Hi all,
I've been caught out in the past by buying the wrong variant of a Samsung Galaxy phone. Of course, I'm looking for the one that has the most customisability. I think that means I want the Snapdragon 820 version, as the Exynos version is far less likely to have CM released for it, or be easily ROMed. I would also prefer the version with the Sony camera sensor, however that difference is less important as the reviews seem to indicate performance between the Sony and Samsung sensors are pretty close to identical.
What are the thoughts of people here? Which variant should I be looking for?
Unfortunately all snapdragon s7's have a locked bootloader, if you want root and touchwiz roms you'll want the exynos version.

Hi everyone!
I think we are all excited to try the latest iteration of Samsung's flagship device, but as a custom ROM fan/user/addict, i have some serious concerns and doubts about the availability of drivers for Exynos chipsets, since Samsung never provided these before for its older Exynos phones. So, basically, for anyone who knows about what i'm talking here - if you wanted the best Galaxy S variant for custom ROMs, you just had to get a Snapdragon version and stay away from the Exynos one, since Snapdragon provides all the necessary drivers to make the resulting custom ROMs more efficient and fully customizable. Exynos is severely limited due to lack of official drivers for the chipset, so for older Galaxy flagship models, like the S3 and S4, developers had to painstakingly code a lot more to make their custom ROMs work smoothly and even then the additional coding introduced a lot of bugs which took longer to squash before a final stable release of the custom ROM was finally available. So... my questions is, has there been any effort by Samsung lately or any indications at all that we would be getting the complete package of kernel + source for the entire S6 hardware? If not, then we should probably skip the S6 for now. I think M9 is going to be a clear winner in the custom modding category with its Snapdragon chipset and ever since the M7, the modding community (including myself) have fallen in love with the HTC One. But i want to diversify and try the Samsung S6 for 2015, so here i am wondering if anyone can help to clarify these - no nonsense fanboism please!
Hello !
I am thinking of upgrading from S6. One thing I hate about S6 is it is hard for developers to develop ROMs for the exynos. I'm thinking about getting the Snapdragon version of S7 for this reason. What do you think about the difference in terms of Performance and Heating ? :fingers-crossed:

ATM, all of the Snapdragon-based versions have a locked bootloader = no rooting or ROM development. Developing AOSP- or CM-based ROMs won't be possible for the Exynos version for a loooonng time, if ever.
The difference in performance will be unnoticeable unless you like to sit around and run benchmarks, but even so, the SD820 wins some, the Exynos 8890 wins some.

If it have the 820 battery life plus the lack of android os and system drain I'm game for it
I'm interested in buying this phone, and I've already noticed that exynos version is more supported by devs here and in overall it's better. But my problem is, what is the codenumber of the exynos version, not sure if I call it properly but I'm talking about this SM - T310 thing for example. I just couldn't find it anywhere... And my question is which one is for which phone, or if it's country specified, then can someone tell me how can I get the better version?
Sm-g930f is international, sm-g930w8 is canadian exynos.
Sm-g930a 930t 930v 930s 930u is att/tmo/verizon/sprint/carrier unlocked snapdragon.

I bought my exynos S7 from them. Very reputable, fast delivery and excellent price. I would not recommend getting the snapdragon. The root for it is very buggy and there is no support from developers because the bootloader is locked and will likely never be unlocked. I have my S7 rooted with VoLTE, WiFi calling and unlimited tether. To answer your question, it's the SM-G930F. The G935F is the S7 Edge.

The thing for me is that I live outside the US so when all the taxes and duties that are coming together make the price $300 higher, and yeah i just noticed that Samsung with the snapdragon one is just lonely and noone cares about him heh Thanks a lot too
I own the exynos and it has root and comes with an unlocked bootloader but the roms for the exynos aren't that great because all of the devs are bored with with exynos and their sh*t because it's very hard to develop things for exynos Samsung are very closed with the code, and the snapdragon comes with a locked bootloader, but if it ever does get unlocked the Roms for it will be very nice and not just a modified TouchWiz. If you plan on instantly rooting then get the exynos, but there aren't any stable AOSP Roms for it and probably never will.

The exynos source code was released not long ago. So there will be support. Superman ROM is awesome and very stable. Also, I read somewhere that Lineage OS is in the works for S7.

Works and being stable-very different things.
If you want more info read this https://www.xda-developers.com/samsung-exynos-and-aosp-explained-a-story-of-betrayal/
And a quote from the linked post: "There’s no future. Almost all devs have stopped working on exynos devices a long time ago. Most of them even stopped to work on samsung devices in general.
...
They simply don’t care about the community. All they care about is $$$"
Most of the devs only care about money NOT ALL. Some are creating Roms for fun tho

I respectfully disagree Sir. You are correct that there has been very little support as far as roms go, however that is due to Samsung holding onto the source for the kernel. It has just been released within the last couple months. I guess is comes down to opinion partially. I love the S7 because it's hardware is superior to that of other devices and TouchWiz is actually very nice imho. Also, I can't live without SD card. >_< I would buy a OnePlus or Pixel if they had SD card.

I guess that the fact that I hate TouchWiz makes me disagree and there are no good stable Roms and like you said there is Lineage and also there's Resurucction Remix but last time I checked out the Ressurction Remix even the camera doesn't work and Lineage is also before even an alpha stage from what I know the rom doesn't even have download links yet.
Exynos is proven to be a better chip over snapdragon
So, apparently US S10e with snapdragon is locked down and exynos is just hard to build ROMs for.

This phone is a good size considering everything is so large these days. I want to get this phone...

... is there any change that it would get a custom ROM in the future or "no way in hell"? Exynos or Snapdragon?

Exynos will get AOSP GSI.
Is there a thread where it is being worked on?
Or just look here in the future: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s10e/development
Hi
Many users may knowing, I am supporting ROM development since N02 to N20 and now S22U is replaced Note series, I am planning to buy it but thinking to go with majority users. This time my country going to get SD. Before buying I want to know how majority users getting it (specifically who are interested in root & custom ROM).
Kindly vote If you are interested to ROOT & custom ROM only.
Thinking on sell my Note 10+, on my country we are getting the Exynos version like always

SD in this case means Snapdragon.
It seems this time Snapdragon share will be much more, may needed to support both version which is much diffiult.
For those interested in the Snapdragon variants, you can pre-order on Wondamobile https://www.wondamobile.com/mobile/samsung/samsung-galaxy-s.html (will ship around March 7)
Keep in mind: Samsung Pay most likely won't work in Europe because the variant is meant for another region. I believe they are selling the Chinese variant, not 100 % sure though.
Personally I've never ordered from Wonda before, but I've only heard good things about them, even on this forum.

May I further add Dr. Ketan that us Snapdragon folks haven't had any good choices for the last couple of years and have been watching with envy from afar.... I also think you'll might just enjoy the challenge of tinkering with a different variant
Gett8ng s22u in Italy, so exynos ver. Interested obviously in ketan rom, that i use in pro version in s21 ultra (i was the first contributor for this phone)
Hats off for your continuous effort bringing the best custom rom development to those that need / want it.
Personally I stopped rooting and customizing my devices a while ago but still keen on following development.
Thanks for keeping the spirit alive

Hi,
From France I'll have an Exynos version. I might be interested in your rom.
Looking forward to a variety of custom ROMs for the SnapDragon variant this time (Exynos had it good all these years)
Snapdragon here
Just to share good news guys
S22 bootloader unlock screen I have extracted from S22 ultra and there is no camera disable warning. Cheers!
No idea what is going on. everyone talking India is etting snapdragon this time but when I have extracted CSC file from official S22 ultra firmware, India is included in exynos and there no India CSC there on snapdragon firmware csc
I live in the UK so Exynos. Pre-ordered my phone already. I believe ignoring the Exynos version won't be easy that much since whole EU with get that version and XDA is English speaking forum and I believe most user from EU or english speaking countries.
LOL. Exynos was always supported. You can't stop now. We count on you. And thank you for all these years.
In fact, with USA/ Canada/Australia/ New Zealand and now India - most English-speaking users will be having the Snapdragon variant.
A lot of the EU users don't necessarily speak English, especially central & eastern parts of Europe. Quite a few may import the Snapdragon variant (especially if Exynos variant turns out to be relatively inferior as has been the recent trend).
