Using Link2SD, the ~187GB card is partitioned for my use as follows:
182GB Data
5GB Link2SD
I have done a few tests with A1 SD Bench and it's reporting ~40/20MBytes sequential read/write.
I'm using Link2SD on a root access phone, thus the SDcard and Internal flash are around the other way.
Using a Win10 PC I benchmarked the card at 90/20MB/sec read/write
There may be a ceiling of ~40MB read/write to the SDIO interface on an Xperia Z1 Compact.
Update - Been using the card in an Xperia Z1 Compact for over two weeks now without any problems.
interesting, i thought the z1c had a limit of 64gb?

True, the Xperia Z1 Compact (Z1C) specification document states the device supports microSD™ card, up to 64 GB (SDXC supported).
Xperia X10: 32GB cards (384MB RAM) [Tested and used 64GB SanDisk Ultra card for many years without problems]
Xperia C1905: 32GB cards (1GB RAM) [Tested and used 64GB Sandisk Extreme card for many years without problems]
Xperia Z1 Comapct: 64GB cards (2GB RAM) [Tested and used 200GB Sandisk Ultra card for some weeks without problems]
Xperia Z3 Comapct: 128GB cards (2GB RAM)
Xperia Z5 Compact: 200GB cards (2GB RAM)
Without looking into it in to much detail, the Z1C did start life with Android 4.3 and in a time before the SanDisk 200GB was released.
It is quite possible that Android 5.1 assists in better management of external SD cards
I have not read anything to say this is the case though.
Also Sony is probably testing the most widely available SDXC card of a given size available at the time.
In the past there was always concerns that the indexing of the card could become corrupt due to limited resources to maintain a card with a 'small' cluster size.
So I tend to treat the officially recommended SDXC card size more like the Pirates code and just think of it as a guideline. ☠
@Dr Goodvibes: Strange.. that 200gb card working in Z1 Compact. will this work without any problems like card getting crashed or death of the card, so can i use this sandisk 200gb SDXC in my z1c.???

Nothing strange about it.
3 months later and still working fine.
Currently used 46GB with 132GB free.
Also has a 5GB partition for applications/data.
Only issue I could think of is if all your files are very small and you have a data card header file that becomes to big to be managed in Z1C memory.
But if you're storing music files and or etc, that probably won't be a problem.
SanDisk 200GB is dirt cheap now.

I also have this card in my Z1C (used 128GB variant before) and it works without any problem. The only thing I can complain about is it's lower speed compared to the 128GB version (I didn't do any benchmarks, but you just feel it e.g. when loading and saving photos etc.).
If you need the space you can use it (it's only 180GB anyway), but I would recommend using the 128GB variant.

SanDisk 200GB at ~$80.00USD is going to be hard to overlook for an extra 50GB of data when using a 256GB card AND if you went with something like the SanDisk 256GB Extreme, you may find the card IO is better than the Xperia Z1C can use.
My testing showed approx 40MB/sec IO using an Xperia Z1C and that's restricted by the phone.
Approx 5 months on and the SanDisk 200GB card is still working fine and probably one of the best cost to data size option for the Xperia Z1C.
Will probably test a PNY Elite-X 128GB card in a month or so, just to see if I can get 40MB/sec read/write instead of the 40/20MB/sec read/write of the SanDisk 200GB.
With a couple of NAS, centralised storage and OpenVPN , I really have no use for such large data storage on a phone, but can see music buffs going bonkers over anything above 200GB.

is limit made by Samsung?
SDXC is a new SD technology, so it isn't supported by most products atm.
Brief History of SD cards.
We went from SD (max 2GB) to SDHC (max 32GB which is what GS supports) to SDXC (Don't know the max).
Also, those cards are normal sized, not microSD (GS only takes MicroSD). I don't know if microSDXC cards exist yet (probably I guess).
Also, I don't know whether it's possible to support SDXC through firmware updates, or if it requires a hardware upgrade (to the microSD slot).
Hope that helps bud.
but i just wonder can Samsung Galaxy S support 64 gb SDXC?
Most smartphones don't use SD Cards, but rather use MicroSD cards so to answer your question no.

Currently the max size for a MicroSD card is 32GBs at a class 2 speed. You can get 16GB MicroSD cards in class 2, 4, or 6 speeds.
Hope this helps.

You are talking of the Kingston card.
Even though it is a class 10 don't take it for granted that it will be faster than a class 6.
Not all cards conform to their class ratings.
As an example ~ I was going to purchase a 16GB class 6 (I have the same card in my HD2), however, I found that the Sandisk Ultra II 16GB which is a class 4 was actually much , much faster.
I purchased the Ultra II and am happy to say it does indeed perform much better than the class 6 which I temporary removed from the HD2 to test.
Tests were carried out on both PC file transfer Read/Write using a USB card reader and in the Galaxy S for record/playback of video content.
I was pretty certain that sandisk's 32gb class 2 microsd card was the only 32gb microsd card available, but i found this

There are 64MB microSD cards hitting the market about now. Not sure if SGS will be able to use them.

not yet, the highest is 32GB microSDHC
after that barrier they becomes 64GB microSDXC
there are already standard 64GB SDXC cards, that means the micro version is just around the corner.
usually it's a 6 month lapse from the moment the normal size SD comes out, to when the micro version gets released
now all that aside, i've a 32MB microSD, but never seen one for 64MB
it came as a demo disk for one of my devices

Nah, they don't make them that small.
saw a post once cant remember where, but it had a sandisk 2TB yes that is correct 2TB micro sd, im pretty sure its not available, but i gave me hope that one day i mite be able to fit the entire contents of my laptop drive (500GB) and my external (1.5TB) drives on something smaller than my thumbnail.
of course it will be available, in the next 10 years
technology advances are steady.
most of the time the tech is already availble, just not for the public, as they have to develop cheap way to MASS produce those things.

Are these for real Class 4 ?
3C Pro 32GB 32G microSD
TOPRAM 32GB 32G microSD
Hi,
after having lots of lag issues with class 10 cards and data2sd or data2whatever, I found out that what's most important for a card is random write speeds.
Even though they can sustain really high sequential write speeds (more than 10MB/s), class 10 cards have really bad random write. Unfortunately, I didn't test the random write speeds on the 2 class 10 cards I bought (and returned...). From what I've seen on the web, these speeds can be as low as 8KB/s at 4Kb block size
What I can tell you is that my old 4gb class2 sandisk random write speed is about 30KB/s at 4Kb block size. This card was a LOT better than the class 10 cards I tried, in terms of lag.
I bought a Sandisk 8GB Mobile Ultra, class 4, and I'm really happy with it. The random write speed is 1.7MB/s at 4kb block size (almost 57x faster than my old card).
So, my conclusion is: If you want to use scripts like data2sd or data2whatever, go for cards with high random write speeds instead of class.
Well, so i am happy i bought same card you now have. but still some apps seems a bit laggy even with the ultra card.
install sd tools from market then see how fast they really r
I also have a sandisk mobile ultra 8gb class4...price 19,90€ from mediaworld.
It's a fine card capable of write and read small files in very very short times
8GB class 6 Sandisk mobile ultra - I'm affraid there's no class 10 card to compare with this one

We already have dual core phones, why not dual micro-SD card slot phones as well?
I mean both that are user-accessible.
And imagine being able to RAID Stripe 0 both of them!
16/32gb on-board memory + 32x2 RAID Stripe 0 micro-SD memory!
What would we do with all that memory? I'm sure we could find things to do with it!
not necessary
There are phones with dual memory card slots. Obviously, they are rebranded dumbphones, and, cannot support stuff you are looking for, but, all I am saying, the concept exists.
We don't need it
Well, those of us who watch HD movies on their phones do need that much storage. On my Galaxy S II I have 16Gb internal and 16GB sdcard.Still,it's barely enough.Sometimes it gets full.
Yes,the concept is available, but high-end smartphones, the most space-hungry phone species out there, don't support it yet.I for one vote yes on this one.
Oh,and Raid-0 for flash memories isn't going to do much, they function way differently than hard-disks.I don't know if it's possible at all.It would be convenient to be able to manage all of your storage together though and not as two seperate cards like on Galaxy phones.
I just don't see why we need two card slots. I mean the only things I can think of that would let someone burn through internal memories and SD cards is movies which I'm not sure honestly why you'd want that on your phone.
This concept does seems tempting at first but honestly i dont ever think any other major company such as Apple or Samsung, ect. will come out with this. Besides, i give it a couple of years before the way smartphones, tablets and even computers start using a differnt technology for higher capacity in memory and disk space. DRAM used on PC's, and NAND flash memory such as on smartphone, all differ in sequencial speeds. So in short.. its not worth having dual sd slots..although i have seen phones with dual SIM card support (Nokia for that part) and also recent rumors about the iPhone 5 or iPhone 4S.."whatever it is that their going to call it", the Apple smartphone (iPhone5) is expected to be a world phone, equipped with a baseband chip for both GSM and CDMA networks, said FBR Capital Markets analysts.
Overall if you prefer a tablet or smartphone with a huge amount of memory, why not just buy a 32gb Sandisk micro sdcard + tag along the 16gb internal local memory and you have a whooping 48 gb total of storage. If your a movie lover just stream your movies dont actually download them.

I dont think is needed and it will take more extra space, I mean, most fone has a easy access to the micro-sd slot anyway.
There could be other solutions, instead of having two memory card slots I would like my phone to have 32 GB or 64 GB of internal memory. I think in the upcoming years it would be implemented. And add a 32 GB micro sd card to that and you will have almost a 100 GB of memory on your phone
Now time to go back to the past!

Not really needed, because about 95% of people don't carry more than 16 GBs of data or so on their phones.
Also, with microSD cards now reaching 128 GBs soon, there's really no need for another slot

yeah, but raid striping/mirroring would be nice. So if you had some super confidential stuff you always wanted with you but encrypted and redundant you would be set. I think its a cool idea.
internal storage plus two cards for data that could be encrypted and mirrored.
I dont think that you need all that storage
Great idea!
It's not so much about the size (although 32GB more are always welcome!).
It's more about having a second memory, which can also be used as a backup.
Imagine the same concept on PCs: why would someone buy a second 500GB HDD and not replace his original with a 1TB one?

I have the same card also. My readings are very strange with SD Tools. I can run it and get as low as 4MB/s read and 18MB/s write. When I run the test again immediately it can go as high as 9.7MB/s read and 36MB/s write. I can keep doing it over and over and every time is a different reading. I've tried to do this after rebooting, I've tried it on different roms (AOSP and Sense) and still the same thing. I've tried SD Booster and it didn't help much either.
so it seems that the results of this app maybe not reliable, or there is another something that affect on the results.
Anyway it does not appear to benefit from this test.
thnx very much
Can't you people see that it does not matter which class you have. Because Dhd can't write faster than 5–9 mbs even if you have class 10.
So put whichever you like to use you will get the same speed. I have both a class 2 and a class 10 and I get theI same result.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA Premium App
I'm really suspicious, I wonder if it's reliable, cause I got results that was better the first time.
I don't know if it's reliable or not, but I did 3 tests on my DHD, AR 6.3.1 mod, quite a few apps installed, half-full SD card a KINGMAX 16GB Class 6 which i bought 2 days ago. My previous card was a SAMSUNG 8GB Class 2 (the one that came with the phone).
What's interesting to note is that, after doing the first test I thought to myself "hey, why not overclock the cpu from 1.1GHz to 1.6GHz?" and so the second test went better than expected. Then I went from 1.6GHz to 1.2GHz and I got slightly better results than the 1.1GHz. See for yourself:
1.1:
1.6:
1.2:
Coincidence much? Or working as intended?
Notes: Both cards are SDHC. OC has been done with Daemon Controller. 1.1=1152000. 1.2=122880. 1.6=1612800.
Even without over clocking you will get a different result every time u run the test, even if u do it back to back. I think the test is full of **** and shouldn't be relied on.

Sd tools?
I'm extremely dubious about the results obtained from SD tools. I recently bought a 16GB, class 10 Samsung card and got to testing it. I got almost identical results for the 16GB card as I did for the 8GB, class 2 card that came with phone, but I did notice a difference in the time each card took to complete the test so I timed them.
8GB Class class 2: write 87 seconds, read 27seconds.
16GB Class 10: write 51 seconds, read 7 seconds.
So going by time took the class 10 is a lot faster but not according to the figures from SD tool results. Maybe someone else could try and post their results. I know this is off topic but if SDtools doesn't give accurate results none of these posts are any good.

Go for Sandisk Extreme, I guess is a good choice. And yes, all android phones with API level 28 (android 9) supposed to support it. I have this one in my phone, is not A2 but I love it.

Sandisk has a long guarantee, with the extreme micro sds i guess 10 years. And yes, i had a defect micro sd from sandisk (could not be written on it nor delete files. I had to send them an individual card number (very small with laser written?? and a piccture of the destroyed card (murdered it with sissors) and i got a new one. Very good service. i think the extreme variant ist the fastest. If you consider the long guarantee, i think the higher price will result in higher profit

The SanDisk Ultra offers 10years and Extreme has got lifetime warranty!
You are pefectly right... What could be better than a lifelong guarantee??
Jup. SanDisk do have some pretty nice warrant. I've also replaced 2 broken cards. 128gb and 64gb back in the days.
They actually shipped back 2 different packages... They were huge for such a small card ^^
But Samsung isn't bad either.
Speed mostly isn't limited by the Card but by the reader of the smartphone or the software.
A1 SD card bench. Read 41 Write 17
SD card Test:
Write: 17

Thanks for the info. Did also test the speed in crDroid 7.12 (A11) on Poco X3 Pro 8/256 GB with the same App.
Internal Memory:
487 MB/S Write 1348 MB/s Read
Removable SD (in my case SanDisk Ultra 256 GB Class10 U1) exfat:
30 MB/S Write 74 MB/s Read
I measured the speed on the version with a 732 processor (the card readers in the devices are the same). I could not get more than 90/50 megabytes for reading / writing from a sandisk extreme card. I came to the conclusion that installing cards on this platform better than the mass Ultra Sandisk or Samsung Evo is a waste of money.

Indeed happy with the speed of Internal Memory and with the 8/256 GB version there is a lot.
I think UFS 3.1 256 GB in this price class is top value (paired with good CPU).
SD should be used as backup drive and for storage of files not opened often, like Music, Movies, etc.
@AIIIOT what app is that?
Looks pretty useful.

You're telling the truth. But, I answered the question about the memory card. There is no point in wasting money on the expensive one. The device is not the fastest card reader.
