Hey guys i have a question for you about youtube playback on my one a9. it seem that my device cant buffer fast enough to play hd video. This happens on both my 4g lte with full bars and with my wifi twc 100 turbo. on my speed test.net i avg 80 and lte get in the high 50 low 60. by default it always starts playing at 144 then i switch to 1080 or even 720 and it just cant keep up.
Anyone else having this issue or have any help for me would be great

Are you running CyanogenMod 13? If so, switch back to stock ROM, I am currently facing issues with data speeds in cm13, and switching to stock helped... if you are already on the stock ROM, then you could do two things I can think of at the moment; 1) you just need to reboot, it refreshes the device and makes it better for a bit, 2) full wipe, it should help dearly with performance and may get rid of the cause of this problem

I haven't had a chance to update mine, does the 3.1 fix the issue with the Youtube HD video playback? it wasn't smooth on the 3.0.1.
on the App it was smooth.
Didnt get a chance to try it off the browser, but im reading people saying its still laggy

That's disappointing..
YouTube app is much smoother, but it seems to pause a lot for buffering. So what's worse, pauses for buffering or choppy playback and missed frames?

same here on the FIOS which makes me wonder how much of the choppy/buffering problems are based on wifi speed/strength.
So looks like the HD playback in the App is no longer choppy, I think it's good enough for me. Hope there is a fix for the x264 playback, but I guess I am asking for too much.
Just getting a chance to test this.

Youtube app in HD mode , no stutter or buffering
Youtube web site @ 720, slow framerate 10-15FPS
Can anyone tell me where on the app you can select the multiple resolutions that you see in the browser window. I don't know if I was watching the 720 or the 1080.

What's the issue with FIOS? I thought it was crazy high speed. Is it high latency or something?

i meant that perhaps signal strength and speed is probably whats giving people issues while streaming.
say for instance, if theyre trying to stream videos off a motel 6 wifi vs their own home service
what I meant was I have fios and no buffering issues which leads me to believe the person with buffering issues has a **** connection.

I've noticed the buffering to be an issue with both 3.0.1 & 3.1. Not sure what the cause is, I don't think it's my network as it'll be stuck buffering one moment, then the next moment it has no issues.
My network is 20mbs and runs super fast with everything else...

I've seen this happen on my TF and on desktop and phone. It's an issue with youtube I think. Sometimes the intertubes get full. Reloading or waiting out the congestion is the only thing to do.
Also, no stuttering or lag of any kind on my TF as of 3.1. This puppy finally runs like it should.
I recently upgraded the latest (3.1) version and the Youtube's HD videos works smoothly. Not any jerks or continuous loading.
Has anyone noticed on the Youtube app that full screen orients only one way (with the Asus logo on top left). Even if I have the screen turned with the Asus logo on the bottom right, as soon as I hit the full screen, it will show upside down. This is with the Youtube app.
I'm running GTA 3 v1.3 on my Note and I'm noticing some stutter. Not stutter as in low framerate, but some micro-hangs when driving around. Framerate is very good, but this stutter is not normal. My Galaxy S, while running at a much lower framerate and no audio doesn't exhibit this. It's like read speeds from the internal SD aren't high enough to stream data to the RAM, and this leads to lag. Anyone else having this?
I'm running stock LA4, stock CPU,very few apps installed. Could this be ROM related? I didn't notice this in videos of GTA3 on the Note on YouTube.
Any ideas?
Galaxy S: 800x480
Galaxy Note: 1280x800
The Note has to push A LOT more pixels than the S. GTA doesn't stutter here, but i'm running custom kernel, Franco #7 on LB1 deodexed w/ few stock apps ++.
I'm not talking about framerates. Framerates are high. This is the kind of stutter like there isn't enough RAM.
The only explanation I can give is that SD-card read rates are not high enough.
Hasn't anyone else experienced this on stock ROMs?
Please, can anyone check this on their Note? I'm running LB1 with franco-7 kernel and this is still present. Framerate is even higher now (with frame limiter off, ofcourse) due to the 400 Mhz GPU clock, but it still stutters. This didn't happen on GTA 3 v1.0 when I first tried it when it came out. It could be GTA's fault and not the phone's.
It does this no matter the graphics settings. Even on lowest resolution and view distance and everything else off...
Thanks for the help.
I haven't been playing all that much, but I definitely have had some hangups too, about 0.3-0.5 seconds long.
I assume this is GTA related problems, some caching might be done in the main thread only when certain models/textures are needed, causing the lags. I played several HD games, and others seem to be better at smooth performance.
I had the same problem initially. It would pause for a split second every once in awhile.
Inadvertently because I had just got my phone and was just testing - I had to reinstall and it seemed to run perfectly. I don't know if it's a different version/update (how do you tell?) but I believe it was GTA Anniversary Edition 1.03
Yeah mines the same hangs for a split second maybe once every half hour or something. Not a major issue, its never really bothered me with it not happening very often.

you need to uncheck something from graphic setting mate. if i remember well was lowering viewing distance or something like that... it worked for me after.give it a shot.
I have a problem where it vibrates randomly... Any ideas
No one encountered this?
Yeah, vibrates randomly for me too.
I don't know about the stutter. Don't think this is the phone. It used to run nice and now, despite the good framerate it stutters like mad. Really annoying. Or maybe the borked something in the latest update (v1.3).

Try turning vibration feedback off. Its in options>audio>vibration feedback.
I made it much smoother by unselecting the Max frame rate option I believe, I also installed chainfires 3d app so that may have also contributed.

So I searched the forum for 'Twitch' and wasn't able to find anything, and I'm seeing spotty answers to whether or not the MK 808/9 can handle streaming from Twitch.tv. I'm OK with fiddling with firmware as well as going Ethernet in order to get the results I'm after, but can anyone give me some real world information on how well these devices handle streaming from Twitch at 720 or 1080? I've spent a lot of time looking for solid answers to this question and I just can't seem to find anything.
u can watch 720p without a problem, but 1080p doesnt work.. too much stuttering
i increased cpu from 1200mhz to 1416mhz and its getting better, but unwatchable (maybe it works with 1.6ghz, but u will need a good cpu cooler, dunno )
so... if the twitch user streams in 1080p (or even higher) and u cant change the resolution.. you´ve got a problem.
iam using finless 1.7c firmware with 2dark4u 1080p Kernel, but im thinking in few months u can watch 1080p without a problem.
btw. 1080p Youtube videos work absolutly fine.
Edit: im using MK808
I listen to allot of online radio eg 'tunein' and mp3 stored on my phone, problem is that this phone plays back audio choppy when the screen times out.
This happeneds esspecially when streaming audio - its intermittent with mp3s..I have had allot of phone and Ive never ever had this kinda problem before...
Im rooted and have played with the stock kernel settings abit but have no change in behavior,.. Anyone know what I can do here? I hate to have one of the most advanced unusable phones ever

When I was on my Note 2 I had to increase the low end on the cpu speed. I think the Lowest I could use was 400 to 500 (sleep mode) I own the setcpu pro app so it was easy to adjust. Give that a look see. Every time the screen went off while Bluetooth was on it would skip and shutter. I noticed today my Edge seems to have the same problem.

Hey, you too eh? hmm,.. I tried raising the cpu limit with no change,.. mine does stay awake on bluetooth only... anywho, there is not much I can do with the stock kernel., I tried just about everything, scripts, build hacks,.. no I noticed that Wifi does not stay connected and only gets max 3mps - Ive been thru 2 phones and this Canadian version is buggy, have no problems with my note 3 or my LG , wish I could figure all this out. or wait for a custom rom/kernel for my variant

Make sure power saving mode is off if not try turning that off and it may resolve the issue.
Also like in one of my previous posts on my device anyway I've been experiencing what I'd describe as antenna issues. Both wifi drops and blue tooth cuts in and out. Doesn't matter if the screen is on or off for me
when I experience these issues.
Hi,
I have an issue on my phone, Netflix is only playing back in really low resolution. I noticed it looked noticeably worse on my phone than on my pc, even though the resolution of my phone is higher than my pc's display, which is 1440p. It's weird cause I have been able to watch it at hd back when I first got the phone a year ago.
I have the most expensive netflix package, so that can't be the issue. I have enabled high quality playback in both my browser and in the android app, I've check my phone to be on the list of devices that support HD playback so I really dont know what it could be.
I've checked with those "test patterns", they say it plays back at 960x540, thats not what im paying for. No matter what movie or series I try watching on my phone, even shows like the crown which i know to be available in 4k dont look good.
Does anyone know what it could be or something I could try?
I've also tried contacting support but they just tell me that it's my internet though I simply know its not. My internet is plenty fast, I play back at way higher res on my pc which is on the same network. Either way its fast enough, 50 up and 50 down.
So on your PC or home screen you get 4K just fine, but your phone (data) is not streaming in any HD?
If so I'd guess the phone company might be fux'in with you. See if someone else gets Netflix on their phone and how their HD streaming goes. All
ok there, then try your Netflix account on someone else's phone. You will solve this. You just need a bit more info until the ah moment.
