S6 'always-on' display? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was wondering if its possible as the S7 seems to have the same display as the S6 on paper
Could also be a way of us saving battery power over the day

Download a 3rd party app from the play store, Samsung is not going to bring it over to the s6.

There are Third party apps, you can try. Or maybe someone will port the s7 rom in future.

I think this is our best bet at seeing it on a s6.

Yup, you'll have to do a system dump, probably need to unlock boot loader etc, but chainfire is someone you'll want to reach out to.
Also, would love to know battery life!!

What carrier or is it international brand? AT&T and Verizon have locked the bootloaders in the past making it hard to root!
Also can you show some of the theme changer in the settings, thanks.

It's SM-G920F so it's international variant. At&T should be G920A

Even without root you could make a System Dump too!

Could you extract the sound files?

Any screenshots yet regarding battery life? =)
It will be good for us, thanks!
When you get around to posting battery life screenshots can you make sure to post screen on time, brightness level, and what you used the phone for so that the number are more meaningful.
Nah, is normal
Yeah sorry I hadnt had a chance to get on XDA and respond. Battery life to be complete honest I am demoing the device 24/7 and so far on hard usage i'm getting 6-7 hours. But thats with the phone on full brightness and pushing the phone to its limits. Tomorrow I will be able to provide accurate battery life i will a free day and will be able to see how long it last without demoing it all the time.
I will so provide screen shots of my battery from yesterday and a screen shot from today.
Thanks for putting in contact with the right people I will contact them and do a system dump and hopefully get this started.
Maybe you can post sot time
Can you upload its Firmware? So we can extract some interesting stuff?
thanks
Yeah, screen on time (SOT) is the only battery metric that means anything to me.

You guys are so wrong on that one.
SOT is probably the worst way to tell a phones battery life.
Were Bluetooth, Locations and other things on? Screen brightness? What apps installed? What was on the screen? A web page? Gaming? (remember this is amoled and darks are easier than whites too).
This really needs to stop because it seems to have spread to a point where more and more people are calling this a metric when it's not.
There are way too many unknown factors that will greatly effect SOT.
He right. We need all the info not just SOT.

6.0.1 live weather replacement?

They got rid of the live weather option for the lock screen with this update. Does anyone know of a replacement app that is similar? I'm not rooted and not planning on rooting either, I want my Samsung Pay.
Ahh man that sucks
Have you tried any launchers?

Tried some in the past, but they seemed to slow the phone down. The more i look though, that seems to be the only real alternative. So disappointing.
Any chance we could grab the app from 5.1.1 and install it to get it back?

Does My Samsung J7 Lack an LED Notification Light?

I bought the Samsung J7 model SM-J700T from Tmobile a few days ago. But I dont see an LED notification light on it. Does this phone have it or not? I read that the 2016 version has it. But I should have the 2016 version since I bought it a few days ago. Can someone confirm this?
Can someone also tell me if I got the 2015 or 2016 version?

Because I thought this phone had everything I ever needed in a phone. I never thought that it lacled LED notificatiion. This is my only complaint. If it did have it, I wouldnt need to return it.
But I think I read somewhere that the international version has LED notification.. But I'm not 100% sure.
For anyone looking still looking for the answer to this question, I just found it on my J7. Go to Settings - Accessibility - Hearing - then turn on the Flash notification. It using the front facing camera flash to notify you.
Nice find?!!
Question - how long before the flashing stops?

J700t is a 2015 variant with 2gb ram so it don't have an led
It flashes the back light instead of the front facing light
Then why does it have the option in message settings? I tried it but never comes on. I don't understand why there would be a led color setting but no led light on the phone
Nope
Nope buddy, For your device i think it won't has one. Just have a look at the manufactured date on the box.
Hahaha

Waze App

Good morning All.
So I am new to the forums so excuse my nervousness here. I have a odd question for those who already have this phone. Basically, I would like to know if the Waze app Galaxy S8+ operate fluidly? The reason that I ask is because when I had my Note 5 I would notice while I was using the app during the navigation mode it would skip as I was driving.
When I had the phone then I thought it was a firmware issue from the app or the phone it self, however that was not the case because they were both up to date at that present time. While researching I found out that I was not it was an issue with the Android OS.
I am very interested to know the answer to this thank you!

Only used it once, but it seems to work fine
I use it daily and haven't had issues with it. Ive had my phone since wed, but had a S7 edge before that and no issues there either.

Great news. I know it seems like an odd question, but I use Waze more than any app on any devices that I have.
Waze work great in my galaxy s8 plus...

Daily use of Waze and zero issues.
I use Waze daily while on patrol. I used it on all the previous Android devices I have had and now on the S8+. I have had no issue with the production version.

That's good to hear. I have just got a S8+ and never realised that AMOLED's suffer this as I've only ever had LCD phones.
Do you do anything other than change the car colour as I guess the orange icon to the right of the screen in the app could cause problems.
Do you set it to a certain brightness etc?

I just let it run as is with auto brightness on. I'm in the same boat, this is my first AMOLED phone. I've had it about 3 months now and so far so good.

I do not remember authorizing any updates, but this started last year in December. And I did have it set to auto update. I had called Samsung support they told me my battery was shot and they could replace it and since my warrenty was expired it would be almost 200.00. So the watch has been sitting since then.
