dianxin folder? - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone else got this folder on the internal memory? Never seen it before

Seems you downloaded an app that created this folder cause i don't have it.

Strange because i have no new apps since updating to Marshmallow. And definitely never had it before then

Google it, it's known since 2012. Looks like biadu trash. There a many reports now. I would do a factory reset and use a good virusscanner.

I have Google'd it but all i seemed to find was about some aftermarket rom. Which i have nothing to do with as I'm completely stock

I've had this too on my N7, can delete it but it keeps coming back, usually within 15 minutes. Tried uninstalling the latest apps I had installed, made no difference. Checked my N6 and the folder did not exist there.
When I installed the latest ES File Explorer update on my N6 the folder instantly appeared. I had already installed that update on my N7.
I have uninstalled ES from my N7 and 8 hours later I still do not have dianxin on my N7.

Ah... So it's es file explorer causing it?
I do love that file explorer but every update just seems to keep adding more and more [email protected] lately

Seems to be ES File Explorer: my father has very few apps on his phone (all installed from Google Play) and he also has this folder.
I think it's extremely suspicious.
I created a thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/general/es-file-explorer-malware-dianxin-folder-t3348545

I've had it with the ES File Explorer crap. By my estimation, they're boardering on malware at this point. Anyone have and suggestions for a power user friendly file explorer that works as well as ES and has powerful root-friendly features (preferably with a few of the bells and whistles that make it easy to use) but without all the bloat and shady stuff they're adding recently?

I've gone to cabinet beta instead. I've used it before and it's been good

Before ES File Explorer, I used root Explorer, but for some things, it isn't as good as ES File Explorer.
Otherwise, I've checked into that dianxin folder and I found 2 files: the 1st one is an .0 file but I couldn't open it as other .0 files I've tested.
The 2nd one is named "journal" and I could open it with a text editor:
"libcore.io.DiskLruCache
1
1
1
CLEAN e8dd70db5163eccfbe80f53c786ae2a2980"
Any idea what it could be?

Nexus 6 here, not rooted and stock, latest version of ES Explorer and no dianxin folder on my device.

I've uninstalled es on both my Z5 and my work asus zenpad and deleted the dianxin folder and it hasn't come back on either so definitely an es thing

I used root explorer before going to ES File Explorer. I changed because root explorer can't write on the sd card if I'm not rooted.
I'll try File Manager

I also used to use file explorer and moved away because it can't write to SD unless rooted like the poster above. I now use fx and love it

I got an answer from the developers, false alarm it seems:
"Hi, Thanks for your concern. As you may noticed that, in order to keep contact with users, we add message box page at the homepage, and dianxin folder is where cache files store. In the next version, we will move this folder into .estrongs. In case you are interested, dianxin is dessert in Chinese. Greeting from team."

honeycomb bootanimation

Hey all, I know this is old but I couldn't find the honeycomb bootanimation in these forums. I wanted it to fully complete my honeycomb theme for CM7, and after some digging around I managed to find it on another forum.
EDIT:As per request, I've made a few flashable zips for this bootanimation. I've tested each out and they should work if your using CWM3, sorry about the previous posting of flashable zip that didn't work! I've corrected the mistake and hope that you all enjoy this animation as much as I do.
If you haven't completely read this thread and are new to the rooting 'scene' each rom is different, the animations can be placed into different places depending on what your running be it /data/local/ , /system/media/ , or /system/customize/resource/ . It's up to YOU to know where it belongs as I've made each zip for each location. If you don't know where it belongs, get to reading your roms thread in the Dev section and see if there is any information there.
And remember.. NANDROID first!! I will not be held responsible for anything happening to your phone or life because of this. Although if the flash fails you'll either be left with your original animation or a black screen. I'd much rather you use Root Explorer or some other file manager with root access to do this so you'll know where to place the bootanimation.zip in the future.. but thats completely up to you.
Enjoy and let me know if this works/doesn't work and I'll do my best to help you- I'm not a serious developer nor will I take the title of devoloper as I only have a basic understanding of code and how the android system works.
Anyone want to make this a flashable zip? I would be eternally greatful! Also what are the dimensions on this guy? Fit an incredible screen?
Yup I have it running on mine and it looks GORGEOUS.

I've tried other apps that say root explorer, but couldn't get them to work. They might work but I bought root explorer, easy and well worth the money. On two different roms i've used you have to place the zip in system \customize\resource and name it exactly like the existing bootanimation. Same with audio. Example VZW_bootanimation.zip just rename original adding (.bak) incase you need to go back.

I agree, root explorer is a valuable tool if your planning on customizing your phone out. Its well worth the money and has replaced every file manager I've ever used. Great for me since I like to do things on the fly when I'm not home.

What permissions should it have? So far I've been unable to get it to work. I either get the default "android" or a black screen. Either way it boots anyway so I guess it doesn't really matter, but it's just fun to change things around some.

This is what mine is set up as, where have you guys placed the zip file? Depending on your rom you may have to rename it to " vzw_bootanimation.zip " try that out.

[APP][ICS+][20130718] Cyanogen File Manager ICS Port

The release of CM10 and higher came with an awesome file manager that I wanted to use on CM9 and non-CyanogenMod ROMs. After some forking, coding and building I was able to get it up and running.
Below you'll find info on how to install and run the CyanogenMod File Manager (CMFM) on any Android device running ICS or higher.
Thanks to jruesga and the CyanogenMod team for releasing this awesome app.
Starting 2013-07 I'm only building the F-Droid branch. The package name of the F-Droid branch is com.cyanogenmod.filemanager.ics. Because of this versions prior to 2013-07 will have a different package.
Latest Build: 1.0.1.5
Sync with upstream
Install Method 1
Download APK from below
Try standard install of an apk
Enjoy
Install Method 2
Download and install F-Droid from fdroid.org
Refresh the repo's
Install the latest CyanogenMod Filemanager back port
Known Issues
NFC may not work right, if at all. I disabled some of the NFC code to get API level 14 compatibility
If you run into a problem with the normal install process please try installing using the F-Droid method mentioned above. Failing that you'll need to copy the apk file to /system/apps using a root file explorer.
APK Download
The current build can be found as an attachment to this post, all builds can be found over on box: https://nuskunetworks.box.com/s/gz4c3hxlinp5umvduv4y
There is also an F-Droid repo at "https://nusku.net/fdroid/" that can be used for installation (see above for instructions).
Sources
https://github.com/mcrosson/android_packages_apps_CMFileManager
Each release starting 2013/06 has a corresponding tag in the git repo. Tags are created when a build is known working and ready for release.
Issues / Tracker
Please post any issues found here or at the github issue tracker here (link). Please don't submit tickets to the CM team as this is an unofficial back port to ICS and non-CM ROMS.

Good to know. All I've really focused on was porting the current code over with minimal changes. Hopefully over time they will get it to a point where its fast in general. I've not used it much myself, been sticking to ES File Explorer. I did the back port mainly for the CM9 ROM I put together for the Samsung Rugby Smart.

Same here (on a Thunderbolt running Liquid ICS). It takes a rather long time opening any directories with a large number of files/dirs. Sorry, can't define "large" here though. Also, it apparently doesn't cache dir contents either, so once it opens /sdcard and I browse to sub-dirs and then return to /sdcard, it again takes a long time to re-open.
For reference, Astro and Root Explorer don't display the same slowness, so I don't think it's a phone or SD card issue.

I am not sure what is causing the slowness. It could be the number of files in the directory being a problem. I am working on an updated build right now, can you try it out once it goes online?

Tried SE, still not able to move anything into system/app. It was suggested In the viper thread to try reflashing elemental first, then dirty flash viper. If that doesn't work only thing to do would be to completely wipe. I did come from ICS without wiping everything in twrp (ran the wipe in aroma though). Could that have anything to do with it? I know that's farfetched but I'm not sure what else it could be.

edit: just an update. i dirty flashed both viper and elemental and im still unable to move the files. only thing left is to do a complete wipe again.
Make a zip to flash in twrp. Or use a zip from themes that flashes system apps... Open with 7zip and replace those files with yours.. then close zip. Flash in twrp.

Ext SD-Card
Thanks Op
A question, I see that we can set tabs now, the default is (Root & Storage). I tried to add a third tab to external SD Card, with setting the path in preferences to /Storage/extSdCard, but it always opens an empty tab. I would like to pin a tab for ExtSdCard.
Any ideas?
Edit: Got it figured, it's (/mnt/extSdCard), not (/storage/extSdCard).

How to Access Files on PC over Wifi
Hi
I'm hoping someone can help me out. Am using RE v3.0.1 and can't find a way to access my home PC (or any files on it) from within RE, as you can with ES File Explorer for example.
There is the ability to add a 'Network (SMB)' tab but the scan function produces nothing. Even when I manually enter some details into a 'Server' pop up that displays when you add the Network (SMB) tab, still nothing.
I'm sure I'm missing something something but my small brain can't work out what!
Any advice gratefully received..:good:

ES File Explorer cannot get root

Hi, I'm trying to install the material designs gapps on my Android 5 install (used http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/development/rom-n5-l-developer-preview-t2796003).
When I try to toggle the "Root Explorer" option in ES it says "Sorry, tests failed. This feature cannot be enabled on your device". SU is working and busybox is installed, I used an app to verify that root is working and succesfully got root working in Titanium Backup (but only after enabling "Force system BusyBox").
I tried another file explorer app and had the same problem.
Any idea what might be going wrong?

I have the same problem!! D:
Trying to edit some stuff on the build.prop and failed. Root checker says me that I have root access, and Titanium Backup works well.

It originally came from chainfire or sykopompos or ramjet, i can't remember now. I just saved it to my box account so I never lose it

I imagine those with a full permissive kernel such as sykopompos, won't need pie patch.

ES File Explorer feels like one of the most bloated file explorers ever.. Don't know why a bunch of people like it when there are much better alternatives, but oh well, preferences are preferences lol

Is this something that will eventually get fixed by newer SuperSU versions?
No idea? But it doesn't really matter if you flash the patch anyways

I just applied this patch to my Nexus 10 and it does not work. How do I revert the changes it made(if any)? Thanks.

Because it is one of the oldest file explorers out there. Many of us have been using it since the Donut days. It includes lan samba share access, and ftpall in one app.
Not sure why you think it's bloated. If having useful features is bloated, then sign me up on the bloat train.

I switched from Linda to Astro to ES to Solid. ES was the best of the other 3 but I find it clunky now. Solid has.all those features and more so I'm happy.

Solid and Root Explorer are definitely the two best file managers. Personally prefer Root Explorer.

I'll have to check out solid. I'm so used to ES I'll probably resist change

So well, it works or not?
Can I change some tweaks at the build.prop with that patch?

Yeah. Although solid works with root, i only use it for everyday tasks. I still use root explorer for all my root stuff.
