to update the APN files.
Thank you!
I want to thank you for all the hard work you put for our device. Much appreciated

I don't care what everyone talks about in this thread, just try to keep it on somewhat topic. The thing that irks me the most is buggy bug reports. Do not need to hear this is broke fix it, PLEASE, I can not stress it enough...PLEASE provide as much detail as you can when reporting bugs. The more detail your reports are the better a chance we will look at it and fix it.
Thanks!
PS. This is how I am feeling about now oh and especially with the incall audio bug which seems like the mother of all bugs
@AndroidUser00110001 am i right to say that on initial install, one should wipe/format system as well?
To the Devs,
I must say, this ROM is excellent. Three weeks ago I purchased my new LGG3 LG-VS985 after using a MotoX for a year. I have been a faithful CyanogenMod user for a couple years. This new CM12 Lollipop ROM is simply the best ever, on the best phone available.
Excellent Job!.... To all the Devs!!!

I didn't have time to clean flash, so I dirty flashed over the last Unofficial before the switch, being sure to wipe System/Cache/Dalvik, and I haven't had any massive issues other than the commits from the EXPERIMENTAL thread/build not being included yet (check that thread for AU's list).

Google Sync
Anyone experience Google not syncing after installing the latest from Cyanogen's site? What I get is "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly."
Wiped everything on install like I always do. Tried again and same thing. Tried different gapps just in case. I finally went back to stock ver. and everything is fine.
I've tried it so many times I'll wait to hear from someone else before flashing it again. lol

CM12.1
CM12.1 is finally here with us...
Cant Wait ...
Happy Flashing...
First build is now on the mirrors. Expect everything to be broken, be thankful for anything that works. OTA updater app is not included as backend needs some work to support multiple versions thus I'll probably kick myself to finally finish the rewrite of the backend code. There's no schedule for these nightlies yet as I haven't really had time to think how I'll juggle 3 different versions so they don't start compiling at the same time. New builds will come as DOGE builds did for the previous version meaning whenever I feel like making one until things settle down a bit and build schedule is decided.
Bugzilla has 12.1 specific product now so you can use that for bug reports.
Thank you so much for your TITANIC labor!

After flashing Gapps, the message persists and I can not install anything (neither from the playstore or from an apk)
On the other hand, everything seems to work (wifi,sound,camera,...)

On the other hand, everything seems to work (wifi,sound,camera,...)

Same here on an Inspire 4G. Very slow install, even considering ART. Reboots take about 5 minutes.

I think the problem is with my Inspire 4g and not the ROM. While trying Advanced wipe, I get:
E:Block device not present, cannot wipe SD-ext.
E:Unable to wipe /sd-ext.
I've made a pigs ear of the install somewhere along the line. Yawn.

Full wipe every flash, don't update. This is an early beta release and there are likely to be big changes which might break things under the hood.
I think a lot of users are starting to get confused between the CM12 and CM12.1 releases.
Hello
indeed I am confused too. Is the 12 nightlies project abandoned/replaced by 12.1 ?
I am using a CyanogenMod 12 Nightlies rom . Anyone can explain me what's better in CyanogenMod 12.1 Nightlies ?
As I can see the Kernel is the same , what's new in 12.1 compared with 12 ? Any valid reason to move from 12 to 12.1 ?
Thank you!
aand ...BTW THANKS for the continuos work to leave alive HTC Desire HD !!!

sd-ext is not present unless you've partitioned sdcard, so don't worry if you get only that error message

Well, probably not abandoned but focus will shift to 12.1. I haven't made any decisions yet but it's likely 12 will move to weekly schedule or something similar.

What's better? At the moment probably nothing as things are just starting to come together and many things are still shoddy at best. There are not even official nightlies out yet.
You can check the full 5.0.2 -> 5.1.0 changelog here. There are some 14 000 changes.

Thanks. I thought I'd finally bricked my phone after all these years of flashing.

Nice man ... Will be giving this a shot. Do you have a bug tracker set up or do you want logs and reports posted here?
Yummy. Also trying this out for sure.

Feel free to post logs / bugs here. Mainly have time to build after work on weekdays. On the weekends is when I can actually work on fixing things.
For device specific things just post the bugs / logs here. For CM specific bugs I would use JIRA and post a link to the bug here. (More helpful/useful to the CM team to make an actual JIRA bug report.)
3 WORDS: STABLE AS ****!
thanks for the rom, this will forsure be my daily driver. only little problem is the no service icon (xt1031) but data is working. soft reboot fixes it though!
Can anyone please comment on the speed of this ROM since it is Linaro based? The other 5.1 ROMs on my phone are pretty responsive, but if even more speed can be gained with our limited hardware, that will be great.
@CodyF86,
Having a problem with the download link. Rom starts downloading but does not download the whole 251mb. Only partial download. Tried about ten times but still same result. Tried with a different browser but same result.
Edit: Nevermind. Downloaded the rom from my phone and copied it from download folder on phone to internal storage.
Hello there @CodyF86 ! Thanks for you work! One little request. Do you think you will be able to add a mirror or upload your work to another claudbased storage? Like MEGA or Mediafire or AndroidFileHost or whichever you want. This one you are using is insanely unstable for me. It gets interrupted every 5 minutes. I'll be really glad if you could change it or add other(s).
Cheers.
I'll upload to Google drive starting tonight also. Driving home from work, will do another one.

Thank you very much! And sorry for bothering you with this. I really want to test your ROM since al Linaro builds seem gone from this forum. Thanks again. Drive safe
Cheers.
New build posted. Main link is to Google drive now.
Some more ARM assembly fun if you look under the kernel source commits.
Will fix the signal indicator so you don't have to do a soft reboot for it to work this weekend. Need to go through the soak test build.prop and compare a few other things...just need time this weekend.

thanks for both: new link and new build Can I dirty flash it over the build before? Just installed the first release lol
Cheers.
I've been dirty flashing; should be good to go.
Update: yes, this ROM is very fast indeed! Thanks for sharing.
This ROM is very fast! Especially for a CM ROM (which in my experience have gotten horribly slow over the last few versions) I haven't experienced nearly as many redraws, stutters, freezes or any other general unpleasantness. Good job @CodyF86

CWM 6.0.5.1 I think 6.0.4.7 is the last one posted on CMs website, I'll post the latest one in the OP tonight, but they're basically the same. Nothing needs to be changed from stock.

Theoretically they all should work, but I need someone to the GSM version to try it out.

Weird, I haven't noticed that, but tbh I haven't actually payed attention to what year my phone shows / I don't even have it set up to show me I'll have to look and see if mine does it also.
Will do another one tonight / it's the weekend can play around with it get some things done now.

I do not own bullhead (only angler) so I don't know. If anyone would be so kind as to testing different GApps packages and letting me know which one works that would be greatly appreciated.

What works well for me are the Slim Gapps
Add the Issue Tracker link in the OP. There you can view current and resolved issues. Also I can confirm that there is a GApps issue...It should be fixed in today's/tomorrow's update.
Here is the feature list for the first SiriusAOSP release. View it here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1hNao-Hfz_DKL2iR2m95vD-bSsE5cyIrGEveYB8dhp7o/edit?usp=sharing
New build up. ROM still not daily driver material but GApps now work. All I am going to say is you might want to check the Issue Tracker.
Another new build. This build was mostly a bug fix one. Check changelog for details. No major issues.
added to index
[INDEX] LG NEXUS 5X Resources Compilation Roll-Up
New build up. Finally everything works. GAPPS WORK thanks to @joshndroid ... Also a few features added. MANY BUGS FIXED! Check changelog and enjoy
EDIT: You may get a few Google Play Services FCs at first boot on a clean install (Due to ungranted permissions). Just press "Ok" on each of the popups and continue and u will be fine.

edit..
I don't understand. Is there anything to report in this ROM? Nothing since November. I just got my 5x so I'll try this ROM out. And report good and bads.
Edit: so I'm not misunderstood. I don't mean we need something from devs, that's not what Im saying. What I'm wondering is if anyone who has tried and ran this ROM had anything else to say on it. Yes, I see its still 6.0 but ehh I'm just curious.

This ROM ran good when I ran it. I think dev added in some placeholders for some future features, but then he disappeared, then other, more updated ROMs started to come out.

Yeah doing my searching and looking around, I kinda noticed that. I may or may not give it a try since others are updated now. I just loaded xtrafactory xtreme so I'll give that a shot for a while see if this ever updates. Thanks man.
