Recover internal storage data (HTC One a9) - General Questions and Answers

Hello everyone, this is my first post here so I'll try to explain my problem correctly.
I had an issue moving data from internal storage to SD, I tried moving it using the mobile app and not saving a backup with the computer... so it seems that I've lost all that data.
I just wanted to recover my pictures and I've read and tryid many guides.
First of all I started rooting my device, with it rooted I installed some apps like "undeleter" but they didnt work.
Other times I have used a software called Recuva for these purposes but I can not select de Internal Storage device... it seems that I need to put my device in MSC mode but I have tried all the USB options and any of them worked (yes, I used usb debbuging).
¿Could you show me how to be sure that I work with MSC mode on my HTC One a9?
Which guide do you recommend me to follow in order to try recovering my files?
Any free/open-source platform that I could use?

[Q] Still no access to internal phone via usb

Hi all,
To start with, I'm in India and tried to unlock my Verizon S3.. at first, got it rooted, tried to unlock, didn't work and it caused a bunch of connection problems, etc. with the phone, so I did a factory reset, thinking it would wipe the problems I was having.
Lost some files I forgot were on my internal memory I needed, so I wanted to do a file recovery. During this process, I re-downloaded the drivers for the S3 I needed and then found that my phone would connect, but wouldn't connect as a driver and only as a media source. So the recovery software can't find the device to inspect. Even when I debugged, it would only register as a bootloader and wouldn't recognize it as anything more.
I'm trying to figure out what other steps I need to take to either remove something that I tampered with before the factory reset, or if I need to install something new to configure my device to register as a driver, or do something else I can't figure out?
And I'm still trying to recover those files from before the factory reset too.
Anyone have any suggestions? I can explain in more detail if needed.
Thanks for all the help!
Are you trying to recover personal files that were wiped?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Trying to get my computer to register the phone as a driver so then I will be able to recover the files.

You may be out of luck. When google went to Android 4.x, they switched to the MTP protocol which mounts the phone to the computer as a media device, rather than a mass storage device (as in previous versions of Android). As far as I can tell, devs have only been able to figure out how to get the external SD card to be seen as mass storage (and that's built into a rom, not a stand alone mod, I believe).
Is there any file recovery software/app available for Android that you can install directly on the phone, rather than needing to run it from a computer?
Well, that's not a good sign. But I will check into the direct software to the phone and let you know I find anything.
Thanks for the tip!

[Completed] [Q] Recover wiped /storage/emulated/0

I had connected my OnePlus One to the PC and was cleaning the Internal SD when I noticed this
/storage/emulated/0 folder.
It had just 1 file in it and I didn't know what it was and accidentally deleted it.
Now every media file and other documents which were stored on my phone got completely wiped. I cannot even recover it since the phone has only MTP or PTP mode and I don't know how to recover it from these modes as standard recovery softwares dont recognise it...
Is there any way I can get back my files and images as they were really important since they were pictures of my late friend! :/
Thanks
You have just wiped your Internal SDCard Partition. There is extremely remote and painful possibility of recovering it. You are better off flashing Stock Firmware to the Phone.

[Q] Recover data after factory reset (Moto G 4G)

I had to do a factory reset on my Moto G 4G as it was not working properly. I backed up everything using Helium and all the contacts to storage. I didn't realise that I was actually backing up to internal storage rather than an SD card (not present). After a factory reset, I lost all the backups. I assumed Helium would have backed everything up to the computer it was connected to?
Is there a way to recover what was on the internal storage prior to the factory reset? The phone doesn't appear as separate mass storage drive when connected to the computer. It is just listed as the phone name under My Computer so I cannot seem to run any standard file recovery tools such as Testdisk.
Help!?
No hope?
I'm guessing since no one has replied that there is no hope in recovering the original data?

Hey
U know recovery applications that I used can scan memory that can mount ... (I can't remember exact name)like using Samy or Sony.they shows the drives as a software not a mountable memory.like u put SD card on a memory reader n use that.it can be support by rec app but that one no I think
Try rec app in ur system or find a hack that can mount internal men then go on
Hope this will help you
Might see if this thread will help mounting the storage in ADB http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2843152

[Q] Samsung duos i8262

Hi All,
I've i8262 without an external SD card & lots of images & videos were there on the phones internal memory.
For some reason (a kid accendentally) factory reset the phone & all this data is lost.
I've tried to use some of the recovery tools like Recuva, Android data recovery, Remo recover, Wonder share etc & all of this did not recognise the Internal memory connected in MTP (Portable media player). Only other option is connect as Camera. There is no way to connect as a USB (for a drive letter to get assigined), that above softwares could detect & recover.
I thought rooting the phone, I could get a drive letter but the 50+ webpages I've checked told to install only one software Framaroot (latest 1.9.3) which has got a Trojan virus. Theres no other tool to root it I've seen.
So, Is there a way I can recover all the lost data after factory reset & how can I root it first(any other software)?
Android version: 4.1.2
New to this group, so posted the question in general. Please move it to the appropriate one, if this isnt appropriate.
Thanks in advance..

storage issue on Android phone (cant mount, is my data gone?)

Hi everyone,
Since this is purely a question about the storage of my phone I thought it wouldn't really be necessary to post this on the HTC One S boards (since it's also an old phone and those boards might be a little dead) If this belongs somewhere else I apologize and I hope a mod can move it to the right boards.
So I have a HTC One S, I use CM11 on it with TWRP 2.8.5.0 and HBOOT 2.15, not sure if that's relevant information.
The HTC One S does not have any slot for a SD card, it has 16gb of internal storage.
Here's what happened: I wanted to go into my recovery but instead accidentally hit the FACTORY RESET that's right below it in the bootloader.
It did not ask for any confirmation and immediately showed me the HTC logo which means my phone is rebooting, this is where I (probably) made the mistake to hold the power button down to try and stop the factory reset of my phone.
I realize it was risky to hit the power button in the middle of a factory reset but let's just say I slightly panicked.
So my phone boots up and everything seemed to still be the same. Nothing was reset.
But a little later I notice the internal storage is unmounted. At least I think it is, see pictures:

When in TWRP -> Mount I am unable to mount "Internal storage", it simply doesn't allow me to check it in the list.
As I try to run the TWRP backup, it shows it is unable to mount the internal storage:

I have found some instructions of how to get the storage to mount, but it involves wiping the internal storage and I wanted to try and recover my date before wiping it completely.
I've tried several recovery software but none of them even detect the disk, and Windows only goes as far as seeing a non responding "Removable Disk":

Furthermore when I try to connect it as a USB mass storage device it simply attempts but after a few minutes goes back to the "Turn on USB storage" button.

I understand it's very likely that I will have to wipe the disk to be able to use it again, but I want to be completely sure there isn't a way to recover my data first.
Thanks for reading and any help you can offer.
well ,if you are rooted you can try to recover your stuff ,with an apk called disk digger from google playstore,, but it costs money... however you can find it for free on google ... just search disk digger apk free full download...hope i helped
Thanks for the reply, apparently I cant install some app either without an internal memory including the one you mentioned.
I think my next step is going to have to be wiping everything :/ hoping my internal memory will even work after that.
