We are at the top of the list...

Uh... based on what? That is just a stupid opinion blog post.
??
What is this.
Its written, "Android N is the most advanced android AFTER Marshmallow".
?
Idle speculation, nothing more.
So we are now a tech gossip site?
Someone should delete this entire thread

Hi all ,
I was reading about android on a website and there was one statement which i didn 't understand: " it has a middleware application and other valuable development tools ". Can someone please explain me this statement about android ? I know that Middleware is software that allows a bunch of isolated systems or functionalities to interact. But i dont know the context here as i did not understand what is meant by android having middleware.. ..what would be the difficulty if it doesn 't has any middleware or what are the advantages of having it. Also, I did not got one more statement from the same page (posting below) Android does not work with programs that were developed in native code. I did not understood the word 'native' here . as far as i know , android apps are written in google developed java libraries ... so what does this statement mean?
Is there no one to reply to this in this forum?
How about a link to the original article? There's not nearly enough context in your post.
Sorry mrkite, i cant post the url unless i post 8 posts in this forum but i can tell you the link: you can search for all about android. seo chat keyword in google and it would be first result from seochat.com website

Understood - you can always post it as hxxp://etc.etc. it will let you do that. I'll take a look at the article.

I'm not quite sure what the author meant by middleware, either.
The 'native code' may mean one of two things. First, standard java apps don't run on android. Second, when this was written, the android ndk had not yet been released, so it wasn't possible to write functions in c/c++ and use them in an android app.

Hello all
Was reading: go to 'android.com' then add '/branding.html' **
In particular #4 and #5 - uses of 'Android' and 'Droid' ...
Just want to check my understanding:
With #4:
I guess that means you can use Android/Droid as long as it is combined with other words? ie. you can't just call your app/blog "Droid" or "Android", you need to have words before/after it...?
and for #5:
Does that mean if we do use Android as part of the name we need the 'TM' sign after the word Android?
Reason I'm asking is i've just recently dived into android dev, and started a blog "random android stuff", which uses 'android' in the name. If i'm not mistaken, according to #5, this means I should be putting "random android(TM) stuff"... is that correct? (I'd prefer not too, it just looks odd :S)
Cheers,
pyko
ps. not entirely sure if this belongs here, but it didn't feel like it belongs in the Android forums since it isn't software/programming related.
** pps. can't link to the android brading url!
lol man i have no idea, but who cares if u use the android word in a topic, just use it!.xD
Google isn't going to care what you call your blog. Don't bother with the TM. The branding is mainly in regards to commercial use, not free and fair use.
Hey,
I just started working on my first Tizen project. But hit so many obstacles along the way.
One of my biggest problems is that tizen's webpage and forum are very little populated with developers and nobody really seems to know much.
Why don't you add the Tizen OS in you Operating System categories ? In that way we can talk about apps, problem, porting etc.

Please ask your question in this thead: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1660354.
If there are any examples of development going on with Tizen OS please include them in your new post.
Thanks!
Has anyone here heard of this new "feminist programming language?" And is it for real? At first i thought it was a joke, but a quick google search shows MANY pages that are discussing it. Ill post a link to one of those pages. I especially like how they are "getting rid of violent programming terminology" (i.e. execute, boot, kill). Lol somebody please tell me this is a joke.

When I advise or choose a new phone I always make sure to avoid phone with few users and little development. This way, if I have a problem there is a lot of other people out there writing tutorials and posting questions. I'm not alone.
But how do I find how popular development on a phone is?
I used to simply the process by looking at official Cyanogenmod supported phones only... but that is no more. Lineage doesn't give me much indication as to how well supported a phone may become like CM did in that way.
Where might I find:
- number of downloads
- number of users
- number of posts, in a quickly accessible manner
- how's about number of commits on github or a similar code hosting site?
I also usually go for a phone 1-2 years old. So... this sounds like a Nexus. However, the person who is asking me is question me on LG, which I have no experience with.
Hi !
The forum`s website page has built-in lots of filter options and buttons from where you can choose a wide variety of stats
Use the XDA 2013 Beta - 1024 theme format and from the top of the page you can chose top devices https://forum.xda-developers.com/top then chose one and go to its dedicated subforums , development or original development
A live statistic with your desired stats isn`t available on the fly , use those above and you can easily figure out what is interesting to you
Cheers
