How to Unroot My LGG3 (No PC) - XDA Assist

Hi! I have no clue how to unroot my LGG3. I did not even root it, it came like that in the box. It really makes me question how LG handles their products, am I really getting a new phone or just an old one that will void my warranty, plz help!

....i wanted to be sure on this, because i never saw a definitive answer.... if i root my Captivate, does it hinder at all my ability to upgrade to Froyo at a later time? i know it voids warranty and all, but that im not so concerned about, because removing su should remove all noticeable traces of a root id think..... but definitely dont want to lose my ability to upgrade whenever Samsung and AT&T get that done....

From all the reading I've gathered, you will be able to get Froyo update whenever Samsung releases it, but it is advised to check back here to see if the update breaks the root or not. And until you find out, you can always deny the update to Froyo on your phone.
ok, so if i root, ill still be able to upgrade to Froyo, it just might break the root? i see so many reasons around TO root, BUT dont wanna hinder Froyo when it becomes available. is there a way to REVERSE a root though, just in case i DO need to make a warranty claim or something?
You can reverse a root by using the Odin3 launcher with the built-in stock firmware that you can find elsewhere on this forum. I haven't tested it myself (Odin3 doesn't like Linux ) but from reports by others it should make your device exactly as it was when you bought it. Thus, no warranty issue, and a perfectly clean slate to upgrade from.
If you want to upgrade straight from the rooted 2.1 to 2.2 when it comes out, just wait a little bit for some people who know their stuff to post whether it goes smoothly or needs some fiddling.

pro's and con's about Rooting my evo

I'm thinking of Rooting my Evo,
but i need to know why i should and why i shouldn't
because i really wanna have wifi tethering and make it soo much faster and have it autokill crap,i dont know.
but i still wanna have my OTA updates.
i mean c'mon who doesn't want their honeycomb or gingerbread on their phones.
HELP ME=]
There's only one downside to rooting, as far as I know, and that's that it will void your warranty. Some amateur lawyer types claim that your carrier and HTC can't deny you service over this, but I wouldn't try to fight the law on that one.
Instead, all you need to do is make a backup of your phone as it is now (locked, with the original settings). Then go ahead and root it.
If you ever need to return the phone for an exchange or warranty claim or whatever, you simply restore that backup you made. The phone will be back to its factory settings and they'll never know you rooted it.
An explanation of the backup process is here:

root still allows you to get OTA updates, and you can always unroot and no one will be able to tell you rooted, so no downside really besides the very very very small percentage that you will brick your phone while doing it

the issue im having is constantly taking screencaspture's when i press home without pressing the off/lock key i have had a read about and been told it can be fixed but i need to "ROOT" my device first, now im a complete newb to android or anything technical (loving my droid thou) and just want to know does rooting affect the warranty at all? and could any old idiot do it? i.e. me!

[Q] G2X Issues

How will I fix the software/hardware freezing, delay in hanging up the phone, random reboots, etc if I did not root my phone? LG said to send it in but I don't have a warranty since I bought a refurb off Ebay. T-Mobile probably cannot do anything either. I just want my phone to be fixed without costing me too much money. Can ICS be a solution if I can manually update my phone since I get an error message when I try to update my phone normally?
Root it, add a custom ROM. All issues solved.
Will rooting it be easy? I have very little experience with the file extensions on Android. I only worked on unlocking iPhones but I got consistant error messages when I tried to unlock those. I just don't want to brick my phone. I bearly know about some of the terms lol. Can you give me a link to a good root setup?

It wasn't that hard at all for me, just follow the directions and you'll be fine.

Is your phone on 2.2.2 or 2.3.3? Also, LG will do warranty work on a phone 18 months from the date of manufacture if you do not have proof of purchase. They don't have to know you bought it second hand. If you tell them then you have no warranty. But if you don't mention anything, get an RMA and sent it in, most likely they will send you a refurb replacement.

[Q] [q] galaxy s6 root help

Im comming from IOS, and i want to know if have any problem with warranty rooting the device, or i can change the KNOX to default again? (srry if what i asked is stupid im new on android haha brhu3 )
It voids your warranty. However, you can always flash it back to stock before you send it in to get a new one from the insurance company like Asurion or phone manufacturer.
Edit: I have sent in a bricked Droid X to Asurion, and they never said anything.
