Stock Restore
If anyone has any links to how to obtain the files or even just a binary dump from a phone that has the stock software, can they please post some links? I'll gladly attempt what I can from a clean device I have access to.
I've found a possible way to be able to dd over the main memory from download mode... but I have no idea how to get a full image so I can try it.
Also, I've got an LS996 that won't boot so I'm in need of these files too .
Seriously though... those files come from SOMEWHERE...

Try to get ahold of wolfgart. He usually can get the tots but he might charge like 30 bucks. I will have this phone on saturday and I will do a full system dump for everyone and upload it.

Progress!
Wonderful! I'll send a message to Wolfgart later tonight. I've got LOTS of reasons to want the stock files for repair so this is kind of a big deal for me.
Hope to see that system dump soon

Don't send him money. I have already paid for them and will upload them for everyone when get them.

I have both files
Hey guys, I've been lurking XDA for years now and you guys have always been a big help to me. I'm a technician with a major wireless carrier and I just got a hold of the .tot and .dll for the Flex 2 (LS996 ;-]). Anyway, I'll upload them when I can as Im attempting to reflash my Flex 2 after a month long soft brick and this is about a 3gb file. Preferably, if anyof you guys are in Jersey, I'll bring you a physical copy and let you do all of the heavy lifting. Let me know, I'll return to the site within 24 hours.

Many thanks
If you supply these files, you'll probably become the most thanked person in this phones discussion...

I am downloading the files right now. I will re upload them and share with everyone.

ok so i lied
I'll try to get the file uploaded tonight. Basically I need you guys to help me help you :good:
My initial issue began when i tried to optimize this poor excuse for an LG device (haven't lost all hope) and I edited the build prop, got stuck in an LG splash screen boot loop.
Just tried to flash the .tot I have with the 2014 Flash tool.... everything went through or so I thought, now the device will not go past the MINI OS screen, not even an option to reboot just the equalizer esque bars and the words 'mini os' on a black screen.
Anyway, I've included a screenshot. I'll work on sending the files up to my google drive and posting to XDA.

I'd like to post the links but u know 10 post limit or whatever. In any event, I hope you all can do more with these than I have been able to. All I really want is a stable experience on this device and to get it unbricked. Hopefully this will jump start some development. Anyway, thanks for the years of help. Figure I'd give back this time around. Good luck, I look forward to the progress.

[ROM][ODIN] I497UCBMF2 AT&T 4.1.2 Firmware (Rooted)

I497UCBMF2 AT&T 4.1.2 Firmware (Rooted)
For some unusual reason there is little to no development for the SGH-I497 and absolutely ZERO official firmware available for the AT&T model. This means, if you soft brick the tablet trying to install something you should not have, you have no easy way of getting back to the stock firmware. In addition, getting to the 4.1.2 version of the AT&T firmware is a royal pain due to the massive amount of "PATCH CHECKS" and assert checks built in to the OTA update. This means any deodexed system or a number of other reasons will be rejected if you try the OTA update while on non-official or approved firmware. So, for your convenience, I have compiled a simple ODIN-Flashable TAR file which will jet you up to speed installing the latest official AT&T 4.1.2 firmware.
Details:
I497UCBMF2 Stock w/ Root Pre-Installed (NO MODEM INCLUDED AS I DON'T HAVE THIS. IF YOU HAVE STOCK 4.1.2 INSTALLED WITH THE MF2 MODEM, PLEASE SEND ME THE MODEM AND I'LL ADD IT TO THE ODIN PACKAGE)
Package Includes: SBL2, SBL3, ABOOT, RPM, TZ, BOOT, RECOVERY, SYSTEM AND CACHE ZONES
Download:
I497UCBMF2 AT&T 4.1.2 Firmware (Rooted)
Password on the archive is: www.mobiletechvideos.com
How To Flash:
BACKUP YOUR FILES AND DATA BEFORE FLASHING...ALWAYS. First extract this file using WinRAR or a program capable of extracting a RAR package as the package inside it is the TAR file you need. This was done to save time on the download. Once extracted, using ODIN, select PDA and choose this file. Now place your tablet in DOWNLOAD MODE by having it powered off, then power on by holding POWER and VOLUME DOWN until you see the on-screen text come up. Release the buttons and press VOLUME UP to enter DOWNLOAD MODE. Now click START on ODIN. Once completed (takes around 10 minutes), it is advised to enter RECOVERY MODE and perform a FACTORY DATA RESET for the best bug free experience since I don't know what ROM you are flashing from.
Did this help you out? Great, I'm glad it did! Click that THANKS button next to my name if you have the time. Please note, if you find yourself in a hard/soft brick situation of any type on any advice, give me a shout via PM or email through the contact page on our site.
RESERVED...
If you have downloaded and flashed, please report back your results...
17 Downloads and no reports?
Not work,pls fix it,my screenshot
Stuck on download mode
Try to flash it again. I tested it a few times and it's been downloaded over 30 times with no negative reports. If it is still problematic for you, I'll upload a cache free version...
Mine is still pretty clean, which block do you need.
Do you have MF2 stock modem?
What are peoples experiences with this? Did they lose their modem?
You won't lose your modem, it just doesn't include the MF2 modem as I can't locate one is all. Also, there have been 66 downloads and no reports so I imagine all is well. I strongly believe the person above with poor English did something incorrect when installing due to that many downloads with no ill reports. I do wish someone would just flash and report afterwards though!
I just received this response from user "dobermanchik"...
"Hi,
I cannot post into the developers board so I am reduced to using this private message system. I'd like to thank you for that firmware. It works great for me and I have no issues so far. I was able to unlock additional languages and overall the system is stable and bugless. Thanks again."
ill give it flash and let you know
cr*p i just soft bricked my tablet by trying to change the font hope this works will report back after i flash.

ATT Samsung SGH 1497 Tablet unlock bootloader
Hi,
I appreciate your work on this device. You have noticed like me that little is out there for this device. You have provided some nice workarounds to update this tablet, however, I cannot find anywhere, a way to unlock to boot loader. I have carrier unlock from ATT, and cannot seem to fins a way to root this tablet.
You seem to have already accomplished this and I wanted to ask for your help to unlock my Samsung SGH 1497 ATT Tablet.
If you could help, I will rave about you on XDA!
Thanks for any help you can provide.

[GUIDE] How to Root T-Mobile KitKat

Hi everyone. After scouring the forums here for hours, multiple failed attempts, and tons of misery; I've finally successfully rooted my T-Mobile G2 on 4.4.2.
As many are finding, people who have bought their G2 recently are having colorful lines whenever you try to turn on your screen when on KitKat Roms. This method fixes that (with this ROM only).
This is for people who are currently running the latest firmware (D80120A_00). I assume it'll also work with newer updates, but I can't make any promises.
---
As we've all seen, IORoot does not work on 4.4.2 on Tmobile devices for some reason. To get around that, we need to downgrade our devices to stock firmware. We will be following hyelton's guide, and lrwjr1964's discovery.
--Downgrade to 4.2.2--
First, navigate to hyelton's guide. Download the 4.2.2 stock firmware, from his link. On his Storage Cow site, navigate to the TMobile G2 folder, and then download the D80120C_00.kdz file. This is our stock firmware that we will be flashing to our device. You will also need to navigate to the link to the R&D Flash tool. The file is the LGMOBILEAX file. Install the LG Mobile Support tool. Launch the tool.
Next, we will be using lrwjr1964's discovery (post 2902 in the same thread). Plug in your phone, install any drivers needed, and let it get connected. Once you're all good to go, click 'options' in the top right hand corner, and then 'upgrade recovery'. What this will do, is download the latest D80120A_00.kdz file, and install it to your phone. How the program works, is it downloads the file to your computer, then transfers the file and flashes it. What we are going to do, is interrupt that process, insert our .kdz, and let it flash for us. Pretty nifty, huh?
You'll want to watch it super closely as it downloads. As soon as it finishes, yank the usb out of your phone. (I've done this twice without consequence. I don't make any guarantees, though.) This interrupts the file transfer, and throws you an error screen. Navigate to the folder "C:\ProgramData\LGMOBILEAX' . ProgramData is a hidden folder, so you'll need to make hidden folders visible. Rename your D80120C file exactly to what the file name of the other file is. Then, copy it over. Once it's finished, replug in your phone, let it connect, and let it resume the process. When it finishes, your phone will be running 4.2.2. How sweet is that?
--Root 4.2.2--
Now, this should work just as you're used to if you've done this before. Autoprime explains how to do this really well, so take a look at his thread here
--Install TWRP--
Again, if you've done this before, you're right at home. If not, WACOMalt has a thread you should check out here Make sure you download the correct .img for your phone. The Tmobile one. There's many different methods of flashing TWRP, but using the app Flashify worked easiest for me. It's on the Google Play store, and makes flashing it a cinch.
--Install KitKat and Re-Root--
This is one step you want to be careful with. Mess this one up, and you could be back at page one. SmiLey497 has the stock rom here. Ensure you not only snag the rom itself but get the SU file in the 'attached files' section.
Copy both files onto your phone, and boot to TWRP. You can do this easily from within the Flashify app.
Within TWRP, you need to do a standard wipe. After that, flash the ROM file first, and then the SU file after. DO NOT reboot your phone in between the files. If you do, you'll have just flashed the rom you had two hours ago when you began, and still not have SU. Once you do have them both flashed, reboot your phone and you're done.
--Celebration--
Congrats!! Your phone should now be running 4.4.2, and you should have root access. Go have some fun. Watch some Community, go for a jog, take a nap, eat dinner...do something FUN! You've earned it.
-----
I hope this guide is helpful. It very possibly could not work for you, or even mess up your phone. As far as I know, only myself and lrwjr1964 has used this method. I have very limited developing knowledge, so I likely won't be able to help with any too technical problems. Still, I'll be around to help as I can.
If this works for you, comment to let others know.
The best of luck!

Exactly what I was looking for! I ended up on the G2 when my wife decided she didn't like it and I was waiting on the M8 to switch us from VZW to T-Mobile. She put it on KK in the few days she had it. I've always had HTCs and know my way around them quite well. This will go a long ways towards helping do the same on LG.

I hope it works out for you. I was looking at the M8 myself, but decided to go for the G2 last week. The battery combined with the cost was more than enough to sway me. I was surprised at how rough it was to root myself, coming from an HTC sensation and having rooted a Samsung Note 10.1 2014.
Let us know when you go for it, and how it goes for you.

I'm loving the G2 so far. It was my back-up choice in case there was something I really didn't like about the M8 so I'm not exactly suffering here. My ultimate goal is to get on an AOSP ROM so I really just need to get back to JB so that I can get root and recovery.

Damn, that's a bummer! I'm assuming that it's failing while flashing the .kdz, right?
Sorry I can't be of much help on this one. Only thing I could suggest is to try it again. Maybe something went wrong? Make sure you've got the correct files and everything. You probably already know all of that, though.
I hope it works for you the second time around...or at least, the IORoot gets updated to work with our devices soon.
Yeah something has changed since my flash to stock kitkat. When I attempt to boot into recovery it isn't there (that's why ioroot25 won't work) but anyways. I think for one reason or another I am stuck...But that being said I work 12 hour night shifts and its my last night off with nothing to do.. So will attempt this again in a few different scenarios.
Hello guys, for rooting back from 4.4.2 to 4.2.2 on a Tmobile d801, do you use the d80110c_00 kdz or the d80110g_00 kdz ? I am not sure what the differences are either.

To avoid issues, you must use the D80110C .kdz. Users reported screen artifacts (lines) when using D80110G.

I may be wrong, but I don't think that the screen artifacts are caused by the D80110G. Using the same process, I went to the 80110C and tried flashing various roms afterwards. I got the artifacts on every other rom, except for the KK stock rom I used above.
From what I've seen and read from other users with the artifacts, they appear only on KK roms, with certain TMobile G2s. It seems that all phones that came with 80110G or 80110A preinstalled have issues.
Of course...I could be completely mistaken. That's just what I've noticed.
Give it time, root will happen for KitKat on T-Mobile.
I hope so, I spent all day yesterday trying until I just gave up. Guess its the waiting game for me.
For anyone having trouble downgrading using the KDZ method, just use the TOT method instead. It works perfect.

Can you please direct me toward a tutorial that has the TOT method? I tried to find one online but was not able to. I have a D801. The KDZ method doesn't work for me.
I've tried your method, replaced the file it was loaded onto phone and the phone is now stock in boot load. It displays T-mobile icon and keeps resetting itself.
The biggest issue I have had in this whole downgrade, root, twrp, flash, is loosing twrp. I have tried multiple ways, but every single time I upgrade to 4.4.2 I lose custom recovery.
I even flashed twrp 2.7.0.0 over 2.3.6.2, but I have had no luck.
I have yet to try Flashify, but that will be my next move. I am Loki'd out lol

The problem I think I am having, is in the Flashing TWRP guide, the t-mobile version, even though it states ver 2.6.3.3, its actually 2.6.3.2. I can not get TWRP to stick for the life of me.

I've tried your method, replaced the file it was loaded onto phone and the phone is now stock in boot load. It displays T-mobile icon and keeps resetting itself.

hold the power button down until the screen goes blank, then press and hold the power and volume rocker down. when the LG logo appears release both buttons and quickly press and hold both power and volume rocker down. This will allow a factory (hard reset) and will get you out of the boot loop.

I've tried your method but it doesn't work. Thanks for suggestion though. I had to put the phone in download mode (volume button down and then plug the usb), then I used LGLauncher.exe to recover it. I have tried the method described by OP twice. Both times I ended up with t-mobile logo played in the infinite loop.
I've renamed t-mobile USA D80110C_00.kdz to D80120A_00.kdz and overwritten the file. In the original instructions it says D80120C_00.kdz file but I believe OP meant D80110C_00.kdz as D80120C_00.kdz is not available at the posted link.

its sort of tricky due to the weird button placement, but that method works, 100%. May have to do it multiple times. I only know this, because I have returned to stock on this device about 25 times trying to get TWRP and root to stick when upgrading to KitKat. lol

So I've looked on the related thread post 2901 (not 2902 as it says in OP), the reset is required. I've tried your method to reset and also one mentioned here but the phone continues to stay in the boot loop. This LG G2 is a PITA to get rooted.
Never mind. You are right. I've tried again your method and it worked. Performing reset now...

I started working on my lg stylo from cricket with no idea what I was doing. All ive really done is allow root, and have supersu with busybox. Other than that I've just been pulling my hair out because of lg bootloader lock. I've found some things about adb straight on the device to bypass bootloader. One thing I have found through my research is a guide with the "factory firmware". I haven't had a chance to try it, but I will post it for those who can try it out.
Also I too have a lot of questions specifically about the lg g stylo. I have h634 (from cricket) and want to work on roms/kernels and remove ALL bloatware. Most importantly, I would like to learn how to set the external sd card as "default" storage.
If you have useful info on the cricket variant of the stylo or know of anything that might help, you can send it my way. Also, I do have much more I have found about the stylo and love to share. Don't be afraid to ask me something. I will do my best to help you, as I too will be learning while trying to help.
If you want the link for the guide, just send me a personal message or simply reply to this post. I apparently can't post outside links until I've made 10 posts on the site. With this being my very first post, I guess I have 9 more to go lol.
Remember to follow instructions carefully and use at your own risk. I have not tried this and cannot vouch for it. Good luck and let me know how it goes.

I bought the .TOT and .dll files from some non-LG site online; files over 1gb give me a lot of trouble to upload to Gdrive or Dropbox, and Mega.nz seems to give problems over time, so I've uploaded and am seeding (along with several others who are getting it from me) a zipped archive containing the .TOT & .dll files for the Cricket H634 LG G Stylo STOCK Firmware! Here's a link and also I've attached the torrent file in case the link dies : https://kat.cr/cricket-lg-g-stylo-h634-firmware-android-5-1-1-t12571867.html
Also I wrote a readme.txt containing instructions for how I did it, with programs too (LG Flash Tool 2014). It took me a while, so be sure to read it!
Peace
torrent download failed
please can anyone upload the files to a download server like MEGA or MEDIAFIRE, most of us cant download files from a torrent. Please help us!!!!. Upload the files to MEGA. DROPBOX or MEDIAFIRE!!!
thanks in advance...
Ok, so this will be the TOT and dll, you will need to install lgflashtool to flash it. Be glad, I had to hunt for hours for these. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B9AUqOIj9fgTSDlLNDJHcUlINjg . Enjoy ladies and gents. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B9AUqOIj9fgTVmZHb0s0YjJTTFE lgflashtool 2014

This restores your device to factory. As of now there are no custom roms or custom recovery. To root, you can use Kingroot.
I have downloaded all of the drivers and lg flashtool as well as the .tot and .dll files. Moved everything where it needs to be, but when I enter download mode and connect the phone to my computer it isn't detected. It is detected any other time as in when my phone is booted up normally. Can someone please point me in the right direction. I have tried different drivers.
I've got the cricket LG G Stylo and I've managed to find the OEM Unlock. Has anyone else found it? Isn't that is what's needed to unlock bootloader?

This was just pulled from LG Bridge as it updated my device.
No, I was not able to extract contents of the dz file. Someone could try to add the header info to that LG kdz python program on github maybe? A while back that used to be simple to accomplish.
Guys here is the boot_a/b for the firmware you posted here. Thanks goes out to @runningnak3d who made updates to @emdroidle's work. (KDZ extractor: Here)Amazing work guys. boot_a/b
Update: Currently trying to upload the system_a/b folders already unpacked. Ill post the link as soon as its finished

Thank you sir, see if you can try to pull the recovery.img. The firmware didnt seem to include one. I may try and download an older firmware and see if i can recover it from there instead. If everyone can help with this search, it could prove important.
Recovery is included in boot_a, boot_b in system A/B phones which the LG G7 has. It is included there so phone can update without needing a reboot.

While you are correct that recovery is in boot, it is not needed for the A/B updates. The only rational reason they stuck recovery in boot is to make our lives difficult. Also, not all A/B phones ditched the recovery partition, just the majority of phones with Qualcomm processors that use their reference abl.
FYI - the much easier way will be to incorporate TWRP into laf ... or just forgo download mode completely, and use the laf partition.
Lastly, now that I can decompile abl -- stay tuned for ablsploit (to be used in conjunction with lafsploit). I am not saying with certainty that it is possible yet, but I am feeling confident.
Oh, one last thing for real this time -- don't think about cross flashing ANY model G7. I have downloaded all available KDZs for each model, and LG got smart and they all have different RSA certs.

I kept hitting security key issues, possibly due to my limited usage of adb and fastboot. My phone had already updated so I don't see the download anywhere, I guess to the A/B partition setup.

Successfully Flashed BNTV450 Stock Rom on BNTV460 Nook 7 (2018) Tablet

Greetings my tech peoples.
Just wanted to let everybody know I successfully flashed a BNTV450 Stock Rom on a BNTV460 Tablet. As I said in a previous post, I bricked the little guy trying to get root (it got stuck in a bootloop after I patched Magisk to the boot-sign img and then flashed it) so I thought, why not be creative and see what you can do with the little guy.
Now there are problems. A **** ton of problems. It isn't what I would call functional. Screen keeps going Red on the borders and flickering. Start thing crashed. But I can get in and finagle to developer options and such. Flashboot and ADB still working though. Keep in mind I flashed with SP Tool via scatter file.
But hey - it can be done!!!!
Also, just for note, I've also been able to flash a boot img of the 450 over an installation of the 460 stock rom - did that unlocking the device. Honestly, that caused less problems but I wasn't able to get root. Also, it naturally erased my unlocking but fret not, I've unlocked the thing 3 times in the 12 hours I've had it.
This is my first nook device, and my first timed dealing with new android, Oreo. But I just wanted to give the hope out there.
Hopefully better news in the coming days.
You wouldn't want to share your scatter file and your stock firmware would you? Trying to recover a 450 that won't boot past Nook screen. I cannot unlock it because the volume key does not respond. I have been able to flash 1.02, 2.04, and 2.05 boot and recovery images from ipdev's thread with no change. Also got a 1.02 system.img from him but that did not seem to fix it either. I do not have adb access at this moment either so cannot logcat.

No prob dude.
If spflash tool is working, but you have not a correct scatter file. You can use "Wwr_MTK tool" to read back the whole emmc and read partition table from preloader, the tool will make scatter file and full image copies of the firmware partition by partition
I did this, but now I can't log into the B&N account, and if I try to open nook settings, it asks me to log in, and again, it doesn't let me...
