The release of CM10 and higher came with an awesome file manager that I wanted to use on CM9 and non-CyanogenMod ROMs. After some forking, coding and building I was able to get it up and running.
Below you'll find info on how to install and run the CyanogenMod File Manager (CMFM) on any Android device running ICS or higher.
Thanks to jruesga and the CyanogenMod team for releasing this awesome app.
Starting 2013-07 I'm only building the F-Droid branch. The package name of the F-Droid branch is com.cyanogenmod.filemanager.ics. Because of this versions prior to 2013-07 will have a different package.
Latest Build: 1.0.1.5
Sync with upstream
Install Method 1
Download APK from below
Try standard install of an apk
Enjoy
Install Method 2
Download and install F-Droid from fdroid.org
Refresh the repo's
Install the latest CyanogenMod Filemanager back port
Known Issues
NFC may not work right, if at all. I disabled some of the NFC code to get API level 14 compatibility
If you run into a problem with the normal install process please try installing using the F-Droid method mentioned above. Failing that you'll need to copy the apk file to /system/apps using a root file explorer.
APK Download
The current build can be found as an attachment to this post, all builds can be found over on box: https://nuskunetworks.box.com/s/gz4c3hxlinp5umvduv4y
There is also an F-Droid repo at "https://nusku.net/fdroid/" that can be used for installation (see above for instructions).
Sources
https://github.com/mcrosson/android_packages_apps_CMFileManager
Each release starting 2013/06 has a corresponding tag in the git repo. Tags are created when a build is known working and ready for release.
Issues / Tracker
Please post any issues found here or at the github issue tracker here (link). Please don't submit tickets to the CM team as this is an unofficial back port to ICS and non-CM ROMS.

Odd. I've not had a problem on my Rugby Smart. It is a straight port with only fixups for API compatibility.

It is a little slow on AOKP as well. At this point I'm tempted to make a Paranoid-esque ROM .

Good to know. All I've really focused on was porting the current code over with minimal changes. Hopefully over time they will get it to a point where its fast in general. I've not used it much myself, been sticking to ES File Explorer. I did the back port mainly for the CM9 ROM I put together for the Samsung Rugby Smart.

Same here (on a Thunderbolt running Liquid ICS). It takes a rather long time opening any directories with a large number of files/dirs. Sorry, can't define "large" here though. Also, it apparently doesn't cache dir contents either, so once it opens /sdcard and I browse to sub-dirs and then return to /sdcard, it again takes a long time to re-open.
For reference, Astro and Root Explorer don't display the same slowness, so I don't think it's a phone or SD card issue.

I am not sure what is causing the slowness. It could be the number of files in the directory being a problem. I am working on an updated build right now, can you try it out once it goes online?
New build is online, includes the latest from upstream.
Great works

NON THAT I KNOW OF SO PLEASE POST
How to get the Honeycomb music player to function right
make a directory on your sdcard under the subfolder media so it would look like this
/sdcard/media/music
copy all of the music to that folder
then go with the install
if you have problems with the music player after you made the directory try this and it will fix it
terminal
code: export PATH=$PATH:/sdcard/media/music
what that does is tells the environmental variables to look there for resources the : is the shells way of separating the path
I'm at school while I did this so the reason you have to do that is I didn't have the time to update the "update-script" will fix later

Downloading now. Will 4g work properly if I flash another kernel that supports 4g?
1)Go into settings>manage apps>market place updates>click uninstall>close out settings.
2) Go into Titanium Back up>find market updater>click on it>select freeze
Now your themed market should not change again.

you need to tell me how your quadrant is giving you 1500+ htc evo 2.2.. If want to use it i wan to use it completely. what's the trick??
Open your browser and google market place and d/l it and install, then from there d/l titanium backup and see if it picks up your apps from your sd card.

I'm in class right now, but the 1500 + is with stock kernel and 1113 mz on performance for the gov.
I know this is on the RC1 but will try to get it to the RC2 while I'm in class with some more edits too.
Thank you selders59 for the support here on this ROM and Thank you to all that has tried it and the good feed back.
If there is anything you would like to see in the next one please ask and I will try my best to put it in the next version
Thank you all again.
Just yo warn you, including swype is warez and will get you banned. Also the gapps are not open source and cannot be included IN an aosp based rom.
I thought once Swype was included in the OTA update, you could include it?
Maybe, was just a friendly warning in case

Thanks to the efforts of LinuxBozo many of us are able to enjoy CM 7 on our Infuse 4G devices. All credit for this goes to LinuxBozo (and those listed in his post). I simply took the source from his ROM and compiled/uploaded it to make it more accessible. This is all done with permission from LinuxBozo.
I will be uploading newly compiled ROMs from source once a day, but this is NOT to be considered a nightly ROM as it isn't being built by the CM buildbot. The daily compiles of this ROM are not each individually tested, so your mileage may vary.
Each daily build will be archived and available to download.
Download:
List of All Builds:
Code:
http://stevemorrissey.com/android/roms/infuse4g/CM7/
Google Apps: Download Here if you don't want to install the Google Apps from Rom Manager (as per the directions)
Directions for flashing:
If you have a RED CWM :
Ensure you have both root and CWM. If you don't, see below.
Copy ROM .ZIP to SD card
Shut phone off. Hold Vol Up + Vol Down and Power on device
Flash CM7 zip
Reboot. You will get stuck at Samsung screen. This is normal.
Pull battery, and reboot into recovery (Hold: VOL+ VOL- Power)
You should now be in ORANGE -OR- BLUE CWM
Go to "mounts and storage"
select format /system
Reflash CM7 zip (NOTE: don't forget gapps as well, you can get the gapps easily using Rom Manger -> Download ROM -> Scroll down to Google Apps)
Reboot into CM7 goodness, made possible by LinuxBozo
Rooting and installing ClockworkMod
Got root? If not, please see THIS VIDEO or simply download, install, and run SuperOneClick
To get CWM on your device, please see THIS THREAD
Additional Items
If you want the clock (as seen in the screenshot below) install mClock then follow the simple steps in this post

Its 97MB, and its a non-TouchWiz ROM without the Google Apps bundled in, there is no reason for it to be large. TouchWiz/Sense/MotoBlur add a lot of bulk for stock ROMs.
93Mb is about right. Small because there is no unnecessary bloatware.

The issue I had with MIUI was not stability as in crashing, but with signal. My device seemed to constantly lose its data connection in moderate signal areas, and it would take 15-30 seconds to reestablish a connection. I don't experience such issues with this CM rom.

I'll give that a try.
Note that the Infuse 4G is currently my only Android device, but I am getting a Sensation today and a Nexus S shortly. That means that since I'll have a backup Android device I will be able to test the daily builds on my handset first to ensure it works properly (or at least installs properly, I won't test most features out).
I currently have a Blackberry Torch for backup, but since the data packages aren't interoperable I need to call AT&T to have my data plan switched every time my Android device is out of commission due to ROM issues.
Good job and thanks for this. I'd probably link gapps in the OP just so people don't flood the thread with "where is my market?!?!"
This is a cool app to mod the framework on Android.
Adds cool animations and Transparent popups.
It backs up the changed files and created a flash-able zip of the backed up files and the modified files.

This ROM is now built using the latest linaro 4.7.4 toolchain and comes with my modified version of Bricked kernel (thanks showp1984) My kernel source can be found here.
The ROM is compatible with other aosp based kernels, but if they dont have mpdecision or thermald built in you should rename them by removing the -bck at the end of the file name. The 2 files are located in system/bin.
I have also added QuickBoot, this enables you to power the device on/off in 1-2 seconds and puts it into hibernation.
This can be disabled in developer settings.
The following are configurable in the init.d file 99kernel
DoubleTap2Wake
Sweepp2Wake
Sweep2Sleep
Magnetic on/off
Battery voltage mod
These are disabled by default. More options will be added soon.
To edit this file use any good root file explorer. It is system/etc/init.d/99kernel and is pretty self explanatory once you open it.
Make sure permissions are set to rwx r-x r-x after editing.

Todays build is uploading.
Has AOSP kernel support not caf.
Thank you, I had to refrain myself from flashing yesterday's build for this
Has anyone tried using Slimport on this since it uses the AOSP kernel? Not sure if the kernel has anything to do with it, but I can't get it to work on the other CM 11 build that is out....I want to be on CM 11 but had to go back to AOSP because of the Slimport issues
Can anyone tell me how to flash these rom on nexus 4.....as it gives status 7 error amd says that its for flo device not mako

This is for flo, mako is in my other thread, I'll edit the titles of my threads to avoid confusion and put separate folders on my ftp server.

I just don't want all my apps to force close. I find that highly annoying. So should I refrain from flashing?

bruce2728, I remember you from the Sensation forum! Nice to see you here.
I've been looking for a good 4.4 build for the flo, this is working great.

It defaults to Dalvik, so nothing should be broken unless you decide to play with ART.
The fact that this works with aosp kernels is great news, I! Gonna download this tomorrow, cheers bruce

This Rom is incredible. I use it on Flo & Mako, it is perfect, I use custom kernels (Bulletproof on FLo & Hell on Mako) and I have zero issues so far.
Initially I had gapps FC, its easy to fix, Go to settings-apps-all apps- click three dot menu - select "reset app preferences" - no more gapps fc after that
The rom is perfect, Cyanogenmod Goodness+ART+Custom Kernels, what else you want?
thanks for your rom.
Seems like there is an issue with bookmarks sync adapter, causing the gapps process to FC. This is related to ART on all CM11/AOSP roms i've tried so far.
I know that whatsapp was patched to work with ART, does titanium backup works?
Update: nevermind just read Bruce's post, looks like I can now try ART

OmniSwitch is a recent apps switcher created for OmniROM by maxwen, you can read more about it here. Even though the app was developed for OmniROM, it works on all KitKat ROMs. Users of non-KitKat ROMs can take a look at OmniSnitch.
The attached .zip file is to be used with custom recovery and flashes OmniSwitch.apk (extracted from OmniROM) to /system/priv-app, the app needs to be in this location for the kill apps function to work. You can also copy the attached apk to system/priv-app, you will also need to set the permissions to rw-r--r--, do not install it. If you're interested in the source code, you can find it here.
This thread was created with maxwen's permission.
Edit: I have changed both files, from what I saw with the tests I did, both methods work now. Thanks to ultimahwhat for the new apk and to OrglCe for his zip creator.
Let me know if there are any problems.
Edit: If you have any permission problems, it should be fixed after using lucky patcher to remove signature verification on your phone, as always, this is at own risk.

21/05/2014: Update to version 1.1. New feature has been added. Signature differs so you can't use the apk to update the old version.
26/05/2014: Version 1.1 should work correctly now.
Good work, since i'm using vanir aosp definitly my favorite feature.

Does this version allow choosing custom icon packs?

It gives an error although I set the permission right. Failed to gain system permissions

Can you try to flash it with a custom recovery? I was also struggling to get it to work by copying it, I got it working once but don't know what I did different, haven't had any problems when flashing via recovery.

I have tried both ways maybe it's the cm11 rom for the U which is the issue I'm not sure though
Tried flashing it on stock 4.4.2 setup (rooted) on Nexus 5. Keep getting failed to gain permissions errors. Checked root explorer and correct permissions were shown however.
ive flashed the zip, now how do i enable and use it??
I'm also getting the start failed error, I'm trying to figure out how to fix it.
I think I messed up with the signatures/certificates, I'm busy looking for a solution.

In the meantime, found a potential workaround, hope it is a kosher suggestion... Omni switch was included with and working on pac rom, so I just extracted the apk from one of the nightlies and copied it into the appropriate directory, changed permissions. Did not get permissions error after reboot and am able to use it with drag handle. Now if I could just replace the default recents launcher...

Works great on my device, thanks! In my opinion the best feature for multitasking on android, should be built in in any rom
