Hello, I'm not very good at this but i have hopes that someone out there might wanna explain this to an idiot like me.
I have an unrooted Nexus One. I've never done anything with it more than install some launchers and blabla.
I got a system update not too long ago, now I'm stuck on FRG83D and I can't update to anything. I've been downloading the right files, renamed it to update.zip and followed all the steps of what to do but all i get is a message saying "installation aborted". I've tried EVERYTHING and now I don't know what to do.
IF SOMEONE CAN HELP ME, PLEASE! I'll be forever thankful!

This seems strange, especially if you're successfully booting into recovery and getting as far as starting the installation. Does it show 'Installation Aborted' immediately, or is there some period of activity?
Everything you need to know is in the Nexus One section.

I am new here, and I watched the video. I read a ton of info before I started to root my razr. I bricked it about a dozen times in 24 hours as I worked it over and over again to see if I could get it on my own.
I failed miserably, but I never gave up. Even though my wife laughed at me, I was determined.
Now, finally, I am rooted. I have some cool apps running as well as being tethered. My problem seems to be that I cannot get the roms to load properly. I have been trying the eclipse jelly bean, but I get errors every time.
I am running a version of eclipse now, I think 1.2 or something, maybe not. not the one I want, anyway. I just want one that is fast and clean and looks good doing it.
What am I doing wrong here? I loaded a ROM successfully but I do not get the backgrounds and widgets that I thought I should be getting.
Can I get a little help here? I want to keep trying and get something I really like.
I am using safestrap, I wipe the data, the cache(s) and even format /system. I go into safe enabled and install from zip on my sd card and return to safe not enabled, but sometimes I get an error loading. It is not the signature error, but I also don't recall the exact phrasing, it just fails to load the zip and aborts. The zip is as downloaded, I have not altered it or created another zip from it.
I have had to restore several times and I am very glad I did a backup after getting it rooted!
So can anyone send me to the right location for a tutorial or just tell me the steps to get a nice ROM loaded and maybe even recommend some ROMs to me?? I really want to know more and get this to a science.
Thanks for the help!!

Wrong section of the forum if you have the original razr. Razr hd has root but no safe strap or ROM support yet. I hope you aren't trying original razr stuff on the hd.

Please can someone help me out.
i am sort of technically minded but not quite a computer wizz.
my wife has a huawei ascend but since updating to ics the phone seemed very sluggish slow and bloated. i got online and found a lot were having the same issues and then i found instructions on how to load a custom version of ics that would not slow and was generally better. i did find the instructions quite straight forward but stupidly i missed one step so once it came to the final stage the custom ics just would not load. i left the phone for a few days, planning to just repeat everything from scratch but before i had a chance an update became available on the phone and my wife choose to install it. which then lead to this message, "image signature verify fail your app boot image may have an incorrect signature. please update your image to a signature official one.
although i dont fully understand un rooting a phone i guess this is the reason.
As i have said i am not a computer wizz so wont understand a lot of technical terms but i can follow instructions so if anyone knows what i can do then please please help me.
Thanks
I've rooted and have custom-ROM'd my G300 nearly 30 times now, so I hope I can be of help.
Could you please let us know, what exactly you've done so far, or link to which instructions you followed?
Then, I should be able to point you in the right direction for a fix

The same happened to my G300... After an OTA Vodafone update, when the phone seemed to finish the update and reboot, that message appeared with the exclamation mark...
Hey guys, here is my problem...
I had rooted my note using Zedomax's guide, and installed custom bootloader n all...
First time I tried to do OTA update, it just said 'bad file' < something along that line, tried it again and same.
Then I flashed a different bootloader I found here on the forums <sorry I cant seem to recall the link> and still, the process stops at 24% time and time.
I've tried this for about 6-7 times till now, always fails.
Still stuck in stock 4.0.4, can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance.

F*** knows why anyone would flash a bootloader .
Read the faqs and guides before playing with firmware .
Try
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1978840
Essential return to stock is factory reset flash upgrade firmware via KIES or stock firmware via Odin .

Cos people try anything when they have no idea... Instead of reading just a little to find out they will blindly throw themselves off cliffs because the instructions say so....

Yea, I was just asking for help there, not your personal opinion. Thanks anyways!
Come on guys, why so serious?
everyone make mistakes, im 100% sure even people who read everything possible would make mistakes at first. thats how people learn.
If u cant help in a friendly manner, then dont help at all, there is some others here who would help.
@DeeChan
anyway, glad that you got ur problem solved.
Thought I would be brave and root my note and then upgrade to android 4.4. So much for easy!
The root worked and when I tried to run the cm-11-20141031-UNOFFICIAL-n8013 zip file it aborted saying that it was for devices including GT-N8013 which is what I have. The zip program is telling me that my device is p4noterf. Also says it has a status 7error.
Saw one thread that started to talk about, but didn't go far. Talking about Philz.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Not bricked yet but close enough to make me give up for now.
