Well, I wouldn't be in as deep of a trouble if this were my phone... But I suggested the Mini to my GF.
Anyway, she was using headset earlier today and after she removed the headset, the phone is stuck in headset mode. Meaning no voice coming thru the phone's earpiece on both incoming and outgoing calls. She tried the headset again and voice is coming thru headset without problem, but once removed, it's still stuck. How do I get the phone out of headset mode please???? Anyone has similar problem before??? Please help!!!

hey hi ,
There are many ways of fixing this -
1)softreset
2)turn bluetooth off! if you are talking about bluetooth headset
3)where it says enable bluetooth headset on today screen - disable it
These might help you!

AMD
The socket has probably jammed internally, try insert pull out a few times making sure you pull sharply when removing, if this fails try inserting something slightly smaller and jiggling it about. I have also used a tiny squirt of WD40 which is like an easing oil for rusted or obstinate nuts/bolts/screws, also you can buy a spray called switchgear which is used for electronic components such as volume sliders/switches etc when they become sticky and operate intermittently. This is a well known problem on the xda 2.
Thanks guys, it's not BT and this is after many soft-reset I'll give WD-40 a shot. Thanks again!
I've got exactly the same problem here. My phone is bonded to a BT headset. Forgot to bring the headset and found that no sound, or extremely small volume, was coming out from the phone. Tried soft reset, deleting the bond etc. none of it works.
Would be interested in knowing what's the real underlying cause if anyone finds it out.
Hey Solitary, I'm in HK as well and I think it's a hardward rather than software issue. Coz. if I pull the headset, the normal clicking sounds can be heard from the phone, just not during voice calls, I think the earphone on the phone is somehow dead, looks to me like cold soldering
I'm calling O2 in the morning and demand an exchange, my GF only had this phone since 1/9 and besides this, on the unit we have, the voice quailty is also bad too
Hi, CL55,
You might want to read this:
http://www.coolsmartphone.com/index.php?option=articles&task=viewarticle&artid=58&Itemid=3
It seems it is an old and common problem for smartphones.
I've also read in a Taiwan forum that they have got exactly the same problem in Taiwan for the Dopod818.
But I wonder if it is hardware related. My problem is that I'm stuck in a BT headset mode, and I'd never touched the hardware headset socket. So either I have a different problem than yours or else it seems it's more likely a software problem.
Anyway, do tell us if you manage to solve it.
Can you confirm if you can hear the clicking sound from the buildin speaker now? Only no voice from the earphone, or no clicking sound from the buildin speaker as well? I really suspect I have a different problem
Yes I can hear all other sounds from the speaker loud and clear, except for talking over the phone.
So it seems I've got a BT software (or my BT phone hardware) problem but you've got a Mini hardware problem.
I was listening to some music through my headphones on my jam and I got a call, so i pulled the headphones out of the jack. Once i did that no sound would come out of the speakers, not even after many soft resets. I could still hear sound when i put my headphones back in, but nothing when i took them out. Then i tried making a call and pulling the headphones out of the jack while in the call and that fixed it. It must put the hardware in some bad state if you pull headphones out when there's a call?
i had this problem to but i've fixed it! hard resets doesn't seem to work so i pulled the battery out for a night and my speaker was working again try it!
I am hoping somebody would help solve my problem. I have a Calypso SP bluetooth headphone. My phone shows it's connected to the device but the sound from music player still come out from the main speaker. When i got the sound to the headphone, there's this crackling sound coming out. I have tried pairing and unpairing the device a few times, but the results are still the same. It doesn't have any problem when paired with my galaxy s.
same problem here i would also like to know if there is a fix.
What ROM are you using?
IGNORE - misread your question, sorry. Many people experience poor A2DP audio quality on the Sensation. Some headsets seem to sound okay, others don't, even though they may be fine when used with other devices. Search and you'll find some info in various threads. More recent ROMs have solved or reduced the problem for some people.
Just a quick check, are you paired to your device for both phone and media audio?
To check, if you're using Gingerbread, go into Bluetooth Settings (settings/wireless and networks), then press and hold on the device you are connected to and select 'options' in the menu that pops up. This will take you to another menu where you can check which features you are connected to. Sometimes mine only connects to 'phone audio' on my headset and I have to re-enable media audio.
Thanks for the reply. My phone is on stock firmware. This problem only happened recently. Before this i never encounter this problem. I found another problem where the volume control doesn't work when I'm using bluetooth. The same problem also occurs when i use the original earphone where the volume control detects bluetooth device even when it's not paired. I tried resetting my phone earlier and the problem is still there. Maybe i'll take it to the service center and have it fixed.
Fixed, with some sacrifice..
After fiddling around the whole night, i tried to do the restore factory setting from the recovery mode. Somehow it fixed the problem. So it might be some software or an app bug that caused the problem. Now to do a some serious apps downloading and setup.
Just been testing the new SBH80 headset with the Z1C for a couple of days. Overall it's a nice bit of kit, lightweight and comfortable. The aptX support on the Z1C gives fantastic quality sound, the buds allow a good seal and isolate ambient noise well. The cable is very thin - not sure how long it will last, tbh - and the earphones are tiny, you hardly know they're in your ears. Connecting and pairing are super easy using NFC with the Z1C, and BT reception is good if not as strong as some others, like the MW600.
Otherwise I noted a few things if anyone's thinking of using them with the Z1 Compact:
- Each time the Walkman app is brought to the foreground while playing music, there is crackling and intereference for about 3-4 seconds. Seems to be related to the Throw option kicking in - setting to manual doesn't help.
- Notifications for text messages don't make the headset vibrate, as advertised; incoming calls do. There seems no way to control this behaviour in any case - no app like with SBH50, for instance.
- The manual states that battery level for the headset can be checked under Power Management > Accessories. No such option exists on the Z1C ... yet?
- aptX can't be disabled for increased battery life as with other Sony headsets.
The neck unit is bulkier than I expected, and the battery rating of 8 hours is less than it could have been given the size - the Jaybird Bluebuds X manage the same with all the electronics squeezed into just the earphones. Still, it's a decent performer and has a premium quality so worth a look I reckon.

If I may add my 5 cents here, I have been using mine with my Nexus 5 for about a month now and it works great. Sadly there is no Apt-X with the Nexus 5 but other than that it works well.
I found the back of the device (which goes behind your neck) to be comfortable enough to the point that sometimes I will check the back of my neck to see if it is still there as you get used to it very quickly.
Sadly as ghtop put it there is no vibration for any type of notification other than incoming calls (not even sound on the earphones for that matter which is a little annoying when listening to music since I'd like to know I am getting an SMS or something) and I haven't been able to find any way to see the battery level for the device in the phone.
I definitely recommend it though this is my first Bluetooth headset ever so I can't compare to other models in the same category.
Also on funny fact: It is stated in many websites that the device is splash proof however I cannot find any IP rating anywhere in the manual and it even says that you should not expose the device to humidity or water in the manual so I don't know where those sites got that information.
Just to add a little upate: with the new Smart Connect version - 5.6.24.215 - a persistent notification when connected to the device shows the headset battery level and time remaining (including standby time), and also shows on the device info page in the Smart Connect app. Still no Power Management > Accessories tab on KitKat though.
The sound quaity really blows other BT devices out of the water
Sound interrupts...
Got the headset 3 day ago. Sound quality is good although I'm experiencing sound gaps every 2 minutes for about a second or less. It is annoying . Firstly I thought that it could be connected with the headset itself but I tried it with another cells and the gap never appeared. Now I think that it is connected with the Smartconnect app or Throw function... I turned of the the smartconnect and now testing it. Will report on result...

I had the same problem yesterday while running, and it didn't occur before using the smartconnect apk (I hade it frozed), so I suppose your guess could be right. I will also try to disable it on todays run and see if it works properly again. In the mean time, give us your input. Cheers.

Hello "maniaacos", mainly I bought this headset for sports purpose and, until now, I am quit satisfied. I find them very comfortable to run or for cycling, they are very light (although not as light as advertised, if I recall it, they have around 10 g more than advertised), I find they fit in the ear properly (in a one hour run I occasionally have to readjust them, but it's definitely not a deal breaker for me), the remote controls are very practical, and you can easily take them of the ear and let them hanged on your neck/chest. Finally, until now, I had no sweat problems with them, but, considering it as only past a week since I received them, I will have to wait a little longer to have a more accurate insight about this. Feel free to ask me more details.
No result
Unfortunately my tests with frozen liveconnect app and throw function turned off failed. I still experience music interruptions. Moreover if I stream music through other devices and my z1 compact is connected to the headset via multipoint interruptions appear as well. Now I think it can be connected with the bluetooth driver itself as it was reworked to support LE (low energy protocol). Hopefully we will find the solution. I sent a query to sony support. Will get back when they respond.

Hello, like you, at this time, I didn't come to any conclusion. So, I am still trying to understand why some times I experience those symptoms and why they are not present in other ocasions. :-/ Let's stay in contact in order to try figure this out...
Hello "AseDance", have you been using the headset with the Wi-Fi on? If so, try to turn it of and see if the music interruptions continue. In my last two runs, I turned of the wi-fi and everything worked ok. It's maybe just a coincidence, tomorrow I will try it again with the wi-fi on. Note that, in my office, with a strong wi-fi connection everything works like a charm, because of that, I suspect that while running outdoor, maybe when the phone tries to connect with diferent wireless points it messes up the Bluetooth connection... :-/

Infortunately Wi-Fi doesn't play any role in music hiccups. I usually turn off WI-Fi when I go out the office but interriptions are still there...

They asked me about the app that use for music streaming. I usually use poweramp. Now I'm trying built-in walkman player. Looks like that was the reason. Anyway I will wait for the support to respond...

Hummm, I don't think the problem is only due to the music player used, because, in my z ultra I use exclusively the sony walkman player. So, as you say, we will have to wait from some kind of support answer. Cheers.

Yep. You were right. I tried it with walkman and hiccups appeared as well. Less but still. This dives me crazy. I have to use Sony headset with my old Blackberry instead of my SONY Z1 compact.:crying:

So, what you are saying is that when using the headset with other devices than your Z1, everything works like a charm, correct? I still am trying to make sense of this, because it doens't always happen, for example, yesterday in the beginning of my workout I had that annoying issue, then, I killed all apks that I had running on the phone and from that moment on everything was ok... Another coincindence?!? Maybe...

I freezed all the bloatware, installed running app cleaner and guess what? It almost helped. The key word is ALMOST. Anyway It's better than nothing. Sony support asked me to reset the headset (put it on a charge, then press and hold the phone button till it vibrates). I did it but will test it a little later as I'm in office now. You can try. Maybe the problem was with the very first connection. I personally believe that it's all about the radio and it's firmware. I found a forum were a man indicates the same problem with z1. His says that it started with the 4.3 update. As soon as he downgrades to 4.2 everything is OK. You can find it in the comments:

Hello again! What do you mean by "...then press and hold the phone button till it vibrates", is it possible that what you wanted to say was "then press and hold the headset power button till it vibrates"? :-/ Then again, how do we reset the headset? Unpairing it from the phone? Tell me how it went for you... Here, in Portugal, after contacting the service center, they simply told me to send the headset to a service center, very helpfull! he he he Cheers.

From the online User Guide:
Resetting the headset
Reset the headset if it behaves unexpectedly. Resetting the headset removes all information about paired devices.
To reset the headset:
1. Turn off the headset, then connect the charger so that the headset starts to charge.
2. Press and hold down [phone button on the headset] until the headset vibrates briefly.

I get it, I think my brain stopped working for a few seconds! Of course the headset has a "call" button, somehow, I was just thinking about the button on the "neck band". Cheers!
