So.. here goes my problem..
Got my Qtek 8310 three days ago, and the very same day I got it, decided to upgrade from WM5 to WM6. However, the battery charge meter gave me wrong info about the battery charge percentage, and the phone battery died just after I formatted the BINFS and re-setted the device in TeraTerm.
The device still powered on, after each USB cable re-insert, but died, after 5-10 seconds. After a couple of attempts, the phone didn't turn on at all.
Did some info search on the web and found out, that my battery fell to an critical voltage level. Li-Ion batteries require a certain voltage to even be able to accept a charge.
As I got an non-original battery (Sanyo ST26C) I suppose it is poorly designed and doesn't have good under-voltage protection (I have read about other HTC models (e.g. Wizard) having this problem as well), so the battery dropped below these limits and phone now identifies the battery faulty and doesn't let it charge. This is for consumer safety, because attempting to charge damaged Li-Ion cells can be dangerous, as Lithium is known to be able to catch fire/explode.
So the phone doesn't let to charge the battery in any way (1amp wall charger or USB cable).
Anyways, I tried to jump start the battery (charge with bare wires) to give it initial charge and... it worked. However, there goes my main problem: As soon as I insert the battery which has the initial charge, the phone starts immediately and boots to a bootloader (as there is no OS, formatted BINFS) and the the phone does not charge while in bootloader.
Then, I tried to turn off the phone: Hold down power off button for 5 seconds - phone turned off. But as soon, as I release the button, red light flashes once (as it does everytime, when you try to turn on the phone, it's normal) and then orange LED comes for a second, indicating a charge (as the battery is no longer considered faulty - phone lets it to charge), BUT then phone starts again to the bootloader and it somehow prevents further charge.
So: as soon as I release the power off button, after the phone has shutdown, it starts again, everytime, and soon the battery dies again.
My own thoughts of solving this:
* Get a fully charged battery from a friend, install the windows on the phone, and then charge my own battery (I know noone, who may have HTC Tornado, will be hard to get);
* Buy some standalone dock charger, which can charge batteries directly and charge the battery happily (haven't seen any around yet, so will be really pain in the arse, to get one);
* Charge battery with bare wires for an extended period of time, to give it enough juice to install windows (which I strongly doubt, as battery damage could occur);
Any other ideas? Ideas and comments, from people who know, or had similar experience is more than welcome. Looking forward for answers
Its funny. Reading you I've realized what people tell me about "I make a question and I answer it myself" So... You have the answers my friend. For options 1 and 2, use E-Bay. As a matter of fact, there is an aftermarket charger in ebay that charges your phone and a spare battery and it includes the spare battery when you buy the charger. I believe it runs for under $20.00. For option 3 use some wood cloth pins(those used to hang cloth to dry). I would say with at least 2hrs charge you should get a good 50% charge on your battery, enough to flash your phone.
Edit: Here is an Ebay Search. But, keep searching till you find the one that includes the extra battery. Chances are your battery is no good or won't last you very long.

Get a new battery man, these li ion batteries, are no joke, especially the fact that they are made in China/Taiwan, I myself had used a tornado battery even till the days when the battery has bloated and cracked the back cover, when a single charge could not even last 4 hours.
Those days, were like having a timebomb in your pocket, ended up I got mysel a new tornado at a price cheaper than a replacement battery.

Well yes, I have some suggestions, but I am also expecting others to have some, too. And by sharing the knowledge, maybe I could prevent myself to spend more money on this issue

The main problem with e-bay is... my country. at least 80% of the items, don't ship to my location.

Thanks for the suggestion. The main reason why I am in serious doubt about this option, is that standard chargers usually have some sort of regulators and monitors the charge, prevents from overcharging, etc. But on the other side, USB charge output is only 100 mA, so it couldn't be that bad if you think about it

Well, the fact, that it is manufactured in China actually says nothing Many companies choose China to manufacture their products because of low costs. And the most of electronics is manufactured in China and other Asian countries.
Anyway, before getting myself an new battery, I would like to try resurrect this one If this won't last long for me - no problem, I will get an new one. But until I'm convinced enough, it's a waste of money, which I don't like doing
And one more thing.. maybe someone knows a way to keep the phone power off?
Because as I said earlier on, it's charging only when it's turned off, and not in the bootloader. And problem is that, as soon as I put the battery, it starts-up the bootloader.
Get a desktop charger perhaps?
Or if you are adventurous enough, mod the USB cable, and charge the battery directly, only if you know what you're doing, and only if it works

Well.. thanks for the answer, but we've already discussed this option and now I am asking whether or not, someone knows a way to turn off the phone and keep it turned off (prevent from self startup) while the phone has no OS (got formatted BINFS).

I've already done that, and yes, it works. But I need someone to confirm, if it is safe enough to charge the battery for an hour or two.
Have anyone tried that?
I don't think that it's very safe. But I was having a similar problem, and I just left the phone connected to the power cable, and even though it seemed like it was not charging, it apparantly was.
Or you could just get a new battery. On expansys I saw a new one for ~$20.

Well..
With a modified USB cable (bare wires), which got power output of 100mA I have charged battery directly for approximately 3 minutes, and the phone turned on, and was operational for 4-5 minutes until the battery died again.
And before that, I've tried leaving it on an mains charger, which got power output of 1A (1000mA, 10 times USB). I left it for a hour or two, although no led was showing up to indicate a charge. The phone didn't event turn on after this 2 hour "charge".
And the reason for this is explained in my first post. Will try to leave it charge over a night, though, expecting for a miracle

But new batteries usually come empty, so it's no use to me. I have also explained why, on my previous posts.
So before buying an cradle charger, I would like to find out if these budget-friendly solutions will work:
1) Find out how to keep the phone powered down (because it's the only moment, when it truly charges);
2) Find out if it is safe enough to charge battery with bare wires for extended period of time (1-2 hours);

So.. I've got a Sony Ericsson w810i, would this technique work? The w810's battery is Li-Polymer, 900mAh 3.6V (although some sources say, that this exact battery is 3.7V..), compared to Li-Ion 1150mAh 3.7V Tornado's battery.

Haven't got any answers to my previous posts, so I tried.
The trick worked, Sony ericsson's battery can feed HTC Tornado perfectly. However... got another problem..
Here's how I wired it up. The positive wire takes two contacts and the negative takes another two aswell. The ends of the wires are then connected to the sony ericsson's battery. Phone starts, and boots to a bootloader. Everything's seem to be perfect.
Then I plug in the USB cable into the computer, the other end to the phone. Phone recognizes the cable and puts label "USB" at the bottom of the screen.
However, there's something wrong with the connection.. TeraTerm fails to connect and Update ROM utility fails, too, with an "cannot connect" error..
After that, I have tried using the original battery, with no wires attached, just plugged it in (gave it an initial charge again) and the USB worked without any problems: TeraTerm can connect.
So the problem seems to be in wiring.
I have tried to connect the wires in different random ways (crazy, I know), but only one alternate way did worked. Although, phone did heat-up rapidly at the area, where it says "HTC Innovation" and phone's display showed "USB" even if no USB cable was connected.
So.. looking forward to some thoughts or any knowledge, of why is this happening, wiring schemes, or any other suggestions..
FINALLY! SUCCESS!! I've connected the wires from the sony ericsson's battery to touch only one pin on the phone, instead of two, as shown in the picture. The phone didn't turn on, as I've tried this before.
But then remembered that the same pins charge the original battery, so inserted the battery and VOILA! Phone turned on to the bootloader and the USB circuit wasn't blocked no more! Flashed the phone to WM6.5 now successfully and the original battery is charging, as I write this post )
So, if anyone got HTC smartphone dead, while flashing, let me know, will try to help you out, since I've walked through this hell myself

1A Wall Charger Works!!
I've had the same problem discussed above. I was trying some of my own 6.5 ROMs, which by the way were getting stuck at the initial boot screen itself. Due to some unavoidable reasons and circumstances, the phone freely was left to itself at this exact state, untethered to any power source, for extended periods of time, during which it slept and refused to wake up again, all my pleadings going in vain. And when it did boot, it went into the tricolor screen conveniently and switched off in ten seconds. I turned to the net for help and found that any charger with rating above 1A would help in giving it the required juice. I didn't want to waste any of the 6 USB cables I have.
I got the original charger, which is an 1A charger, after 2-3 hours of searching my room (Hey, Don't be too hard on me! In the end, I got it, right? Actually, I use the PC for charging, and a smaller 550mA one sometimes-- both didn't work this time) and then, when I connected it showed the screen again. But this time, I found that it was capable of running it without the battery being present.
So, all I did was I kept the charger connected to it with the phone switched on in the tricolor mode and with the battery inside. After half an hour, I tethered it to the PC and flashed a proper ROM. And Voila!!! IT WORKED!! It was 2.45 in the morning!!
I guess the power from the 1A charger is enough for the phone to run and charge it too which is not the case in the 550mA one and the USB cable.

Glad to hear that it worked for you Unfortunately, it didn't for me (as I only have an after-market charget, not the OEM one, although it is 1A), so I had to search for alternative methods.

i have my atrix 2 and last night i leave it charging and fell asleep' when i woked up this morning the phone was completly off but it was connected to the power outlet.Now the phone does not boot up and when it does it just reach the att logo and shuts off all bye it self. By the other hand when i connect it to my computer it shows a white led on its top right corner but nothing happens.
i have done everything like taking out the battery, leavin it on the wall charger, triying to turn it on connected to the wall but with no battery, trying to boot up in recovery and the other ways but still nothing. i am very scared because it has no warranty

Sounds like you may have an issue with your wall charger and/or power outlet in which it was plugged in to. You may have a bad charger, but you should first try to plug it into a different wall outlet -one that is in a completely different room, just in the off-chance that something is wrong with the outlet you were charging from.
If this doesn't do the trick, you're going to have to find a way to get a charge to the battery while in the phone or by using a battery-only charger. There's not many ways about going about this easily, other than buying a OEM battery for the Atrix 2 or by purchasing a Battery-Only Charger. If you're feeling adventurous -and I STRONGLY CAUTION you with this, but there is a way to charge your battery. Please read, re-read, and read again THIS THREAD.

Last year my girlfriend allowed me to root her Sensation to try out different ROMs and all went well. A few months ago however, she started to have problems while charging her phone.
If she plugs it in while the phone is closed, the orange LED flashes on/off at around a 2 second interval, instead of holding it's colour. Furthermore, it never changes to green to indicate that the charge is complete. When the phone is in this state, she can't turn her phone on either - she has to unplug it in order to turn it on. If the phone is already on, and she plugs it in, everything behaves normally.
Either than that, the battery seems to hold the charge normally and the rest of the phone still works very well.
I've tried searching for similar problems but haven't landed on anything similar or which may be helpful. It's really got me stumped to what could be the cause, and more importantly, how to fix it!
Would someone have any ideas?

Does the phone behaves in same manner if it's fully charge n switched off when plugged to the charger.does the orange led fluctuate.
The orange led fluctuate whn the voltage of charger is less and it takes times to charge try switching the charger means if you use wall charger then charge through pc and vice versa

We tried switching from wall plug to USB on the laptop and it does the same thing. However, we noticed that if the battery isn't completely drained, the led doesn't flash - it charges normally.
Would there be a way around this?
I'd pick on the odds that the LED light hardware controller is slightly faulty, but if its really like you said its nothing to worry about, right?

this used to happen with me when i was on stock rom.
the problem is when the battery is completely drained it needs lots of voltage to get charge
for this problem i took my cell to htc service center and they replaced the adapter and the problem was solved
i think you must buy a new adapter or say a new charger i thing that must solve your problem of led and your phone will get charge as normal even with the battery completely drained OR i think we get wall chargers you can look at the picture in which we have to place the battery and the battery gets charged you justt have to put the battery.. this charger is locally available in indian market for 80 to 100 rs.. you can search on net for the charger this is really a good thing and is a universal charger chagers each and every battery here in india we call it as khekda (marathi word for carb ) charger

Yesterday morning I went to work with a completely charged Moto G. When I arrived at work my screen was black and had become unresponsive.
The powerbutton doesn't wake up the phone, tried several times, holding it for more than 150sec. When connected to a charger (tried multipe) the charging led lights up, not blinking.
I have read on a motorola forum that this could indicate that there's insufficient power in the battery to activate the display.
However it was completely charged.
My Moto G has an unlocked bootloader, is rooted and has a custom rom (C-Rom, [ROM][AOSP][KK][12/05] **C-RoM** -4.4.2- -v6.5)
Is there anything I can try or is my phone a brick now?

My moto G drained its battery until it shut down. Then i promptly went to charge it. The screen is blank and and notification light is on.

PS My Moto g bootloader unlocked, stock rom,rooted and it is on the Faux123kernel

No luck yet, left it on the charger for a whole night, still just the white charging led. No response to the power button.
But I refuse to believe it is completely dead. Before I had a HTC Desire S, tried many custom roms, never bricked it.
I just can't imagine what happend the day before yesterday.
Perhaps I'll try and find a more powerfull charger.

I think I found a solution. I followed these steps
1. Charge your phone via USB cable on your computer.
2. The white notification light should come on.
3. Then, do not touch any buttons on your phone.
4 The iconic Battery Logo(white background) should appear after several minutes.
Followed these steps and my phone eventually turned on

Still no luck, trying a different cable (blackberry) now.
Not working for me, still just a beautiful white led indicator.
Start to think it's probably dead. Or battery thinks it's drained somehow.
Maybe anyone else has an idea?
Ok, I opened the Moto G and disconnected the battery, reconnected it after 10 sec. still no luck
Odd thing though and not very promising is that when the battery is disconnected the charging led still lights up when charger is connected.
Could this just mean that only the battery is fully drained or that the device is messed up?
Guess I going for a new one.
See if a new battery helps
Bought a new one today, so I can try and fix the other. First I will leave it for at least 24 hours.
Perhaps I will exchange the batteries at one time to see if that helps.

Black screen but charging led lights up
I am experiencing the same issue.
I bought a dead moto g for part replacement with my current moto g. Just out of curiosity, I plugged in the charger to the newly arrived moto g and observed the similar behavior.
To go further, I swapped the battery and tried to turn it on, and voila, it boots!! It has C-ROM. But it won't charge the battery any how. Its again back to
original behavior : No Screen, No Battery Charging, Only notification LED glows. I kept it on charger for whole night, but no luck.
The notification LED turns on even if I the battery is removed and charger is plugged in. What does that really mean?
Is there a probability that the charging circuit is broken? or it has something to do with bootloader, C-ROM and custom kernel? Does any one thinks reverting back to Stock ROM will help out in any way?

Solid white LED when plugged in, no other response.
The most advertised trick does not work (step 6: flashboot screen doesn't show up)

Plug it into the charger
Hold the VOL DOWN key
While still holding the VOL DOWN key, press and hold the POWER key
Hold both keys down for over 120 seconds. This is more than two minutes and will seem like a long time. You might want to time yourself to make sure you hold it longer than two minutes.
After holding the keys down for more than two minutes, release them.
The Flash Boot screen will display, and the Normal Reboot option will be highlighted
Press the VOL UP key and the device will start a normal reboot.
If you have tried the above and it didn't work, try this:
Plug in the phone for 15 minutes.
Proceed to Step 2 above.

Due to the lack of other solutions, I guess all our phones are ready for RMA...
Update: an overnight charge on a 5V 1A charger did the trick. White led was gone this morning, booted normally.

i hv been facing the same problem since past 2 days, it was working gud wen suddenly it went bad. i remember using it and putting it back into my pocket & after like 10 mins wen i tried to open it, it didn't respond. i tried to hard reset it (by pressing vol down n power button) & by forced reset but it didnt work. now, i have put it on charge on a source of 5v 1A charger. i hope it works and works well. now my question is that i remember my cell was nearly 50% charged wen all of ds happened, so i wish to know that is dre some hardware problem or dead battery problem?? thnx in advance

I don't know why a USB charger and a PC connection should make any difference when the phone is not booted up.
I had the same problem. I solved it by removing the battery by opening the phone (mine was out of warranty) and taking it to repair shop where they charged the battery for an hour. Then when I put it back in, the phone rebooted normally with 10% charge.
But ever since, my battery life has deteriorated. Doesn't even last one full day. And I have had the same issue twice. I think I need a new battery.

Same Problem to me not for me this problem is faced by several moto g users are facing this if they unlocked their device bootloader.
I have a simple solution for that I have faced this issue long time ago and now I know a permanent solution. You all have usb cables in your house...just took a old one and cut it from the mini usb side..there are 4 wires...you have to care about red and black..open your moto g battery and took it off from the phone now connect the usb cable to your pc and touch the red wire to the positive and black to the negative ...just do this for 45 seconds and immediately connect the battery to the phone and connect the charger...phone will starts charging from 0 % pls do not wait to connect the switch and back cover just charge it upto 20 % the cover it up.....DO NOT LET YOUR BATTERY DRAIN MORE THAN 30% AS THIS IS COMMON PROBLEM IN LI ION BATTERIES...

I have a simple solution for that I have faced this issue long time ago and now I know a permanent solution. You all have usb cables in your house...just took a old one and cut it from the mini usb side..there are 4 wires...you have to care about red and black..open your moto g battery and took it off from the phone now connect the usb cable to your pc and touch the red wire to the positive and black to the negative ...just do this for 45 seconds and immediately connect the battery to the phone and connect the charger...phone will starts charging from 0 % pls do not wait to connect the switch and back cover just charge it upto 20 % the cover it up.....DO NOT LET YOUR BATTERY DRAIN MORE THAN 30% AS THIS IS COMMON PROBLEM IN LI ION BATTERIES...

Interesting, but how did you determine the negative and positive terminals on the battery flex? Can you, please, mark the attached photo of the battery of moto g to help the community?
Also, as a side note I think I discovered a solution - I connected the phone to my PC's usb 2.0 port and held the power button for 2 minutes - at which the LED blinked momentarily and then continues to shine. I left the phone connected and continued to browse for solutions to this battery charging dilemma - then about 5 minutes the LED stopped shining (and I breathed a sigh :silly: !!! becaue this is the sign of battery being charged!) and after about 30 minutes of charging I turned the phone on and it was 16% charged. Well I haven't been able to reproduce this solution (since, I have been extra cautious with the battery now!) but I would surely like to know if anyone can reproduce this solution:
1. Plug in your phone to USB 2.0 or 3.0 port with original moto g cable and confirm that the LED shines continuously.
2. Hold the power button for 2 minutes (which I discovered to be a long time if you just continuously stare at the phone!) after which you will notice that the led with blink momentarily before continuing to shine continuously. (I suggest you continue holding it for another 2 minutes after which the led will blink again momentarily)
3. Leave the power button and leave the phone attached to the port for at least 30 mins before attempting to power on.
Its been more than a week since my Moto G died. Before it happened it had 40% battery. The was the first 2 days the phone turned on quite a few times, only to make it to the boot logo. After that it didn't do anything at all and I lost hope. But 3 days ago it started doing something weird. Every time I connect the phone the LED lights up and turns off when disconnected. If I leave the device charging the LED stays on for like half an hour. Then it comes back on, in like an hour or so.
I've tried a lot of ways to turn the device but nothing helps.
Does anyone know what does the LED mean?

I'm not an expert on the subject but, I think the LED lights because the battery, try to restoring the stock rom via fastboot, if you don't know how do this, just put in the google: Motorola Moto G XT10XX Stock ROM
XX is the model, 32 is the Single SIM version, 34 Single is the SIM Model AWS (I think that is Moto G bought at T-Mobile and AT&T), 28 is BoostMobile version and 33 is Dual SIM version

The device don't boot and you can't go to fastboot mode, now I think that is a hardware problem, the better you can do is send the device to assistance
The Cells may be dead or very low charge. Um remindea me of my old blackberry, try holding power then plugging charger in, keep the power button pressed though

I think battery charge is very low like below 5% or even 0%, hence you r not getting fastboot screen.

The weird thing is it died at 40% and when plugged it in and tried to turn it on the first few times I saw the battery screen state a 40% charge. Then when trying to turn it on It showed the boot logo and then screen went black. After those few times (3-4) the phone didn't even power on or show the battery screen. I'm screwed since the bootloader is unlocked. So I can't return it. Its been more than a week and I really miss the phone and android and now I'm stuck now with my iPod touch. Guess I'll have to start saving to buy a new phone.
Weird thing is my previous phone died in a similar way: I was in the car and it suddenly turned off and then it did nothing.
