damn, gets hotter than my note 4! what's the max temp you've reached? I'm at 100 degrees f now just browsing around on my lunch hour. kinda annoying, honestly.. part of the reason I hated my Moto X Pure Edition was bc that thing would regularly hit 113 degrees and be annoying to hold. hopefully this snapdragon isn't as bad as the 808 was!

I would say that this is not normal. Mine does not get hot... only warm during gaming. Also the tests confirm that the phone does not get really hot. Maybe it is still in the set up phase?
could be! battery sucks today too haha. I'm also not using wifi ever.

Are you out in the sun when this happens? I have yet to see this phone get more than warm.
I have hotspot on and I am using a wireless QC2.0
The phone gets super hot until it reach 90%, then it becomes lukewarm.
At 100% charged, its very little warm.
Is this normal?

Yes, wireless charging heats up the phone a lot. The phone automatically slows the charging speed to prevent the phone from overheating.

nah. i was inside at work at lunch from like 12-1 browsing stuff. hangouts tends to get phones hot for some reason, and i was browsing other apps for like an hour straight. but yea, she didn't hit 100 luckily, but yeah, pretty damn warm.
Mine got really hot, M9 hot during the intial install of apps etc but only gets warm afterwards
This phone is by far the hottest I've had so far

Its not good to use the phone while charnging. Especially fast charging. Maybe very little use at most.
My phone has only got slightly warm, and that was while playing a racing game. Everything ells is room temps
Heat test.

I don't feel any particular heat from mine, even while running intensive games or benchmarks, then again, I am using the Exynos variant.
A littlebit warm after 1 hour of Real Racing 3. Not hot at all. Htc one m7 was hot phone. .
Mine is charging right now with the fast charger, while streaming radio over bluetooth. Its warm, but not what I would call hot. My LG G3 got significantly hotter. Even playing with my Gear VR the other night it only got pretty warm, but I've no idea the actual temp, I just know it isn't as hot as my G3 would get sometimes just playing games.
Mine doesn't get really hot like my S5 or M9. The hottest ive experienced is like warm to the touch. Not HOT. Mind you, I'm wireless fast charging constantly.

Yeah at first I thought my S7 was cooler than my S6 Edge but even with just Web broswing for an hour or so the S7 is averaging like 90 degrees F. Current temp is 94. It's warm not "hot" but still annoying.
I think the Speck candyshell plastic case made it worse... trying to use bare now but still a bit warm.
I may have to go back to a flip case or something.
I hope I can get used to the warmth (tho I'd rather not have to -- def. annoying). Other than the warmth this phone completely rocks. I think I'll probably have to adjust because it's so damn amazing. I doubt any other phone can compare.
Name an Android phone as powerful as this one but which stays cooler... is there one?

Mine gets quite warm as well would sit around 32 degrees Celsius from browsing the Internet. I'm just worried if it's a defected device or not cause I have the exynos and some people don't even go over 25 degrees.
Yeah, I'm seeing this as well. Qualcomm variant. Just web-browsing for half an hour causes a pretty good bit of heat at the top of the phone, though I haven't checked the actual temperature.
I don't mind the heat itself, but the phone clearly start throttling and even just scrolling around in Chrome becomes laggy. Annoying.
A
lately mine has been ok surprisingly. not once did it even hit 90 today on lte all day. battery has also gotten a bit better. it's been a full week today since I got the phone, so who knows, maybe it really does take a week to settle which is kinda crazy lol

Is anyone getting 45% battery temperature!? I checked after unplugging from fast charging and using camera for a couple of minutes.

I just noticed that after about 5-10 mins of just surfing the internet (wifi or 3g), the top half of my phone gets pretty warm. The source of the heat isn't from the screen, but from the actual innards of the phone in the half that's above the battery.
The phone isn't plugged in either.
I'm considering getting an exchange if others aren't having this issue.

Yes I've noticed the phone does get quite warm. It doesn't seem like there are any openings for heat to escape from inside and with as much power as this thing has it wouldn't have hurt to have some opening for air flow.
Not really. One thing I noticed is that my phone doesn't get hot even when playing games while plugged in.
On the other hand, my Nexus One would get REALLY hot when charging and using Navigation at the same time.
Not here either..
Mine gets a little warm during certain app usage. Not site which one causes it.
Its warm now and I was on Facebook, Firefox, xda and I have tune in radio streaming.

I had an N1 too. If I were to rate the N1's temperature as 100 points, my G2x gets to about 80 points on the same scale. But the only time my N1 would get that hot is if I was busy navigating GPS while charging. My G2x gets hot with me surfing in the shade, without charging.
So I guess I should exchange this sumbitch.
I don't get any noticeable heat on this phone, even when charging.

My Sensation 4G heats up not to the point of burning, but if i had SetCPU it'd probably say ~100 degrees. This is after about 5 minutes of use....anyone having this problem, and if not, what does the date on your phones back door say? Just curious to if this is a defect or not because my friends G2x never gets hot...
i played continuously for more than 30 mins . It heat up too ... but not the way you observed .
mine was like 35-38 degrees .. same like my rooted desire ..
Exchange it. It's not normal. Mine barely heats up, even when charging or playing games.
Mine went up to 45C today while playing plants vs zombies...only had it 4 days.
Mine gets fairly warm if im holding it and playing games. Its pretty cool when charging though. Dont think thats too out of the norm with a small powerfull device.
Mine during charging is 35 ~ 39C.
Some browsing, you tube 5 minit. Went up to 42C!!
Mine overheated and restarted when i charged it for the first time. Strangely it haven't done it since.
i thought it was just me, mines heats up aswell i can be texting browsing or whatever it seams to overheat regardless, i cant pinpoint the issue, surprisingly while charging the temperature seems to lower versus heat up. but regardless it still has a little heat to it. But nowhere near as bad as both of the nexus S' i went through were. The screen on my S4G doesnt get hot its more of the bottom portion where as the SNS(nexus S)' both of them the screen would get unbearable sometimes during charging and using
Heating up
40 mins of Angry birds gets mine up to 42 degrees, however my Advent Vega would get just as hot under similar use and thats with a bigger case and more area to dissipate heat.
This is odd but my Sensation is perfect from a hardware perspective right now (no guarantees on dust under screen in the future!) but for some reason the bottom area where the capacitive buttons are and the backside in the same area gets pretty warm/hot at times. Strangely no other area of the phone gets warm and the battery remains pretty cool. Also the phone doesn't exhibit any weird behavior or instability. I haven't had a single reboot or crash with this phone and I've been pushing it quite a bit.
So my conclusion is this heat is normal and how it's meant to be. Am I right?
I have the same occurrences with my phone. Great performance- I have YET to have it freeze/lag up bad or reboot.. and that is just amazing. Like I said in the other thread, the back of my phone will get warm, but never hot. I do think its normal, because it only happens after I have been using it constantly for 20+ minutes. (Still frightens me though)
I don't know about the bottom area but my screen gets pretty warm while charging and I am using it to play games or whatever but for normal use I never noticed anything else getting warm.
Sent this sensational message for my sensation
Just as a theory, the bottom there could be the location of the CPU.. I have yet to know or see a dissection of the device but i think maybe either CPU or memory is there.
CPU, cell radio, and charging/discharging circuitry is down there. The screen getting warm is just heat passing through from the before-mentioned stuff. Pretty typical from a beefy phone like ours. Good stuff!!
My phone gets noticeably warm too, especially when transferring a lot of data.
Mine gets warm when charging it at the same time I'm playing a game. My G2X is the same exact way. I really could give two ****s less how hot it gets. These processors were made to burn and if they burn up. Get a replacement.
Amen brother!

This happens to me too. It gets really hot when I'm charging it and doing something CPU-intensive.
all my touchscreen phones back to SPV's have got warm when in use for a while, so I wouldn't think this is an issue.
I think the reason why it gets warmer than other phones is due to the aluminum case. Aluminum is a great heat conductor, and the way I see it it's a good thing in this case. I'd rather have the heat spread to the outside of the phone, vs having all of those internal components burning up. With plastic shell phones, the heat builds up internally with nowhere to go. Hooray for heat.
If im charging and playing games for many hours, it gets a tad warm. A far cry from my other phones and unlike my iphone, the sensation does not lock up when. warm
I have same issue.I just buy sensation from tmobile store in full price and one day later I found when I am using phone for more than 10 mins the phone getting very very warm (hot) on the bottom of phone even more hot than hd 7
it is normal or not?? if not normal what can I do? can I call tmobile to exchange ?or htc ?
I think it's normal for our phone. and to be honest i'm sacred of using the phone for a long time either for gaming or web surfing it. well i just wonder would there be any water cooling solution for our phone like the one the pc. hahaha
Yes heat is normal. The CPU is in the bottom front of the phone. So that's where it gets hot. Heavy surfing and gaming will make for lots of heat.
For liquid cooling, place in ziplock and use under water

Has anyone experienced hot spots on their edge? there is a huge amount of heat coming off the upper right potion of my edge.
All Notes that I have had (1-3 and the Edge) would only get warm when running hard (nav + music) while charging at the same time. The Edge seems to do the same thing, but mine doesn't get warm at all under typical use.

I've had mine since Monday and it's barely gets warm whereas my GS3 would get hot. I haven't played many graphic intensive games yet, but have watched hrs of video continuously and the i think the only heat really is coming from me holding it. Other than that, it's been exploring the phone, surfing and other everyday use.

How many days have it been?
I got mines on launch day the 14th. And it took a few days of draining it low and charing it back up before it started to last.
I remember when I first got it was it dripping to 50% really fast then start to go a bit slower from there.
But like today. I check a few emails and got on the Web and it went from 99% to 98% in 10 to 15mins vs day one where it would drop from 99% to 90 in 15mins.

Its actually pretty good. With moderate to heavy use, i get about 11 hrs but if i just let it sit with light use (checking email, light browsing etc) it drops slowly. It's at 4:45 mins now and I'm still art 91%. I wonder if your other charger is bad or an app is draining it. My nexus 7 (2013) drains on the charger if my daughter played her my little pony game. That app keeps draining in the background.

I did, it said mostly my screen. The Google auto restore installed an app I had on my heart called open mic + I never ran it but I think that might have been it. I also let it fully deplete last night and today it seems normal. I hope it's not defective I got mine through the website and really am not on the mood to run around...

Specifically around the camera area on the back. This happens whenever I am downloading or updating software and similar activities which suggests to me it is a wifi issue (I dont have bluetooth enabled most of the time) Not sure if I should worry about this or not - the phone seems otherwise OK but does get hotter than my Note 3. In normal use, even while charging it is cool to the touch
Hey guys. I'm from Brazil and I have just bought a Samsung Galaxy S6 (SM-G920I). My previous smartphone broke almost a month ago, so I may have gotten unused to a high end smartphone. It turns out that it is feeling warm during light use like browsing or Facebook. I can't tell if it started after the firmware update because it was one of the first things that I did when I turned it on for the first time. The temperatures that I am recording hovers around 38 °C to 44 °C. When I switch from Facebook to CPUz it is recording around 52 °C but starts dropping right away reaching around 43 °C. It is not hot, but it bugs me since it doesn't seem right to an octacore smartphone feel warm when browsing.
*I've just recorded a 1 minute video in ultra HD and when I switched to CPUz the temperature was at 70 °C, but also started to drop, stabilizing a little at 51 °C.
I've already cleared the cache and did a factory reset.
Do you guys think that I received a faulty smartphone?
I have the same problem on SM G920F which i bought several days before sometimes it goes around 36c battery and 63-64 cpu with no good reason for , like light usage(like messenger, snapchat) it works fine but its heating up and feels quite annoying for hand did anyone experienced same thing, and will buying a case for phone at least make feel better for hand?
Well, my phone was at 48 °C - 54 °C when it was in my front pocket and running only 4 apps on background (WhatsApp, CPUz, browsing, and outlook). It is not even hot in Brazil right now. Honestly it doesn't seem right!
It is normal. The CPU is just too powerful for heat to not build up.
Rest assured I played Walking War Robots on my phone for an hour and a half until my phone was hot enough for me to not be able to hold it comfortably. Nothing happened, I let it cool down for 10 minutes before Fast Charging it.
If it does not show any overheating message then it is not a problem.
Well considering it was built to be premium model its kinda dissapointing , like being 5 minutes on snapchat or 10 minutes of light usage makes him warm and a LOT of worse phones cant heat unless you like play games 10 minutes or really load them.If i put a case its heating like 10-15 % more.
I m suspicious because i havent seen a lot of people complaing about heating verry few people complainted about this. But phone is really great only problem (for me) is heating.

Thank you, I appreciate it.
It makes sense that such a powerful CPU would generate some heat, but at the same time simple processes like these
shouldn't cause any level of warmness. I also checked the battery temperature which could be damaging for the phone
and it didn't raise the temperature as much the CPU. My phone had just 2 days of use, so I sent it back and I'm waiting for
a replacement. I will keep you posted.
