hi guys,
any help with a couple of problems would be appreciated...
firstly, when i update my mi4c through the update app, what gets wiped? do i lose all my internal storage files?
secondly, when i try to update to latest update, via downloading from the app, and also copying downloaded rom from the miui website... the new update wont install. I get the error message "Error update.zip signature verification failed"
i have tried to search for a solution but i am just confused and cant find what to do. Does anyone have a solution for me?
many thanks
Update from the app will lead you to a loicked bootloader. Read about that before starting !
Thank you for the reply, I have read about bootloader yeah. Have my unlock permission, thats why I was updating. But as I say, I can't update because of the stated problem . any ideas?
hi guys, can someone please tell me what gets deleted when i flash an update rom? my entire internal memory?

Hello, I'm not very good at this but i have hopes that someone out there might wanna explain this to an idiot like me.
I have an unrooted Nexus One. I've never done anything with it more than install some launchers and blabla.
I got a system update not too long ago, now I'm stuck on FRG83D and I can't update to anything. I've been downloading the right files, renamed it to update.zip and followed all the steps of what to do but all i get is a message saying "installation aborted". I've tried EVERYTHING and now I don't know what to do.
IF SOMEONE CAN HELP ME, PLEASE! I'll be forever thankful!

This seems strange, especially if you're successfully booting into recovery and getting as far as starting the installation. Does it show 'Installation Aborted' immediately, or is there some period of activity?
Everything you need to know is in the Nexus One section.
Hello guys,
I made some mistakes with my phone! I rooted it a few weeks ago with towelroot to use greenify, I also unlocked the Bootloader. I also installed Rom Manager (v5.5.3.7) with the CWM Recovery (6.0.4.5)!
I went to the OTA helpdesk and I thought I am able to flash the OTA like a normal rom. But everytime I try to flash it I get an error saying Installaton Aborded.
Can someone help me please i am quite lost here
Thank you in advance

Questions go in Q&A, and the answer to your question is in this very forum (General)

Hello Eddy,
I already read rootSU´s post! But i cant seem to figure out what i have to do... i am very sorry if I offended someone
the ota updater script checks your system partition. if theres anything modified, missing or not like the native Android 4.4.4 Version, it will abort.
you should be able to download the complete lollipop flashing file from Google Server and flash this with any tool kit. i usually use wug's. but its in you to choose what ever you like.

I have a Nokia XL RM-1030 v1.2.3.1. Im currently using the stock OS of this phone but rooted it with Nokia X Manager. I have a problem installing Gapps on this phone because everytime I try installing it by RootExplorerApp+Reboot or by downloading NokiaXGapps Zip and installing it via NokiaXManager it wont install. First I downloaded a NokiaXGapps zip then used the RootExplorerApp+Reboot method and in the guide that i followed it clearly said that after i reboot it PlayStore along with other Gapps will be installed but after i reboot my phone it didnt showed up in menu. Thinking for another way ,I tried using NokiaXManager to install it so i downloaded the required zip and when im going to flash it it FAILED . It said something like this "Skipping md5..md5 file not found. Error flashing this zip" .Sorry i cant clearly remember what it said but Im quite sure that it said something like that. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
(P.S. I really feel the need to move my CoC account in this phone! And also sorry for my bad english )

Hello everyone,
well I really don't know how to start without embarrassing myself so here it goes. Somehow I managed wipe everything from my Huawei P8max. Completely everything. The phone was rooted before and I decided to update it and I erased everything. I can still flash it with the official root tool or official recovery but that's about it.
Right now I'm on official recovery and when I press volume + volume - and power button it says "Software install failed! The update package does not exist. Please download the package again."
I tried searching for firmware almost everywhere with no luck (including Huawei site)
I got no clue how to fix it I'm a noob, anyone can help me please?
Phone is DAV-703L
Best Regards,
E.
Download software here: http://www.needrom.com/download/p8max-dav-703l/ then put the update app in dload and flash it via recovery.

Flashing instructions are at the bottom of the page.
Enjoy.
Thank you guys, you rock ! :good: :good: :good:
Just finished installing the OS and all the updates. Google play store was gone so I downloaded it.
Any idea how can I get rid off the Chinese letters/descriptions, there is quite a few of them. I did search the forum and didn't find anything unless I missed it.
Last question, can I root the phone using the old method ?
Thanks both of you !

You probably need to setup the locale.
try this: https://f-droid.org/repository/browse/?fdfilter=locale&fdid=com.sweetiepiggy.everylocale
or this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.evanhe.locale
thanks
Thank you, the first link didn't work for me (permission denied) so I switched to 2nd one.
For some reason Play Store is getting uninstalled on it's own every few hours and I started reinstalling it with Titanium backup. Annoying.
Hi all, i own a Samsung S8+, model G955FD. I was following the steps on "https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-install-android-oreo-on-the-samsung-galaxy-s8-s8-exynos/" to get Oreo on my device, but i encountered the problem User besnik_limani encountered as seen in the comments. To sum it up, after installing the first AQL5 to ZRA5.zip file, the phone keeps restarting when I try to get it to Update from ADB. So now I am stuck with a phone that is running Oreo beta 6 (I think it is?).
Anyone knows a fix to get my ADB back up again so i can update the 2nd ZIP file?
Also, while running on this version, would i still get OTA software updates?
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!
Same problem here, whenever i press aply udate from adb, i get mini restart, and the phone is back into recovery, while the erros in the recovery itself are
:
fail to open recovery_cause no such file or directory
reboot recovery cause_is unknown or something like that.
Anyone find solution?
Isn't this firmware is for is for G955F?
G955F and G955FD is actually difference device as the second one is Duo version.
I encountered this problem too. But when I tried to put the update in the sdcard, i got `footer is invalid`. Now I will go back to nougat by downloading the original firmware.

I was getting the restart as soon as I selected apply update via ADB. To solve this I set up the phone and dragged the zip to the SD card and flashed it in stock.
Be warned though, the bootloader becomes locked on some for about 7 days. You won't be able to flash a custom recovery nor root. I made the mistake now I have to wait.
