Wave Secure....I am still getting it free as a beta user, although that was supposed to end when I got a new device, but oh well. I liked it enough I paid the $20 to put it on my wifes phone. Love the ability to backup and track from a PC. And putting in a new SIM card recently, I can attest my "buddy" got the text and my phone was locked. So if it ever gets lost or stolen, I am good unless the person with it knows to boot into recovery and wipe.
seekdroid. awesome awesome app! believe it was .99 on market. you can pinpoint, wipe phone and/or sd, send alarm with message to whoever has it, get google location and lock phone (with new lock code all from pc!
you can also hide the app from your drawer to make it harder to find, plus you cant uninstall it unless you deactivate the pone which is nice. and the best part its made by xda member!
search it
So I downloaded the ICS leak and installed and then promptly rooted it.
I got Google Wallet to download and install(and I know the NFC works because when I had it on, the phone was reading my NFC mini BofA credit card).
What I want is to load my info into Google Wallet and get it working. Anyone figure this out yet?
We need physical secure elements (either a sim card or sd card), that supports this, neither of which we currently have. Once we get these, google wallet will function. Search feature is ur friend bud
The Galaxy Nexus has secure element built into the hardware. For us to get it they'd have to issue new sim cards with the secure element included.
Somehow I'm thinking it would take AT&T forever to do this, if it ever happens. Oh hell, it's not gonna happen...

I'm consider buying a Galaxy Nexus and I wanted to get some info from the community about the process before ordering through the Google Play store.
1. SIM card: My carrier is T-mobile and I know the phone will work on the their network. When I get the GN is it as simple as putting my SIM card in the new phone and then activating the phone via T-mobile's site? Or is there more to the proceess?
2. Selling the G2x: Once I've got the new phone I'll be selling my G2x on craigslist. What should I worry about as far as security goes? Is it enough to do a factory reset and format the SD card? The phone has already been returned to stock ROM and recovery so I don't have CWM on it right now. Also, once the phone is wiped is there any functionality or do you need to be logged in using a gmail address to do anything? The reason I ask is if a potential buyer wants to see the phone running to make sure it's working, etc, I'd like to be able to do that without worrying about logging in.
3. Opinions on the Galaxy Nexus in the long term: if I buy a Nexus I will probably be using it as my daily driver for at least a year and a half. I know Google will be supporting the OS but I'd like opinions on the hardware. I don't game on my phone at all. I mostly use it for productivity and light entertainment: email, messaging, task management, social media, music, podcast listening, stuff like that.
4. Any other thoughts on the process you might like to add.
And thanks in advance for your responses. I don't post here much but I lurk almost every day and the info I've gotten here has always been valuable.

1. Its as simple as just putting your sim card in. That's all you have to do, as I don't think you have to activate the phone as it comes unlocked and is ready for any sim(which the sim itself is already activated)
2. I'd say wipe the internal storage and go back to a stock rom, unroot, and flash a stock recovery, EDIT: I see you've already did. As SD card goes, sell it separately, or for a few more bucks bundled with the phone or just an added, free extra, as the G2x didn't come with one if I remember correctly. Also, I don't think there is a way to skip setup. I mean I guess you could sign in, and then do a factory reset once more, Im not exactly sure on that one.
3. As hardware for what you'll be doing with it, I say the Nexus is perfect for that. And if so, I've seen the Nexus still performs well when playing heavy games.
4. I say the Nexus is one of the best choices you can go for right now. Its a guaranteed phone that will still be up to date in 2 years. I don't have it but right now I'd get it over any other.

Thanks for the reply noah. Had to wait a bit because just as I was deciding to get my Nexus Google took it down temporarily. It's back up now so I'm getting ready to make my purchase.
I do have another question - I have a car charger I use for my G2x. Will that be able to plug into the Galaxy Nexus or are the ports different?

Thanks again. Last couple days I came close to posting the order and fell short of pulling the trigger on the deal. The only lingering doubt I have right now is longevity. The specs on the Nexus 7 blow away the Galaxy, but I don't want a tablet I want a phone. I'm just afraid of laying out the cash for GN and getting something that may get bogged down in less than a year as apps upgrade to meet hardware specs of newer devices.

I doubt it. As the nexus will continue to be updated for another few years, so it'll continue to pull its own weight good enough(Nexus S still got jelly bean). And besides, there's custom roms and stuff too. It'll be a good purchase.

Just got my Phone jacked I have full protection on it from T-Mobile which comes with Lookout Premium, but for some reason even tho I had it installed, I can't access it on Google Maps, from the Lookout website. It's not showing the location, not allowing me to issue commands, anything. So I think I am basically screwed. I didn't have a password on it. Tho some of my files are Encrypted. And I had just cleaned out my Call log and SMS log, so that's a plus.
So does Anyone know of anyway to get this Lookout "Find My Droid" feature working? Or am I just gonna have to suck it up and go pay the deductible to get myself my nexus back before i go through SNWS (sudden Nexus Withdrawal Symptoms)

I just tried to Find My Device from LookOut's webpage. Surprisingly, even though my phone was right next to me, connected to WIFI and LTE, it kept saying locating. I then opened the LookOut app and BAM, my phone was found right then and there. For some reason, it seems that LookOut, even with the "Better Missing Device" option checked in under Device Administrators, closes itself and cannot work properly. I just have the regular free version though.
A suggestion for you though @Silicon Knight would be to log into the LookOut website, then to check previous locations. That should leave a pretty good trail up till the last point. I am also assuming that since you don't have a lock, you won't be able to benefit from receiving a picture when the password is entered wrong a few times.
As @Dragn4rce mentioned, login to Android Device Manager and try to locate your phone that way hoping that your phone hasn't already been wiped. Here are two links I'd suggest you try to report your stolen device at :
https://www.fcc.gov/guides/stolen-and-lost-wireless-devices
http://imeidetective.com/
Use android device manager.

i always install avast anti-theft it's one of the best anti-theft apps it has format protection you can sms command and it locates with gps it doesnt need wifi or 3g to work all other apps needs internet to work.
If you didn't have a password they probably have powered it off already and you are out of luck. They will probably wipe the device and your data and it will get shipped across seas for sale.
u wiped mssges and call log just before the theft? and few files were encrypted. Sounds too fishy to me!

or eBay,
I use cerberus on my nexus, I think you need root but I may be wrong, it has loads of options on it such as:
Remote wipe via text, text your phone to enable 3g, take pictures of failed unlocks and it even hides the app so someone can't delete it.
Its similar to lookout but I like it better and it works well.
If you manage to get your phone back it may be worth looking into it, fingers crossed you do get it back :fingers-crossed:
how did they steal it??
The OP hasn't said a single thing since the 26th wth?

i'm sorry about that
it happened to me too
we re not alone in this world
keep cool
I haven't said anything cause, A.) I usually post on here via my Smartphone. B.) It's the holidays and am staying at my parents until the 2nd, so I keep getting roped into lil family outings lol And I lost the phone at the bank the other day, I had my cousins dog with me, was trying to keep him in check (he's a pitbull pup and very rambunctious, i don't know why i thought that would be a good idea to bring him to the bank) and I set the phone down to fill out a deposit slip and left it there like a fool. I've never lost or had a phone stolen in my life. But I guess it happens to everyone at least once...or at least most people.
I am going down to get a new Nexus 5 tomorrow. Filed a Police Report, did all that I could. In the end someone got a mint condition nexus 5, for the 5 finger discount price of FREE !
and yea, why would it be fishy that I wipe my SMS and Call Logs lol I flash lots of custom roms and I don't ever back SMS/Call Logs, never had a need to, so they get wiped every time i switch to something new, or if I restore a nandroid, then I have old messages and call logs so I wipe them myself.
Anyways, thanks for the advice peeps. Cerberus sounds like the way to go. Lookout is pretty similar but the ability to hide the app itself so it cannot be removed except by the owner, is pretty damn cool, and wins my vote.
Please ignore this post. Replied from phone and didn't emerge last part of thread.

Don't feel bad. I've done FAR worse. I lost my phone at a strip club before. It was in my pocket and I'm guessing the stripper popped it out when she was grinding on my pants. I tracked it, and it showed that it was still in the strip club, so I went back to look inside for it, but I couldn't find it. I'm guessing someone "found" it.
I leave my phone in the car now.

haha, that's funny, that sucks of course, but yea, you know what i mean lol
This is the first Time I've ever lost a phone or had one stolen. I lost my pager once when i was like 14 my mom got me one. I wanted a cellphone but they were hella expensive back then. That's back when my mom was on Voicestream lol The prices they charged for cell service in the 90's made Verizon look like its cheaper then foodstamps haha So she got me a pager from a company (think they may still be around) called "Cook Paging" I had it for like 2 weeks, and somehow on the way home from my GF's house (who was like the only one who ever paged me, besides my mom lol) I lost it.
Why would they force this piece of junk on us?
First, you separate the actual cards and loyalty cards. So now I have to have two apps(Android Pay and Wallet), instead of one(Wallet). I understand Google had to make some changes at banks behest, but this could have been handled in the back end.
Second, if you have a rooted phone, you can't install it while it is rooted. Simone work around, but unneeded when Wallet worked just fine.
Third, why MUST my phone have a lock on it to use Android Pay? Wallet worked just fine with asking me for a PIN when I used it. Totally not needed.
This is a classic example of fixing something that ain't broke. They have made the payment app intolerable for me, and I will be deinstalling Wallet and if possible Android Pay, or minimum disabling it. It is a terrible app at this point, and its restrictions are deal breakers for me, and IMO render the pointless to the point of being total crap.
I can use my credit debit card just like any other normal person.
I agree
Went to use wallet today for a gift cad and didn't like my phone anymore Galaxy S4 with android incompatible. Get real! Maybe gyft is the better app.
