Lets keep up the pressure and all the good work from the dedicated Android community. #UnleashTheSnapdragon
I am including in this post, a separate bounty for a confirmed root method.
The Bounty can be paid in Bitcoin to protect identities of those wishing to remain anonymous.
Otherwise, a donate button will be set up to route payments directly to the developer's paypal account.
Estimated Current Bounty for Bootloader:
Model G935T - $1230
Universal - $2265
Bounty for
Persistent Root - $675

Cool, count me in for $50 using paypal for as long as I have the phone.

I'll give $20 through PayPal if I get mine unlocked. I have the AT&T version though, not t-mobile

This thread, and bounty, is for the G935T, But a universal solution for all s7 phones would be perferable

$50 USD from me please.

But if it supports tmobile, would it support sprint phones as well?

Count me in for $30 via paypal

I am not sure. Lets just hope they collect the universal bounty

If it includes the S7 930T then I'm in for $50

$50

$50

Lets make sure we all disable security and firmware, software update services for our phones to make it easier for the dev. If everyone has different versions due to updates it will be hard for them. I froze mine with samsung package disabler.

$50 here too.

I just sold mine, but if we can get just a root on the Edge.... I'll buy another one.... I'm in for $50....

$50 here. Been dying for an AOSP ROM since the S6 came out.

$50 here too

2772.00 Bounty thread for lg-v20 devices with locked bootloaders

As of Dec 02 2016 theres is a total of 2772.00 bounty in effect
Open source for the variants are located here
Verizon
https://www.dropbox.com/s/vlkhh5drrud50ye/VS995_NOS_Android.zip?dl=0
Sprint

Verizon, Att, and Sprint users with a locked bootloader have decided to put a bounty for the following:
Working root for the Lg V20 devices with locked bootloaders
As a plus a working recovery would be nice as well
Sometimes on a device there are methods, procedures required that go above the nromal developers or end users scope of capabilities
The lg V20 us variants besides the t mobile one is one of those devices.
Us users are requesting that established developers help with this and as a way of saying thanks and as tokens of appreciation have decided to reward the developer/developers monetarily
We are using the pledge method as directed by a moderator to be the most effective way to go
Please do not clutter this thread with non related questions or comments
The guidlines are as follows:
Developer and/or developers collecting the bounty:
-you may ask a pledger or pledgers to be testers
-must show working proof
-provide detailed step by step instructions on how to flash/get method to work
-need at least one person in thread besides what ever testers you may have used verify its operational
-provide the op with paypal email or where funds need to go.
-if this is a combined effort please handle the dispursements between yourselves or pm me with the way you want the pledge funds allocated
Pledgors:
-if you are selected as a tester do not share the work you are testing unless advised by the developer you are testing for
-do not ask for a eta
-do not pledge more than you are willing to pay
-if you pledge pay what you are pledging
@moderators is there any way to enforce this?
-DO NOT BE RUDE OR PUSHY IN THIS THREAD---I WILL ASK THAT YOU BE REMOVED FROM THE THREAD
100 dollars
30 dollars. Also willing to test.
50$ spot
$50
Count me in for $30
Edit: sprint variant
FYI those putting offers up: Pick either bootloader unlock (very unlikely) or root (quite likely). Bootloader unlock means you'll be fully rooted via TWRP within seconds. I already have TWRP ready for every variant - once one has it, they all have it. A bootloader unlock is worth MUCH MORE than a root, and is a permanent solution.
I wasn't sure if this qualified as clutter or not, but:
I'd like to make sure people understand that I will not be involved in any process to attempt to unlock or root the locked bootloader variants of the V20.
I do not participate in devices with locked bootloaders. (so please don't ask me, as many are and I find it frustrating)
That said, I am happy to bring TWRP to your devices if someone can figure out how to crack the signature verification of aboot in order to allow booting custom boot images.
I'd also like to make note to any developers interested in the task of getting selinux to permissive:
There's a lot going on at https://github.com/timwr/CVE-2016-5195/issues/9 and you may want to read through. A few methods have been discussed and succeeded, although this device doesn't qualify for many if any of them so far.
I'll put in $10 and volunteer to be a tester as long as I don't end up with a brick. ☺
Edit: sprint varient here.
I'm in for a $20 for the sprint variant
Sent from my LG-LS997 using XDA-Developers mobile app
$20 for a method that works on the sprint variant.
$20 on the sprint variant
$100.00 for root (Verizon) or $50 for working hotspot/Foxfi
$100.00 donation paid to @me2151
It's not much but I got a 20 spot for the Att variant.

Hopefully folks will stick to their word if nothing else. It's so worth it to me and I may end up sending more if I can swing it by then.
$30 for Sprint variant
$20 for AT&T.
80 for vzw vareint, still have not taken any ota's. Can not unfortunately be a tester.
$50 for working bootloader unlock for AT&T variant.
Edit: I feel like there needs to be some kind of way to enforce bounty payments..
$100 VZW / $50 FoxFi/Wifi Tether
$100 VZW / $50 FoxFi/Wifi Tether
So far there is 730.00 in bounties. I will throw in 40.00 for Verizon BL unlock and root. Making the total 770.00. Maybe this is something @Chainfire could do, but I am not sure.
$50.00 for ATT

How to root LG x charge

I have the LG X Charge that I got from Comcast on August 8. I wanted to root it but can find nothing on how to root it. I looked but found nothing that tells how to root it. I tried flashing SuperSu but couldn't find a custom recovery for this phone. While searching, I did find that this phone was released in Europe a few months ago where it's called X Power 2. Under settings / about phone / phone name it says LG-M322. Also under settings / about phone / software info it says the version of Android it's running is 7.0.
When I got the phone, I was surprised to see it wasn't loaded with crapware. Right now I mainly want to root it so I can do something about the restrictions placed on using the sd card.
Does anyone know if someone has found out how to root this phone? Is there a version of twrp or some other custom bootloader for it?
Thanks
I have been searching all over for root on the x charge and honestly I can't find one. This phone is pretty new and will take some time for a developer to take notice. As this phone is only available on Xfinity and one other company not many people use I would say it could take some time.
Has anyone tried this to unlock the bootloader? http://www.simnetworkunlockpin.com/unlock-bootloader-apk-code-generator/ wondering if it will work for our device. It says LG is supported but I have never heard of it before. If we can get the bootloader unlocked we could then worry about twrp and root would be easy after that.
Xfinity just started offering this phone for $1 (and you own it) for their free verizon talk/text plans. Its hit the 'hot deals' sites and people are ordering by the thousands...so I think its going to be pretty popular and available quite soon.
The other phones (galaxies and iphones) are being given $200 discounts as well.

xfinitity also does trades but i haven't tried them yet. probably offer pennies through some 3rd party ))). i just bought x charge. not sure where $1 shows up, unless it's spread out into 24 months/$0.04. taxes and fees $2.26 (monthly?). still not bad for unlimited talk txt + 100mb data. i'm not familiar with this phone. would be interested in unlocking bl and root. would be amazing if possible. not sure if there's a limit. would like another one for a clock.

You're right. My mistake. About the dispute whether the phone is $180 or $1. The $1 price is a special that runs out in September. At least that's what I found at xfinity.com/mobile
It really pisses me off that the companies that sell the phones have this idea that we are too stupid to be allowed to do what we want with our phones. We shouldn't have to fight with rooting our phones. But lots of things should be but aren't. Politicians should always be honest. Relative humidity should never be over 20%. Daytime highs in summer should never be over 80. You get the idea.

It's a very good phone i'm surprised it seems faster than my e4 with same sd425, but $180+tx is too much. We should demand bl unlock code. By force. It's the only way. verizon/moto and xm/lg.
Sorry to say. It's a dollar. They are out of stock. Just ordered 3 more for a dollar. After taxes I think it's 3 and you own phone outright

But you get billed for 3 lines right away? Can't just keep them unactivated indefinitely? I ordered 2, refused one. XM says i have 2 lines. I won't get billed if they receive one. If i could keep this phone for $1 and never activate i'd get 3.
Thought I'd switch data off activate them and not be billed for anything but activation fees. And use Sims in note 5 and 2 note 4 . See if everthing works. And then sell each for 100. I was surprised to see it available this morning maybe and got impulsive thinking I had 30 days to cancel or keep it to my benefit. Maybe I'll cancel 2 and play around with one for myself. I have a note 4 with verizon and unlimited plan. But paying 230 after 25% employee discount and if I can get it down to under 150 would be great. Thanks for the heads up

@davekaz, even if you are not using mobile data, you will be charged (for each account) for taxes, FCC charges and other sh... stuff. For example, AT&T charges $8.24 extra per account (see list below):
Surcharges and Other Fees
3. Administrative Fee 0.76
4. Federal Universal Service Charge 2.45
5. Regulatory Cost Recovery Charge 1.25
Total Surcharges and Other Fees 4.46
Government Fees and Taxes
6. 9-1-1 Service Fee 1.00
7. MA State Sales Tax - Telecom 2.78
Total Government Fees and Taxes 3.78
So, be prepared to get billed $33/month for the four accounts And you can't sell these phones now, you should stay 24 month with 'em (read your contract properly!).
P.S. I've also bought one extra line (with free LG X charge - BTW, very good phone!) and I know how to recoup extra $8/month
After you've cancelled serviceWe're all about being fair. When you cancel your XFINITY Mobile service, you only pay for the data you've used between your last paid account statement and the date you cancelled. If you have more than one phone line, we'll charge you for the data you used on each line and reimburse you the difference based on your cancellation date.If you still owe a balance on your Device Payment Plan and you've cancelled service, you can either pay it off all at once or make the remaining monthly payments until the phone is all yours.

Verizon bootloader

Now that today is the official release of the pixel 2 and instead of speculations is it confirmed that bootloader can't be unlocked on Verizon edition phones?
Here's the thing..... Unless you're credit is HORRIFIC.... Google store should approve you to finance through them....so what's the point of getting it through Verizon only to be locked?

It's not Google store that does the financing. It's a third party and they do a credit check, set you up with an account, and then send you all kinds of offers and credit limits. No thanks. I'd rather just do the monthly from Verizon if you don't care about bootloader. If you want to unlock the bl then you have no choice. Either pay outright or finance from a credit agency.

First.... Symantics. Second, too get that Verizon account you had to go through a credit check and you think Verizon isn't selling your information? Or hasn't already?
It's 6 of 1, half dozen of the other. The monthly finance payment is the same. I did the device payment through Verizon because Best buy offered me $100 gift card and depixel 8 was out to unlock the Verizon bootloader. Otherwise it would have been Google store all the way.
Your statement is just an expansion of every minute detail but bottom line is the same. Synchrony bank vs Verizon financing. Still the same monthly phone payment. If you need to compartmentalize it to justify one way or another doesn't really change the reality

Well naturally if you don't already have a Verizon account then it would be ridiculous to set one up just to buy this phone. I didn't think we were talking about that but the fact of opening another credit account when one already exists. The discussion though it really about bootloaders. If you have a Verizon account (let's just assume most reading this do) then if you don't need to root the device why not go through Verizon? I'm just not seeing the reason to open another credit account with a limit of 3k, which I believe is the default of Synchrony.
Whether or not any company sells your information is well beyond the scope of this discussion and a debate I'm not willing to get into. But I would like to know if a Verizon model bought from Google is able to be bl unlocked. I haven't seen the definitive answer yet but I'm sure it's coming very soon.
i just got my google pixel 2 XL in the mail. i took out the verizon sim card that was already in there and put in my tmobile sim. i turned on the phone and skipped past all the prompts to get to the home screen. i then went to developer options to see if oem unlock is greyed out and it is. i did a factory reset with tmobile sim in just for good measure but it's still greyed out.

Wasn't the Pixel in the same position and anything Verizon related whether the store or fr Verizon the same?
My money is it will be locked. Why would Verizon go through he trouble for exclusive especially a color if it could be bought elsewhere without the same restrictions?

If you have a Verizon account (let's just assume most reading this do) then if you don't need to root the device why not go through Verizon? I'm just not seeing the reason to open another credit account with a limit of 3k, which I believe is the default of Synchrony.
Whether or not any company sells your information is well beyond the scope of this discussion and a debate I'm not willing to get into. But I would like to know if a Verizon model bought from Google is able to be bl unlocked. I haven't seen the definitive answer yet but I'm sure it's coming very soon.

I hear you... But my point remains the same. 99.9% chance Verizon model gets locked. No reason to believe pixel 2 will be different than the original in that regard. So..... For ZERO difference in price or payment you get an unlocked bootloader or a locked one. jcase has been saying for years.... If you want an unlocked phone... Buy an unlocked phone. He's right. The ability to unlock through an exploit ultimately makes the device less secure for everyone. Me I take the choice to unlock mine.... So I'll go the hassle of synchrony credit to get the phone on device payments

Wasn't the Pixel in the same position and anything Verizon related whether the store or fr Verizon the same?
My money is it will be locked. Why would Verizon go through he trouble for exclusive especially a color if it could be bought elsewhere without the same restrictions?

I can think of one reason. If you bought it from Google then they are not responsible for any incursions into the bootloader or bricks. Even hardware problems they can just say "Hey you didn't buy it from us so call your vendor." I believe that if the bootloader is unlocked somehow on a Verizon model then they can also say you voided your warranty although I don't believe it will be unlocked anytime in the near future.

Then why even go with the exclusive deal and leave it like they did with the 5X/6P? Why was the original pixel intended for Verizon no matter where it was purchased was locked down?
I don't see this time around being different. It'll be locked down and have to wait for an exploit to be found to unlock it.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. But of course you know there is a "but" in there. If you want an unlocked bl on a payment plan then you have no option at this time and as you state there is no difference in price. (well other than possibly hurting your credit score by taking out another line of credit) But if you wait until black Friday that ZERO difference in price that you speak of will no longer be that. Now you're talking of possibly a $400 difference like they did last year with no trade in, unlike this years "qualified device trade in". But that is obviously speculation and time will tell.

That is a good point. If the Verizon Pixel / XL 2 bought from Google is indeed locked down then it doesn't make sense. Except for the fact that they may not have enough of them like last year? But if the Google bought Verizon 2 is not locked down then all bets are off. Still waiting on confirmation about that.
Just thought of another thing. What if Google wanted in on the finance action for the Verizon version? Maybe that was part of the exclusivity.
Then Verizon would want some control if they are going to give a piece of that pie. Even more reason as to looking down Pixels intended to Verizon.

I don't know how companies that large operate on things like this. They could even have said to Verizon, we'll give you the exclusive if you give us some selling rights to your network. Could work both ways.

Verizon isn't going to concede money for anything intended for their Network without locking the bootloader. History has proven this.
Google doesn't need rights to Verizon Network.
Fun fact any manufacturer can make a device to work on Verizon. Verizon even has to open source their standards to their Network. Most companies forgo CDMA standards as it is expensive to license which is paid to Qualcomm. So if anything Verizon often pays for this licensing for device makers for certain things in exchange. Like locked bootloader or slight variations to design or options.

$25, have regular pixel 3 so would need to work both models.
Coming from the 2XL, best of luck. Was a total mistake buying it from Verizon and will never do it again. I encourage you all to get it unlocked from Google. If you need the financing, you can get it elsewhere around the same monthly price.
I don't understand why you guys buy these phones from Verizon when you know the bootloader is locked. Why not just buy it from Google it's the same price
My company just let me have the bogo deal since they were buying another employee one. Otherwise i would have ordered from Google.
Throw me in there for 30$
I'd be happy with root, but I am debating about fixing my HTC 10 and returning this to Verizon (taking the $50 hit) and rebuying it from Google.
Throw me in there for $50
I'd personally take the hit. But for me a 1k phone is worth significantly less without root.
I wasn't hanging around XDA when I bought the 2XL so made the mistake going with Verizon. You guys in here now, ground zero, are being warned by others, even still making a bounty post already! It's like you see the wall you're about to run into and start planning for the ER visit instead of just moving out of the way.

Not all of us can get approved for the Google financing, or have the $1000 up front like that man.

Not to mention, Verizon had BOGO, for $800 off another Pixel 3 or XL. Plus Best buy had $100 GC per activated phone, so that's $1,000 in credits. Then Verizon has a promo for $200 mastercard GC per new line activation for military lines, so for me that was $1,200 in credits for 2 Pixel 3XLs. I'll take $1,200 in credits over Day 1 root anyday. It's just a phone, most important things can be done without root these days. Only worth while things that need root are for the true hardcore enthusiasts.
Anyone who says they're too good for $1,200 is truly crazy.
Plus some people are "stuck" with the Verizon model. I did purchase the unlocked from the Google Store but bought a 3. After using it for a few days, I just wasn't happy with the size (plus I wanted the bigger battery) so I wanted to get the XL. My return period with the 3 closes by the time the Google Store estimates I'd get an XL. So my only option was to buy the Verizon model from Best Buy. I hope I'll be able to unlock the bootloader somehow, but I guess it won't be the end of the world if I can't.
$50 for me
I dont think there will be an unlock for the VZW version unless its stumbled upon , not much interest for devs to work on it if you can just buy the unlocked version. so get the unlocked one unless absolutely necessary to get from VZW lol. I for one would have wanted the google unlocked version even more so now cause i think a lot of the sound and memory issues will be fixed much better through custom Kernels but i wound up having to get though Verizon for better deal still debating trying to get an unlocked version from google
No one found or was interested in finding root for the Pixel 2, and I would imagine that the 3 will be no different. I had the 2 XL from Verizon, and this time around I got the 3 XL from Google.

Yeah that seems like it will be the case with the 3 XL , i did fine with my Verizon 2xl so i thought i would be good with the Verizon 3 XL , but i have a feeling the few things that bother be about the 3 XL will require an unlocked device to fixed them with rom/kernel .... i should have been saving to get from google lol
I'll put down 100$ to see this happen. Just got a Verizon model today. I compile a few ROMs for various devices so if it gets done I'd love to work on this device. Quite frankly I feel safer to donate after I know work has been started.
I know some of you bought a Verizon model for certain reasons, but instead of pledging a bounty for something that may never come, why not sell your phone on Swappa and buy an unlocked model from either Swappa or Google? What's it going to cost? Maybe $200 at the most, but probably not that much. It's not much more than what you're willing to donate, and you'll have an unlocked model much sooner.
Probably not the right place to post this, but my wife and I got VZW Pixel 3's in the mail today. I'm guessing one is an RMA, not sure, but her bootloader is unlocked out of the box.
I'm at work right now, but the phone is at home. Any useful information I can pull off of it?

I am not a dev but have been around here for a bit. Send us a pic of the bootloader screen, blur the important info like the imei and whatnot. From what I read in the P3 area is that the VZW bootloader can be unlocked if you don't put the VZW sim in first, complete the Google Setup, and then connect it to wifi, you can then unlock the bootloader.
I will be trying this tomorrow. and since they cannot turn a phone on without your permission first I think I'll be able to do this. Shoot, I'll even research to see if the bootloader can be reset for those of you (and possibly me included, I'll find out tomorrow).
The great thing about technology is there is ALWAYS a workaround, you may just have to find it.

Do I have to pay off my T-Mobile oneplus 7 pro and have it on T-Mobile's network for

I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks In advance!!!

For?
You can buy it from TMO and seemingly have to have it on their for 90 days at most after that you can take it anywhere you want that has a supporting network. Either prepaid or pay in advance/contact
Your question is not complete (thread title is limited in characters - keep it simple in the title, then ask the question in the post). But I don't see a point in buying a T-Mobile branded 7 Pro, if you aren't going to use T-Mobile as your carrier. The US unlocked version is the same price. And you don't have to deal with SIM unlock, or "converting" it to the international version (or otherwise putting up with T-Mobile branding and bloat). In general, I often give the advice to NOT buy a US carrier branded device, if you are not using that specific carrier (for a number of important reasons). Especially true in this case, since again the unlocked version costs the same. Maybe I'm missing something here?

If you're trying to stop paying tmo but have a phone on their network, I'd wait until however long their policy is to allow it to be sim unlocked, for the sake of resale value.
Regardless, I dumped TMO a few years back while still being on their network using Mint Mobile. Great pricing (I buy the 12 month deal and am on my 3rd year). You don't need a sim unlocked TMO phone to use Mint Mobile, as they are an MVNO on their network.
Hope this is the info you were looking for.
If you do want to SIM unlock it, DO NOT pay it off until they do unlock it as TMO's policy to people not paying their monthly fee is that you can suck it on unlocking and any support whatsoever.
Been there, done that. They're arses.

You can call them and request a temp unlock for out of country travel. Also, if they still use that Device Unlock app, you can do it right from that.
