Ok is there still no true root method, system.img or KDZ or recovery for our device? Is there no development? Ive had mine bricked now for a few months and waiting for an update or unbrick method has proven fruitless, can someone pull a system.img or help users with this device somehow? Thanks in advance

I started working on my lg stylo from cricket with no idea what I was doing. All ive really done is allow root, and have supersu with busybox. Other than that I've just been pulling my hair out because of lg bootloader lock. I've found some things about adb straight on the device to bypass bootloader. One thing I have found through my research is a guide with the "factory firmware". I haven't had a chance to try it, but I will post it for those who can try it out.
Also I too have a lot of questions specifically about the lg g stylo. I have h634 (from cricket) and want to work on roms/kernels and remove ALL bloatware. Most importantly, I would like to learn how to set the external sd card as "default" storage.
If you have useful info on the cricket variant of the stylo or know of anything that might help, you can send it my way. Also, I do have much more I have found about the stylo and love to share. Don't be afraid to ask me something. I will do my best to help you, as I too will be learning while trying to help.
If you want the link for the guide, just send me a personal message or simply reply to this post. I apparently can't post outside links until I've made 10 posts on the site. With this being my very first post, I guess I have 9 more to go lol.
Remember to follow instructions carefully and use at your own risk. I have not tried this and cannot vouch for it. Good luck and let me know how it goes.

Hey Mooose-Nuckle. I really need that link for the guide and firmware. If you can pm it to me i would be very thankful.

I bought the .TOT and .dll files from some non-LG site online; files over 1gb give me a lot of trouble to upload to Gdrive or Dropbox, and Mega.nz seems to give problems over time, so I've uploaded and am seeding (along with several others who are getting it from me) a zipped archive containing the .TOT & .dll files for the Cricket H634 LG G Stylo STOCK Firmware! Here's a link and also I've attached the torrent file in case the link dies : https://kat.cr/cricket-lg-g-stylo-h634-firmware-android-5-1-1-t12571867.html
Also I wrote a readme.txt containing instructions for how I did it, with programs too (LG Flash Tool 2014). It took me a while, so be sure to read it!
Peace
torrent download failed
please can anyone upload the files to a download server like MEGA or MEDIAFIRE, most of us cant download files from a torrent. Please help us!!!!. Upload the files to MEGA. DROPBOX or MEDIAFIRE!!!
thanks in advance...

This restores your device to factory. As of now there are no custom roms or custom recovery. To root, you can use Kingroot.
I have downloaded all of the drivers and lg flashtool as well as the .tot and .dll files. Moved everything where it needs to be, but when I enter download mode and connect the phone to my computer it isn't detected. It is detected any other time as in when my phone is booted up normally. Can someone please point me in the right direction. I have tried different drivers.
I've got the cricket LG G Stylo and I've managed to find the OEM Unlock. Has anyone else found it? Isn't that is what's needed to unlock bootloader?

Can some of you guys be kind to explain what KDZ flash exactly is, what is it for and how it works? Thanks.
the kdz file is the gingerbread update from lg but with a .kdz extension. the kdz flasher is just a firmware update utility specific to lg phones.
And how do i put it on my phone without doing risky update? do I need to use KDZ flasher and how?
Many thanks

everything in life is risky. if you're that worried, don't do it. without reading and searching, you'll be staring at a software upgrade screen for days.
... and asking, which is what I am doing.
I am glad if I can explain something to someone and be helpful in things I'm good at. It kinda makes me happy. But I simply do not know if I could download KDZ file to my computer and flash it somehow to the phone directly. And that's why I would like to ask someone to tell me.

did you search the forums? it's being talked about everywhere.
yes, you can download it to your phone and flash it. but i highly recommend you read up on it. if you know about the kdz file, that means you were in a thread which probably had instructions on how to go about this.
yes i did search forums and i know all about pre-kdz flashing procedures (returning to stock, nv-flashing restore, unrooting) but i couldn't find anything telling us how the flashing itself is done.
you flash it but putting your phone into download mode (hold volume up and power button while the phone is off) and connecting to computer via usb (requires a pc with proper drivers for your phone installed or hope windows update can auto do it if not download it) then using the flash tool on your pc, there are guides on how to do it but the ones i have are for my phone which include the kdz for the nitro, so i'm scared to link them you'll brick your phone with the wrong kdz.
Hell yeah two year bump, don't think he needed that anymore :/

Stock Restore
If anyone has any links to how to obtain the files or even just a binary dump from a phone that has the stock software, can they please post some links? I'll gladly attempt what I can from a clean device I have access to.
I've found a possible way to be able to dd over the main memory from download mode... but I have no idea how to get a full image so I can try it.
Also, I've got an LS996 that won't boot so I'm in need of these files too .
Seriously though... those files come from SOMEWHERE...

Try to get ahold of wolfgart. He usually can get the tots but he might charge like 30 bucks. I will have this phone on saturday and I will do a full system dump for everyone and upload it.
Progress!
Wonderful! I'll send a message to Wolfgart later tonight. I've got LOTS of reasons to want the stock files for repair so this is kind of a big deal for me.
Hope to see that system dump soon

Hey guys, I've been lurking XDA for years now and you guys have always been a big help to me. I'm a technician with a major wireless carrier and I just got a hold of the .tot and .dll for the Flex 2 (LS996 ;-]). Anyway, I'll upload them when I can as Im attempting to reflash my Flex 2 after a month long soft brick and this is about a 3gb file. Preferably, if anyof you guys are in Jersey, I'll bring you a physical copy and let you do all of the heavy lifting. Let me know, I'll return to the site within 24 hours.
Many thanks
If you supply these files, you'll probably become the most thanked person in this phones discussion...
I am downloading the files right now. I will re upload them and share with everyone.
ok so i lied
I'll try to get the file uploaded tonight. Basically I need you guys to help me help you :good:
My initial issue began when i tried to optimize this poor excuse for an LG device (haven't lost all hope) and I edited the build prop, got stuck in an LG splash screen boot loop.
Just tried to flash the .tot I have with the 2014 Flash tool.... everything went through or so I thought, now the device will not go past the MINI OS screen, not even an option to reboot just the equalizer esque bars and the words 'mini os' on a black screen.
Anyway, I've included a screenshot. I'll work on sending the files up to my google drive and posting to XDA.

That was me posting in the wrong forum, asking what I can imagine sounds like the height of stupidity. To be clear, this is a replacement phone because I (quite stupidly) grabbed the root img for the PR or whatever in the att dev thread... And got a soft brick. This time, I turn on phone, it updates to g immediately.
In Lg phone connection app on Windows 10, it is saying that another update is available, so I'm hoping...
Btw I do know adb pretty well and can offer up a clean stock H81010g img pretty easily, if it'd help and maybe someone can help me.
It's the only phone I want, and to find myself unable to root robs me of 90% of my work and paid for apps.

No, I was not able to extract contents of the dz file. Someone could try to add the header info to that LG kdz python program on github maybe? A while back that used to be simple to accomplish.

Thank you sir, see if you can try to pull the recovery.img. The firmware didnt seem to include one. I may try and download an older firmware and see if i can recover it from there instead. If everyone can help with this search, it could prove important.
Recovery is included in boot_a, boot_b in system A/B phones which the LG G7 has. It is included there so phone can update without needing a reboot.

While you are correct that recovery is in boot, it is not needed for the A/B updates. The only rational reason they stuck recovery in boot is to make our lives difficult. Also, not all A/B phones ditched the recovery partition, just the majority of phones with Qualcomm processors that use their reference abl.
FYI - the much easier way will be to incorporate TWRP into laf ... or just forgo download mode completely, and use the laf partition.
Lastly, now that I can decompile abl -- stay tuned for ablsploit (to be used in conjunction with lafsploit). I am not saying with certainty that it is possible yet, but I am feeling confident.
Oh, one last thing for real this time -- don't think about cross flashing ANY model G7. I have downloaded all available KDZs for each model, and LG got smart and they all have different RSA certs.

I kept hitting security key issues, possibly due to my limited usage of adb and fastboot. My phone had already updated so I don't see the download anywhere, I guess to the A/B partition setup.

Does anyone know how to change the certificates between firmwares?
Are you in a situation and need to restore a TWRP backup and for whatever the reason(s) don't have one available? Then if you have a Stylo 2 Plus this may be for you!
PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE OP!!
This is a TWRP Backup of @pvsgh rom from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/st...m-k55020a-stock-rooted-odex-t-mobile-t3616000 Please don't forget to thank him on his thread! This is in no way a plan for me to rack up more thanks on xda. I'm only trying to help others who may have not made a backup or may be in some sort of situation and maybe can't set down and crank up fastboot and adb or don't yet know how to do some things or are like me and just lazy and want to hurry up. I saw a post like this way back on a past device I owned and it helped me. I hope it helps you too!
**Directions:
Just download the file and unzip and transfer to your TWRP Backup folder and restore the backup. This is the same exact rooted rom I linked from above. I did this backup on my T-Mobile LGK550 (carrier unlocked) that uses METRO PCS. Works fine on metro pcs.

I have a TMobile Stylo 2 Pius and I unlocked it and I use it on metro PCS and that's what I did this backup on. I would "think" the answer to your question is yes but please use at your own risk and PLEASE report back here if you do use it. It's just system, data, boot of the rom linked in the op.

Ps: Tag me like this: @SM210 next time for faster response. I wasn't aware you had commented or would have replied much sooner. Sorry .

Did you unzip once you downloaded it to your phone? Because i zipped it up to upload.
After that place it in twrp folder where your backups are usually located. I can post pics. Give me a minute. Let me know if unzipping was the issue because I believe it was.

Very glad you figured it out. I did a manual ota last night on my new Moto g6 phone and my laptops in the shop. I kept thinking, "oh **** what if the files not all the way downloaded and it tries to update anyway and soft bricks." ? I was lucky. It updated fine.
I'll put a md5 checksum up in a few in the op so we know if we downloaded the entire file or if it didn't. My bad I should have done that anyway.. Good day to all. ?
Does anyone know how I can unlock carrier on LG Stylo 2 plus through t mobile
Can I use it for a LG Aristo 2 Plus from Tmobile
I have a Lg Aristo 2 Plus from Tmobile, they sent it to me as a gift to Venezuela but they did not unlock it and it does not leave me unless I try Tmobile. I contacted them and they said that if I did not have the Tmobile account details they could not do anything.
