Hi,
I assume you have a TWRP recovery installed?
I used the SuperSu (Systemless) (attached) and it has worked fine.

Ruu mode flashable twrp zip in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=65708167
Then flash supersu. I would use the adb command to unlock that boot loader asap.

Post-OTA woes

Hi,
I recently updated to 4.4.4 and I want to get TWRP and the Xposed Framework back. I'm not rooted and my bootloader is locked, but I do have s-off. When I try to flash TWRP, I get an error message (attachment below). Also, since the Xposed Framework requires root access, I can't use it since I can't use WeakSauce anymore and I'm not ready to dive into Sunshine. I was thinking about flashing the 4.4.4 rooted ROM that's available. Would this at least get me root access?
Thanks,
PC49

Not sure why you relocked, but since you have s off you can flash twrp recovery via a fastboot zip file. There are a few threads on XDA, but basically you need to put twrp in a zip alongside an android-info.txt file.

Were you running Windows as admin when you tried this?

You need to flash recovery in ruu mode as a zip just like beaups stated. But you can unlock your boot loader via HTCdev if your s-off. Just supercid your phone an then htcdev will unlock your boot loader. But you don't need a unlocked bootloader tho just exposing your choices...I know this works cause my last 2 phones I used java card for s-off an unlocked via htcdev myself.

Root is already installed. Now how can i install recovery?

You first need root. Rooting is only possible with old firmware. With root you can install recovery. Then you can install rom.

So just to clarify, I have a 6045I factory global unlocked from Amazon, It has never been rooted, bootloader unlocked, nothing. So would I place on SD and apply update through stock recovery, or is there a different method? Really just want root for adaway and xposed. TWRP would be nice, but not necessary. Just don't want a new paperweight. Thanks!
Can i install twrp to flash thid or stock is fine?
You can try windroid toolkit v3.1.
First u have to unlock bootloader then to flash recovery and supersu .
For me it is not recognising my phone hope u will get success.
If try then pls share ur experience.

For me it got downloaded but showing device either offline or unauthorized
I'd run a full virus /malware scan.... I use 360 Security on mobile devices and PC's. It, along with SUPERAntiSpyware has served me well.

Just install the TWRP 3.0 in android development (it has instructions in the thread) and then you can flash the supersu mentioned.

Well the obvious choices are:
1) Use mobile Q to restore to 5.0.2...unlock bootloader, install twrp....upgrade to marshmallow using the modified update.zip that doesn't wipe recovery and finally root using the file mentioned.
or
2) Live with it as it is until someone figures out how to restore fastboot which will probably still require downgrading.

That's the problem. This phone is totally stock with nothing done but the update. I literally charged it, turned it on and 20 minutes later 6.0.1 was nagging for install, which I did. There is now the OEM unlock switch in developing options, but I don't know where to start, or flash.

You must go back to 5.0 to install and then update it because in 6.0.1 update Removes Fastboot commands so you can't install it twrp....
I have a problem with rooting 6039Y on rom 6.0.1 by persona78. Stock rom 5.0.2 and root working fine. When i flash via TWRP after the update to MM i get this message:
-Cheking patch status
---Already patched, attempting to find stock backup
---Stock restore failed, attempting ramdisk restore
---Ramdisk restore failed, aborting
This solution - echo SYSTEMLESS=true >> /data/.supersu - not working.
Phone was simlock removed via furiousgold, maybe this is a problem?

Still no solution to rooting stock MM 6045I?
Hope this helps someone
I know this thread is dead, but replying so people can find the information easier.
I used this guide to flash twrp then used twrp to root on stock 6045O 6.0.1.

Freshly rooted 60450...does my bootloader need to be unlocked

Currently on stock MM, rooted with Sahara and fire hose and installed twrp. Does the bootloader need to be unlocked before I go flashing roms? From what I am reading, I should be able to flash normally through TWRP, but I've been wrong before!!
I didn't think you could flash twrp unless the bootloader was unlocked.

I just followed the instructions to push twrp through Sahara and then used it to install superuser. I never unlocked bootloader... That's why I was hesitant to start flashing
Edit: I have installed xposed and the modules I've used are all working

Bootloop after Root

I used Wugfresh's Bacon Root Toolkit to root my phone. I unlocked my bootloader and rooted my phone correctly and even got a confirmation by the toolkit saying that my phone was successfully rooted. However, my phone has been stuck on the CYANOGEN MOD READY for the last 30 minutes. How do I fix this?!

You should never use toolkits for rooting!
Now you need to flash TWRP recovery and flash any stock/custom rom as you like.
Flashing recovery wouldn't be much of a issue as your bootloader is already unlocked.

I tried using fastboot to install TWRP and I used TWRP to flash SuperSU. After rebooting, I had the same problem.
My phone is running CyanogenOS 13.1

Fek all that;
Just use kingoroot or kingroot(google it).
Make sure you've a fast connection.
And if you want to change from kinguser to supersu, use this guide..

Ok so I flashed back to CyanogenOS 11 and installed root and it worked. Then I went into TWRP and installed the CyanogenOS 13 zip. My device booted but my root access was gone. How do I update from COS 11 to COS 13 and still retain root? Also, TWRP asked to install SuperSU to root. I clicked no since my device was already rooted. Should I try again and click yes?

No,the root will not survive a clean flash.
Why don't you root cos13.1.x with twrp?

First of all, I did a dirty flash. Second if I SuperSU zip from TWRP while running COS13.1.2, my device gets stuck in a bootloop.

I'm not talking about SuperSu.zip,Twrp has inbuilt root script, use that.
