What are the best type C data cables for the G5? - LG G5 Accessories

I have heard that some Type C data cables should not be used as they can damage the device. What brands of cables are good as I can not find an LG cable? Is Anker still a good brand for type C? I am looking for one with type C at one end and type A at the other.
Also, will using my existing Anker car charger be fine with my G5?

don't have any specific cables to recommend, but can read here and see if you can find some.

Go to Amazon and look for "iOrange-E Type C". The iOrange ones are really very good. But if you don't like them for some reason go to the Reviews section of the page and the first review you will see is from a guy named "Benson Leung". Click his name and you will see all of his reviews. Benson works for Google and has been running his own tests on cables and rates them based on power complaint standards (the ones that won't mess up your stuff). He rates the ones that pass as 5 stars. He isn't rating if he likes them or not, he is basing his reviews solely on if they are complaint with the standards for type-c. One cable he tested even burned out his computer it was so bad.
Here is some stuff to know too. A type-c to type-c will be O.K. to use no matter where it comes from. You will notice that all of the reviews are for USB to Type-C or adapters or chargers. That is where the power standards come into play.
Edit: Using your own car charger is fine as long as it is connected to a compliant USB to Type-C cable.

Thank you so very much

I've always trusted Anker. I was surprised to see they don't have a very wide offering of USB-C products or really much of any QC 3.0 products either. But I just ordered a car charger and type c cable from them on Amazon. Brand loyalty's gotta be worth something right?

Another choice is to buy a micro usb to type-c adapter if you have old cables and don't want to waste them.
Xiaomi produces a decent adapter and it's Benson Leung Certified. You can find it for $1.50 on sites like tinydeal.

Please see Benson Leung's Amazon reviews section. You can find dozens of cables reveiwed on just this one page.
amazon.com/gp/pdp/profile/A25GROL6KJV3QG/ref=cm_cr_rdp_pdp
While Amazon has changed their policy to try to get rid of bad USB type C cables, it will take a while so make sure you read a spec compliance review by somebody before you buy one.
I have bought some Tronsmart cables so far and they are pretty good quality cables.

I took your advice and read some of Benson Leung's reviews and I bought the 6' iOrange cable off of Amazon http://www.amazon.com/iOrange-E-Braided-Stepped-Connector-ChromeBook/dp/B01B7R419K?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00. $12.99 and it was here in two days. So far so good. The cable that came with the phone is so short!

Like stated above I just check reviews section for Benson Leung's comment to make sure. I ordered these (1)charger/(3)cables, should be arriving tomorrow. I don't think I'll have any issues but if I do I'll mention it. Links to amazon items under each pic.

I purchased the Anker UBC type cable from Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Anker-Devices...&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 ). Its completely too big for the charging port. I have emailed them about it on Monday but I have yet to get a response. I see someone posted a quickcharge 3.0 option.
I was considering purchasing this one ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CJ90J6O/ref=crt_ewc_title_dp_4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A294P4X9EWVXLJ ) since it actually calls out the G5.
I was also wondering , is the charger in the box with the G5 quickcharge 3.0? I didnt see that anywhere

for those people who has a QC 2.0, there is no point to upgrade to a QC 3.0, there is only a minor differences between the two and with a slightly faster speed.

you mean you can't plug the cable into the port.

Not sure how these have such good reviews:
http://www.amazon.com/USB-Type-Brai...&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00
We ordered two 2-Packs and every one of the four cables just falls out of the G5. They're extremely loose fit, cant touch the phone at all while charging or the wire just falls out.

Someone buy good type c cable?
I will order two VCE cables from aliexpres

Monoprice.com!!!!!!
http://www.monoprice.com/pages/usb_31_type_c
BEST cables I've ever used...of ANY TYPE. HDMI, USB 3.0, USB C...etc... The quality and gauge of wire is light years above the competition. EZO Power is also decent...but I keep returning to Monoprice. Never been let down!!!! Good prices, too!!!!!:good:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0197WDHF6/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_UVRfxbC22V3HP
I got one of these and it is awesome.
Sent from my LG-H830 using XDA-Developers mobile app

I just get VCE Type-c cable and it is perfect. I buy when i see Benson Leung review

I just got a bunch of micro USB to type C adapter, much safer and cheaper, since I have over 10 micro USB cables left over from my samsung and other phones.
They all work with charging/fast charging and data.
just a few out of a bunch I have purchase, not too sure what the quality is like so I got lots and different types, they only cost about USD 1-1.5 each.

I know I've read into this but I get confused and then I forget. Can someone remind me—do USB C cables (not chargers, just the cables) differ in terms of compatibility with QC 3.0? That is, I need to make sure that BOTH the charger AND the cable are QC 3.0 to ensure I'm getting it, yes?

I reached out to Anker about this issue. They asked me to remove the case and check it again. it fit much better. Still seems a bit snug, but I haven't had any issues.

i just ordered this and this. I'll let you know how well they work. i am hoping the usb cord will give me a little more room to do what I need. and the adapters will allow me to use my usb port that i hard-wired into my car.

"Cheap" USB A to USB C Cables to work with your old chargers

I was asked in another thread for this link so I thought I'd share here for others since I'm sure we're all in the same boat here.
So like you, I have a billion USB-A cables and chargers around my house, work, friends', and the car. Since we're moving to USB-C connections, that means none of those will work. There's another thread in this forum that discusses an adapter, and that might be the best solution for you. But for me, I decided I just wanted to buy a handful of cheap cables that should work well enough until we have some good options that don't cost a ton of money.
With that mindset, I went looking and checked all of the usual places - Amazon, eBay, Monoprice, etc. While I did find some cheaper options, they all came with the haze of absolutely no idea if they would work well or not. However, I did find a 4-pack on Amazon for $20 of USB-A 2.0 male -> USB-C male cables (i.e. what you need to plug into your chargers you have all over the place yet while working with your new Nexus).
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013RMG5WY
I have no clue if these are good cables but they at least have 30 reviews with a 4.6/5.0 rating. That was enough for me to buy. Once I get my N6p in, I'll test them and compare them against what ships with the phone and let you all know how well they work. Until then, your guess is as good as mine but this was the best option I could find at this time.
Hopefully this is useful to somebody else until Anker, Choetech, or somebody else comes out with some higher quality cables at a low price!

Wow, and multiple colors for that price too?
I'm sold, I was looking too but you did the final research for me. Thanks Jax!
This is tempting, I've been thinking about getting those for a few days now
Same price, all black http://www.ebay.com/itm/321859807320
Thanks for posting that. I saw those too but will wait in the hopes of finding 6 foot ones for around the same price. If anyone sees those, please post.
May be a dumb question but can this use the full potential of a 3A charger or would you need USB C at both ends?
there are several sellers on Aliexpress with cables around $2
I bought that 4 pack on amazon a few days ago and it's being shipped from the UK
FYI on that amazon link, the affiliate is probably not in the USA, based on this time on their detail page:
Continental US Street ETA 18 - 26 business days
I hate falling for this, but just wanted to point that out. But you'll probably get the cables before your shiny new 6P, so there's that! :good::good:
One plus makes nice cables if you want a flat one. I have a micro USB one that I use for traveling and its great. I might buy some of their cables if I can find them for a good price.
I was also browsing and found that Anker makes USB 3.0 to type-C cables, does that have any benefit for backups and data exchange between the phone and a computer?
Found this one on amazon for $5.45 with free prime shipping:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014J8QQT2
I believe it has to be type-c on both ends to get 3 amp charging. I think you can only get 2/3 charge rate max from a standard 4 pin cable.
@NCguy Nah it just has to be thick enough and rated for that much current
Could not for the life of me login through Chrome, had to use safari...
Anyway thoughts on this?
http://www.banggood.com/Wholesale-Cables-c-2894.html
I plan on phasing out my micro USB cables eventually, but in the meantime I figure the one that comes with it, plus 2 of these will get me by for now. Picture is a link to Amazon, $8 for two!
Those would be the same as these
Except for free shipping with no minimal order.
Just one thought. Are you sure it'd be just a matter of rating?
No "negotiation" involved between phone and charger before the phone would draw the current?
My guess would be that without "negotiation" the phone will only draw 2.1Amps (or less) tops.

And when I say "negotiation" I mean one of:
- Some kind of ID pins (which give out charger capacity) - like VGA id pins
- One or more shorted pins on the C plug to indicate current capabilty - like Asus uses, shorting a pin at the chargers USB3 plug making it give out 12v instead of 5v
- Any other other kind
Or it just uses several C plug wires for + and other as much for - and that's it.
I've seen that, even for USB2,type micro-B, different chargers make different things to the usb data pins, for instance (grounding, pulling-up) effectively with different outcome on outgoing current.
Cables that only have 2 wires will give out a different behaviour than those with 4 wires on these chargers.
For instance "charging on AC" vs "charging on USB" showing on battery monitor (or looking at the kernel values in /proc)
I have a "China Charger" with 2 outlets "for SAM" and "for IPAD" with very different results depending on the cable and device I connect there.
And I know both will output up to 2.1A (or perhaps even more), that's for sure.
My old SamSung DUOS would only charge if the charger "wasn't able" to provide more than 1Amp, for instance. Had another dual car-charger and would plug it to one of the outlets and nothing. As soon as I plugged something into the other (limiting the max current available) it'd start charging.
So there's a lot to it to be cleared on USB charging.
Anybody with some bright know-how?

The best thing about the One Plus cables are that the Type-A end is reversible too! They're a little more expensive than some of the other cables listed in this thread, but that convenience alone made it worthwhile to me.
I got some of these

The only downside is that they are limited to 2.4A but I'll manage with that as a backup. I need to stock up on cables so I'm buying a variety of them including the OP ones I've already ordered.

Original OEM USB Cable?

Hey guys!
Does anybody know where i could buy an original OEM usb cable for SM-T800 (possibly a store which ships to europe)?
I've googled around, but I found nothing but copies after reading comments?
I scanned the q-code off the plastic that came wrapped around my T800 data cable "GH39-01580A"
http://www.samsungparts.com/Products/Parts_and_Accessories/PID-GH39-01580A.aspx
EDIT: I have ordered a few cheap cables from china/hong-kong everything from 1.5ft to 10ft for my solar panel, look for "28/24AWG" which is the thickness of the wires as well as reviews.
John.
Great! Thanks
Do you know if there is any difference with ECB-DU4EWE?
It`s a number that is on my oem cable plastic wrap "ECB-DU4EWE" and "SW1FA06VS E" and the q-code printed on it is "GH39-01580A" , I suppose any of these numbers will give you the same cable, getting an oem and not a fake is another matter.
I just measured my cable it is 1.5m
I bought an cable off Amazon UK using "ECB-DU4EWE" when i bought my T800 just before Christmas, it is around 6" shorter but is the same quality and charges just as fast as the original one, I checked my Amazon account to buy another, but all i get was a different seller and the cable was black not white, so i am not buying that.
As i said, I have bought a few cheap cables from 1.5ft to 10ft and i will see how fast they charge my T800 when they are delivered, if we cannot find an oem cable, then maybe i can find a quality alternatives.

Thank you for your answers
The link below is an explanation on why cable length and quality can lead to slow charging speeds, it`s a bit had on the head, so it`s not for everybody, but some might find it interesting i did, but i think i will have to read it a few times to understand it fully.
http://goughlui.com/2014/10/01/usb-cable-resistance-why-your-phonetablet-might-be-charging-slow/
John.
I bought a couple of the "mains wall sockets" with usb charging sockets built in, there is a lot of rubbish (slow charging) and dangerous version from china, I know this because i bought a couple and the earth connection did not connect to the earth pin on an UK plug (which is very dangerous) i got a full refund after i told the seller about my problem.
So i decided to do some research and buy some good quality usb mains sockets, I found an UK eBay seller, selling some with good specification and UK certified and , so i bought two sets of 2.4amp usb mains sockets, see photo below, I have seen 1.0 amp usb sockets all the way to 4.8 amp (supposedly i have not been able to find any) the amps are shared between two usb sockets.
So i installed them and tried charging my Tab S 10.5" and i think it was charging at 1.6amp according to (galaxy charging current app) after about 30min the charging stopped, the usb wall socket had shut itself down (died) but after 10min it came back to life, but i continued to die when charging my Tab S after charging any-ware between 5-30min , my other usb mains wall socket worked fine, so i contacted the seller and they said they had sold thousands and had only had five faulty ones, so they sent me a replacement.
While i was waiting for the replacement, I bought an "usb power meter" £6 and an "usb switchable 1amp/2amp load" £1 from eBay to test my replacement wall socket.
So i tested the replacement and it worked fine, I tested it for 1hr at 2amp my usb meter showed 1.9amp but close enough so it passed.
Now i had an "usb power meter" i can check how much power my Tab S 10.5" is pulling from the usb wall socket when using different micro usb cables.
The quality of the micro usb cable and the length determines how fast your Tab S will charge, I have measured 400ma with cheap poor quality cables up to 1740ma with the usb cable that came with my Tab S.
If you are looking to buy some "usb mains sockets" a good placed to buy is Amazon for your country, as the reviews (if real) are the best way to judge which one to buy, some usb wall sockets the usb port works fine for a few weeks then dies, this seems to be an common fault, so buy from somewhere you can easily get a refund/replacement.
Anyway the photo below is of an UK (dual gang usb mains socket)
John.

I recently gave a try with a belkin usb cable from a friend of mine, and it charges at 1400mA, pretty much what I had with a huawei cable,
With my default cable, it charges around 500mA.
I didn't try any wall usb socket, but I don't know much things about how to install it and stuff, so i'll probably pass this for the moment
Interesting to know, though
By Default cable do you mean the Samsung cable that came with your Tab S ??
I am charging at 1750mA with the cable that came with my Soshine usb power bank, according to my usb power meter on my T800, the software power meter are not very reliable but better than nothing.
I found an app called "nova battery tester 1.37mb" it`s not on GP any more you have to search for it, It tests your battery capacity it take approx 1hr30m and it puts you display brightness at 100% i tried it on my old Samsung S3 and HTC EVO 3D and it said my battery`s capacity was 100% but your device needs to be supported, it checks online for the specs, I have not tried it on my T800 it is most likely not compatible.

Yes, I meant the one that came with the tab
With my original cable, I can charge around 1500mah.
With a compatible cable like Remax, it's only around 1300-1400mah.
The worse I've tried is around 500mah.
What makes an original cable charge faster btw?
Basically the original cable has thicker better quality power wires, have a read of the link below.

Ahhh... But wouldn't high quality branded compatible cables have similar qualities?
Yes, but you will need to try them to be certain, Stick to short cables, the longer they are the slower they charge this happens to even the best quality cables, read the link i posted.

I am not sure why this discussion even exists. Just buy/use any brand name micro-usb cable (anker, monoprice, etc). My T800 worked well with all micro-usb cables except for those silly cables that came with the charger for a set of flimsy wireless headphones.
I have my T800 in an hard case and this makes it difficult to connect the standard cable as it`s now 5mm inside the case, So i bought one of those magnetic cables and i have been using it for well over a years and it`s great, I don't even need to look, It pulls itself into position with a satisfying click and i get an 1.69A charge rate.
Not all brands magnetic cables give a good charge rate, so read the reviews before you buy and from somewhere you can return it, if you get a poor charge rate.

[SPAM] rapid charger that actually works for the Nexus 6p!!

Just like everyone else I've been searching for a good aftermarket charger for my phone. I purchased the Choetech rapid adapter along with the cable (sold separately) and it works beautifully.. The Nexus 6p shows rapid charging on the home screen and Ampere showed the same.
How does that compare to the OEM charger that came with the Nexus 6p? The OEM charger charged at 2920ma, while the Choetech adapter and cable charged at 2840ma. So as you can see it's right on par with the OEM charger.
Build Quality:
The build quality is exactly what you expect to received from Choetech. The body of the charger is similar to the OEM charger with smooth sides and flat top and bottom. There's branding on the the front as you see in the pictures, with specifications information next to the electrical prongs. As for the cable there's more Choetech branding on each end, but it's not intrusive and blends in with the cable. The cable material is thick which is a very good thing, as it should be able to provide adequate power and durability. I'm very happy with this cable and plan to buy another soon. Here's my setup and I did a quick video review as well. Be warned I've read reviews showing that some users received a 2.4v model only... If you watch my videos you will clearly see my charger says 3A/5V and it charges at that speed.
<MODERATOR EDITED - SPAM REFERRAL LINKS DELETED>
The quality on this cable is durable. It does pull 3A, as described, without any issues. charged my phone from 17% to 100% in
1 hour 20 min. It charges just as fast as google's provided cable.
and for the USB type-A to type C cable is also reliable. Checkr app tested and confirmed it is safe for the 2.4A (slower)rapid
charging if the power adapter can support upto 2.4A.
I will recommend this to anyone who wants a spare cable for USB-C just like me. leave one at home, and take this with me
anywhere I go to charge the device.

Is it just me or does that cable appear to struggle to charge as well as OEM? Your comparison graph shows the goggle cable working consistently better and the choetech cable never reaching the current the oem cable does.

Well, if you see the graph more closely my phone had less battery percentage for the Google's cable. I believe hungrier the battery, faster it takes. You will never see full capacity current draw at higher battery percentage.
I just bought this USB-C charger with CC cable.
It's on it's way...can't wait to test it.
You also need to make sure you order the updated version. The first version didn't comply with type c standards.
Might just go with the one on the Google website now, since it's only a few dollars more and it'll probably ship faster. Amazon says it'll arrive after Christmas now.

So you're saying the cable for sure goes up to 2.4A? Your pictures aren't showing up - just wanted to make sure.
I asked about USB-A to C before and someone was very adamant in saying, "The USB standard for an in spec Type A to C cable will charge at 1.5A. "
What does Benson Leung say about this product?

I don't have quick charger 2.0 brick or equivalent. The most I got is a Samsung brick that goes 2A at the most and I did get near that. When I get a hand on better adapter, I will test it out.
For 3A fast charging speeds, USB C Charger with CC cable is the only way
Well, I'm pretty sure that simply put, A to C reaches only 2.4A at maximum, no matter what wall charger you use. If you want full 3A fast charging speeds, C to C is the only way.
I purchased and tried their USB C wall charger with C to C cable. I wasn't disappointed. They are well built and work fine ... at almost the same fast speed as the OEM Charger.

I'm not a fan of the Google charger because it's hard wired. Wires tends to go bad before the block so its a cheaper fix than buying a whole new charger.

Odd.. do you mean the model you've got has the cable connected to the charger (i.e not removable)? The international edition (H1512) I got in Hong Kong while travelling is detachable and is type C on either end. I didnt' realize there were variations with the included accessories.

Agreed, wires do likely wear faster. But should you expect either to go bad in less than a couple of years if handled reasonably?

Using a physical power meter I've verified that the Nexus 6P will only charge at 1.5A at 5V with standard 2A/2.4A chargers (I've tried 3-4 different USB A chargers). These are far more accurate than ampere as ampere measures net current, current in minus consumed current, not just the incoming current from the charger.
I'm not aware of a physical device that measures power through a type C cable other than the twinkie device that benson mentions and is several hundred dollars.

I think he/she is referring to the extra one you buy from the accessories on the Google 6p site. The one included is a removable USB C-C cord.

Yes.....sooner or later you will probably have to replace both. I had good luck with all of my samsung charging blocks never had to replace any of them

If you read the Amazon comments so people where saying they received a different model than the one I've reviewed. As for fast charging with the Choetech after day 3 I still have no issues. It charges my phone from 1% to 100% in around 90 minutes.

Found on eBay - LEGIT OEM USB Type-C Charger LG Nexus 5X (using on my 6P!)

USB Type-C is great, until you realize that you probably want more than one charger, then you realize that you'll be spending $25 and up. Or so I thought.
I don't like this Google USB Type-C charger which has a non-removable cable. I just really hate the idea of having to toss the power brick once the cable has a short in it.
I searched eBay for a Lumia 950/950 XL charger, a Nokia N1 charger, and the OEM 6P charger, hoping to save a few bucks, but I had no hits. People are clinging to their USB Type-C chargers evidently.
So, recalling that the 5X is also Type-C, I did a search for an OEM 5X charger and I stumbled onto this eBay listing.:good:
For $17.99, how could I not grab one? It's the only one that didn't have me envisioning my apartment and cat going up in flames. So, I had no way to tell if it was indeed real, because I've never seen a 5X in person. When I opened the package, the cable just felt so cheap, the sheathing is thin and kinda satin-like. The best way I could think to verify if it's legit was Youtube unboxing vids, so I watched this video on Youtube and the dude holds up the cable and charger to the camera, like really close, and it matches what I have exactly! Yes, down to the little holes in the plastic on the USB connectors.
I have no doubt that it's real. It also does rapid charging (5V with 3 AMP output + "Charging Rapidly" is displayed on the phone)
I just thought I'd share this little gem with you guys. =) Oh, I ordered on the 4th and it arrived today, on the 11th, and had tracking too. Just thought I'd toss that out there!
If I remember right, cables that aren't spec'ed properly will still display "Charging Rapidly". Have you checked using Ampere?

My PC is not equipped with a USB Type-C port to test with that app, but here's this: The OnePlus cable always caused my phone to display "Charging Rapidly" on the lock screen, but never provided a time until the charge would be complete. This 5X charger however displays "Charging rapidly (12 minutes until full)" once the phone has time to calculate it. Well, 12, 36, etc. :good:

I will try that app real quick.
EDIT: 1420mA max on my 6P stock charger and 1400mA max on the 5X charger. Given that my battery is 92% full, I think it's fair to say it's legit.
I had a Nexus 5X and that charger/packaging look identical to the one that's included in the box. Now, this doesn't mean it's legitimate, but it's a good sign.

You need to run ampere when the battery is less than 10% to really see what the charger can do. As the battery charges, the current is reduced. Therefore this 1.4A may still be ok. Try it at 10% and report back to see how close to 3000ma you get.
I was under the impression that Ampere results were skewed by the amount of current being used by the phone while the charging was taking place.
This is a good idea though, sourcing the chargers for other phones as USB Type-C becomes more prevalent. Personally, I think I can get by with 2.4A chargers/micro-usb adapters and use the OEM charger at home if I need a quick charge before I go out for an evening.

It won't charge over 1.5A using an proper C adapter or A-C cable. A 2.4A charger would be pointless unless its just something you have laying around.
I also mentioned earlier that Ampere isn't accurate but there are no C-C multimeter's that I've seen so far
Well, the phone is giving an ETA to full charge, something it never did with the OnePlus cables. I think that, coupled with that packaging and likeness, says that these are legit. It's only $18, so if anyone would like to take testing any further, go for it. I'm convinced it's legit - Ampere gives the same readings with the stock charger, and even if the app isn't the greatest metric, that's a good sign. =)

The one plus cables are dangerous to use and do not meet the USB specification. There's no way to really know if the charger is an OEM item unless you have a 5X charger to compare it to.
You bought a $500+ phone and you are worried about "saving" $8 by buying an unknown charger from eBay?
I just bought the cable from Google as if something were to happen with my phone as a result of the Google cable, it's going to be a lot easier to get a fix for the cable and/or the phone with Google than trying to tell Google I used a cable I thought was good that I bought from eBay.

As I said in the first post, I don't want a charger with a fixed cable - soon as the cable takes a crap, the whole thing is just garbage. I have never been a fan on fixed cable solutions. And what does it matter that I bought a $649 phone? No one should want to spend $40 on a charger with a removable cable from Google. If I wanted to drop that much money to charge my pricy device, I would have bought one of those new Macbooks.
The point of the post was just to give other people a heads up that I found a good deal on an OEM charger, not to argue with people about it or be called a tightwad. I can afford a $40 charger, but no, I won't buy one.

I wouldn't touch that eBay crap with a 10 foot pole. My phone is $600. I am not about to put it or any other piece of electronics in my house in danger because I wanted to skimp on chargers.
There are many charging blocks and Type C cables that are Benson verified and really cheap on Amazon. I'm not calling you a tightwad (although even then, spending ~$20 on Amazon would net you a proper charger that would for sure be Benson approved and non-captive, which is what you want). I think you're a fool to be blindly recommending Type C chargers without actually knowing if they are legitimate or not. Fake devices are notorious on eBay for looking visually identical to their real counterparts. Seriously? Comparing to what you saw in a YouTube video?
You may be fine taking the risk. But don't sit there getting all self-righteous because people are rightly skeptical of some no name eBay listing, especially when your only proof is an Ampere screenshot that tells us nothing and your own interpretation of the "Charging rapidly" text on your lockscreen.

Decent charging cable?

I've been burned twice now by Aukey's cables. All of them became loose and stopped working after a couple of weeks. Some of them didn't even work out of the box! I look at their reviews and I see 4+ stars. How can I trust any reviews on Amazon after that? I know you guys are buying these things and I trust this community to know what's good, so does anyone have a good recommendation for charger cables that don't suck?
Edit: it's been about 3 months now, I went with the anker powerline cables and they've all held up so far. We have 4 phones and 2 tablets plus PS4 controllers and various other devices so they get a lot of use. Very pleased with these I bought some more just in case.
Thanks for everyone's suggestions! Keep them coming so other people can see what's good!
I've personally found Anker's cables (esp. their Powerline series) to be very good. They're a bit more expensive, though. I'm really hoping you wont buy one and get burned by it, but I honestly can't see how that could even happen. :/

Here to recommend Anker cables. I've never had a problem with them.
Also you should check out thewirecutter.com. They just posted a review for best Micro-USB cables. Monoprice, AmazonBasics, and Anker cables came out on top.
I have used Anker Cables for awhile now, I just ordered a few more that are braided. They all have held up without any issues.

Never trust Amazon paid reviews, I'm using an old Motorola charging usd cable from my old Moto X 1st gen and works great but it take ages to charge
Anker braided cables matey. I also use my samsung tablet cable which takes a high ampage for the tab so the phone doesn't hurt it
I've gotta put another vote for Anker, love their cables.

Wow - I thought people were only kidding about the Aukey cables - I just got the Aukey PA-T2 42W charger and the included cable became all loose and unusable in just 2 days. I had a mini heart attack at first because I thought that the USB port on my phone had gone bad, and was dreading the whole warranty repair situation etc. but as I started using other chargers and cables it became apparent that it was only the Aukey cable that sucked. I bought an Aukey car charger too - that cable is still holding up, but I know now that it's just a matter of time.

Good car charger. I got the same (see above), but I would imagine it's just a matter of time before the included cable fails. If that's not an issue for you, go ahead.
If its just the cable that sucks I think ill jump on it. I didnt notice it even came with a cable till the second time looking at the auction, main reason was for a fast car charger. Any one know of better one was for similar pricing?

I must add to the excellence that is anker! Not just in cables, but in nearly everything they make! The customer service (should you ever need to use them, as I have) is fantastic as well!
I use the iOrange ones (http://www.amazon.com/iOrange-E-Rev...=1460143440&sr=8-1&keywords=iorange+micro+usb) and I've had 0 issues with them. The USB cable "can be inserted both ways" apparently (tested true) but the plug is in the middle and bends whichever way it needs to go, so not sure how long that will hold up if you keep switching directions. I bought 2 of them, very good build construction and good charge speed. Only had for about 3 months tho, so again be careful with the switching of which way you put your USB in.

how did these hold up over time?
I agree regarding Anker. Their 18 month warranty is superb and I've never had a problem getting replacements
i too can say I bought a two pack of red/black/gold tipped Anker cables and have had excellent results so far. the gold tips bend a little too easily, so my droid turbo gnawed one, but the cable quality and data/charging speeds are superb. im still wondering about reversible cables, specifically the above referenced ones if anyone else rolled the dice on them. the Anker cables have been great so far. i wonder about their power line + ones and whether they are worth the extra (roughly double) $$.
Also, as far as Aukey goes, im on the fence. my car qc 2.0 (T1 i think) i bought 13 months ago just failed out of the blue. wishing i had bought one that states 18 month warranty like the newer amazon listings do. Oh well. Anyone recommend a good car turbo charging option, preferably 2 QC 3.0? aside from aukey. lol.
