Has anyone experienced hot spots on their edge? there is a huge amount of heat coming off the upper right potion of my edge.
All Notes that I have had (1-3 and the Edge) would only get warm when running hard (nav + music) while charging at the same time. The Edge seems to do the same thing, but mine doesn't get warm at all under typical use.

I've had mine since Monday and it's barely gets warm whereas my GS3 would get hot. I haven't played many graphic intensive games yet, but have watched hrs of video continuously and the i think the only heat really is coming from me holding it. Other than that, it's been exploring the phone, surfing and other everyday use.

My Note 3 got warm when I was online a lot of playing games. The note edge hasn't done this. Also I haven't play the game I normally b do.

How many days have it been?
I got mines on launch day the 14th. And it took a few days of draining it low and charing it back up before it started to last.
I remember when I first got it was it dripping to 50% really fast then start to go a bit slower from there.
But like today. I check a few emails and got on the Web and it went from 99% to 98% in 10 to 15mins vs day one where it would drop from 99% to 90 in 15mins.

Its actually pretty good. With moderate to heavy use, i get about 11 hrs but if i just let it sit with light use (checking email, light browsing etc) it drops slowly. It's at 4:45 mins now and I'm still art 91%. I wonder if your other charger is bad or an app is draining it. My nexus 7 (2013) drains on the charger if my daughter played her my little pony game. That app keeps draining in the background.
I got mine wed and it runs extremely hot doing bare minimum and completly dies in 4 hrs

I did, it said mostly my screen. The Google auto restore installed an app I had on my heart called open mic + I never ran it but I think that might have been it. I also let it fully deplete last night and today it seems normal. I hope it's not defective I got mine through the website and really am not on the mood to run around...

Specifically around the camera area on the back. This happens whenever I am downloading or updating software and similar activities which suggests to me it is a wifi issue (I dont have bluetooth enabled most of the time) Not sure if I should worry about this or not - the phone seems otherwise OK but does get hotter than my Note 3. In normal use, even while charging it is cool to the touch

So, after a first full charge last night, I am still at 85%. Quite good if you ask me.
It's been off the charger for about 12 hours, and saw light usage today. Screen brightness is about 35%, which used 38% of the power.
Most of the time I had the screen off. I made a couple calls and texts, and did a bit of browsing, using the phone less than an hour in total.
Coming from the G2X, this is a big improvement, because it means I'll be able to go a couple days without charging if I need to. I'm sure my battery would drop fast with heavy usage, but this is good enough for me!
had the phone for almost two days.. getting about 14 hours on regular use for me. not bad considering its bone stock. I can manage

i found that with minimum use, and constant reception, im getting almost 20hrs before i get the standard alert.
i usually use internet and gTalk A LOT during a day, and that yields around 10hrs.
but just recently i moved offices to an area with 0 reception or 3g, and when this fone seeks networks, it KILLS the battery, from 100% to 15% warning in just a few hrs
all in all thought its got really good battery life, considering the specs
Thanks, I was looking for this game on the market...
Why does the dev didn't put it on the market ? Is there some fee ?

How do you know the screen brightness percentage? Or is it just a rough estimate?
I was hoping it would at least match my G2 considering it has a 20% larger battery but I could easily go twice as long on my G2 battery as the Sensation. And using the sensation at all really drains the battery fast. 30 minutes of GPS dropped my battery from 95% to 60%. That's just absurd.
lol i completely forgot about the GPS draining the battery, ive only used it twice and never again because its that bad thats a serious issue that hopefully gets fixed (not any time soon though, there are much more important issues at hand)

So I read that a ton of ppl has issues hitting 100% battery charge, I'm also seem to be having the issue till I got and played Plants vs Zombies...after like 1 hour playing I was about to turn on the alarm and hit the bed and I just noticed my battery level, 100%....so I thought that it was an error and I locked the phone just to see on the lock screen "charged"....btw, when I started playing the battery was at around 92% and I've never seen 100% before on my NS.
How many ppl is able to get their phones to fully charge to 100%? and, does any of u installed or did anything in particular to fix the issue?
Hm, only had mine 2 weeks and have yet to get a 100. My epic would but it was a faux 100 if anything as it. Would drop down to around 98-96 immediately.

you can use that if u really want too get too 100% i used for a few weeks then just stopped caring. Its just the way samsung programmed it to pro long the overall life of the battery.
Yeah, mine caps at 95% normally. Might have a look at that program. How much shorter would battery life be if we let it charge to 100%?
If you leave the screen on (by any means, whether you were playing game, which requires you to have the screen on, or change the setting to have screen always on), it will charge to 100%.
will the battery life shorter with this trick or using that app to force to charging completely ?
Its not an issue. Samsung designed it that way. Its to help keep the battery healthy and extend its life.

I honestly don't see it being noticeably shorter life span. We keep phones for a max of 2 years now days. I rather have a full battery now then it last an extra few months. Battery's are cheap so we dont need them to last forever .
Well, I have used the phone while connected to the charger but never passed 96%, only after playing PvsZ I got the 100% and then the number went down till 96% and stayed that way after I closed the game.

I got my Nexus 5 on Monday and have been pretty happy with it so far. Today was the first day I actually had to be away from WiFi for the day and the battery life has stunned me with how poor it has been. I haven't seen battery drop so fast since I had my Desire HD. I took it off charge about 9am and at just after 8pm as I type this I'm down to 10% with under 2 hours screen on time. 100% to 10% in around 10 hours with less than 2 hours screen use.
Has anyone else had this poor battery life? I'm going to let it run down completely, install GSam and see if it happens again but from what I've read on a few reviews (The Verge was the main one) this seems to be almost normal. I would be unhappy with battery life this bad after two years, not two days.

The good battery apps like BBS are broken on KitKat.
But your battery life is not normal. Mine is quite good, about what I would expect. For reference, my GS3 would use 0.2-0.4% per hour while idling during the night. I can't get real numbers or monitor wakelocks on this phone yet. But so far, seems at least somewhat similar to that.
Use Greenify.

A brief summary of my brief usage. I haven't played any games at all since I got the phone and the only usage has been social network apps and very light browsing of around <20 minutes. Oh and I made a call that lasted around 15 seconds. Everything else is stock setup. I have unlocked the bootloader but I did that prior to setting it up due to it wiping everything in the process.
Basically I've used it as much as I'd use my Nexus 4 and that wouldn't see so much as a 30% drain by now. The only thing that I am looking at as a possible cause is that the phone defaults to wanting 4G only. I'm not on a 4G plan or in a 4G area but even with that Mobile Standby is only showing 4% battery use. Suffice to say I switched that to 3G when I saw it just before posting. As I said, I'm going to drain it completely then charge to full and watch it very closely but I wanted to get thoughts while I waited.
I have contacted Google to see if there are any known issues that have popped up but the response I got just suggests turning off practically everything! Why would I opt for a powerful phone just to turn off sync, location services and anything that makes it a smartphone? The baffling one to me is suggesting I switch to AIRPLANE mode if I'm not near WiFi! I didn't buy a WiFi only tablet, I bought a phone!
"If you know you won’t be near a mobile or Wi-Fi network for a while, switch to Airplane mode"
I have been very pleasantly surprised with the battery life with my Nexus 5, I have noticed however that Google Location service likes to use battery power, more importantly - GPS - way too much..
However, I leave it on and even still it easily lasts me a day of use, with around 30-40% left depending on how much I use it.
What are your highest apps in the battery use screen?
Try turning off Google location services.
I am really pleased with battery life. Around 30-40 % left at end of day.

I saw similar with the Nexus 4 but refused to switch off location services and it seems ok. I've attached screenshots just taken. It seems I was a little off with my browsing estimate which shows 36 minutes in Chrome but still hardly astronomical.
OK so far the general opinion seems to be that it's just me. That helps me eliminate the phone and / or battery just being awful so thanks guys.
I'm at near 11 hours and am at 69%.. with an hour screen time. Not great but it easily gets me through the day. By the time I plug it in tonight it will probably have 20-30% and 3 maybe 4 hours of OST. That's more than enough for me
I should mention I have location off.. and only turn it on if I'm going to use the GPS
I also have Google Now off I don't need those flash cards to tell me how long it's going to take me to get home.. it's useful sometimes but I rarely look at em.
I'm pleased with my battery so far.. for the super heavy user they definitely wouldn't get a day.. but for me I'll get it easily.
its been pretty terrible for me with identical setups as other devices.
it has me seriously contemplating going back to my htc one. overall i do love the phone tho so hopefully I get a better idea when betterbatterystats is updated.
Few things with battery thats annoying me is google services kill this phone worse than any other ive owned. Even with google now disabled and location disabled. Also my daily drive to work I always use waze w/ screen on. With my other phones (htc one / n4 / iphone 5) i generally lose between 10-15% battery. On this phone im easily losing 25%.
I have access to charging so not a huge deal for now. Its a new os update so maybe it will get ironed out.

you are forgetting you are having a full HD and quad core phone now.
Ahh you got that google services bug eh.. that will kill any battery
Despite not wanting to I did a factory reset and installed a handful of apps, nothing that should cause issues anyway. When I got to Twitter though just after installing I noticed two warning notifications crop up that I remember just dismissing without thinking last time.
com.google.android.gsf.login
com.google.android.calendar
Both state they need installation of Google Play Services. I've ignored them for now so it'll be interesting to see if they have anything to do with it. I know the screen is going to be using more battery than I'm used to when it's on and notice that in battery use it's just everything else.
Friday will be the ultimate test of sorts. I've disabled WiFi, I'm charging it up and have disabled a few location things I don't care about. If it goes down hard again then it's going back.

I don't think what you're getting is that out of the ordinary. Between screen time and cell reception (the largest contributors to battery life) you could easily be seeing 'normal' battery life.
Don't expect more than 3.5 hrs of screen time, especially if you have reception issues when not on WIFI. And I'm talking 'normal' computer/dev/IT guy usage (e.g. using the phone as it's intended aka using google now, using one or two emails with push sync, using music services occasionally and sparingly during a day, NOT running in airplane mode, not disabling a crapload of smartphone features).
Hello guys.
So i bought the s6 non edge 32 gig model 3 days back. The phone is awesome no doubt but i had heating issues from the very first day. First i thought it might be the battery drain. did factory reset and i was getting 4hrs+ SOT with 5.0.1.
Now i am on 5.1.1 and the battery seems to have improved giving 5hrs SOT. But the phone heating issue remains the same. The phone gets warm about 92F above after 5 minutes to 10minutes normal usage.
Using the phone for 30 min the temperature is near 100F . is it normal? Cpu spy shows normal activity. The phone only heats while using it is cool with screen off. The heat is felt on the left side of camera and spreads around after more usage. Due you think its because of the climate. i live in a place where summers are always above 93F . But even in AC phone gets pretty warm.
Do you think my battery timings and phone heating is normal. Please comment i am quite worried about it i spent a lot of money on it.

My question is how oftenly do you feel that yous phone is getting warm?
Maybe brightness is too high causing the phone to heat. Cases also make phones overheat.

Hey, I had a similar problem with my Galaxy S6 32gb and I would only get roughly 10 hours battery life out of it with 2 hours screen on time and as soon as I turned the screen on, it would be so hot on the right side, you couldn't actually hold it. I just ended up selling it and didn't think to contact Samsung or anything because it did it every time I turned the screen on so I just thought it might've been normal. I always had everything turned off with just wifi and auto screen brightness on and just 1 Google account synced too. :silly:

Figured out it was a hardware issue... there are two ways to check if you s6 heating issue is software or hardware related. install gsam battery monitor and see if kernel or android OS (apart from any third party app draining) is draining most battery than its a software issue.
otherwise its a hardware one. i got mine replaced and the new one works fine.
Hey guys. I'm from Brazil and I have just bought a Samsung Galaxy S6 (SM-G920I). My previous smartphone broke almost a month ago, so I may have gotten unused to a high end smartphone. It turns out that it is feeling warm during light use like browsing or Facebook. I can't tell if it started after the firmware update because it was one of the first things that I did when I turned it on for the first time. The temperatures that I am recording hovers around 38 °C to 44 °C. When I switch from Facebook to CPUz it is recording around 52 °C but starts dropping right away reaching around 43 °C. It is not hot, but it bugs me since it doesn't seem right to an octacore smartphone feel warm when browsing.
*I've just recorded a 1 minute video in ultra HD and when I switched to CPUz the temperature was at 70 °C, but also started to drop, stabilizing a little at 51 °C.
I've already cleared the cache and did a factory reset.
Do you guys think that I received a faulty smartphone?
I have the same problem on SM G920F which i bought several days before sometimes it goes around 36c battery and 63-64 cpu with no good reason for , like light usage(like messenger, snapchat) it works fine but its heating up and feels quite annoying for hand did anyone experienced same thing, and will buying a case for phone at least make feel better for hand?
Well, my phone was at 48 °C - 54 °C when it was in my front pocket and running only 4 apps on background (WhatsApp, CPUz, browsing, and outlook). It is not even hot in Brazil right now. Honestly it doesn't seem right!
It is normal. The CPU is just too powerful for heat to not build up.
Rest assured I played Walking War Robots on my phone for an hour and a half until my phone was hot enough for me to not be able to hold it comfortably. Nothing happened, I let it cool down for 10 minutes before Fast Charging it.
If it does not show any overheating message then it is not a problem.
Well considering it was built to be premium model its kinda dissapointing , like being 5 minutes on snapchat or 10 minutes of light usage makes him warm and a LOT of worse phones cant heat unless you like play games 10 minutes or really load them.If i put a case its heating like 10-15 % more.
I m suspicious because i havent seen a lot of people complaing about heating verry few people complainted about this. But phone is really great only problem (for me) is heating.

If it does not show any overheating message then it is not a problem.

Thank you, I appreciate it.
It makes sense that such a powerful CPU would generate some heat, but at the same time simple processes like these
shouldn't cause any level of warmness. I also checked the battery temperature which could be damaging for the phone
and it didn't raise the temperature as much the CPU. My phone had just 2 days of use, so I sent it back and I'm waiting for
a replacement. I will keep you posted.

I still think it's normal as I've seen the same thing on two different S6 Edge phones.
My S6 overheats too , it's annoying and sometimes even scary.

I've just received a replacement phone. It heats up the same as the old one. It would be so much bad lucky to receive two broken phones. I will assume it is normal and live with that. But I'm not happy with it...
