[ROM][6.0.1_r79] nAOSProm for Google Nexus 7 (2012) - Nexus 7 Android Development

nAOSProm-6.0 for Google Nexus 7 2012
The purpose of this rom is to provide a rom not so far of the AOSP with some cool features (nAOSP means "near AOSP").
It is fork of nAOSProm for Xperia S.
nAOSProm is stable, works very smoothly, works well with layers, xposed...
It has integrated Superuser app so superSU is not necessary, but it works well also if you flash it.
There are no FCs with Setup Wizard and Google Play services, when clean flashed together with gapps.

Flashing
nAOSProm can be dirty flashed over other AOSP-6.0 based roms (not from CM based). I recommend clean flash if you come from other roms.
Flashing Procedure
Clean flash
Backup everything
Reboot into recovery
Convert data / cache to F2FS
Backup /sdcard - adb pull /sdcard/ sdcard/
Change data to F2FS - in twrp go to Wipe, advanced wipe, select Data,
Repair or Change File System, Change File System, F2FS
Change cache to F2FS - same as for data
restore sdcard data - adb push sdcard /sdcard/
Wipe everything except sdcard
Unmount /system
Flash nAOSProm
Flash gapps - I recommend open gapps
Reboot
Dirty flash
Reboot into recovery
Flash nAOSProm
Flash gapps - I recommend open gapps - nano
Wipe cash & dalvik
Reboot
Upgrading from previous nAOSP versions
This ROM has OTA update feature - it periodically (once a week by default) checks for new versions and offers to download and install them. You can check for new version manually in Settings/About phone/Updates.
Before doing update you should set post update settings - other zip files (gapps, xposed) that should be flashed after rom update. Once you set post update you can use it for future updates, or you can set updated zips before every update. You can also add custom open recovery script commands. If you want to automatically reboot after upgrade you can enter reboot command into Post Update / Aditional script.
When flashing nAOSProm layers are preserved, so you don't need to worry about that upgrading.
You can also manually upgrade nAOSProm in twrp by dirty flashing.

Rom is pretty stable. There are occasional cpu hogs in chrome, but that is happening also in other aosp 6 based roms on nexus 7 and even in stock lolipop.
I didn't experience any random reboot, there are no Google Play Services and Setup Wizard FCs.
Xposed is working fine on it. Layers are working.
This is first release for Nexus 7.
It's unofficial.

Hi,
on my device encrypting the tablet doesn't work. The dialog opens and after confirming the tablet reboots but doesn't start to encrpyt.
I tried with F2FS and also EXT4 as file system.

Can you give me adb logs?
I didn't test encryption, since this is an old tablet and not very fast, so I believe that encryption will add additional overhead.

EDIT: Misread the above 2 posts, my reply was not relevant to that issue.
@millosr Thanks for the new b03 release, has some cool added features.

nAOSProm b03 released
Changes:
AOSP android-6.0.1_r24
Switched to daniel_hk kernel
Performance improvements
Added PerformanceControl app
Added Caffeine Quick Settings tile
New kernel with PerformanceControl has overclocking support and Double Tap To Wake feature (which can consume battery).
Performance improvements are done by tuning memory parameters in device/asus/grouper.
Additional tuning can be done through PerformanceControl.

Very Stable ROM!
I use the nAOSProm-6.0-tilapia-b03 and my single problem is that mobile internet doesn't work when it's in standby mode for a longer time. i can see the triangle on the top but it's empty so there is no internet. After restarting the Nexus 7 mobile internet works fine again. Is it possible to solve this bug?
EDIT: I forgot to say that when it's in standby mode for a longer time i always active flight mode before to save battery. after wake up the nexus 7 and deactivate flight mode there's the internet problem described above.
How to disable Double Tap to Sleep on the status bar?

I will check mobile internet problem.
There is no option to disable Double Tap to Sleep for now. I will maybe add it in the next build.

where can i get open gapps, please?
tilapia
I become everytime "Insufficient storage space available in System partition." when trying to install open gapps with TWRP

So, i found that i forgot to mount "system", thats why i got "insufficient space" message
I downloaded OpenGapps arm 6.0 mini, but now i get something like "this gapps version is incompatible with your Android Rom"

I'm using OpenGapps micro 6.0 arm, never had problems with it. Mini is too big for N7, since it has small system partition.
System doesn't need to be mounted, open gapps installation does the mounting.

I have tried this, and I'm getting gsm connection after turning off airplane mode. It just needs 30 seconds to reconnect.
Try to turn off mobile data, instead of going to airplane mode.

Are you doing clean flash, with micro open gapps?
Are you flashing anything else except rom and gapps?
Are you using TWRP 3.0.2 ?
You can also try nano or pico open gapps.
Nexus 7 system partition has only 640 MB. After flashing rom and gapps (micro) I have only 22 MB free. So supersu, exposed and layers can use additional space so that you cant install micro open gapps.

I wiped everything, formatted cache and data to f2fs, system still ext4. Flashed rom and directly after that trying to flash gapps.
Already tried to flash rom and boot it, before flashing gapps. No Luck
Yes, twrp 3.0.2

Have you tried nano or pico open gapps?
Can you send me twrp log - advanced, copy log, then transfer it to pc and send?
Can you also check partitions with "df" from adb shell, or from twrp terminal, but you need to mount system first?

I just installed this on my forgotten tilapia, so thanks!
Quick question: I see that on the Cyanogen's discussion they propose some performance tricks (journaling off, auto trim everyday and something called ParrotMod): should we take those suggestion or ignore them?
Thanks, will report back in a few days!

I'm not sure those things work with F2FS. You can try them if you want.

Old Baseband only. New one will be supported when I will have more free time.
Only beta6.6 and above configured to use 2.6.35 kernel!
Disclaimer:
I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
Known bugs:
Divx/xvid playback don't work (use MoboPlayer)
Strange crash in Camera (Restore defaults in video mode)
ADW: Widgets: crash after Choose Catalog
Empty device serial number (IMEI is ok, official firmware has same bug)
6.6.1 only: zoom need to be refixed
For apps2sd use Darktremor.
If you get bootloop or stuck at LG logo do next:
Sometimes Recovery can't format /system so you need to clear /system manually. You can do it with this zip (flash as always in recovery), or in mounts menu (clockworkmod recovery only), or with adb:
1. Mount /system in recovery.
2. adb shell rm -rf /system/*
You get 1 error. This is ok.
Will update if I found this bug.

Will be great.
I did not work with debuggin android system at device, but it must be not very hard. "About Phone" bug should be simple uninitialized variable (probably MAC address of wlan0). You can try to find out it. Maybe for this you need to build "eng" or "user-debug" version. Some info about debugging here. I'l try to do this too.
Sorry mik, it is #cyanogenmod-dev . I've edited my post.
Will love to try it.
Big cheers for mik_os and others (andy572)

great job mik!!!!

Sometimes recovery can't format /system so do this manually (In mounts submenu must be "format /system").
upd: AmonRa hasn't this future
You can remove all files from there:
1. Mount /system in recovery.
2. adb shell rm -rf /system
Will update if I found this bug.
After mounting I get this error: rm: cannot remove '/system/lost+found': Directory not empty and rm: cannot remove '/system': Device or resource busy

ROM2SD/DATA2SD USERS PLEASE READ!
ROM2SD only works if you have CROMBi-kk, CROMi-X or miniC flashed on internal with a THATv10+ kernel. Just choose ROM2SD in the installer of CROMBi-kk to flash it to ROM2SD and the installer will do the rest.
- Install CROMBi-kk and choose ROM2SD or DATA2SD install
The ROM2SD1.zip below is only needed if you need to switch your recovery to between normal and rom2sd mode. For Example you want to backup or restore a rom2sd installation. Flash once to go rom2sd and flash again to go back to normal. A reboot always puts you back to normal. Thanks to _that!

Using GParted to setup a micro SD for ROM2SD or DATA2SD support
First and foremost - DO NOT USE MINI TOOL!
Formatting a micro sd card for ROM2SD
Note for DATA2SD just do one partition in stead of 2
We will be using a GParted Live boot USB and a FAST good quality micro sd like a Sandisk or Samsung Class 10 - SDHC/SDXC UHS-1 card with read speed of at least 20MB/S. If you have a cheap chinese eBay card don't bother - they are not good enough.
You will also need a USB Stick with at least 1GB size. Note this process formats the USB disk so don't keep any important files on it. It will also wipe your micro sd so make sure you are prepared.
1. Go to the link below and download the GParted Live CD/USB/HD/PXE Bootable Image and save it somewhere you remember
http://gparted.sourceforge.net/download.php
2. Download Linux Live USB Creator and install it
http://www.linuxliveusb.com/
3. Fire up LiLi USB Creator:
a. Choose your USB key - I,e, the drive letter for your USB (not sd card)
b. Choose your GParted iso image for the source
c. Choose the check box to Format Key in FAT32 and hide files
d. Click the lightning bolt to create
4. Now you have a bootable disk you need to boot from it. You may need to alter you BIOS Settings on your PC to boot from a USB Stick but mine did it without messing.
5. Insert your micro SD card into an SD Card adapter and insert into PC
6. Boot into GParted
7. Choose Gparted Live <Enter>
8. Don’t touch keymap <Enter>
9. Languge <Enter>
10. Start Gparted Automatically
11. Change device to your micro sd )it will default to you hard disk - hda– mine is /dev/sdc
12. Delete all existing partitions
For a 64GB card: (resize as needed but /system doesn't need to be bigger than 1GB)
13. Create new, always select primary: do this 3 times.
14. FAT 32 : Size 16GB – this will be /dev/sdc1 in gparted and will be your sdcard for storage in Android
15. EXT4 : Size 42GB – this will be /dev/sdc2 in gparted and will be your /data partition in Android
16. EXT4 : Size 1GB – this will be /dev/sdc3 in gparted and will be your /system partition in Android (not needed for data2sd)
Apply, wait until it finishes and then reboot. Remember to remove the usb stick
*Images stolen from elsewhere as I couldn’t get it to save mine
Now you are ready to install ROM2SD. Note if you want to use DATA2SD then only do 2 partitions 1x FAT32 and 1x larger EXT4
Then reinstall CROMBi-kk but this time choose the ROM2SD / DATA2SD option

BIG RED WARNING ABOUT PEOPLE WHO THINK THEY ARE MISSING ROOT!
You are not. The way CM11 works is root is not enabled by default after a clean install. Here is how you enable it.
1. Enable developer options by clicking the build number 7 times in settings - about tablet
2. Go to developer settings
3. In the first section click Root access and change to Apps and ADB
Enjoy your rooted rom

Nice, looking forward to it, this will be my first CM rom on this bad boy!!
You are all fantastic that made this possible. Wooow will gonna try this out for sure.
Just setting up uploads for post 2 - bear with me please
In case anyone wants to try it ... in the download section of this ROM you'll also find an unofficial pre-release of TWRP 2.7 compiled by me (2.6.3-that3) that supports both JB and KK ZIPs. I can't say anything about its quality, but the devs of this ROM have tested it. The GUI is much more fluid than in earlier versions.
Note: lj said that formatting data with this recovery takes a very long time (in the order of 1-2 hours) - be patient. It is not only formatting your data, it also trims unused blocks afterwards, and you know our internal storage is not the fastest... but the advantage is that in normal use it will then find enough empty flash blocks so writes will be faster.
Downloads are up - go crazy! :fingers-crossed:
Ok, installed it affer Wipe Data/Factory reset. Upon booting keep getting this message "Unfortunately, the process android.process.media has stopped". I dont have catlog installed yet, but what info do you need, I am assuming a logcat.

Yes a logcat is what we need... If you have any quetions about pulling a logcat we can talk about that in the Q&A section for sure... Thx lj
If you would like to give the recovery in the download section a try that wold be great to.. Just read the FAQ in the Q&A section...
I unsuccessfully tried to install CROMBi-KK as ROM2SD.
Just the facts:
CROMi-X 5.4 on internal
TWRP 2.6.3.1
Flashed rom2sd1 and formatted /data on the external.
Rebooted to internal system
Rebooted into TWRP
Flashed CROMBi-KK as rom2sd with the modified _that v8 kernel.
Installation seemed to go ok - did not notice anything unusual (as in: it taking way long or finishing under a minute etc.)
Back to home in TWRP and flashed rom2sd1 as per instructions although I was wondering:
The Aroma installer changes the mount points so TWRP can flash to the external partitions, right? And the mount points get reset to normal when you reboot or flash rom2sd1 again, right? So if you flash gapps right after the rom flash - why flash rom2sd1? Wouldn't that change the mount points to the internal again????
Anyway, I flashed gapps after flashing rom2sd1 and it failed: Got a warning like: "This package is only for KK roms...." - so I kinda suspect I turned TWRP towards internal with that rom2sd1 flash.....
Ok, I thought, I'll flash gapps later. Rebooted system and got to the preinit script starting. Next thing is a blank screen - nothing happening for 10 minutes. No boot animation, no nothing.
Attached the tab to PC, tried to run a logcat in adb, but got no connection.
Long pressed power and took the card out when it rebooted to boot the internal.
Got to preinit starting, next is a blank screen - nothing happening at all.
TWRP log is attached
I would try it again with another kernel, but it's getting late. I'm leaving for a two week work trip tomorrow and will not take the TF700. The TF701 is going to get road tested ... and then unlocked - finally!
Maybe it's a fluke, maybe it's the card (although CM10.2 was running fine on it) - I'm sure you guys have it all worked out when I try the next time.
Exciting times again! Almost wrote: on this forum. But actually the different CROMi threads should have their own section - would save us a lot of back and forth! LOL
BTW, much fun with trying to separate Q&A and dev sections - this crowd is used to hang out in the CROMi threads and the community aspect of it should not be underestimated. I understand why you'd like to keep it separate, but I'm afraid the policing necessary to enforce it would change the "atmosphere" around here quite a bit.
Agreed mate. The policing will get tiresome but it will help whilst Dev is necessary.
So onto your problem with rom2sd.
I built the rom2sd1 zip script into the installer and call it twice once at the start so it installs to SD and again at the end to revert back to normal.
I didn't want the user left thinking one thing but the ROM forcing another.
But you just gave me an idea of how the gapps package can auto detect which one it should use
BTW, I flashed the rom2sd version many times and it does work. Pm me when you get up and I'll talk you through it.

All I know is its the way XDA would like it to be done... It would seem to me, as they have provided this very impressive platform for us to use....For free, I will do what I can to, help them reach there goals.... Thx lj:good:

Have flashed _that recovery, wiped top four options SD, flashed ROM2SD, rebooted recovery, flashed ROM2SD1, installed gapps, waited 20 minutes with boot animation. Not loading. Restored backup. All good. Think it's looping.

Can you provide a logcat of the bootloop please. Search for how to do a logcat over adb if you are unsure. :good:

Yes for some people it seems the installer is not managing rom2sd properly. I'll have a look later.
All the people that had this problem can you
a) tell me the recovery you are using
b) provide the aroma log from the end of the ROM flash please.
Thank you!
What more can you tell us about TWRP 2.6.3-that3? Is this unique to installing your CROMBi-kk or can we use it on any Rom that installs on the TF700? So if I already have TWRP 2.6.3.1 installed, do I need to flash TWRP 2.6.3-that3 first or just press on with what is installed. Is there a thread or change log for TWRP 2.6.3-that3?
Thanks

2.6.3.1 should be fine. That's is a fixed up version of 2.6.3.x or are 2.7 release I think. No changelog avail the moment but I know they implemented his fixes into official 2.7 which is coming soon I believe.

* Your probably long expired warranty is now void.
*
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you
* and point my finger right back at you.
*/
Installation Instructions
Make sure you have a second partition on your SD card formatted to ext4 before flashing!!!! This can be created with either CWM recovery or with TWRP. gparted on Linux should also work. If you "SD card not supported" try repartitionning. If you get "Encryption unsuccesful" then you need to format the second partition as ext4 (or f2fs, your choice).
If on a BML rom (stock-based GB)...
1. Reboot to recovery
2. Make sure your version of CWM is at least 5.x
3. Install zip. It will reboot a couple of times, don't be worried.
4. If you want gapps, reboot to recovery, wipe data+cache and install gapps.
5. If you want root, flash SuperSU whenever
If on an MTD rom (CM7 and all ICS+)
1. Reboot to recovery
2. Wipe data, dalvik/art cache, system, and cache partitions
3. Install zip
4. If you want root or Gapps, install them now.
The first boot can take several minutes. Be patient. If it takes 10+ minutes, pull the battery and reboot to recovery.
Things to Take Note Of
I actually have a T959P, not a T959V... It was released by Telus in Canada. It is a very similar device (I can run ROMs for the T959V with limited problems - ie sometimes I get wakelocks and the gps never works), it has a different GPS chipset and also uses different cell bands (but I can still use your guys modems but I lose access to the 850Mhz band). I have created a build specifically for the T959V as best as I can guess.
Bluetooth only enables from the notification pulldown, not when you go directly to settings. It does work just fine afterwards though
If you're coming from either the last Lollipop build or the initial pre-release Marshmallow build, there is a bug in TWRP that will prevent flashing anything but the ROM. To get around this, please flash the Marshmallow zip, then reboot to recovery, and then follow the typical instructions.
If you decide to install gapps at a later date (ie after you've installed the ROM), you must do a factory reset first - otherwise you will get force-closes upon bootup
If you come across a bug, feel free to let me know by posting in this thread. I will not be working non-stop on this project, but will try to fix bugs that affect me as this is still my main phone (out of choice, not necessity).
This build is very close to the official omni source code. This means that the recovery is TWRP and there aren't any added "features"
In order to get it rooted, you need to install SuperSu.
Gapps eat up about an extra 30MB of RAM so they slow down the device - tread carefully.
Backup Backup Backup! I'm not responsible for you losing any data.

Powered-off charging animation - works at first, but then stops working. Seems to be an Omni problem, but it still charges...
What doesn't
SElinux is currently in permissive mode. Will not be going to enforcing, this would require a data wipe as well
What's been removed
TV-Out - It was removed upstream plus I think binary blobs would need a ton of shimming in Lollipop+
Everything else is not tested!!!

Thanks Time!
Thanks Time!
This would not have been possible without the following people:
Thanks to humberos for bringing Lollipop to the first-gen Galaxy S series. This would not have been possible without his work.
Thanks to FB and Dao for their work on the CM-11 device tree. I used several of their fixes.
Thanks to noiphonehere for his device trees and kernel, most of my work was based off of his.
Thanks to the OMAP4 AOSP team for their work on porting CMA to a 3.0 kernel.
Thanks to bhundven and the other members of teamacid for their work on the aries kernel.
Thanks to all others that have helped get this phone to where it is today!
Thanks to vcmerritt. A name you're probably not familiar with, but he was the only one to create something for the T959P and without him I'd still be on stock...
Build your own!
Follow the instructions at http://docs.omnirom.org/Setting_Up_A_Compile_Environment using the android-6.0 branch
Before doing a repo sync, put the galaxy_s_series.xml file from the Downloads folder in .repo/local_manifests folder of the source tree (create the local_manifests folder if necessary).
After syncing the source, open a terminal and in the directory where you downloaded the source code type "./device/samsung/aries-common/patches/apply_patches.sh" to apply the patches necessary to have a working build. Then run "source ./build/envsetup.sh" and then "brunch galaxys4gmtd". For future builds, only the envsetup and the brunch parts are necessary. Please note that you will have to re-run the apply_patches.sh script after each time that you run repo sync. (Note: the patch script no longer runs automatically)
You should be able to use my trees for other first-gen galaxy S devices. You will need to apply a patch similar to https://github.com/xc-racer99/andro...mmit/fe6bc6b82881a12fc4a5647812f3cf0f52f79c6a to your device tree (if coming from Omni 5.1). I haven't done anything to P1 trees and may have broken the kernel for it...

First unified build (ie it works on both the T959P and T959V)
Screen recording now works in portrait mode
MMS should be able to be sent when data is disabled (will still use data though)
Default Camera app portrait photos are no longer square
SuperSU systemless updated to 2.76
Slightly less audio latency with UI sounds (and some sounds have changed)
Data should also be working on boot
Slight changes to battery and graphics config
Security patch level of August 5, 2016 (I'm a time traveller...)

Gapps
Gapps cause the first boot to be very, very laggy. Things do improve after that. The best way to get through the Setup Wizard (IMO) is to skip everything possible (ie connecting to Wifi, settings up a Google Account, etc) and then reboot. You can manually add a Google Account later in Settings. While any (small) Marshmallow gapps should work, I have had success with OpenGapps pico package from www.opengapps.org (untested on recent builds).
SuperSu
SuperSu can be found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu. If on May 2016+ builds, systemless 2.71 works (other systemless versions may work, untested). If you're on an older build, you need to either force system mode (create a file in /system or /data called .supersu with the contents "SYSTEMLESS=false") or use an older version (ie version 2.52 or earlier). August 2016 build updates the systemless to 2.76.
Woooow thanks
As you suggested, Gapps caused lots of problems...made the ROM very slow and laggy, lots of FC's, lots of random reboots, etc. I re-flashed without Gapps. Was able to restore apps with TB and root with SuperSu. The basics...calling, browsing, messaging, camera...are working fine. Haven't taken it for a ride yet, but GPS test picked up 5 satellites and I haven't even taken it outside yet. If I desperately need another app, I guess I can find the .apk somewhere. Since I did a TWRP backup, maybe next week I'll try the pico gapps again and see what happens. At any rate, wonderful work.
Update: Took it out for a spin this afternoon....GPS works fine.
Been running the 1/7 for a few days. loving it so far
New Build Uploaded!
Alright, I've uploaded a new build
Changelog for 2016-01-23
Updated Omni Source code
Fixed Google Play (and other apps) download error (I think...)
New bootanimation - Its the new Omni one - it doesn't fit on our screen the best but it doesn't have one section lit up all the time so the screen doesn't burn in like the old one
Freed a bit more RAM
Improved zRAM performance by using LZ4 instead of LZO
I've also uploaded a T959P build as I had a request for one. Let me know if you guys find any more bugs.
New build flashed fine although I had to re-flash the SuperSU zip...no problem since I already had it on my SD card. I'll let it rest up for a day or two and then I'll try to flash the pico-gapps and see if it
will run smoothly....good job.

Sounds good. Do note that when/if you flash gapps, you will need to do a complete data wipe first, otherwise you will get force-closes like crazy.
I've always just reflashed SuperSU manually and never relied on the script to restore it so I can't help you there.
Tried to install over MTD SlimSaber with TWRP 2.7.0.0, kept getting Status: 7 error with updater.sh script.
Any way to fix this?
Thanks in advance.

Hmm, going back to to stock with a OneClick/Heimdall/Odin will work for sure.
Alternatively, check if there is an omni.cfg file on your SD card. If there is, delete it and try again. Also, if you can get me the exact wording of the error output that would be great, along with the omni_mtd.log file from the SDcard.

I will Heimdall One-Click back to KJ6 and reflash the ROM after checking for the omni.cfg, and will quote the output and the log if I get another error.
I'll be back by 5:00pm PST. I have school to take care of.
UPDATE:
Tried again after a full wipe [not a restore to stock] and got this:
Installing '/sdcard/omni-6.0.1-20160123_galaxys4gmtd-HOMEMADE.zip'...

Skipping MD5 check: no MD5 file found.

Is there any kernel/recovery you recommend for flashing after restoring to stock?
I've tried before on AntonX Voodoo Lagfix recovery and got a similar error.

I typically used the Blastoff kernel, but I have my own one-click as I have a Canadian variant.
Also, the omni_mtd.log will tell which part of the updater.sh failed. Another thing to check is if you have a second partition on your SD card. This ROM requires one as /data is put there.

I'll try out Blastoff if I can find it. But it probably failed because I did not partition my sdcard. I'll see if that helps later.
Thanks a lot.

Hey, xc-racer99, after about four assorted blind attempts at installing your work, I flashed back to stock/AntonX kernel with Heimdall and full wiped, then used CWM to create a 4GB partition on my sdcard. The ROM installed through CWM, then TWRP without an error and booted up after fifteen minutes or so of OMNI animation, and is running on my SGS4G without any issues. The only noticeable lag was for the first five minutes after the initial boot. Now my device is gliding smoothly after a few tweaks in the performance settings and turning off background processes. Thank you so very much.
Next time, I'll read the entire post before blundering through the install process with the assumption that I know what I'm doing [as usual].
Sorry for the trouble, if indeed I was any.

Finally got pico gapps to run...the initial setup took quite a while but now that it's settled in, no problems. It's also interesting to note that Link2SD is running fine while it seems to be a major problem for other Lollipop & Marshmallow ROM's on other devices.

[ROM][9.0][grus][unofficial] HavocOS v2.7

HavocOS v2.7 22/07/2019
During my spare time doing some experiments with custom ROM building for MI9SE, so decided to share may be it'll be useful for those who like AOSP expirience instead of "polished" MIUI.
Compared to "general GSI" images it feels much better and almost everything works at first glance, but need to test more of course..
BUGS:
There are some for sure, waiting to be discovered..
TODO
Fix SELinux policy. Keep it as "permissive" as for now.
Installation & Requirements
Reqs:
1. Unlocked BL and TWRP installed
2. Running MIUI global or PE (yep, it's all about Treble so we're going to use vendor's blob and firmware)
Installation
1. Boot into twrp, format data, swipe to factory reset, reboot back into twrp
2. flash Havoc-OS-v2.7-20190722-grus-Unofficial.zip
3. Flash gapps & magisk (if needed)
4. Reboot and pray || enjoy !
5. In case of bootloop (for me everything works without this step): flash vbmeta.img with fastboot --disable-verity --disable-verification flash vbmeta vbmeta.img (check GSI topics to obtain vbmeta file)

I have a few questions:
1) format data - do you really mean format data? Do I have to wipe internal storage completely or do you mean "wipe data, cache, dalvik cache"?
2) which ROMs work as base ROM? is Xiaomi.eu beta possible? Or only official global rom?
3) coming from MIUI - will encryption be a problem at any point during installation? I would like to try your rom but I don't really want to risk loosing my internal storage due to encryption problems...

1. Yes, Format the entire data, if you're come from anything besides this ROM itself.
3. Yup, for example; even if flashing back the Global Stable from Xiaomi.eu's ROM, you can't keep your encrypted data too. So, that's why you should format the data
Definitely going to try this as I'm using the GSI and it's working great.
Hope the ANX camera works in this one.
Can i use miui dev to flash this rom?
Btw, can you add dc dimming in this rom?
- Wlan, Mobile Data, NFC : works.
- Camera (normal, wide, front) : works pretty well (I'm using MGC_6.2.030_MI9SE_V4_plus2 right now).
- Fingerprint : works as expected like the GSI's version (not as fast as miui and don't expect for an FOD while screen off or in ambient display).
- Double tap to wake : perfect (yes it is).
Bugs that I know :
- Statusbar is untouchable. (I have to back to the launcher since it has swipe down gesture if I want to saw notification/qs)
- MTP is recognized but I can't open it on my system (Arch Linux x86_64, Thunar FM from xfce4 desktop)
- No Smart Lock or Face Unlock option yet
Status :
- Havoc v2.7 w/ the built-in kernel.
- OpenGapps arm64 9.0 nano (build 20190704)
- Magisk 19.3 stable

Only way to pull down the status bar is from the notch, or changing the "display cutout" to tall display cutout in the developer options.

Thx for the report!
Trying to figure out wtf is wrong with notifications pulldown menu, currently it can be pulled from the notch area or landscape mode only.
Btw MTP works OK on MacOS as for me.
Please add face unlock. I'm so used to it that I don't use fingerprint anymore.

Seems I've messed up something while playing with touchscreen fresh firmware and drivers..
Flashing can be considered as a temporary fix at the moment.
Going to use upstream okita in the next build.

Thanks to @bartekm01 for helping test SM-T325.
Congratulations to @Valera1978 - working very well on my T325

Does mobile data works on this Version?
Valera1978, thanks for building Q. I don't have time to download and test Q, but will after Dec 20.
I will move from Pie to Q on that date.
Outstanding job!
Any chance of an SM-T525 build of Q?
Works amazing. I changed animation scale to .5 on all 3 options and it seems speedier and not so choppy. This tablet is still amazing, GREAT JOB Valera1978.
Another happy soul here. This build works flawlessly on T320 and can imagine it will only get better and better.
A minor bug, doesn't bother me at all though. Settings > System > Status bar > battery status style, changing to circle or text doesn't change the battery icon (vertical bar) in the status bar.
Man you are amazing !
an incredible job ....
two small problems, the battery in text format does not work and the voice synthesis is inactive.
Édit: voice synthesis ok with opengapps
dirty flash?
Did you try a dirty flash (LOS and gapps), coming from your LOS 16 version?
Except for the problem that the microphone is very quiet, LOS16 works very well.
What points should be highlighted that represent an advantage of LOS17 over LOS16?
connecting my t320 to pc with usb and choosing file sharing option makes the tablet reboot
WiFi switch on not working on my SM- T 320.
If I switch WiFi on , it changes directly back to off .
I done a Clean install .

here too all working, format data before , but no root and magisk causes error on supercell games, and lockscreen still on portrait mode when in landscape. netflix 6.26.1 works too. thanks again for all effort
Awesome tried open gapps (11/14) first but it had bugs with various features (setting icon don't work in notification pulldown), setting up lockscreen and probably a bunch of other bugs.
BitGapps seem to work good so far (although no first setup screen), overall rom is fast and smooth, it doesn't pass safetynet but not a big deal, thanks again for making this happen, amazing we have 10 on this device now.
Installed all my usual apps and no apparent issues, camera, and video also work!
Wifi (5ghz) seems very stable with new driver, and even gets better range.
OK update on the safteynet issue, I found that "Petnoire's_SafetyNet_Spoofer" Magisk module made it pass both checks and also the play certification (tried some of the other modules but they failed to make it pass).
You can either use his stock module (which will set it to a xiaomi device fingerprint) or use my modification (which will make it a SM-T320), I only modified it to use the correct build fingerprint for this tablet, so yea rom is fully awesome now
(after installing the module and rebooting , don't forget to force stop the playstore and clear both cache and storage)
this might also work on the Android 9 rom too, but I have only tested it on 10 so far.
Not working on latest build: will see if I can fix.
T325 full wipe + Data format.
TWRP 3.3.1-0 (without EFS backup option although found acc to recovery log of LOS 13) to flash ROM, BitGapps + Magisk gave an error 1 for Magisk.
Had to flash it separately to get it working.
Started without logon screen to Google which was fine for me.
IMEI + SIM gone and no mobile data.
With Odin 3.13. back to Stock -> got my IMEI back with mobile data as well.
Reflashed TWRP + LOS17 gapps and, in a second flash, Magisk.
WiFi is fine but again neither SIM nor mobile data.
EFS partition still existing.
Am not able to install saved apps with totalcammnder although it's a secure source.
Always telling me it can't open the file even the freshly downloaded XDA-labs.apk.
Installations from Playstore and F-Droid working.

I also have the same problem with my SM-T320 after a clean install. My WiFi just doesn't want to turn on.
@Valera1978 can anything be done about the microphone volume? I record video but can barely hear anything on playback.
Screencast/Miracast is also broken system softreboots when trying to connect., not sure if these are fixable but just thought id let you know
.
