[HELP] Why is my Note 5 No Longer Fast Charging? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note5

My Note 5 has recently stopped fast charging. I've replaced that cables and even tried using my girlfriends S6 fast charger and still nothing. My girlfriend can still fast charge her phone on my old OEM fast charger block and cable without any problems. I've done some googling and the only advice is to replace the cable and block, but again that isn't the problem. Does anyone have a solution for this or may know where the problem lies? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

If not cables, use the warrenty on phone

Ugh that's what I was trying to avoid but if that's the only solution I just may have to do that. Thanks.

Boot into safe mode and see if it's working. If it is, let it take a full charge and reboot back into standard mode.

I had this same problem 3 days ago, i was on latest Moar with stock kernel so i decided to back up all my apps with titanium backup, factory reset the phone, reinstall Moar but this time i installed djvoleur kernel instead of stock and now fast charging always works, always

In layman's terms a factory reset solved your problem?

No, what I'm saying is that when you flash moar rom choose to install Djvoleur kernel and not stock, that fixed my problem

Ok, figured mine out.
Turned out to be the cable. I swapped it out with one of the superior quality blackberry cables I bought a while back and mine is fast charging again. Maybe take yours in along with the charger and let them test it on one they have at the store too. The stock charger should have a lightning bolt sticker on it that says it is a fast charger too.

I recently had this problem, I got an aftermarket fast charging cord and it fixed the problem. It seems the stock charging cord went bad or something. Costed 5 dollars off eBay and it's 6ft long, its much better than the original.

Also it could be a dirty cable connection port. Mine was full of lint I used a needle to clean out my port and bam fast charge again.

I have the same issue. Multiple Samsung Adaptive Fast Chargers which use to charge the phone, now do not. Qi inductive charging seems to be working but not sure if its at the fast rate. Using Samsung Galaxy Charging Current to monitor when inductively charging it. Occasionally that does not working but rebooting phone, then re-enables that functionality. Odd..

Aha... @Juansegovia20 I think you may be on to something. I've been on MOAR 4.3 for some time and it HAD been working, then it started not working. Can't think of anything I changed that may have caused this. I believe I am also on stock kernel. Is the djvoleur kernel one of the options on the MOAR installer wizard or did you sideload that? Thanks for this

Thanks @tdunham. I've responded above that I'm on MOAR 4.3 and out of nowhere I seem to have experienced this. Inductive is still working but not sure if its at the faster rate.

Problem: Stuck in bootloop after BMM, cant FXZ

Hi guys,
So i finally decided to hop on back to custom ROM's after official ICS, figured by now most bugs would've been worked out right.
I booted into BMM, & flashed the ROM (Mokee) into the 2nd system, but then when i tried to reboot, it gave the following message:
"Checking system integrity... Bad!
hijack version mismatched!
Bootmenu will not run in next boot
If this is a mistake, reinstall via System keeper menu"
Click to collapse
I decide then not to reboot into this system, so I change over back to the stock system & reboot from there, & it seems to be going ok, till it bootloops.
I then tried to FXZ back to stock, tried it twice but this also doesnt work. This is the error message shown on RSD:
Failed Flashing Process. Failed flashing process. 2/20 flash mbm "allow-mbmloader-flashing-mbm.bin" -> Phone returned FAIL. ;phone connected.

Also, for some reason, the phone display in fastboot shows the following message:
AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S)
0A.72
Battery low
Cannot program

What does this actually mean, & is this the problem? I've left the phone on the charger for a few hours, but this hasn't changed
Any help greatly appreciated
I think u just brick ur phone.. If its not charged u need to use external charger or use the mcgyver charging
method.. Someone succeed here..

Gave the McGyver charging a try, eventually got it to work with some fiddling around, it gets past the previous stage but then now it gives another error:

What could this mean?
First of all, can someone confirm whether I've got the right firmware? My phone is the US AT&T model, and I downloaded the 6.7.2_EDEM-18-MEARET firmware from this page:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1934874
Which version of Atrix 2 do you have? Flashing the wrong FXZ can permanently brick your phone. I would strongly recommend that you don't flash anything else until you know for sure that you have the correct FXZ.

Yup I eventually figured it out later. I had to do some more McGyvering coz the battery error returned, but i finally got it to work. Thanks guys!
As a side note, which gapps version should i flash with this rom? Stock ICS is 4.0.4, but the rom (Mokee) has 4.2.2 on it, so do I flash the 4.2.2 version?
Cheers!

Sorry for the long delay. Ah I kind-of already disassembled it I dont flash often so it wasn't really anything permanent, I'll build a proper one when it happens again, but i can give a simple explanation of 2 methods i tried:
USB CHARGER
I tried the usb charger method, but for some reason, while in fastboot it would show "Battery OK, OK to Program", but then when the FXZ flashing process gets to around 7/20, it would revert back to "Battery LOW, Cannot Program".
If you still wanna try it, just get anything with a usb cable. I used an old mouse that was broken. Cut the cable, & you should see 4 wires: blue, green, white & yellow.
I then used a multimeter to find out polarities of the wire & which one carried 5V, ( turned out it was the blue+white cables. From memory, blue was +ve & white was -ve, but this can vary depending on what you use as the power source e.g computer, mains usb charger etc) .
Once you know this, then just attach the +ve wire to the +ve side of the battery, & vice versa for the -ve wire. Make sure you strip enough of the wire insulation so that only the metal part is in contact with the battery, and also make sure that the other wires don't touch, it could short the power supply.
(see the attached picture USB_Charger, its too big to put here)
ANY OTHER CHARGER
This is the method that worked for me, however, its abit more risky, but i guess if you are into flashing you have already accepted the risks that come with it
First off, you will need another charger. Any charger will work, but to make things much easier for you, try to pick a charger that looks like this:
(see the attached picture Other_Charger, its too big to put here)
It may not be clear in the photo, but there is a hole in the middle of that charger. The reason I recommend this type is because most, if not all, of these chargers follow the convention that the hole in the middle is the +ve terminal, & the outside is the -ve terminal. This way you know exactly the polarity of the charger even if you cant measure the polarity of the charger.
Ok, once you know the polarity, just attach a wire to the inside & outside of the charger, or if you picked a different type of charger, attach wires to the correct terminals, then attach to the corresponding battery terminals.
Now, with both of these methods you can do this in 2 ways. One is to return the battery with the wires into the phone, & try flashing. That didnt work for me, so i just attached the wires, & charged the battery outside the phone, then after some time unplug the wires & return the battery into the phone. With the USB Charger, I left the battery charging overnight, but when i came back it was still not fully charged. Thats when i switched to the other charger. Coz this charger is slightly more powerful that the usb charger, i charged the battery for about 40 min, then returned it to the phone to check, & it was charged :victory: . I would suggest if you charge outside the phone, charge the battery for 30-40min at first, then check if its charged. If not, charge in 15 min increments until it's charged, this way you avoid damaging the battery.
Sorry if this post is too long, didnt know how else to explain this in simpler terms
Hope this was helpful.

No worries mate Did u use a camera battery charger or just the usb cable? I was hoping to use the charging indicator light to know when the battery was fully charged, but my camera charger has 3 terminals, & when I hooked up just the +ve & -ve to the phone battery, it didnt work, & I couldnt figure out what the 3rd terminal was for

Hey, I've got a question. After rooting everything worked but it would not charge. I put on my computer via USB; it came with a wall charger and neither worked.
I 'unrooted' it and it still wouldn't charge. I was trying to get into the download mode and the darn thing started charging - but it is unrooted again.
I'm going to root it again after charging, which seems to take forever.
Do you have any ideas as to what is going on?
Thanks.

Now to get my Titanium Backup to see the Pro key.... I'm waiting to hear from support

OPO Just Reboots, around 40 to 50 times a day

Things I have tried
Flashing Factory Image
Flashing Different Roms
Using different ToolKits to restore to stock
Relocking/Re-Unlocking the Bootloader
Messing with the performance settings
Manually fastboot reflashing everything
Erasing the persist image and rewriting it
make_ext4fs /dev/block/mmcblk0p15
Flashing 25r
Flashing 38r
Flashing 44s
It does NOT work. The reboots remain the same, they have nothing to due with the CPU or heat. I tested that. When everything seems normal.... Reboot. Phone sitting by its' self? Reboot...Sometimes it will just reboot over and over for minutes. Sometimes it will go hours and then just go crazy.
I'm out of ideas. 95% sure motherboard failure of some kind.
Everyone's thoughts?

Big 10-4 there sir. I have. Tried with no accounts a d just pure factory default. Even safe mode. It makes no difference.
What are you doing right before it reboots?
When did you first start experience these reboots?
Did you have these reboots when you just got the phone?
What modifications did you ever do to your phone? For instance, you could've flashed some custom firmware/bin file onto your phone.
What I would do in a situation like this is find out how to get back to complete stock. So I assume this includes locking the bootloader, and using CM1xS. No gimmicks, just your phone when you first got it. If you still experience these reboots, it might be a hardware issue. I'd fill in a report at Oneplus and let them do their research.
Good luck.
This is a common issue. It may lead to your phone being bricked as the partitions become corrupted due to the rebooting. Take it to a service centre and have it looked at

Well if it isn't happening while in recovery or fastboot it isn't likely to be a hardware problem, so that's a plus. Which stock images have you flashed with fastboot?

I had the same issue, phone was 2 weeks old when I took it into the samsung care centre. Fast charging wasn't working and sometimes while connected to my laptop it connect and disconnect itself. Fast charging is working perfectly since replacing the USB port.
They didn't check Knox but did go into the settings\about device\status to see if it said "Official"
Basically my advise is restore stock ROM via Odin before returning.
EDIT: Just read that you can't even connect via Odin Factory reset is your best option, unless your running a custom ROM in which case Device Status will remain "Custom" after a factory reset...

Exactly. So FACTORY REST will not remove SuperSU as it is incorporated into system as system file. Only the user settings and apps are formatted in a factory reset. Thus, it would have no affect on Supersu. I hope your question is answered

oneplus one stuck at bootloop when not charging

HI I have 1+1 and its 2 years 3 month old. Presently its on CM13 MM(oxygen OS I guess) and rooted and have a recovery also. I did root and recovery around 8 months back.
2 days back when mobile was in pocket and 35% battery it went in to bootloop. after lot of stuffs like clearing cache and dalvik cache nothing worked.
Later at night i found out that mobile is working fine when its connected to charging (either by lapi or Mob charger). Hence I didn't go back to old recovery.
yesterday fully drained my battery and later charged to full and found same issue.
I am not able to make out whats the issue and how to move forward if I don't want to loose my resent data state. PLs guys help me to solve this issue.
will do whatever needed to restore my mobile. TIA
Wait I didn't understand what u said ,ur saying that your phone gets stuck in boot loop when its not charging ,what happens when you are changing and then u plug it off ? Does it like reset ?

see it sounds weird but its true. when i connect charging it boots in normally and normal operation will start as usual. Even after full starting, once I remove charging connection it goes off to boot loop. I didn't do any modification in software also. just did normal downloading off apps.
I saw slimier 2 complaints in Oneplus forum but no one relied for that. even originator has not updated what he did finally. I have asked for reply from them too.

Seems to me like a hardware issue.
Can you be on recovery/fastboot without the need of a charger?

Then no issues with hardware....seems like a bad/corrupt frimware.
You need to unlock your bootloader and flash latest Cos13 through fastboot.
How to- https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/...oader-install-custom-recovery-and-root.64487/
To flash Cos13- https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guide-return-opo-to-100-stock-t2826541
Hope this helps.
Edit:After reading your first post seems like you're already rooted and have Twrp installed, with a unlocked bootloader, obviously.Though I don't able to understand if you're using cm13 or cos13 or oxygen os...
If you don't want to loose your internal storage, you can skip the userdata flash command while flashing Cos13 through fastboot, though,it is recommended to do that command.
You can always go to Twrp and take the backup of your internal storage in pc through MTP or a full backup using ADB.

thanks pal. yes bootloader and all is unlocked. will see about this in coming weekend.
can't this problem be fixed if i just move back to old backup?
meanwhile is there any shortcut that reduce the time frame for doing all this on existing data. If anyone knows pls share. If this is the only go then do comment will ask to close the thread.

bro one more issue started yesterday. I thought to making battery full nil and charge to 100% may help.
Before without charging connected I was able to go in twrp but not now. if i remove charging its going to restart even recovery mode also. When I went to restore old backup in TWRP mobile is auto starting even when charger is connected. but if i dont do anything its staying fine in TWRP lock screen.
without charging connected i can go into fastboot n stay for as long as i want but comp is not detecting mobile even though developer option is ON.
Yesterday thought of restoring old backup which interrupted half within 1min and now if i start mobile while charging its getting struk at 1+1 welcome screen.
I am fully confused like anything..
is it not strange that so many people (including) have started facing this issue suddenly in the past two months?
I too am facing this issue. Has anyone managed to find a fix for the issue?

flashing and all is time waste. If u r facing similar issue as quoted by me then its a battery problem. if your battery is not changed till now and old one around 2 years or more pls change it.
I wasted lot of time in flashing and lost all my data. I wish someone would have helped me with battery change suggestion. all the best..

But the sad truth is we can't get any original / as good as original replacement. Oneplus stopped production 2years ago. I did a quick google search and found out most of the batteries are ****. As you're name suggests, I think you're from India. Can you please inform me if you find any decent batteries? I will inform you if I find anything good.
Thx

yes I am from India. I would suggest you first try with replacement battery as everyone sell replacement battery. you can find any of these in ebay. In India Oneplus is ready to arrange a original one costing Rs 1800. They asked me for a week time to arrange original battery. So its upto u to decide to take new one or replacement.

I contacted my nearest customer care. They said that they have to analyze the phone and it would take almost 15 days. Did you get a new battery?

Same issue, start from 3 days ago...
Without charger or power bank i can't use phone [emoji19]
My phone is old around 2.5+ year
Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk
Me too having the same issue. Seems like OnePlus one devices have some kind of kill switch to ruin it after 2.5 years. Quite a few number of people seems to have this issue all of a sudden.
