Hi,
I upgraded to this device from a Samsung device and used MyBackup Root to backup my data. However, I do not yet have root on this device to be able to restore my apps with App Data. I do see however that Huawei Backup has the ability to backup and restore app data to the /data partition by exporting it into/from a MySQL DB and splitting it into "blobs" as required. MyBackup Root obviously does it differently and is unusable here.
I was wondering, would it be feasible/possible for me to take the Huawei Backup apk and install it on my Samsung device to backup my apps in order to restore them to my Huawei device including, without root?
Thanks.
Anyone?
Bumping this, hopefully someone has some insight
i have same issue
please we need help

Hi, in Samsung S4 for root has became a difficult thing to do because you can have problems for warranty.
But now i have a backup in Titanium with important settings and data that i cannot to load in my new S4.
Does exist a method to convert backup from Titanium to another app that doesn't require root access?
Thank you for your help!!
Hi!
I'm going to wipe data and cache and I need to make a app + data backup without root.
Two only method I know are hellium and adb backup.
In the last device I owned Hellium doesn't work properly (I lost most apps and data). And using adb backup I'm not sure if it works perfectly or if it will improve device smoothness.
Do you recommend me a good way to backup apps with their data?
Thanks in advance.
Hello

I was wondering the same thing.

Yes, I have a S8. I thought I posted it in the questions and answers forum.
I didn't know that with Smart Switch we can full backup apps and data and not only transferring them to a new Samsung device.
I hope that backups are encrypted.
Smart Switch does not restore everything.... Just like Helium (non-root) . Some apps prohibit backing up app data ???
Hi Guys,
I wanted to root my phone temporarily so I can run this DiskDigger software (which I had used in the past with another phone with good results) that requires root in order to recover deleted photos.
Now if there was some sort of temporary root solution then that would be great as I don't actually want to root the phone properly mainly because I like to use some banking software that doesn't allow it...
If temp root is not possible then is a root without a data wipe possible? I am not entirely sure if my data will be lost by wiping the data partition as some of the files I want to recover also belonged in the secure folder app, which I think has its data stored in /mnt/secure but I am not 100% and I am also worried about the partition being re-encrypted again after a wipe, which could mean new encryption keys and I can't restore old files?
Any advice here is appreciated.
Thanks
I know the thread is old, but I want to backup some apps with data and no one solution (ad backup/restore is not working) like Titanium (but requires root) is working.
I'm looking to have a root shell with an exploit (like payloads on the consoles, or thethered jailbreak on iphone) so I can backup the data manually.
Any updates on this matter the last 2 years?

changes to /data are enough
Hi, can we restore only user data/ app data from the backed up file from recovery. We are not looking to get the ROM restored.
For an example, I had a custom ROM and in order to install another custom ROM, I've backup the internal data + system. Now, on my new ROM i require the old apps and app data present. Since I have a backup file, is it possible to restore only app data from the file?
Note: Titanium backup works only on root.
Background story: Root attempt has soft bricked my phone multiple times using SU 2.46. Hence, I have completely refused Titanium backup for phone's sake.
Thanks in advance.
So this is quite a hard question before trying it myself.
I would like to move from phone but don`t want the hassel of reinstalling all apps ect, I have currently rooted my device and plan on rooting my next one.
My question: Can I backup phone 1 then restore the backup on phone 2? (not same model)
And will all settings and configs like whatsapp ect be the same?

Use Google to backup your photos, videos and contacts.
Try helium for your apps and app data.
Use something like SMS backup to backup text messages there is also a way to backup and restore text messages via Google.
But, you will only be able to backup and restore user data and data partition, you will not be able to do this with any of your system apps or system app data or system data or system settings, these will not restore and work properly on the new device.
