Wifi slow. Help!? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My phone cnnection has been going really slow when on wifi. My router has really good speeds almost up to 100mbps. On my mac it goes super fast but not on my phone. I did a speed test on the app and got like 70mbps but it still goes slow when i switch to 4g it runs fine and fast Can anybody help me or know the issue

70mbs is not slow. I don't really understand what the issue is here. Your phone is slow or your internet is?

rooted=slow 3g

I get terrible 3g speeds of .16 when rooted. Sometimes it won't even load. So I unrooted and get 2m down. Rooted again just to be sure and get terrible 3g, what's the deal?
i rooted last night night, and im getting no faster than 500kb and my upload is dialupish.
i rooted previously and this wasn't an issue. I'm in Houston
im going to try again tonight but affraid of the outcome. mine was slower then dialup while rooted. does not make a lot of sense to me. i ran the speed test ap, then usb usb from phone to computer for internet and the speeds were still bougs .01-.05 something crazy. couldnt browse it was like loading pages with dial up and im in amazing 3g area always good service and dont mater what time of the day so its not network exhaustion.
After u root do a factory reset let me know if this works under SD and phone storage

i switched over to evrc-b in my programming menu and ive noticed 4g seems to come in more clear/in areas i usually didnt get it. plus clearer call quality.
i assume it does the same for 3g singla strength

Wifi speeds decreasing after 5-10 mins?

I've noticed this since I got the phone the other day. I'm connected to wifi and for the first couple of minutes my wifi speeds are what they should be which are around 15-18mbps. Then after about 5 or 6 minutes maybe a little more the download speeds decrease to around .80mbps. Upload speeds remain the same.
Can others test this out.
Connect to wifi
Then run a speedtest via the speedtest app which is available in the market
Then put your phone down for several minutes
Then run another test and see what you get
Doesn't always happen right away but more frequently when the wifi connection is being used. HTC definitely has some bugs with the Sensation. Hopefully they'll be addressed sooner rather than later.
Using T-Mobile USA by the way.
Did you already try this fix? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1118017
I haven't had the problem you speak of.

Yup, problem still there. I called T-Mobile and they said they are working on an update to address the latency/radio issues. Hopefully that will resolve it.
Have the problem. I think either an.app we have installed is doing it or we have to wait on a fix.

Mine can't even hang on to wifi for that long, lol
Thank god I don't use wifi much.
I'm in this boat as well. After a while my wifi slows down greatly, restarting the wifi connection being the only method of restoring it to it's proper bandwidth.
On the note of the Slow data latency fix, I'm pretty sure that that menu in its entirety, as well as the ciphering option, only apply to the network data connection, and not wifi.
Edit: Addendum:
It seems to me to be correlated loosely with wifi-calling use.
It certainly isn't instant, but I've been testing it off and on and it seems that if I turn wifi calling off and then restart my wifi the gradual slowdown doesn't occur, but if I turn wifi calling on, then it does.
I heard unchecking the using mobile data speeds up wifi as well. And are you guys using the best wifi performance option as well?
Maybe its a certain app you guys are using. Mine stays at a constant 30mb/s down and 10mb/s up whether I'm on WIFI for 10 minutes or 10 hours.

I disabled WiFi calling and the problem seems to have been stopped. So far so good. It was dropping to 2Mbs and after disabling WiFi calling my speeds jumped back up to 17Mbs.
I talked with T-Mobile tech support about it, and since my phone was recently purchased they gave me another Sensation. The issue is no longer present, all the same apps, all the same settings, same network.

[Q] Wifi speed issue?

Using my wifi on my phone, and testing it on Speedtest.net Mobile (ookla), I get around 1mb/sec download. However when I test it via internet app, from speakeasy.net/speedtest I get around 19-22mb/sec. Then I tested it on my computer, got around 19-22mb/sec also. So is the application by ookla faulty?... I don't really know how fast the wifi connection my sensation is getting . I'm such a noob.
Got 15mbps on my Sensation using wifi. Got full internet speed that I pay for. Yay.

[Q] Experiencing super slow data speeds on g2x - Any known fixes?

So I have this g2x and besides a few other problems, the internet doesn't seem to be working. Trying to browse the internet feels like its using speeds of less than 2G, as it took like 10 minutes to load phonedog.com. When I connect to WiFi it works like a charm. Additionally, I flashed the Weapon g2x ROM/ CWM in an attempt to fix the problem; still, internet is super slow.
Do you guys have any ideas as to why this is happening or how to fix it? If you need anymore information to help me I'll be glad to provide it.
Have you gone over your monthly data cap? You could be throttled.

sounds like you are being throttled by t-mobile. Call CC and see what they have to say.

Who else has bad 4g speeds?

I live in a good 4g coverage area, and still sometimes I notice it being really slow. I'll run the speedtest app, and I'll get speeds of 1Mbps or slower. When I power cycle the phone, and re-run the test, it jumps to 9Mbps. And turning airplane mode on and off does not have the same affect.
Is this happening to anyone else? I'm also looking to see if this does happen to others, if they are also having SD card issues, to see if maybe there's a connection.

Having the same problem everywhere on all connections. I have had multiple replacements from VZW but no luck. WiFi is even slow at home which is a 20mbps connection. Should have stuck with my rezound.

Well that's not very reassuring...have you tried any different ROMs or radios?
I only get 10-12 tops. I used to get 40 when i had my TBolt but I guess with a lot more people on the network. It would happen

I'm on AOKP JB Unofficial Buld 1. Best I've got is 25 Mbps Down 17 up. Haven't tried on any other kernel or ROM
I, thankfully, knock on wood, haven't experienced any slow 4G speeds. But oddly my signal bars never jump above 2. Even in areas that are fully 4G supported areas. It occurred in New York City as well which was odd as heck. The download speeds though are like that of someone with better signal strength.
For those who wish to know I am using Cyanogen Mod 10.

My last speed test was 39mbit down 6mbit up. This is in Yuba City, State CA.
I'm running CM10, Aug 29 build and KT747 kernel.

My speeds are horrible i downloaded the phone info apk to go back to 3g where it's by far faster. Not sure if it's the phone or the tower being overloaded. Some guys i work with have fast connections where other guys are like me and it crawls, all using different phones. I'm on stock rooted.

Just tested it out again, 17mbit up and 2.87 down...its faster in both up/down than the wifi network i connect to near by.
For those of you having bad 4g speeds, I would suggest trying out different modems. When I was on the release modem, i was getting about 5mb/s, after upgrading to the 'OTA' modem I jumped up to 15mb/s. Not the best speeds, but a definite improvement.
