Going to Hong Kong and Singapore! Which phone should I buy? - General Questions and Answers

Hi All,
I'm an English musician and I work on cruise ships for a living. My current phone is a broken S6 Edge (battery heated up and expanded, Samsung won't repair as Knox has been tripped) so I'm looking for a new one. In May/June this year I will be getting shore-leave in Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Hong Kong. I'm quite hopeful of picking up a cheap flagship phone there, but can anyone recommend one that will work in Europe and USA? Should I be looking for a 'quadband' phone or something like that? And are there any flagship-quality phones from any of the smaller manufacturers that I should be looking out for, i.e. not just the bigger Samsung, LG, HTC, etc., and does anyone know how much I should be looking to spend (probably using US Dollars)?
I'd appreciate help from anyone who has experience with non-european/non-USA phones.
Thanks,

What to buy when overseas.

I will be travelling to China about July this year. I am in Australia & have an i-mate, & would like to purchase a gps package etc. Can anyone suggest if it is worthwhile & cheaper to purchase accessories o/s, & if so, what would be recommended .
mate,
as you're going to china; if you have a chance to pass by hong kong then i would surely recommend that you buy your stuff there. just make sure not to buy from your run-off the stores along the roads; in hk i would recommend the star city it center (kowloon side, ocean terminal near the ferry). i've been buying most of my electronics stuff from that area and i've been very happy for the past 4 years.
oh, prices should be a little more expensive (as compared to china)...then again i did run into a very nasty experience of buying an sd card from china. bloody thing wouldn't work when i used it in my ppc. tried to get my money back but that was as easy opening a beer with your toenails. since then i've been buying my stuff in hk since the place is very updated when it comes to electronics. bought my gps there last year; still working and no problems.
cheers then

[q] asus international warranty?

ok deal is that I go to us for 3 weeks on Tuesday - which nicely overlaps with Asus release date...
I'm undecided whether to buy it in states or when I come back home to uk.... it does work out considerably cheaper in US than in UK....
with dock its £100 cheaper in US... £330 vs £430
without dock difference is even greater
£240 vs £379...
so even if I had to pay VAT upon return to UK (which I'd like to avoid of course) that would still only be about £45 in VAT so still £100 cheaper for tablet only...
Now £100 out of £380 thats nearly 25%.... tempting...
so my question is, what's asus warranty like? would I be covered in UK with my US transformer?
Anyone?
Sent from my HTC Desire
I'd like to know this too.... I was planning on getting family in the US to buy one and then bring it over when they come to visit beginning of May. If there's no worldwide warranty then there may be a problem! Especially with the reports of dead pixels which I CANNOT stand!
I'm also considering doing this when I head over to the states later this year. Asus laptops have international warranty so I'm hoping their tablets will as well!
Can anybody who has one check the warranty paper that came with the transformer to see if it's worldwide?
Thanks

Yes the warranty card says 12 months global cover
Ripped off in the UK as usual.
I also see there were a few of our American cousins moaning about it not being available in the States. Well, that is how we generally feel in Europe as most thing are released first in the US - Games, films, tech etc etc. Right, moan over: I feel better now!
If I were you I'd get it from the States (even buy two and sell one for a small profit over here and you'd pay even less for yours!)
I'm in the UK and thinking of buying the Transformer Prime in the US for the cost saving. Hopefully it'll support global warranty cover like the original Transformer.
Does anyone what differences there'll be between the two devices and accessories that come with it?
I know it'll come with a US power cable and the default language would be English US. These are non issues as I can get a new UK power cable and change the language and regional settings to English UK.
Anything else I need to be aware of?

[Q] Where to buy cheaply HTC 7 Pro from?

Hi guys, I am from Bulgaria and I want to buy HTC 7 Pro. Here this phone is quite expensive so I want to find it somewhere cheaper. Please tell me some resplectable online resellers that have cheap offers for this phone and, of course, they deliver to Bulgaria.
Thanks.
P.S. The device must be new, unused, with warranty of course.
Is there anywhere a MediaMarkt in the near of you, i bought mine in Germany for 229€ in MM. and that's a really good price.
Try Amazon. They must have some stock that they're trying to get rid of or sth cause I got mine for £219 two weeks ago. I couldn't find a better deal even on eBay!
They are back up to around £400 at most places

[Q] Will buying S4 in USA work in Europe?

Hello.
I am from Norway, but I am going to the US this fall to study for half a year.
Now I own an old samsung Galaxy S1, but it's getting SO slow, and I was thinking about getting me a new S4.
The price for phones here in Norway is high and I can easily save 100-300$, so I was thinking about buying the phone in the states, sometime this fall.
It's gonna be either standard Samsung Galaxy S4 or the Samsung Galaxy S4 "Google Edition" (if that comes out).
What I am wondering is, will this work like normal, when I go back to Norway around X-mas time, or will there be problems with either the frequencies, 2G/3G/4G, SimCard or any other thing I might not have mentioned???
The power-grid in the US is different from EUROPE, i know, but i would assume that with a new charger that problem will be solved.
Hoping for some good news
Sincerely Magmanthe

Question S908E change screen

Hello,
I've bought my Galaxy S22 Ultra in the UAE in February, and I don't know how today my screen cracked.
Phone never felt, with protective case, was in my pocket. Anyway i'm not here for that.
I left the UAE last april, and now live if France.
UAE and Europe doesn't have the same model (S908E vs S908B)
My local store told me that he can't change my screen because pieces for the two models are differents.
Do you know if the screen really has differents references for each models? or if he totally bul**** me.
Anyway I'm stucked cause I can't apply for smart-repair-service from samsung french website, telling me that my product is not a valid model.
thanks for any lead you can provide
Ship it back in UAE and fix it there if Samsung.fr can't
Was your local store an actual Samsung store? If not, I recommend taking it to someone else, because the guy you talked to is full of s**t. I think he is just going by the model number of the phone and not the part number of the display.
Otherwise, you may need to send it directly to Samsung for repair.
