Hello.
I am from Norway, but I am going to the US this fall to study for half a year.
Now I own an old samsung Galaxy S1, but it's getting SO slow, and I was thinking about getting me a new S4.
The price for phones here in Norway is high and I can easily save 100-300$, so I was thinking about buying the phone in the states, sometime this fall.
It's gonna be either standard Samsung Galaxy S4 or the Samsung Galaxy S4 "Google Edition" (if that comes out).
What I am wondering is, will this work like normal, when I go back to Norway around X-mas time, or will there be problems with either the frequencies, 2G/3G/4G, SimCard or any other thing I might not have mentioned???
The power-grid in the US is different from EUROPE, i know, but i would assume that with a new charger that problem will be solved.
Hoping for some good news
Sincerely Magmanthe

So, after Christmas I should have $400-$450, and I'm looking for a new phone.
I'll probably get it off Kogan, so I'll list the prices for the phones I'm considering.
Galaxy Nexus - $349
One X - $399 (Sold out, not sure when it'll restock. I like this phone)
Galaxy Note - $449
Galaxy S3 - $499
Galaxy Note 2 - $569
Now, half of these are above my price range, but I could possibly get my mum to lend me money, I'm not sure.
I wanted to get the Nexus 4 originally, it's amazing, but it keeps selling out and I don't know how long it'll be until it comes back in stock. I'm sort of sick of waiting. I'm in Australia by the way.
I currently have a Nokia N8.
The most important things in a phone to me are:
Wi-fi Tethering (I have no home internet)
Listening to music
Facebook
Texting with Swype (So no WP8 phone)
And I want it to look nice. (I'd get the LG 4X but I don't like the look)
Really want a big screen with 720p display.
Preferably a phone with a quad core, this is what turns me off about the galaxy nexus, don't want an old phone. I like my shiny new hardware haha.

I think if youre adamant about quad core then that rules out the galaxy note. The main upside about the nexus devices is that they receive the latest and greatest updates first directly from google.
With the one X im assuming that its the international quad core version (in the US it is dual core). Thats probably what I would go with in terms of not giving up much functionality while still getting the most bang for your buck. You probably dont need me to tell you this but if youre willing to wait it out the nexus 4 is the clear cut choice.
Do any of y'all have one of these? I am considering buying it but I see nothing about it, just see it on ebay. From observation, it looks like a nice phone but no front camera. The post has specs and it doesn't have anything "special" I see but nothing bad besides 512 ram after a few looks but that or nothing else draws me away completely. I am just skeptical because no one seems to have it and I see little on Google. It was released in August this year and apparently was announced in July, according to the post. It could be one of these fake Chinese phones for all I know, it has the similarities. Cheap, unlocked, dual sims, 2G and 3G only, FM Radio, and the nice look.
I can spend $225 or so on phones. One will almost certainly be a Moto G, the other is so up in the air. I was thinking a refurbished Galaxy S3 for Boost Mobile since it's just $130 and I'll probably settle with those 2 if I get no replies. The Galaxy S3 has "Scratching/Scuffing possible on housing and screen". but it says it's fully functional and everything.
My family's AT&T contact is eligible for upgrade this October and I wondering what we should we get. Right now the 4 of us each have a Samsung Galaxy S4 and like them, but they are our only smart phone we have so we like to upgrade so we can have our S4s as good backup phones if anything happens. We don't want an iPhone or metal phone. I was interested in the Nexus 6 but I feel it might be too big for me (and I know it is to big for my sister, she needs a phone that be used one handed because of a physical disability, so I think nothing bigger than 5.2 at the maximum for her). We would like to try and wll have the same phone model, but not required as long as it is android.

I don't know, and specifically, don't care, if this question annoys, but I must see if someone knows. Can anyone explain the reason fo the major price flux when it comes to purchasing a refurbished, unlocked Samsung S4? 5.0, of course.
Same reason you get different prices on used cars. Different condition, different mods, different hardware(depending on which phone company and country the phone was from originally). And of course, some folks are just ripping you off.
Some phone companies will have the same phones with different chipsets, or more RAM, etc. If you can get model numbers for the phone, you can find what company it was made for.
Yep, the AT&T version of a phone might have different specs than one from Verizon, and an international model of the same phone might have extra sim card slots.
The phone name isn't as firm a description as needed.

In my country of origin Serbia, I paid 250 euros for a pretty nice 3,4 month old GT-9505, that was 18, 19 moths ago. With an oterbox commuter i bought for it and with current pricing here i will be able to sell it for 150 euros in the spring. Add onother 100 or such and get a v10 or a G4. Price of this phone is not falling at all here(looking on ebay is more or less a similar trend) even thou every other person is rocking an iphone 6 and galaxy s6 here. Supply and demand i guess.
But the flux you must be referring to is according to the exact model and state.

It is normal for it to be more expensive from my perspective
My advice is to skip any version of S4 as of now, get a G3 or a one plus x., or even get a galaxy s5 for the same money.
It looks like Samsung may have peaked with the S4. I definitely would not trade my S5 for the S6. And I have the S5 only because I skipped from the S3 and were no S4s around. The S5 is only a small step up, and the 6 is going backwards by losing the sdcard.
Right now, HTC m8 and asus zenfone 2 seem to be where I'd look.
Hi All,
I'm an English musician and I work on cruise ships for a living. My current phone is a broken S6 Edge (battery heated up and expanded, Samsung won't repair as Knox has been tripped) so I'm looking for a new one. In May/June this year I will be getting shore-leave in Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Hong Kong. I'm quite hopeful of picking up a cheap flagship phone there, but can anyone recommend one that will work in Europe and USA? Should I be looking for a 'quadband' phone or something like that? And are there any flagship-quality phones from any of the smaller manufacturers that I should be looking out for, i.e. not just the bigger Samsung, LG, HTC, etc., and does anyone know how much I should be looking to spend (probably using US Dollars)?
I'd appreciate help from anyone who has experience with non-european/non-USA phones.
Thanks,
